We changed rooms three times which took up about 2 hours of our day. Although there is lots of parking we were charged a lot for each day we stayed. The hotels are half updated but the bathroom and doors need work. I could here our neighbors all night. They had a nice pool and the location to sea world and the beach are good but not worth the price.

This is a wonderful location and we stay here every year. The pools and slides are great and wonderful for kids. The Swim bar and lounge is a great casual atmosphere to come in from the pool and have a drink or food. Great location I would recommend it and will stay there again.

Room was not real clean - spots on lampshades, etc. dusty. refrigerator did not work and coffeemaker was dirty. no place to get coffee in the morning - had to walk to einstein bagels and pay $3 a cup. Noise in my room the first Saturday due to a wedding reception. Room was shaking from the pounding music. Service at the desk was good and so were the concierge services. Did like the location being close to the marina but it was colder due to being by the water. Hotel is older - furniture worn. I did like the atmosphere at the Red Marlin and food was good there. Swim bar too expensive. Best part about this place was the friendly staff. Wish it would have been cleaner and newer.

Charged for extra guests, but only provided two towels, two glasses. Moving of luggage stored to our rooms very slow. Had to call to get it 20 min. after check-in. Couldn't accommodate us to an early check-in.

We were very satisfied with our quick overnight stay at the Sheraton Gateway. The room was clean, beds were comfortable though decor not great. The room was a decent size but the bathroom was small. We were mostly concerned about the proximity to LAX since we had an early morning flight out. The Starbucks in the lobby did not open until 5:30 a.m. so we missed our morning coffee there. However, the hotel provides complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and the airport and runs approximately every 10 minutes. The driver kindly helped my daughters and I with our (heavy) bags as he did the other passengers on the shuttle. This hotel is located 1/2 mile from the airport but it took us almost 1/2 hour to get there with all of the traffic, even as early as 5:15 a.m.!!! Since we arrived at the hotel late at night and left early in the morning, I cannot comment on the hotel amenities. I will say, however, that the staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel provides computers for guest use near the lobby area so we were able to print our boarding passes. Also WiFi was complimentary throughout the hotel including the privacy of your own room. I found this to be unique in my "research" for hotels in Southern California. My main concerns when choosing a hotel are convenience to the area I am interested in seeing/going, cleanliness and safety. The Sheraton Gateway seemed to be all of these.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations. The room was perfect, with a sunset view on the bay that was unreal. The pool area was terrific and the Red Marlin restaurant was nothing short of outstanding. We will stay there each time we visit SD.

We spent a romantic 3 night getaway at this Hyatt hotel and enjoyed it very much. It is in a super convenient location near lots of things to see and do. We had a corner suite up high (1419) which had a breathtaking view of the ocean, city and marina. The bed was very comfortable and although the other furnishings were a bit old, they were suitable and satisfactory. Service was great! Dinner in the Red Marlin was delicious. Try the Surf and Turf! Einstein Bros. Bagels is conveniently located on the Marina for breakfast and coffee. There is a nicely equiped fitness center next to Einsteins. The pool is beautiful and clean. It has two slides for the kids. It was a bit chilly for swimming, but the pool was busy anyway. Kids don't know when they are cold as long as they are having fun. One minor point. The mini-fridge in the room is NOT a refrigerator, it is a Chiller. Ours did not work at all until the maintenence guy reset it. It keep things cool, but the sign on it clearly indicates that it would not safely hold dairy products or medicine. Also, this is explained on their website listing. All in all, this was a great place to stay. .

First off they got the room setting wrong, was suppose to be 2 Queen beds but when we got there they only had 1 king for us so to make up for it, he gave me a free parking pass which did not make up for it. Second, the "Ocean View" was the front of the Bagel Store which was not what we were looking forward to. Third, the parking lot was full so we asked to give it to valet and they wanted to charge us $20 for that. No way!!! Not coming back to this place for sure.

Overall, the hotel was great. We were immediately upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. The staff was very friendly and handled our requests in a timely manner. Kudos to the concierge service at the hotel that gave us some really cool ideas on how we should spend our four days there (without kids!). The bar and grill by the poolside was a little over priced ($10-12 for a mixed drink??), but the food was delicious. My wife informed me that the Blue Marble Spa at the resort was phenomenal and very reasonably priced. As far as convenience to the airport, this hotel is definitely better than others, but it was still a $25-30 cab ride due to traffic. For free transportation around town, I highly recommend taking the complimentary hotel shuttle service to Mission Bay Blvd and visiting the beach front shops and restaurants. You can stay as long as you want and call them when you're ready to return to the hotel. We were very pleased with our stay here and would definitely come back during the summer.

Very good hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location, right next to Seaworld, 5 minutes from beach. There were only two negatives. The pool area was ALWAYS windy during the day. The hotel staff staid that was due to the tower being right next to the pool. It was significantly windier at the pool that it was away from the hotel every day. The other negative was our wall was thinner than paper thin. We could hear our neighbor hacking and coughing all day, and all night. We could hear his TV as clear as if we were sitting in the same room. We had an ajoining room, and at night, the door was such a poor seal that the light from the neighbor's room would spill into our room around the entire door. Those were the only 2 negatives. Everything else was excellent.

I rate this hotel a 3 at best because of the overall quality of the hotel itself. The staff were freindly and helpful. The Red Marlin dining experience was very good with excellent food. The big drawback of this hotel was its condition. The staff said it had been recently updated. They need to do it again. The rooms were large, but drab and sparsely furnished, not at all what I expected from a Hyatt. I consider it way overpriced for the quality of the accomodations. If you are looking for a luxurious beautifully appointed hotel, this is not the place to go. If you like beachy modern decor this place might work for youl.

I have stayed at Hyatt hotels for years, and this was an extremely disappointing experience. We paid extra to stay in a suite, only for our car to be broken into in the Hyatt Suite Parking Lot. The Hyatt provided no security assistance and did not "catch" it on tape. In the end, we felt completely unsafe during our entire stay and were disappointed with how overpriced the service was. We would not recommend this hotel.

Had a King Suite with Water view. Reasonably priced, excellent room, excellent service. Red Marlin restaurant is outstnding. The only complaint I have is that the refrigerators in the room arent cold enough to store milk. They clearly label this fact on the refrigerator, but was a little disappointed since I was travelling with a one year old. The restaurant was more than willing to spare some milk though, so no harm.

Great hotel. Didnt like that i have to pay for parking. Parking that was difficult to find especially after 8pm (its always full). Some parking spots are marked unevenly (even too small for our compact car). So dont bother bringing ur SUVs , vans or pick-up truck. Otherwise, great view, great location, great hotel.

I paid for a waterfront suite and while it was on the water there was a bathroom for the marina blocking the view so all we saw was a brown building. The bathtub had a crack in the paint, it stuck up and was sharp so I couldn't give my toddler a bath, she had to shower with me. We had to watch where we stepped in there so we didn't cut our feet. The refridgerator doesn't keep your drinks cold at all, it even has a sign on it that read... Don't keep medical supplies or dairy products in it. The room had no table to sit and eat at. The room service was GREAT. They were prompt, courteous and the food was delicious. I highly reccommend the room service. They charge a $3.25 delivery fee on top of the 19% gratituity, which was a bit much. My daughter got a fever the first night we were there so we didn't get to use the pool and waterslides which is why we got that hotel in the first place for her. All in all I think it is a good place to stay but they either need to reduce the rates a little or step it up on fixing the room issues. I would stay there again if offered a discount rate to make up for my NO waterfront view and a room with a better tub.

The experience at this hotel was fantastic. The prices were very competitive, the service was great, and the location is perfect for anyone visiting San Diego. though 10 minutes away from the city center. Wonderful view over the marina. The sound of the sea lions at the marina was lovely.

My husband and I stayed here over the holidays and enjoyed our time. The hotel is beautiful and right on the water. We were given a free upgrade at checkin without even asking. We enjoyed walking around the bay in the morning. The rooms are great and amenities are plentyful, however, there are lots of extra charges. Parking is $22/night and internet ranges from $10-20 per day. The pools were nice, though it was too cold to swim, but the firepits were fun in the evening. My sheets were a bit scratchy so my legs were irritated in the morning, but other than that, it was a very pleasant stay.

Awesome place to stay. Upon arrival we were informed that the price quoted on Hotels.com was a basic room, therefore our request for an ocean view at the listed price was not a possibility. After viewing several rooms, Rachel (Awesome)the manager was more than helpful with listening to what we wanted and for a small fee upgrading us to an ocean view. We had a blast! The staff all but tucked us in (can't remember his name). Hunter was full of knowledge about the area. We decided to stay an extra day! Jeff was awesome with checking us back in. One particular staff may need to have further training on patience and active listening skills, she seemed to care less about our needs. We will be back! Family friendly, tons of activities near by and very close to the beach.

They upgraded our room to a larger one with more room. The area is beautiful. Our room overlooked the bay and downtown San Diego could be seen in the distance. We watched sunrise from our balcony. The room was immaculate and elegant and very peaceful. We were able to sleep with the balcony door open all night long in January (the weather was really nice). Noise from the courtyard does travel well in that area so you would want to make sure the door was closed if you have trouble with sleeping with noises but the area itself is a quiet area with no traffic except what is headed for the hotel.

The outside looked inviting. We had a lot of fun on the water slides. However, they had no towels when we were done swimming and I had to wait an hour for towels. The weather was chilly so the wait was terrible. When I first arrived the safe was locked and the frig was broken. The front desk stated it would take 20 min for help but it was longer. Also, when I arrived we had no toliet paper. The maid did a nice job of cleaning but never gave us toliet paper. When it was time to check out the hotel wanted to charge me for the room again. I prepaid on hotels.com. I had more issues but overall the location was good and the hotel clean.

Attended a 3-day conference at this hotel, and it was a very pleasant venue, utilizing outside patio space for breakfasts and coffee breaks as well as indoor rooms. The food served during the conference was very tasty, fresh, and healthy. I enjoyed the outdoor jacuzzi but some of the water slides and swimming pools were closed. The room was pleasant and the views of Mission Bay lovely. My only complaints were that there were no bath towels in the room when I arrived, and the next morning, when I finally dicscovered the in-room coffee maker (which was hidden away and not at all obvious) I could not plug it into the electrical plug nearby because the outlet was inaccessible. I made the coffee on the desk across the room.

The location is perfect for Paradise & Mission Beach. The views from the tower rooms are incredible!

Loved the location, have stayed before in the high rise. While we liked the suites and having separate rooms, the heat didn't appear to work in the "living room" and the bathroom sliding door was very difficult to manuever and wouldn't close completely. The high rise room was in great shape when we stayed there. Great location, beautiful views and the property has a gorgeous tropical feel.

The service was exceptional, and I felt like a VIP during my first stay at this Hyatt. Beautiful resort-like hotel with nice pool and harbor out back. Got a free copy of the Wall Street Journal at my door every morning. Beach-like town and plenty of restaurants in only a 10 min drive. Advice for hotel: My stay was wonderful, but to make it absolutely GREAT, pay attention to the small cleaning details: there was dust lining the bathroom lights, the brochure on the desk was stained with writing in it, the hangers are showing their age, the mini fridge wasn't working, and the lamp hood had some stains on it. Otherwise, it would be a great 5 star stay.
