Room and hotel overall really good, pool however not available due the maintenance work. Breakfast really good but especially the fact that by using a single tram (ratikka) you are able to reach and return from Helsngin Messukeskus (exhibition center) made this hotel even better.As well easy to get city center by tram so both lesure and business hotel working well.

This used to be Intercontinental, and 20 years ago it was one of the best hotels in Helsinki. But that was back then. Now the service is still good and breakfast is "Scandic-standard" quality etc, but the rooms are pretty worn and historical. Clean, but everything is old. If hotel rooms are in this shape you could expect that hotel is a bit cheaper than other Scandic hotels, but it isn't. So unless this location is better for you, I'd suggest that go to more centrum as prices are the same and hotels newer & better.

Staff are really helpful, even if arriving at 1:30 AM (as for me for flight delayed) . Breakfast is good, you have everything. Sauna, well hours for enjoying it could have been better. You have tram bus just in front the hotel. But you can walk to the center just 15mn from it . Wonderful view , no building in front of it and very calm.Chef menu for dinner at the restaurant. If your PC is out of service or you have forgotten the batteries no worries as you have free access to PC/internet that is really helpful.

The hotel is generally good, but there is a problem with static electricity. I got shocks from various metal objects, such as door handles, the lift buttons, even my mobile phone. This suggests that the earthing in the building is faulty. Another complaint is the worn-out television. I could hardly hear what they were saying and the picture was poor. There are no signs in the corridors to tell you where the lifts are so you waste time trying to find them. Some of the carpeting is worn out. The restaurant is very good, on the other hand, and probably the best value I could find in central Helsinki.

Stayed for 3 nights. Hotel is a little away from the town centre. Breakfast is always included at Scandic (Good Buffet standard). Airport Bus stops at the rear of the hotel. Good Room at basic price. Free Wi-Fi. Recommended.

The hotel has become a little worn down.

I booked the Continental hotel for my Belgian friends visiting us in Helsinki. It was a wonderful experience for them, both I and my guests got to enjoy extra hospitality and flexible, professional service. The sauna and pool had offered a great view and the location had been optimal. Would recommend to anyone getting visitors!

The hotel is located on the main street of Helsinki, some 15 minutes walk from the very city center. It is a Scandic hotel so one knows what to expect and what not to expect. If you like going to gym, this hotel offers an access to a privately run fitness center with the latest equipment. You can find the place on the third floor, signs to show the way are poor, but just go through meeting center (!). The glories t days of this place are gone but definitely suitable for a weekend, work or any other stay.

The hotel was only a mile walk from the Central Train Station. I arrived by air, took the shuttle bus from the airport to the central train station and hiked to the hotel with my two backpacks. It was an easy walk and extremely easy to find. Breakfast was included and was a full buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, pastries and so on. The hotel was only a few blocks from a main mall, Kompii and several restaurants. Wifi was free and easily accessible. The only draw back from an American's perspective was the tiny bed and tiny shower but all-in-all this was a very nice stay!

Nice hotel right next to the park. Good breakfast, featuring a variety of healthy foods. There's also a grocery store in back of the hotel for snacks. The FinnAir express airport bus stops right across the street for quick airport transportation (30 minutes on the dot, at about 1/5 the cost of a taxi).

Our experience with your hotel is a yo-yo one. 19-22 August a disappointment; 25-27 August very good ambience and condition of room and now a triple - back to worn out room with no tea making facility until I requested your reception personnel 'Ednan'. For a triple and the price we paid (highest of the three booking) it was really not value for money. The room was old and worn out, very tight for three beds. Once again, we had to use a towel as bath mat which was not to our taste cos in all the hotels (from a 3* to a 5* we had bath mat). Ednan gave us to understand that the 25-27 August stay was a superior room. I cannot understand the inconsistency esp with regard to the price we paid.

Our disappointment with our stay from 19 to 22 August was reversed to a very pleasant surprise. We were given a very nice room with tea making facility. The room and furnishing was newer, nicer and cleaner - no cigarette smell at all. This time it was very nice. My only regret is that I forgot to take down the lady reception personnel's name to thank her for the good room she had given us.

We requested for a non-smoking room. We were told to check in later as the room was not ready. We came back after 3pm and was given a supposedly good room with a view. It turned out that room 622 was a room with cigarette smell in and outside the room. There was no tea making facility so I asked the operator for the loan of an electric jug. Was told if she had any. Much much later a kind lady came with one kettle and apologised for the long delay. The room was worn out, no bathmat for the bathroom and when asked, was told to use a towel. There was no shower cap.

good location near center and central train station, very narrow bed, old fashion furniture, small room not for claustrophobic people! chaos at the weekend breakfast. positive points: pool, sauna, location, breakfast buffet, location

be careful -- i could not access my mobile phone provider and ended up paying a lot in calls from the hotel room.

"+" very convinient location from city center, 10 min by walking step to central railwaystation and Kamppi metro station. A good atmosphere inside, with customer-oriented staff, not expensive prices for stay. "-" old-style furniture inside and very stuffy (November). We have had in use some system errors with hotel's TV-system. After strange request to insert a room number we've got a bill to pay for some movies that we didn't watch. After our explanations, administrator said us that it could be happened.

Two stays July-August 3 weeks appart. Ice machine on floor did not work in spite of repeated comments at front desk. Room service OK but general maintenance questionable. Automatic opening of front entrance door would help with hevay luggage. (On porters available).

If you enjoy standing in a line or taking a sun bath in the evening this is the hotel for you. There is an indoor pool and a nice terrace for sun bathing but it is closed between 11 am and 6 pm! The arrangement around breakfast was terrible with too much people, no glasses, no juice, no refill of food the last hour of the breakfast, nowhere to sit.... There was also always a long waiting time for the lift and no stairs to use as an alternative. The garage was full and parking on the street ("somewhere") was the only alternative. On the bright side: The fitness room was great with long opening hours.

Friendly, efficient staff. The value for the money is great - Free internet, great buffet breakfast, not too far from center of town, and the view from the Sauna is fantastic. Very convenient if going to/from the airport with the Finnair Airport bus stopping in front of the hotel. Great place to stay short-term in Helsinki.

Pool is not heated, pool/sauna area so dirty. Which also applies to bath tub in our room was disgusting! And, had not been cleaned in years properly! Restaurants kids room has no one to look after kids, and lack of toys is not impressive. Childrens menu do not order hamburger it is not child friendly no cheese, and was not tasty! Bed is so old you can feel the springs.

I stayed at this hotel between 04/09/09-08/09/09 and was very impressed with the overall quality of the hotel.The room,staff and food were excellent.The price was very reasonable for the quality of the hotel.The hotel is a fair way from the city centre but there is a tram stop near the hotel which makes it easy to get to the city centre in 15 minutes.The Finnair airport bus stops outside the hotel which is very reasonable and comes every 20 minutes.There are not many restaurants near the hotel and the hotel food is a little expensive which is a slight problem.

Have stayed at several Scandic hotels in Finland and elsewhere now. Some complain that they need "face lifts" but I found the decor and atmosphere to be just fine. Rooms are a little small, but have most of the amenities a business or casual traveler would look for. Where they really excel is the morning breakfast buffet. One of the best I have ever seen with dozens of choices. I would stay here again.

Although the hotel is slightly far from the central station or pier, it is very convienient to visit the hotel. The employees of the hotel are very kind and the room is very comfortable.

This hotel is old and tired. I booked a family room which was too small, leaving no room to move once suitcases and family were installed. I have paid less in Helsinki and got better, the fact that this hotel is recommended by Finnair is shocking. I enen picked up a virus in my email when using their wireless internet to access my account. I will never ever stay in this hotel again, over all very very disappointing and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Have stayed in this hotel many times due to its convenient location if using the Finnair airport bus. They have their own airport bus stop. The rooms are a bit dated but nice sized and have all you need. The hairdryers are a BIG minus - take your own if you need one. They are the 80's style dryers that were used only in public sport facilities. And they are NOT powerful... I only use this hotel when on private trips as its cheaper than many of the central Helsinki hotels. But for business I don't go there as its full of tourists and sometimes noisy if people come from bars late. The breakfast there is chaotic as there are lots of people who don't know how to queue. Also a colleague's handbag was stolen there at dinner in their restaurant by foreign (Romanian) professional thieves gang... Otherwise the service in the restaurant and food is good. If you are a gym-a-holic, they have a really great one right next door, but comes with a price tag of 15€ a day. If you like biking, walking and running, the lake is right next to it and the running and biking paths excellent! Also the sea is 500m away. Shops, quality restaurants (Carelia, Lyon, Elite etc) and attractions (opera, amusement park, Sibelius monument, Finlandia Hall etc) all in short walking distance. Play area for kids as well

Scandic Continental is ideally located, along the busy Mannerheimintie in the city centre, yet in a quiet spot so that the visitors' don't need to worry about heavy bar or nightclub noise coming from the neighborhood. As the building itself is pretty old, the hotel would need a bit of a touch-up at some point, especially in the communal areas, but I am sure this is already in planning. I found the reception staff extremely helpful; as I arrived earlier than anticipated (10.30am) I was allocated a room immediately, and when I told them my flight would leave in the evening,they extended my check-out time without any delay. Good location, great service - would definitley recommend.

Mahtava sijainti ajatellen ostoksia ja illan baletissa käyntiä. Huone siisti, mutta vanhanaikainen ja kokolattiamatto ei kuulune enää nykypäivän käytäntöön. Aamiainen monipuolinen. Ja kaikkialla henkilökunta ystävällinen.

hyvä ja nopea palvelu

Illallisen pääruoka riistamakkara oli pettymys, laatu-hintasuhde ei ihan kohdannut. Lisäksi kauheaa oli hotellihuoneen LUX-saippua, jossa on ihan karmea haju. Taas en muistanut ottaa omaa saippuaa mukaan, kun tämä kauhean hajuinen saippua on aina näissä Scandic-hotelleissa käytössä. Joka kerta siitä valitan, mutta ei mitään muutosta. Näin voimakas haju aiheuttaa herkän hajuaistin omaaville helposti päänsäryn.

Olimme pettyneitä hotellin tasoon. Hotels.com sivulla kerrottiin hotellin olevan neljän tähden ja huonepalve- lun 24 tuntia. Paikanpäällä vastaanotto kertoi hotellin olevan kuitenkin vain kolmen tähden ja hounepalvelua saisi vain rajoitetun ajan. Hotelli kaipaisi remonttia ja päivitystä nettisivuille. Sijanti oli erittäin hyvä ja palvelu ystävällistä. Salsa-festivaalista ei ollut tietoa, mutta onneksi hounesijaitsi yläkerroksissa.

Ett perfekt ställe för oss som är på tekniska mässan...bra avstånd från hotellet-mässan. Bra service, trevlig personal, fritt internet..

Kohtuu mukava hotelli, jossa tarvittavat palvelut. Erityisesti voin kehua kuntosalia, jota hotellin kanta-asiakkaat ainakin saavat käyttää ilmaiseksi. Ei ehkä modernein, mutta olen itse viihtynyt hyvin. Ruoka on myös hyvää, vaikka valinnan varaa ei ole mahdottomasti.
