Whitten Inn Taos - تاوس

We needed a vacation for our three little boys with a nice pool and found it at Whitten Inn Taos. The kind staff helped us find a room right next to the pool entrance and we spent most of the weekend soaking in the delightful, warm waters of the pool and hot tub. The bed was a bit hard and the room was a bit warn, but the wonderful staff and pool made our stay worth every penny.

This is a good place to stay in Santa Fe if you'd rather save some money on lodging and spend it on dining out or on museums. Comfortable and convenient - and our dog was happy, too!

The Hotel and staff were great. The room was very clean and roomy, location was perfect and the price was even better. Our only observation was that the bed was hard! Not firm or extra firm but hard! Too hard for either my wife and I.

The hotel staff stayed on top of all our needs, very friendly and helpful.

Staff was very friendly and lobby decent. Rooms are older but kept up as well as could be expected without actually remodeling. All in all, a fine hotel for a night or two if you want to stay in the area to ski. Not the best price but not too bad for the area.

I recently had a four night stay at the Whitten with my 10 y/o daughter for Spring Break. When comparing the overall value to the hotel amenities and service, I have to give the Whitten a very solid score. The Whitten came under new ownership several years ago and you can tell that they are making an effort to improve the overall condition. The indoor pool and hot tub were both double the size of what I would consider normal for this type of property. The pool was heated to the extent that I didn't feel the need to hit the hot tub. It was just that comfortable after a long day of skiing. Since it was Spring Break, the Inn was busy but not so much as to be a detriment to the overall service. The staff was pleasant and the morning breakfast fare was consistent. The staff did a good job of making sure that it was well stocked during the busy periods. Wireless internet is available, while I was kicked off a couple of times, there were several different connections and I was always re-connected in short order. When I hear people complain about internet connections, I would like to remind them that the more expensive the hotel, the more they charge for internet...and here it is free. Finally, for those not wanting to drive up to Ski Valley, the shuttle stops right in front of the hotel and is very convenient. This came in handy when I had a car issue. I would note that the Inn's owner offered to assist my daughter and I by arranging for a ride to the slopes and thereafter we used the shuttle. This was above and beyond the norm in my mind.

For booking a hotel room the week before spring break, we were satisfied with the Whitten Inn. This isn't anything fancy, but for the price it worked just fine. The room was clean and the staff was friendly.

The Whitten Inn was the best deal I could find in the area. The hotel was safe and clean, and they even upgraded my room for free. Overall, a good experience for someone looking to spend a few days on the mountain.

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to lay they head after a long day of snowboarding or sking. The Breakfast is great, The Rooms are nice, The staff is nice and helpful, and last but not least the Hot Tub is great always well taken care of.

Room was fine with fridge and microwave. Hotel staff were friendly with great tips on restaurants locals eat at. If the small "pool" was a hot tub it wasn't hot. Booth pools were about the same warm temperature.

Great place to stay for ski trips! The in room jacuzzi was great! The place is not perfect but the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was typical. Would stay again!

The best thing about this Hotel is the Indoor Pool and Hot Tub. The pool was kept nice and warm and the hot tub was very hot. Very nice to use after skiing in nearby Taos Ski Valley. Good location. This Motel has some maintenance issues though. The first night we were there the pool was not usable then two nights later the pool was working but the hot tub wasn't. The maid forgot to give us towels cups and coffee two of the three nights we stayed there. The staff also forgot to take some of the breakfest items out of the freezer the night before so one morning there was a very limited selection of food items to eat. The pool and hot tub is the only reason I would recommend this place. It's Okay for the price just don't expect to much from the staff.

Taos NM has many spectacular natural things to see within the surrounding areas of the town.. Therefore you wont want to stay in your hotel for the duration of your trip. At the end of the day. It was very nice to come back to a room that is clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The hotel sits just outside Taos historical plaza. A great experience indeed. at a very reasonable price.

This is a cost-effective stay ( esp. for skiers) since it has some rooms with jacuzzi tubs (sep. shower/tub in bathroom). This is a very clean, no frills but roomy "hotel room". The in-room jacuzzi, refrigerator, microwave, cable tv make it a very comfortable stay. That and the fact that this is also a non-smoking hotel, is why we picked it over some of the others in the same price category to begin with. However, we will now choose it again in part, because of the friendly, prompt service! The customer before us smoked in the bathroom apparently. When we called the front desk, housekeeping was there immediately to use a machine to take away the smell and change the shower curtain, etc. The entire weekend, all staff was friendly, helpful & had great attitudes. There is also a well-maintained, warm, indoor pool and large hot-tub. Hotel is walking dis. to the "heart" of Taos, but far enough we chose to drive over, park, then walk around. Breakfast is basic waffles, cereal, danish, toasts, bananas, juice & coffee -no protein, yogurts, etc. ( Advice for management: Upkeep of the actual structure would look professional if a little more time/care were taken with details like caulking and wallpaper repair, etc. instead of the obvious quick jobs done currently.) That is a only minor point though- we were very satisfied with the stay.

My wife & I enjoyed are stay. We had the King room with fireplace and it was very cozy & clean. Sarah at the front desk greeted us as we entered & was very friendly & helpful with directions around town. The hot tub & pool area was very nice & maintained. We will diffently be back to enjoy another stay!

We knew this would be a dump from the reviews we read but we were just looking for a place to stay so we could ski.

This hotel met our needs. It is a simple, motel type feel, that was perfect for our short stay in Taos. Most people who stay there are skiers because it is less than a 15 minutes to the mountain. Great location, safe, clean, simple. It also provided a nice continental breakfast in the morning to grab a coffee and muffin on the go. Staff is really casual and friendly.

The Whitten Hotel in Taos was a short driving distance to everything you wanted I see. The rooms had a microwave and refrigerator as well which helps a lot for those of us carrying extra snacks and goodies on a road trip. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The best part was that we had all the commodities we needed plus breakfast and a heated pool for an inexpensive price. And that can't be beat when on a road trip to different towns.

If you want simple and seviceable, the value is great. This is a typical low-rent motel, so if you expect the cozy ski-lodge, it isn't for you. The rooms are simple and a little dated, but not so much that it's a problem. The indoor pool got ALOT of use from my family, and is worth the price of the stay. Angel Fire and Taos ski valley are about 45 minutes which kind of sucked, but there is a grocery store, wal-mart, walgreens and several fast food options. All of which you wouldn't get if you stayed too close to the mountains. In summary, a couple on a ski getaway, find somewhere nicer...a family of four on a holiday, this is a good option.

good hotel for what you pay, not fancy, a little worn, but did the trick and we would stay again, really liked the huge indoor hot tub and the heated pool was so relaxing

Pretty good overall with the following issues: 1. Breakfast room was too small and very busy. The staff did their best to keep refilling food and drink but hordes of people swarmed over and ate everything as soon as it was put out. 2. Lack of hotel supervision in the pool area. No one checking that children were properly supervised or to stop the redneck family from drinking and opening the fire exit to smoke cigarettes. 3. Very difficult to get connected to the wireless internet.

It is close to Taos Plaza and Taos Pueblo, the main attractions of the area. Very convenient location. The front desk clerks are very nice and helpful. However, the night I stayed the wireless network servers were down, which is not common. The breakfast area is small and not much choice.

Not very impressed with the room... Hotel staff was very nice...

Nice location, the staff members seemed to be nice, but we have a few issues. One, when we arrived, there were plenty of rooms not occupied, and due to the fact that my mom has knee problems I requested to change our rooms to the first floor from the second floor. The staff member said she would try but we never got switched during the 5 nights when we were there. And as far as we can tell, at least in the first three nights, not even half of the rooms on the first floor were occupied and there was a "VACANCY" sign turned on all the time! Two, half of the time when we were there, the Internet was not working. Three, during our stay, our vanity sink was not cleaned at all. Not sure why. Four, they provided a public-bathroom type of soap dispenser for shampoo and body wash and hand soap, and nothing else. This is the first time we stayed at a hotel which does not supply facial bar, body lotion, and separate shampoo and conditioner. Really not convenient. Plus, the dispenser for hand soap kept breaking every time when we pressed it. We were able to fix it right away, but it would break again next time we used it. Five, we had two rooms. The heater in one of the rooms did not turn off automatically after a certain temperature had been reached. We either had to turn it on and the room was completely toasted, or leave it off and the room was almost freezing. We decided not to stay here again.

Great indoor Hot Tub And Pool... a necessity after a day of skiing. Breakfast a nice plus. Take a to go cup for coffee. Nice flat screen TV in room. Very Friendly and welcoming staff, which is sometimes hard to find in a New Mexico resort town. Older rooms but kept well. Perfect for my son and I for a ski week. Convenient in town location.

I wanted a hotel with a hot tub and a TV. The hot tub was broken and the TV had miserable reception. The staff was nice.

Everything was perfect the first day we were ther, however, (without notice) there was no room service the second day. When we inquired atthe desk the man told us we were told about the change and that the lower rates (?) was not for us because we had been listed before that took effect (All that information was just offered. We did not inquire for that. only for towels etc.)

The inside of this hotel is delightful. They have done a lot of work to make it very comfortable as I even had a fireplace in my room. The outside needs the same attention to detail as the inside. The staff was very friendly and it was a comfortable stay. if you are looking for upscale, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a clean comfy room with a low price - stay here.

We stayed at the Whitten Inn and were very satisfied. I called from on the road, made and paid for my reservation, no hassle at all. Got to the hotel, clerk was very nice and informative. Clean room, good facilities and nice breakfast the next morning. Added plus was the Taos Hot Air Balloon Fest in the backyard of the hotel. Way to go! The Clerk was very nice and gave us a room with a view of the balloons. Checkout was just as easy, I dropped off the keys and we were out of there.

I thought the jacuzzi room was a good value--rough around the edges (stained carpet, painted wallpaper, inoperable window, etc.), but hey, hot tub in the room for not much money! The accoustical ceiling tile in the shower was very, very dirty; otherwise, the room was on par for a two star hotel: average bed-comfort and OK furnishings. However, the flat screen TV wasbig and very clear--great!! The staff person that I worked with had no idea how the "free" wifi worked let alone how to log on or which network was theirs. This person also was adamant that I allow them to photocopy my credit card and driver's license and be kept on file. I refused for obvious identity theft reasons, and the staff person finally gave up demanding. Skip the breakfast unless you crave sugar everything...and powdered fake cream with your almost instant tasting coffee. YUK!! Thank God Taos is full of gourmet coffee houses! Overall, I thought it a good value only because of the tub...did I mention hot tub in the room for not much money!!?? Very pet friendly!! Hope this helps.

Walls were a little thin but overall my stay was comfortable especially for the price,

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The same gal was the evening clerk, the breakfast clerk and the morning clerk. She did a great job of handling it all and remaining cheerful.. Kudos to her for doing such a great job.

The indoor pool was the best assest otherwise we would have not stayed the 2 nights. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom needs to be repaired. It was not cleaned very well at all..the coffee pot was not clean, the bathroom was not cleaned either. The price was good though. We do not plan on returning to the Whitten again due to the repairs greatly needed.

My wife and I stayed there two nights while traveling through NM... nice hotel and close to everything....

Clean, quiet and convenient - would stay there again if in Taos.

Room was clean and well kept. Hot tub was too cool temperature wise, but was clean. Could of been warmer. Pool was nice. Staff was very helpful. Good experience.
