Room Service is way over-priced for the quality, even the burger had a stale bun. The bathroom in the "Eats" suite was smaller than the one in my NY apartment. The layout of the room and the quality of the furniture was poor and cheap. I was disappointed. The pictures and reviews were positive and promising but did not match reality. The location is also not ideal and sketchy after dark. If you're looking for ambiance and something kitschy, keep looking. I will say the staff was lovely.

Great Hotel, Great location, Great Happy Hour!, Great for kids, the rooms are great, but the bathrooms could be larger.

Stayed one night at the Hotel Helix, which was my first time, but third Kimpton property. I thought the hotel was uniquely decorated. The artwork was funky, in a good way, and the rooms comfortable. I'm already booking a return visit at this hotel. I found the staff helpful and accommodating, as well.

Staying at the Helix is an experience. It has a real cool and funky atmosphere - from the curtains parting as you enter the lobby to the surfer picture at the head of the bed. It is a real nice place and has the Kimpton "vibe". The staff and the location are very good. It's a few blocks from the Metro (about 5-6 either way) but still very convenient.

I visit DC 1-2 times every month for work - and I work for a hotel. I generally stay at various Kimpton properties because I think their service is outstanding and their unique atmosphere is fun. The staff at the Hotel Helix is the most friendly and helpful that I've encountered! Jay and Camille at the front desk, Walter at the bar and Hussein the Assistant Front Office Manager all made my stay extra special. I'll be back again SOON!

The pictures of Helix Hotel give you an idea of the atmosphere, but when you see it all in person, it is a pretty cool effect. We really enjoyed it. Staff was awesome. Check in and check out were a little hectic in the small-ish lobby. Be patient and all will be fluffy. We'll be back for sure! Cool, cool space to be in.

Went there to visit a friend in Washington, DC and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Great hotel friendly staff close to bars & restaurants. Not far from the bus or subways :))

Really enjoyed the decor of the hotel and all of the staff were incredibly helpful. Really great location. Near the u st and dupont areas.

i am VERY VERY disappointed in the hotel. the pics on the website were VERY misleading. it MAY have been the room i had since it was a corner room but it was TINY as anything. Also the bathroom was hot water wasnt working well. i had to practically burn myself with the hot water to get anyhot water. IF you do stay here beware of the corner rooms cause they are small

We were very pleased with this hotel. It is in a great location, the rooms are very unique, large and comfortable. Parking is very expensive, there is nearby parking but 1/3 the price, and DONT order room service. For the price of breakfast it should be hot, but wasnt! There are plenty of places close by to eat instead. Other than that would definitely recommend this hotel.

Half decent place with funky motif. But it fell short in some places. Happy hour with free wine nice touch but not even a bowl of pretzels to nibble? Workout room tiny! A closet might have been bigger. But most annoying was the inconsiderate maintainence staff who were loud at ten thirty pm and loud again at 730a am. Price gouge for valet parking was also tough to take.

Stayed here for a weekend visit with friends-hotel is very cute, modern decor. Love the Comp wine hour with its tasty bubbly, locals also stop in for Afterwork drinks.. Room is comfortable and clean. Great location to easily catch a cab to visit the museums and U street nightlife. I would def stay here again!

I loved this hotel. Walking in was like stepping into a scene from Austin Powers but classier. Everyone on the staff was pleasantly helpful and always with a smile. The room was amazingly decorated, my girlfriend and I couldn't get over it! We had a blast at the bar-Hi Walter!!-before we headed out for the night and because of the convienent location, we didn't have to go far. I would definitely come back.

We stay here when in DC as it is close to our destination within the city. Very comfortable with friendly, helpful service. Even though they cater to dogs, room had no dog odor! Enjoy the wine hour and the morning coffee. The decor is fun.

Close to Dupont, P St. , and all the amazing shops, eateries, and more on 14th st. I love it.

This is a gem! Large room with funky decor. Great TV. Good wifi. Free happy hour drinks from 5-6 - they're not top of the range, but they're free and they're fun! Good value bar food and cocktails between 5-7. 15 minutes easy walk to the White House. Plenty of food and drink options nearby. Will stay here again!

Love the Kimpton hotels...2nd Stay at the Helix...great staff, service, very clean. Even the red wine during the complimentary daily happy hour was good! Will definitely stay again and highly recommend it....very hip but even my 81 year old mom loved it!

The hotel is in between Logan and Dupont circle. They have a very accommodating pet policy. Pets are aloud free. They also have a "no pet" floor so if you are allergic you need to request a room there. Even in the dog free zone our allergic friend had to take benedryl. The only strange thing regarding the pet policy was that my husband was reading about the hotel online while in the room (free wi-fi), and said we were supposed to sign a pet agreement when we signed in. I signed in holding my dog on a leash and the front desk person did not mention any thing about pet paperwork. She was nice thought. She changed our floor so that we could be closer to our friends on the pet-free floor, which is the 9th floor, and gave us a free wine card because we missed happy hour. Overall our stay was great. Beds were also very comfy- we slept well.

Loved the ambiance! The only thing I didn't like is to pay 36.00 to park my car at the hotel.other than that it was lovely!

The toilet made a really loud, almost growling noise when flushed (and sometimes just on its own). The lobby, room, etc are too dark and gloomy.

I thought for a while if I really wanted to write a review on the Helix Hotel because my mother always said if you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. Everything was great about the hotel except the staff. I currently live in Chicago and I want to go visit some friends in Washington DC, a fun get away trip. I actually really like the Kimpton hotels. The look of this one, the room was amazing, modern and the super clean. Here is my issues and big deal breaker for me especially when I’m visiting a major city and a hotel in general. Is the customer service, great way for Washington DC the “nation capital” to make a first impression. I walked into this beautiful hotel with people standing around, no one to greet me, with no real direction on where to check in and when I finally did find where to go the Helix hotel desk employee, who was on a personal phone call, didn’t even give a “head shake” to let me know he had seen me. So I stood there waiting for him. Last time I checked you should always help the person right in front of you not the person on the phone, especially when it’s a personal call. Now, I’m not an inpatient person but when the room is already paid for and all you have to do is just give me my key, I'm smart can find the room. I feel that no acknowledgement for a customer is not the way you want to run a business especially a business that is in the business of customer service. For this reason alone is why I would not recommend this hotel nor stay there again. It almost left a bad taste in my mouth about Washington Dc but the rest of my trip it was amazing. This hotel needs some serious help in the customer service department, you are in a major tourist city in an amazing location but that is a lot of hotel in that area and those hotels have better customer service, wait lets just keep it simple, they acknowledge there guest. Sorry Kimpton hotels but this was terrible. I think I would have been better off at a hostel. If you are visiting

Check in was completely disorganized. They did not have the room that I had reserved. The floor and room smelled badly from disinfectant. The bathroom was small. Room Service was spotty. I had stayed at a Kimpton Hotel in Washington before - the St. George - and it was a lot nicer. I would not return to this hotel.

Great service and locale. The hotel was done in trendy style but wasn't over board. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Free cocktail hour was awesome. We had a slight prob with our initial room but staff was quick to upgrade us. Be careful of the valet fee. No street parking so your stuck paying 45 for the night. Otherwise great.

HOTEL WAS AT ONE TIME NICE, BUT A RENOVATION IS NOW LONG OVERDUE.

Very different from other hotels we've stayed at. We really enjoyed the cool decor and the fun layout of the hotel. We also liked the breakfast. Everyone was very helpful and courteous. We'll definitely stay again.

I was extremely satisfied with the Helix for a recent night's stay in one of their suites. The service from the hotel staff was prompt and professional. They were friendly, helpful and accomodating. I was very very pleased with the room itself. The suite is large and very comfortable. There is plenty of room to move around and eventhough we had 12 people in the room at one point, we were never the least bit crowded. I will definitely stay in this suite again.
