The room was outdated and infested with cockroaches!

Hotel service was exceptional and all the attractions was nearby – only thing lacking was the shuttle service to nearby outlets, but we still stay again, thanks to Vickie for booking our reservation…room was just what we needed

The location of the hotel for what we were doing was good. We were going to Adventure Island. The pool area was great as there was a section for kids with a pirate ship. The pool and pool area was clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hot continental breakfast was good, basic but good. The hotel room was really our issue. The dead bolt didn't work, the bathtub needed an update. The carpet was disgusting. I wouldn't let my family walk around barefoot, nor would I allow any of our belongings to be set on the floor. There was a large red stain on the floor beside one of the beds, along with lots and lots of other stains on the carpet. The beds however were very comfortable. The walls were very thin. Could hear lots of people partying in the rooms on both sides of us. They have free wireless internet, however in the two nights that we stayed there I had to have them reboot the router 3 times. Other then the dirty floors I would recommend this hotel.

This is an old hotel and you feel like you are staying at an old hotel. The pool area is nice BUT there is no poolside bar or bar at this hotel as the description of the hotel states... but it is surprising that the pool area is so nice with the hotel being old and in the condition it is. The coffee pot in the room didn't work. The surrounding area isn't nice at all that the hotel is in. There are a few restaurants in the area if you want to eat and grab a drink. I was looking forward to a hotel bar to grab a nightcap at but not here. Unless you are ok with a 40 year old hotel for a night I'd look elsewhere... it was one of the cheaper hotels... and you get what you pay for.

Nice comfy rooms.......simple, not fancy, but suoerb for the price! the pool and the garden area were superb! Complimentary breakfast is a great deal as well as coffee, tea at any time. Nice lobby and gracious staff. Thanks. I'll come back.

Was a nice place to stay very convienent to all things we needed. Has a beautiful pool & hot tub. Out side was very appealing & fun. Nice hot breakfest buffet, enjoyed it very much. Treated very well.

Filthy carpeting & ceramic tile. Only large, horizontal surfaces (desk top & nightstand) were dusted. Anything low (like chair rungs) or high (like lamps) hadn't been dusted in years! Dirt & dead bugs stuck in broken lampshade. Air conditioner leaked & soaked the carpeting. Late night noise from other units. They did change our room for the 2nd night 'cause of the soggy carpet. 2nd room was a little cleaner, but had more mold in the bathroom. We'll never stay @ a Clarion again. Common areas looked slightly better but had very dusty plants & decorative items; veneers popping off planter boxes; old, tired furniture that needed refinishing & reupholstering. Breakfast was worse than mediocre -- with 7 cold cereals to choose from, all were sugared (frosted)!

CARPET IS DIRTY PROPERTY NEED UPGRADE

It is close to Busch Gardens but not the best option to stay. The rooms smell and the beds are not that comfortable. People asking you for money at the hotel's parking lot. The price isn't bad but i rather to pay a few more for a better place.

Hotel is rundown. Staff not to friendly. Will not stay here again.

Not as bad as some of the other reviews suggest. My room was clean, staff was friendly, and there was a TGIFridays adjacent to the hotel which was nice. Be aware that the shuttle only runs hourly, and seems to fill up, so plan accordingly. I was only there for a short time so i didn't take advantage of the pool but it looked very nice.

Beautiful huge pool, oldfashioned small Bathrooms

I choose the Clarion because it was very convenient for me. Close to the mall, resturants and the University. Also i was able to park right in front of my door. What wasnt convenient was the fact that they didnt have a dvd player. After a long day of being out and about i wanted to watch a movie but couldnt because there wasnt a dvd player on the premise.

For the prize of the hotel and location to Busch Gardens, it was great. Had no problems and the check-in and out was easy. It did have a nice restaurant on site which was nice.

The location is great , The hotel is nice outside but the rooms are old and the odor inside is terrible. The breakfast is horrible.

This is a nice hotel with a great breakfast I have stayed here before when going to Bush Gardens. This stay was only just so so I was disapionted in the up keep of the rooms, My room was very musty smelling we had to buy some air freshener just to make it better. Also the carpit is very old and dirty as well as the walls were in need of paint. Over all it is OK but more of what I would exspect of a buget type hotel!!

I BOOKED FOR TWO NITES BUT AFTER ONE NIGHT I HAUL MY SELF OUT OF THERE, OLD TV'S NASTY BATH ROOMS HAIR IN MY BED

I was pleasantly surprised by my room, having never stayed in a Clarion Hotel. The staff was nice & the breakfast was great (eggs, sausage, toast, hashbrowns, bagels, cereal, etc.) The only complaint I may have is that it was a little noisy. I had a room on the first floor, facing the parking lot. When people walked by pulling luggage with wheels it could get loud. Perhaps a interior facing room would have been quieter. I would recommend this hotel, especially at this price.

close to alot of stores no need to drive everything there from restuarants,grocery stores and department stores even the mall. Fives minutes to Busch Gardens and USF.

We stayed here because it was close to Busch Gardens and they offered shuttle service. The staff was not eager to please. First instance: While eating breakfast in the cafe area I complained to the front desk regarding the maintenance man scraping window decorations off with a sharp object (NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD). They laughed, and the maintenance man continued for the next 30 minutes unaware of the situation. Second instance: The shuttle driver offered to pick us up earlier from Busch Gardens and stated that all we needed to do was call. We called at approximately 3:20 and were told 'second hand' from one of the desk staff that he'd come at 4:00. The hotel room was uncomfortable and poorly maintained. Paint was chipping off the walls in the bathroom, there were marks/holes in the walls. I also had to move furniture around in the room and unplug appliances and lamps because there were no open outlets. The heater was unbearable - it would warm the room to 80 degrees, cut the heat, and then let the room cool off to 65 before kicking on again. My wife and I had a very difficult time sleeping on the rock of a mattress because of this. We were very excited to return home and sleep in our own bed the next night. I will definitely seek better accommodations next time we are in the area. I will never stay here again.

I stayed in the hotel for one night, so we could go to Busch Gardens, the only thing about the room is the rug needs to be cleaned or changed otherwise everything was great, pool was clean, room was clean, STAFF was excellent, breakfast was good, the only thing is the shuttle to Busch Gardens need to leave earlier and pick us up later NOT 10 am-5 pm maybe have more shuttle times. I would stay there again.

Love the hotel for the grandkids! Please get some heat in the kids pool! They love it but the water is to cold to get into.

Stayed for 3 nights....was very satisfied. I have stayed at other hotels in the area and found this one to be one of the best. The pool area is wonderful....heated pool. Great place to stay for visiting Busch Gardens or the university.

the room smelled musty and carpets were clean. they advertised cafe in hotel. No, the cafe was only opened the a.m. and didn't look appealing. The front desk persons were rude and when I called for a wake up call, the man hung up on me. He was too busy.

1) shower squeeked whenever the water was on; plug in the tub was loose and kept falling shut, not allowing water to empty during the shower 2) not enough blankets, called front desk to have more sent to room & they would not sent anyone, I had to go pick it up myself. 3) had problems connecting to wifi

I travel cheap on soccer tournaments. So I am used to 2 star and cheap hotels. First time I used Clarion since La Quinta is more expensive in the same location. And wow, please clean or replace the carpet already! The sheet? It looks like re-used! Or at least use clorox to whiten it again. There were "tenants" outside their rooms holding beers and just chillin. The staffs were playing with the golf carts as if they are in Nascar race. Breakfast is very good. So no, try another hotel.

The surrounding area was great. We were able to walk to restaraunts next door. Room could have been cleaner, but hotel staff was very friendly.

the breakfast was great. nice friendly staff in cafe. the carpet in our room was very dirty. we kept socks on our grandchild at all times because his feet got so dirty. pool was nice. we asked for a chair for my husband to sleep in because of sleep apnea and one was brought to our room before we returned. The fire alarm awoke us and we evacuated the room. the alarm went off 3 times. We never were given the all clear to return to our room. we had to contact the hotel staff ourselves to see if we could return to our room. We stayed 2 nights. When we arrived the microwave was dirty and never was cleaned during our stay.

My family and I wee satisfied with the hotel room. It was clean, no smell and very good location. I will stay there again. The hotel rate very reasonable. I recommend it.

The only reason I would recommend people to stay at this hotel is if they are doing a college tour at one of the near by colleges and is not staying long. The decor needs to be updated, the bathroom looked as if it was dirty, there was a dampness on the floor that made the room have a smell. The breakfast was ok, and the pool was nice and large. Other than that, I would rather drive a distance for a cleaner hotel.

Rooms were very dated and plain, good hotel just to stop and sleep a night but not a whole vacation. Breakfast was terrible,

Prior to our stay Oct. 7th thru 9th 2011, we had stayed 3 previous trips and the facility and service was excellent. We make 4 trip a year to the Shriners Hosp, for Children and felt that we had found a 'permanent' location for these visits. The children the pools, we love the location. This last trip was a big disappointment. We changed rooms due to roaches (in the bed). The bathroom floor had an inch of filth in the corners and the carpet was nasty, and the room stank. We were moved to another room with no hastle, but it was not much improved from the first. Carpet and floors were dirty and the room still had an unclean odor. If my grandson (who has autism) did not have such as issue with change we would have checked out and moved to our previous hotel that is not as conveniently located and doesn't have the childrens' play pool. We will not stay at this location on future trips.

Good Time really I recommend 100% Clarion Hotel

Unkept, awful paint, bathroom very old. Toilet leaked. Overpriced

Clarion is confortable but is not a 3-star hotel. The compliamental breakfast is not worth the extra 10 bucks. Room and overall faciality needs a up-grade Their is better places near by..
