Was told that all 1st flr rms were fullc. Parked in a nearly empty lot, & entered (@ 11:15 pm) through a door that was supposed to be locked @ 11 p.m. (and wasn't), saw a note on the door to the 1st flr, asking for patience during remodeling--from all appearances, both inside & out, there were NO rms occupied on the 1st flr. On 2nd flr found stairwell door--bearing a note saying that, for fire safety, door was to remain closed @ all times--open w/a doorstop, & so it remained thru my checkout the next day. Room was nice & clean, w/ a comfortable chair/ottoman, but the bed was so unbearably hard that I considered sleeping on the floor instead. When I entered the room, phone was blinking w/ a message, which turned out to be a very old one, & impossible to erase (& stop the big red light from blinking). In addition, the alarm clock would not set; the auto message system finally took my wakeup request, but seemed to think the month was May (it was January) -- & so never went off; a call to the front desk to request a wakeup call was unanswered. Thank goodness for the alarm on my cell phone, or I might have missed the barebones free breakfast: cold cereal, lukewarm coffee, orange juice, & waffles. No yogurt, no fruit, no healthful baked goods or way to toast/warm anything. Truly awful. Even the vending machine was devoid of anything healthful to eat -- hoped for, @ least, some trail mix or a granola bar. This place was not the cheapest room I considered, but it should have been.

very good

It was ok. Tv was broken when we came in. Only found one bug. Hotel was pretty clean, bathroom clean. Average hotel.

bed, tv, shower. No HBO.

worked for our needs

I usually prefer to stay in a nicer hotel, however I needed a place to stay for the "Corvettes at Carlisle" event at the fairgrounds and the Red Roof was the only hotels I found that still had rooms available. This looks like an older hotel, possibly used to be a Holiday Inn or other but has seen better days. The carpets, furnishings, etc were old & well used although everything looked fairly clean. The continental breakfast was OK was but missed the usual yoghourt & oatmeal. The management and staff were very nice. If I go again next year, I will try to book earlier at better hotel, further away if needed.

It was the worst Hotel stay ever! The hotel was in extremely poor condition; the a/c stopped working about 10PM and we had to ask to be moved to another room. That room was not prepped for guests, the bathroom was filthy, the ceiling tiles in the BR were covered in mold and mildew; that a/c unit did not work well; the smell in the room was moldy; the toilet had a mold/mildew ring around the inside of the bowl, and the toilet kept "running" and was very noisy all night. Please do not recommend this type of accommodation again or to another traveler!

Kind of dirty and smelly, but I would rather pay this price than a ton more since we were just in and out.

Hotel was not clean,pool had no water.

room was alright, had a non-smokeing room that reaked of smoke. wi-fi kept going in and out. great otherwise

We stopped on our way to Gettysburg and were satisfied with the condition of the hotel. Our room was clean and in good shape.

Bathroom was a little dirty, hallways and room smelled a bit musty. AC so loud as to prevent sleep (but cooled room quickly). Staff was helpful if slow. Breakfast too basic....no yogurt or pastries or toast or fruit or juice (Tang type beverage only alternative to coffee -- and no decaf).

The staff was welcoming and pleasant, the price was right on budget, and the location is very convenient. The room I got, however, is a different story. I was enveloped in mustiness as soon as walked in, and awoke the next morning congested from recycled hotel air. The shower still had the previous guest's used bar of soap in it. The wallpaper was peeling off and discolored in some places (though the lighting in the room could have caused the dicolorations). The wallpaper was actually held up by push pins in one place. There was also another safety issue concerning a broken outlet cover. Thankfully, it was just me, just one night, and I wasn't paying for it. I've seen good reviews, so I suspect I just got a raw deal. The only reason I don't give it a 1 star is because the location was nice, and the staff were very nice, too.

Room was spacious, clean and very quiet for the price. Even had a continental breakfast. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
