The hotel is the old Holiday Inn. Rooms were clean. We stayed in the south tower. Was not easy finding the elevators. Rooms were clean and smelled fresh. I hope with the name Wyndham, they do major remodeling. The view was beautiful, looking at the USS Midway and the other ships. I would stay here again in a pinch like we did this time.

The bathroom door was a frosted glass sliding door. Every "noise" could be heard and when you were getting in and out of the shower your silhouette is visible. I was sharing the room with a non family member and it was embarrassing. We felt we had to go down and use the lobby bathroom for "serious business". My daughter made us turn the TV up loud just so we wouldn't hear her go. The hotel wanted to charge extra for everything like getting a fridge in our room, yet our other friends room came with one without them paying extra. You have to pay a lot every day for parking and the stalls were so narrow I couldn't park my SUV without folding in my mirrors and having everyone get out before I parked. I will never stay there again.

Great all around

I know other reviews complain about the trains/planes, but just turn the A/C fan on, get a room on an upper floor facing the bay, and you still get a good night's sleep at a hotel that has an excellent location, especially considering that the few areas they are not close to are easily reachable by using their free shuttle service (including pick-up/drop-off at the airport). Happy hour at the connected pub, with multiple draft beer, or house wine, choices is a bonus.

The location was perfect for my weekend getaway with a nice view to add to it. Very close to the airport. You can see and hear the planes coming in, but you do get a nice view of the bay. I was only disappointed that there was no Jacuzzi, and that I had to pay $24 to park overnight in the garage. Other than that this place was nice.

Close proximity to the harbor and little italy make it ideal for a home base if you're spending a weekend downtown.

Simply we would stay here again without question!

The hotel is conveniently located to several attractions and all within walking distance: Little Italy, USS Midway (museum), Gaslamp District, Starbucks. About a 15-20 minutes drive to La Jolla, Coronado Island, major shopping centre (Midway). Our room was very clean with large patio doors opening to a balcony facing the water. Very nice to watch the sunset! I understand the Wyndham has recently taken over the former Holiday Inn hotel and this may explain the few glitches: we requested an iron early one morning to attend a business meeting and the staff had not showed up 30 minutes later (off to meeting with wrinkled shirt). We requested an iron, again, with two wine glasses later the same day from one of the front desk clerk- again, it never came and we had to make a second request. An hour later, Housekeeping staff showed up with an iron only and no wine glasses. Inter-hotel communication seems poor if non existent. Breakfast amenities - a small counter near the lobby - is abysmal in its selection. Room service for breakfast (limited menu) is available but overpriced. We inquired about a fridge in our room to keep breakfast items and it was $10/day. Outrageous considering the hotel provides no decent breakfast service: the fridge should be free of charge. Might not be optimum for families with children. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay and would book a room again at this hotel.

Nice stay but very short

This place looks much nicer in the pics. I ended up paying 170$ for one night when I could have had a sweet somewhere else for 220$ I'd spend the extra money next time. The one nice thing was all the rooms have a balcony and u have u make sure u get a view or u may as well stay at motel 6 lol. All in all it was a every average experience. I have stayed at other windahm hotels that were much nicer than this one

Well first thing our key didnt work, had to wait for someone to let us in. The beds are very hard little pillows and not enough blankets then to find we were double charged by hotels. Com snd then Wyndham that took time out our day to get resolved. Other than that the view was pretty but I won't stay again

room was old and drab. Noisy due to location on main road. not up to expectations.

this Wyndham San Diego Bayside is a new wyndham location but NOT a new hotel. if i am not mistaken this used to be a holliday inn hotel a years ago. The Wyndham staff has definitively perked this place up though. our room was great we had a n ocean view room with the length of the wall being glass and a small balcony with chairs and a table to relax and enjoy the evening before diner. only "bad" thing was there was no mini fridge or microwave in the room which made leftover and or midnight snacks a room service only..

I was quite happy with my recent stay at the Wyndham. First off, I must say that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The building seems a bit dated but fairly well maintained. The room also has a mix of old and new.... perhaps during the conversion from the former hotel chain. The bed was not the best especially since I had just come from three days at the Grand Hyatt. The view on the 10th floor was great overlooking the bay and the Star of India. A short few blocks bring you to Little Italy, and in another direction to the USS Midway. Airport is close by but air traffic/noise was not an issue. I would definitely stay there again.

The outside of the hotel looks a little shabby but our room on the 14th floor overlooking downtown was just great. We loved sitting out on the balcony. The bathroom looked newly remodeled. We asked the front desk for extra towels and a sewing kit and they were brought to our room within 10 minutes. The location is the best. We walked to the gaslamp at night and little Italy during the day. I would stay here again. It's the perfect place to stay if you're planning to be out and about.

Great hotel, wonderful service. Parking is decent if in early for the night. Only downfall is construction going on next to hotel, looks to be completed in the next month. If you are not sleeping in past about 8 should not be an issue. Great pool, great room, great location and nice price!

San Diego is a wonderful place to vacation! The weather was perfect, not to hot, not to cold. The Wyndham just recently acquired this property, it was the Holiday Inn on the Bay, the rooms were old and in need of remodeling, the air conditioner was not working in our first or second room, we were given a fan to help cool our room. The Hotel staff very nice and professional and apologetic regarding the air issue,but overall we enjoyed our stay and will come back and stay at the Wyndham

This hotel is in walking distance to everything In downtown and is mins away from the ferry to Coronado. It also has a free zoo shuttle, which made for a great day!

everything was very good but the bed mattress was so old we had problem sleeping and our back was hurt nice hotel nice area good service bed too old the spring from the mattress not very friendly. it was my honey moon i would of stay longer but the bed condition made me go to an other hotel. thanks for asking .

ARRIVE AND CHECK IN TO THE HOTEL. WALK IN TO MY ROOM BATHROOM AND THERE WAS WATER ALL OVER THE FLOOR. IT APPEAR LIKE THE WATER WAS COMMING FROM THE WALL OR FROM THE ROOM NEXT TO. COMMENTED TO THE FROM DESK, BUT I DID NOT SEE ANYONE COME BY TO CHECK IT OUT. AT TIME OF CHECK OUT MADE THE COMMENT TO THE FRONT DESK.

Liked the place and location. Walls a bit thinwhich is fine if you have nice neighbors.

Liked it better when it was a Holiday Inn service was better as were the ammenities. Its in a good location if you want to be downtown. I don't think I'll stay there again. $22.00 for tight parking is way to much.

If it weren't for my sleeping pills the fog horn that went off from 1am-2am each night and the very very thin walls would have kept me up. The hotel has a beautiful ocean view, a pretty decent restaurant attached and a yummy deli next door. I would go back only if I brought more sleeping pills and ear plugs. The hotel was clean, had friendly service and a nice pool/fitness center. It is walking distance to Little Italy (10 min walk).

Overall, it was a nice hotel. The rooms weren't very clean and our bathroom smelled like urine. There's so an unseen cost of parking in the hotel parking lot that is 22$ a day, which was very disappointing. The overall friendliness of the staff was somewhat disappointing, as well.

The beds were very uncomfortable, the air conditioning didn't cool the room, it was alot of outside noise, and the whole room had a feeling of shabbiness. We stayed for an event and when we tried to straighten out a problem with parking billing, no one even tried to be helpful. Between the area construction and cruise ship events, traffic is a nightmare. Best choice is to self park off the Pacific Highway side (the walk to the room from self parking and valet is just about the same anyway, although you will only save $2.00). Very disappointing for $170 a night (the same room others were charged $110 for). We will not stay at this property again. Location and the happy hour food at the bar are the only good things.

I don't think you should have to pay that much for parking when your a guest

MY WIFE AND I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER WYNDHAM UNLESS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER OPTION. YOUR HOTEL IS OUTDATED AND SERIOUSLY NEEDS HAVE SOME PROFITS PUT BACK INTO IT; EXAMPLES: THE TELEPHONE DID NOT WORK VERYWELL AND CUT-OFF; THE CIELING IS STILL THAT COTTAGE CHEESE USED IN THE 70'S. THE SERVICE WAS FATAL: I HAD TO LET THE DISABLED PHONE RING FOR 5-MINUTES UNTIL SOMEONE AT THE FRONT DESK ANSWERED; THE COKE MACHINE IN THE HALL WHICH CHARGES 2 DLRS A DRINK THREATENED TO ROB THE MONEY I PUT INTO IT; WE WERE TWO ADULTS AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TOWELS WHICH HAD TO BE REQUESTED TWICE. YOU CHARGED OUTRAGEIOUSLY FOR ROOM SERVICE WHICH WAS 3-QUEZADILLAS AND TWO FRUIT DISHES; I GOT BETTER SERVICE AT THE LOCAL PIZZA PLACE FOR 12% OF WHAT YOU GUYS CHARGED FOR GREASIER FOOD. THE COST OF THE ROOM, FOR THE SIZE AND LOOK OF THE ROOM WHICH WAS NOT INSULATED FROM THE COLD SEA AIR ACCROSS THE STREET WAS NOT WORTH THE PRICE PAID. SOMEONE IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB OF INSPECTING WHAT THINGS NEED TO BE CHANGED AND UPGRADED--ESPECIALLY IF YOU TOUT YOURSELVES AS A RESORT, ON THE BAY "BAYSIDE" HOTEL. SUB-PAR SERVICE AND TOO EXPENSIVE: THIS HOTEL AND ITS MANAGMENT IS MORE THE QUALITY OF A MOTEL 6 BUT WITHOUT THE HONOR OF BEING ECONOMICAL. THE ONLY POOR MEMORY OF MY STAY IN SAN DIEGO (WHICH I HAVE STAYED MANY TIMES) WAS YOUR HOTEL. NOT WORTH IT.

hotel is just ok-rooms need updating. The first room they put us in was not made up. Bed was not made, room had a sour odor, and carpet was filthy with stains all over the floor. We requested a new room and while it was clean it was smaller than the first room and was in the front of the hotel so it was louder. Location was perfect for what we wanted to do while in San Diego. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Nice view, great service and staff. But the grounds and the rooms need a little help, plus with all the city construction and street work, its pretty noisy and hard to get to and park. But still great trip for a great price, mahalos.

Though in decor the Wyndham Bayside shows it's Holiday Inn roots, it's a well-run hotel in a convenient location for those who want to explore San Diago's attractions. It's close to a trolly stop which will take you from Santee to San Isidro, and the hotel's courtesy vans not only take one to and from the airport but also down town and to the world famous San Diago zoo multiple times a day. Nice bay-side views with balconies. In-house restaurant and other's near by (but your best bet is Old Town or the Thai place in the gaslight district).

Had 6 of us stay over to do delayed flights. Staff were great and rooms were fine.

It was lovely in the lobby and the gift shop had nice, high quality merchandie. The room was not as nice, the sliding glass door didn't shut completely and were falling off the tracks. The bathroom needed new floors and shower heads. The most annoying things were the foghorn that beeped EVERY seven seconds, and the faulty heating vent that made rattling sounds about ten minutes. When I complained to Zirvinia (sp?) at the front desk, she couldn't care less and never so much as said an apology for my lack of a decent night's sleep on my layover. Not impressed and don't recommend this hotel.

Went to a meeting at the convention center. This was an excellent value with decent access to the CC

Excellent location. Quite a bit of noise from other guests; St Patrick's weekend might of contibuted to the rowdy people? Not as nice as expected for a Wyndham location and a bit more expensive then you would think when you see the facilities. It used to be a Holiday Inn and it still has a lot of Holiday Inn decorations/identifications in the room.

This hotel is super convenient for taking mass transportation. The hotel staff is probably the nicest and most helpful I've ever encountered. The room was fine. A bit on the small side and awkwardly laid out, but it was fine. Nice linens, but pillows too soft. The balcony was really nice, too. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

It was really nice. I especially appreciate the service Micheal at the lobby gave. His service was excellent. Keep good employee such as him there.

We were thrilled and hope that you maintain the good rates inspite of the recent accusation from Holidy Inn on the Bay. Also feel you should have left the name of the hotel as Wyndham on the Bay instead of Wyndham Bayside....just my opinion.

This hotel is converting to a Wyndham hotel, so this review may not be accurate about future stays.Good location, close to trolley stops, walking distance to many restaurants. Clean rooms, but sliding door seals leak letting in wind and street noises. No refridge or microwave. Internet connection speeds were very erratic, generally quite slow (< 1MBps). Elephant and Castle restaurant is overpriced for mediocre breakfast selections. Friendly and helpful staff.. Dinners are OK. Check-in time was very slow due to lack of staff.
