non smoking room reaked of smoke and had cigarette burns in the curtains, there seemed to be black mold on the ceiling and the room was very musty smelling. It was so filthy we wouldn't even drink the water in the room. Nor would we even use the shower.

I can overlook the very old condition of the blankets and furniture...I can overlook the painfully springy bed, the lights that didnt work and their unwillingness to give us extra towels (family of 4 in one room, my son got the stomach flu and they couldnt be bothered to give us extra clean towels!) hell I can even over look the musky smell you typically find in an old un-cared for hotel but I can not except a hotel employing thieves and then refusing to take any responsibility! Just before leaving we had our room cleaned, that night we packed and discovered some things missing, the most important being my daughters new mp3 player. The children were not allowed to take them from the hotel, we tore the room apart, moved all the furniture. It was gone! We complained at the desk and the guy told us to wait for management. We put in a complaint and left our cell # (since we were checking out at 2am) When we finally heard from them they pretended not to have heard of our "stolen" items and then insisted that we must have lost it and spoke down to us like we were idiots! Never again will I take a discount over quality

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool and spa were very clean and our kids had a wonderful time as well during our visit! We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning on staying in Milford, CT. We will definitely stay here again!

ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE, HOWEVER INTERNET EXTREMELY SLOW AND VERY WEAK SIGNAL

The hotel was quite dingy. There were people yelling and fighting in there rooms around us, I think they were live in residents. I would not return nor recommend this hotel to anyone. The pool was also closed when we were there

Very good for what I needed: a place to stay overnight.

Good place to stay, comfortable , clean and close to what we wanted. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Not very clean seems like a welfare hotel

The service was great they brought a refrigerator to my room rather that having me move to another room. The room was clean with fresh towels everyday. my remote to the TV did not work when i arrived and they fixed it immediately--good stay they were great i 'm coming back

The hotel wasnt bad but Ive stayed at better place for the same price.

The fridge needed to be defrosted and cleaned. We stayed 2 days I had to request for house keeping because the odor from the fridge was unbearable. The hot tub and pool was nice. I enjoyed the shopping in the area.

The environment of the hotel seemed unsafe. People came and left different sections of the hotel for which seemed to be for illegal activities.

Hotel was clean, the pool, however, would not be recommended. You can smell the chlorine as soon as you walk in the lobby door. The room was clean, everything worked and I would recommend this to friends.

Cheap price that's great for a few hours stay, if you know what I mean. Evidence of this in the next room. Walls are paper thin. Stinks in the lobby, hallways, elevator, and room. Bedspread had stains, lights didn't work. Just nasty!

Let's face it, this is a cheap place to crash for the night. The non-smoking room smelled heavily of air freshener, and the smoke detector had a plastic bag covering it (which means that a previous guest had been smoking and they didn't want to set it off). The room was clean, but dingy and run-down. There was a burn mark on the carpet, and the chairs were stained. The elevator sounded like it was on it's last leg, making loud banging noises when stopping. I never tried the pool and was unable to find the workout room. The room had a small fridge and a table. There was WiFi, but it worked only about 1/2 the time due to heavy rains (they said the internet connection is through a satellite dish). On the other hand, the price was low for the area. If they fixed it up, they would charge more. It was a good place to sleep for a couple of nights while doing business in the area.

The room was clean and comfortable. Quiet and relaxing. Close to main attractions in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family and certainly will go back to the Howard Johnson Hotel in Milford, Ct, whenever I plan another trip to NY and vecinity. The lady at desk was friendly. hallways were musty, elevator was creaky, ice machine on 5th floor didn't work, several light bulbs in room needed to be changed. Owner should be embarrassed about poor conditions.

This was our second visit to this hotel. It has improved slightly since we were last here in August 2010. (No more urine smell in the elevator! YES!) The room was fine. It was a non-smoking room but did have a slight old smoke smell. Housekeeping didn't come at all our first full day there which was sort of frustrating. When we asked at the front desk we were told to just put our trashcan outside the door but that was all. We found that very odd, but are fully capable of making our own beds so didn't mind much. The other days it was fine and housekeeping did come and clean everything. The pool seemed really low on chlorine which was a bit disconcerning as well. The location, rates being so low and the fact that they have an indoor pool will probably bring us back again for another short visit next year to visit friends. Plus my kids love the novelty of having a Friendly's restaurant connected to the hotel. (The well-known not-so-kid-friendly chain restaurant next door went unnoticed by them...You'll know it when you see the one I'm talking about.)

Didn't expect much more than a clean room for the price. Pleasantly suprised. Indoor pool, hot tub, mini golf. Great for the kids. Fridge didn't work, though. Called and the replacement barely worked. Still, would stay again.

great price but they did away with the breakfast and seems as though every sunday am they drain the hot tub would have loved a good soak sunday am but second time stayed sat to sunday no tub

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews on here, but we were very happy with our stay! Yes- it is an older hotel, but it is nice, the rooms were great, the staff was all very nice, and we did not have a single problem! We will likely stay here again in the future. The price is excellent for the area and the hotel was much better than I expected!

The hotel was reasonably clean but it does show its age a bit. The internet signal was so bad that it was painful to use. I certainly wouldn't stay there if I had work to do that required internet. All in all the rate was reasonable and at some point you get what you pay for. The indoor pool was nice.

This hotel s very convenient to I95/I91/Merritt Pkwy. It is with-in walking distance of major mall and several eating places. That being said non-smoking rooms that have wholes in the sheet from a smoker ? Non-smoking rooms trapped in the same hall-way as smoking rooms. By trapped I mean they have doors all over closing in about 10 rooms grouped together . It's like walking around a basement. Nothing is handicap accesible and everything is quite a walk. Elevator extremely small so expect to take luggage up a little at a time if need be. Around 3:30 - 4:00 P.M. a whole bunch of people pull up in cars outside the pool area walk right pass the front desk and have a free for all in the pool area. CLEARLY NOT GUEST as no one goes to a room but from car to pool with food and questionable language. Front desk staff says not a word. Everything in the rooms need updating including the loose way the maids make the bed. Let's face it if the price of hotels had not sky rocketed NO ONE would stay here. Certainly not me. I give the hotel a 1 over all as the 4's only have to do with location. there are other hotels in the area worth checking in to.

Price is good, but hotel really needs updating. Its still very 90s decor.

Bedding had many burn holes in it. Room AC did not work and I had to move to the other end of the hall- not very convenient or conducive to writing a glowing review about the hotel. Check in was lengthy.

This hotel isn't the greatest. Holes in the wall. Roaches, small but yet they were there. Our blankets smelled like pee and after getting upset they finally moved us to another room. And that room was bigger and better but the refrigerator was old and moldy and you had to hold the cord to the overcrowded socket. But the upside to the location is its close to the mall and different restaurants and about 10-15 from Yale.

The bed sheets were very dirty the ac didnt work .I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE

to be very honest this hotel tops my list of worst hotels ever. i specifically reserved a non smoking room but the room i got smelled like smoke and the whole hallway of the hotel smelled likewise. the refrigerator was so old i couldn't even put anything in it. i think the management need a makeover cos its definitely my first and the last stay at this hotel.

it is not maintained well, such horrbile smell that surrounds the hotel esspcailly the hotel elevators the smell is unbarable

I was excited to see how conveniently located this hotel was but that all changed upon entering. The odor was intense, cleanliness lacking and the pool had a green film on the liner and surface. I was surprised when the "residents" of the hotel were warning me of impending weekend parties and lack of cleanliness. I was unpleasantly surprised when my room smelled of marijuana and teh towel rack came off the wall when I reached for a towel. The manager was kind enough to offer a change in rooms - but that wasn't necessary. We left and stayed with friends in the area. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay at this location - unless you are looking to punish friends and family members who come into the area.

I found that the room was gross. The shower walls had hair stuck all over them. The pillow cases were yellowed and the pillows were very used. It was a no smoking section and the whole floor stunk of cigarette smoke not to mention that our room reeked of cigarette smoke. I would definitely not recommend.

The first day I got there there was a spider in the tub. The walls had stains. The bathroom was stained and the toilet seat was gross. The only thing that was nice was the pool and hot tub feature but the hot tub had brown stuff in the bubbles and the pool didnt look clean. The pictures are definitely deceiving I would never recommend this place to anyone it was just a great location for where I was trying to be.

To begin with the hotel has an awful smell. The elevator going up to the second floor was very scary. It made a kind of banging noise. I was upset that the layout of the hotel was such a maze. It was very confusing to find our way around. Especially with 2 small children. Our room was horrible and also smelled bad. There was a huge water stain on the ceiling and the rugs were old and dirty. The sheets were stained and full of holes and the walls were cracked and peeling. I felt dirty while I was there because the room was so nasty.
