Howard Johnson - Princeton/Lawrenceville - لورينسفيل

We stayed at HoJos becasue it was close to Rider University. It was clean, comfortable, and Michael's Diner was delicious. Aside from that, there were some sketchy characters hanging around..young girls waiting for middle aged men and entering rooms and leaving during the afternoon with other men...but they didn't bother us and everything was fine. I would definitely stay there again.

The best choice for budget-minded students who have to visit Princeton for reviews, etc, after their residence requirement. Must rent a car at EWR because there is no shuttle. A shuttle would make this hotel ideal.

Not a fancy hotel, but room was clean. Appreciated easy wireless access. Good price for a tight budget. Walls were very thin. Could hear people in adjacent rooms too well.

This is a basic hotel, it isn't pretty, but it's fairly clean and well maintained, even if it is rough around the edges. You stay here if you have to, not for fun.

The hallway carpet desperately needs to be changed (very old and dirty) and the surrounding neighborhood is not very clean. No tables for continental breakfast. Breakfast was very minimal and not good at all (2 kinds of cereal, coffee, and orange juice only). Can't find any decent restaurants around. However, my room was comfortable and clean. Overall, the quality is below par and definitely not recommended to any traveler. Sorry.

The hotel looks very rundown, do not trust the pictures. There was a dog staying in one room. This hotel possibly doubled as a shelter since there were people staying there as tenants and not visitors. Some of the locks on the doors to outside didn't lock, so anyone could walk into the hotel. Again, do not stay here, pay an extra $20-$30 a night and stay somewhere that's cleaner, safer, better well lit, and more secure.

Room was cozy. A little dated and the sink had a slow drain, but overall it suited the purpose. It appeared the pool was closed though the weather was hot.

Our pass keys wouldn't work most of the time. They said we could not have them near our cell phones or credit cards. I have never had this problem before. When I got new cards they did not work on the outside doors. I got a maid to let us in to our room and complained to the desk about the problem. Their solution was to leave the outside doors unlocked. Their advertisement said their pool was open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It was not opened. I felt the manager blamed us for the key problem and was not very nice about it.

Like other reviewers, I chose it for the price and the location, and both needs were satisfied. Rather dirty, dingy, and run-down. Furniture arranged awkwardly in the room, until I realized it was strategically placed to cover damage to the wall. Bed has obvious bow, with the foot arching significantly higher in the air than the rest of the bed. A comically sad little room, but it was cheap and the location was great!

Service desk very helpful

This hotel was a fine example of the fact that you get what you pay for. A bit run down, a minimal breakfast, a passable but far from upscale location. But it was serviceable, and cost $30+/night less than other chains along Route 1 near Princeton.
