Excellent service, very helpful concierge, one block from Metro for $5 bucks a day and 20min access to Hollywood and everything else!

Our stay here was due to a hospital stay for my wife at the Good Samaritan Hospital just a mile away. It was a comfortable walk for me a couple of times a day and the staff made me feel at home each time I returned. I didn't avail myself of the restaurant till the last day - I should have tried it sooner, it was very nice. alan

Boutique hotel, quiet and comfortable. Staff was attentive and the food excellent. I would stay there again!

We stayed here with some friends after seeing a show at the Disney Hall, which is only two blocks up the hill. Very, very convenient! The staff was nice, the bar was nice, beware the hotel parking, though. We parked in a lot down the street, our friends parked at the hotel for a total of about 20 hours and had to pay...$42.75!!! Yikes! Other than that, it was great!

Very nice hotel in a decent area of downtown Los Angeles.

It has all of the charm and elegance that anyone could hope for. Downtown LA. is so under rated. The benefit is that boutique splendor like the Checkers can be for only those in the know. the rooftop pool / jacuzzi really made the experience enchanting

We had a great stay in this hotel. Very freindly staff. Good restaurant and bar. I liked the convenience to everything in downtown. The hotel is exceptionlaly clean and confortable.. I will stay here the next time I visit downtown LA.

Dirty underwear behind the drapes - not something one wants to find!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Super easy check-in, room was lovely and the bathroom was huge. Will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is situated downtown, right across form the Millenium Biltmore, very close to some great restuarants, and reasonably close to the LA Staples Arean, Convention Center. The staff were very nice and friendly. I would most certainly stay there again.

Overall the hotel was very cozy and in a great location in downtown Los Angeles. A few notable spots are within walking distance. My only complaint would be the cost of valet parking considering the poor service. It took nearly 10 minutes just to get my car checked into to valet and about the same to leave in non busy hours.

Nice, older building. Good decor, however you can hear people in hallways. Expensive parking, wasn't informed to valet park car & paid $10 for 1 hour parking. "Skid row" down the block on 6th street. Probably will not repeat.

It is in a business area where everything is catered to the working hours. If this is what you need, the hotel was fine--however--it is nowhere near LA night-life!!

Because it's near the metro station----nearly 10-min walk, it's kind of convenient. Many attractions (Universal Studio, Hollywood Walk of the Fame...) are located along the red line metro, which you can get on through the station near this Hilton Checker. But it still takes me 30 mins or so to take the metro to downtown LA. As to the hotel itself, the service is good, but I think it's short of staff and room. Maybe because I lived there during Christmas, I didn't get my previously booked 2-double-bed room when I checked in early. But they helped me switch to a 2-double-bed one later that day. The service of their staff was good but they seemed to be short of staff, because I could see many customers also faced with the same problem as ours. In addition, compared to other Hilton Hotels I've ever lived in, this Checker seemed to be less clean. But overall, it was still a good experience.

Love this hotel when I'm staying in downtown LA. It's pretty small and the staff is all amazing, from the doormen to the bartenders, they all make you feel welcome. Even the breakfast servers are great!

During my short stay in LA I dropped my wallet outside of the hotel. The staff was patient with me while I completely bugged out. During my deep contemplation of how I was going to fly home 4 days later I recieved a call ..MY WALLET WAS FOUND!! A gentleman returned my valuables to the Hilton and my mind was at complete ease and I was able to continue having a fantastic time 3000 miles away from home.

We had a very nice and helpful greeting on arrival. However, we were refused service in the Hotel restaurant at 9.00 pm. We had to eat in the bar and the server was not able to split the check 4 ways despite the fact that we were all staying at the same Hotel. We were told that the bar would be closing so would not be able to have any more drinks. The server also turned away six other guests for the same reason. I tried to change a $50 Travellers Check the following morning and was not able to do so as the Receptionist didn't have any cash. This is a Hotel with paying guests. Surely you must carry some change?

I attended the Adobe Max Conference this year and despite being 7 blocks away from the conference centre I am really glad I stayed at the Checkers. It wasn't on the conference organized list but it was rated much better than the ones on the list and clearly it was a great choice. I've never slept so well in the past decade, even my super lush custom mattress and feather pillows and duvet at home didn't compare to this bed. I just sank in, the room was very quiet despite having batman being filmed just outside my bedroom window. I enjoyed the walk to the conference centre everyday and got a different breakfast everyday as there were lots of great places to choose from. The staff were great, they let me switch my room when I opted out of the king and wanted a double, they fed-ex'd my clothing to me when I forgot it in the room and they were extremely courteous. The rooms were updated and nicely renovated and although I didn't get to use the rooftop pool as I was exhausted after my conference each day, it looked very inviting. Thanks Checkers HIlton, I hope to get to stay with you again!

Hotels.com said they would let the hotel know it was our 15th wedding anniversary so that the hotel might consider doing something special for the occasion. When we arrived, we found out that the Internet-mentioned Happy Hour (also mentioned by hotels.com) with $4 appetizer plates and drink specials had not existed for a year! On top of it, we were given a room about the size of a postage stamp. When we let the staff know we were disappointed overall,they rallied and gave us a gorgeous room on the 1st floor, and a lovely cheese plate! The hotel could not have been more accommodating, and I would totally recommend them!! The bar also makes the best Cosmos I have ever had in my life! STAY HERE! You will no t regret the old-style hospitality.

The Hilton checkers was a clean quiet hotel. Thier room service breakfast was fabuloius!

Hotel is perfect, friendly and helpful staff. rooms are a little on the small sixe but suited for a short to medium stay. Down Town LA is not what i would call a nice neighbour hood.

Hotel was great overall ... great service from the staff and everything you need. My only complaint was found it a bit noisy in the early morning due to downtown location. (Garbage pick up, buses etc.) Parking is a bit of a pain but that was expected.

Checked in to the hotel at 3pm. One of two rooms was ready (hotel check in is 3pm) so my husband and I had to wait in my daughter's room for luggage and our room. After an hour (4pm) I called the front desk. Our room had been assigned and we went to look but door was open and obviously no housekeeping had been to the room. Waited a half-hour longer...but we had reservations at 5pm before Taylor Swift and needed to change, etc. Finally got a manager on the phone to give us 4 breakfast vouchers (thank you) and a new room. All in all, I would say this is a nice boutique hotel. Pool is not a pool...tiny tiny. Restaurant was great for breakfast and saved us $90 with those vouchers. If you can, get a room that is higher and a corner room which is much larger than a regular king. We stayed on the 6th floor and it was fine. Absolutely request a higher floor and a corner room when you book and you will be happy.

The hotel was clean and neat. A breeze to check in. The location was convenient for Los Angeles (walking distance to Metro and several local sites and restaurants). However, the breakfast had no waiters or service staff, so we ended up just skipping it- additionally, there was no valet service when we arrived, even though the sign was out. We ended up self-parking, but were still charged for the night of valet. Brought it to managements attention, and they reversed the charge. Overall, a very good stay!

I expected to be amazed by the Hilton Checkers. I was torn between The Hilton and another hotel when planning my recent trip to L.A. I chose Checkers based on the reviews by recent guests. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong hotel and learned the hard way. Overall, The Hilton Checkers is not worth the money. Checkers does not even have a vending machine. We had to walk a block away to a store to get something to drink. The bar in the lobby closes at 11:00pm. I was EXTREMELY frustrated and disappointed with the valet service. We would call the front desk for the car. The told us it would be 5 minutes. There was at least three times when it took more than 30 minutes. There was two occassions when we had to remind the staff that we were still waiting for our car. By the last day of our trip, we would call 15 minutes before we were even leaving the room. We got downstairs and realized our car was not there so we walked to Starbucks and back, STILL no car. Unbelievable!

No safe in the room. No mini-bar.

When checking in we got informed that the pool area and rooftop was closed due to a private event. The access to rooftop and pool was the main reason we chose this hotel so we were very surprised that they did not inform us of this in advance. The room was OK, bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a joke, we did not get everything we ordered, the waiter dropped toast on my wife, and we got the bill before we had finished eating..

This was a great hotel- comfortable, great location and the staff was very accommodating. They gave us ideas on where to go as well as how to get there.

This hotel is a real jewel in downtown LA. I already have recommended it to some others. It was quiet, clean, comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Starbucks is across the street and there was great shopping within 3 blocks. It was a great place to stay. I look forward to another trip to LA.

Very efficient and friendly front desk that got us checked in within 5 minutes. Rooms are really clean and comfortable. the only thing was we found a dirty socks under the chair that must be left behind by the previous tennant.

We frequent this hotel because it is close to where I go for business reasons and on pleasure trips close to our friends who live in downtown LA. The hotel welcomes pets and on our pleasure trips we always bring our husky, Sabrina. She is always made a fuss over by the hotel staff and we always feel welcome with her. A wonderful boutique hotel that is near the Public Library park reserved for Sabrina.

Excellent hotel and great value. It w an unseasonably cold LA spring day. So I tried to turn up the heat. No dice. I was freezing in there. One call downstairs, and there was a engineer in my room in 5 minutes. And I was warm and toasty in another 10! Good service.
