lovely hotel, great service, awful awful food

This was definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. My husband and I definitely enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location is perfect, right in downtown, close to everything and the hotel personal is very knowledgeable and helpful. We're looking forward to go back to Amsterdam sometime soon and we definitely know which hotel we'll rent. Highly recommended!

the only problem with this hotel was the noise of the air conditioning in the room (420) The second night we moved for a quieter room (302).

My husband and I spent the weekend in Amsterdam, and we chose to stay here. It was fantastic all the way around. The room was clean and comfortable, and had great views and a balcony of the city. Highly recommend this place, great for a romantic weekend.

We loved the historic quality of this hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated, though a little small. Understandable for Amsterdam, where space is at a premium.

We spent a relaxing weekend at the charming hotel d`europe. Staff was exellent and very friendly. The only minus we give, is that first we were taken to a tiny tiny room in wich we didn`t fit in. Then the room changed to a much more nicer and bigger one but the airconditonig was out of order! We desided to keep the room anyway, and enjoyed our stay.

We stayed only one night, but a great room with Bose Stereo System, Ipad, two flatscreens, Nespresso and so on. Great bed. We loved our stay, and the friendly staff.

We received a very warm welcome upon arrival at 11.30pm on a Wednesday evening and were shown to a modern and comfortable junior suite, having apparently been upgraded to the front of the hotel overlooking the canal. The hotel retains all its age old grandeur mixed with ultra modern facilities. The room was extremely well equipped with an excellent (i.e. lavish) bathroom, which even had a television at the foot of the bath. Excellent room service menu, with efficient and speedy service. Without failure, all the staff were extremely friendly and all spoke perfect English (putting us to shame given our very limited Dutch). I would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to anyone. Although not cheap, it remains excellent value for money in a convenient location by the Flower Market. We spent 4 very happy nights at the hotel and would definitely go back.

The hotel is excellent for service and location. There were only three negatives. Although the breakfast was included in our rate, it was not worth the 32 Euro it would have cost if it had not been included. There was virtually no fruit selection apart from a fruit salad. Only two juices. No smoked salmon, only 3 selections of Cheese in a country which makes cheese. The hotel was not full, but they would not let us check out at 13h00, instead of 12h00. Lastly the hotel is extremely expensive for what you get in return, but it is new, clean and our room was huge. I was also annoyed because hote.com did not reflect the 5% city tax on the confirmation.

great hotel, great location.

great hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam (owned by the Heineken brewing family apparently) and close to all major attractions, entertainment and shopping districts. staff were very friendly and extremely accommodating. Super rooms in the newly renovated masters wing. the only negative was the renovation work which turned the street outside into a building site and meant the waterside restaurant was closed, but the staff made up for this by upgrading us to a bigger suite and as we spent all day out and about we were not disturbed by construction noise. all in all, we were very happy with the Hotel De L'Europe.

Meget hyggelig opphold og fantastisk service. Kort vei til alle severdigheter.

Veldig bra hotell men suveren beliggehet, god standard på alt og uovertruffen service. Var uheldig og fikk et rom hvor jeg ble vekket flere ganger begge netter (helg) av tuting i et lyskryss.

Empfang und Reception waren schnell und sehr professionell .Unsere Zimmer entsprachen von der Einrichtung her dem höchsten Standard.Das Zimmer unserer Töchter hatte einen sehr schönen Blick auf die Gracht.Unser Zimmer dagegen lag anscheinend ueber der Küche und der Essensgeruch war schon störend.Das Abendessen aus der besagten Küche war hervorragend und der Service in der Brasserie schnell und sehr freundlich.Auch wir empfanden dagegen das Frühstück für ein Hotel dieser Klasse als etwas einfallslos.

Fast alles außergewöhnlich gut, iPad im Hotelzimmer, Fußbodenheizung im Bad, sehr gute Pflegeprodukte etc. Einzige kleinere "Mängel": die Klimaanlage/Lüftung könnte leiser sein, der Fitnessraum größer und das Frühstück ist doch recht einfach gehalten. Diese "Mängel" sind nur zu nennen, da der Preis doch so hoch ist, dass alles perfekt sein müsste.

Dette hotel har ALT hvad man kunne ønske sig på en forlænget weekend. Ikke mindre end et fantastisk sted. Personalet er fantastiske. Så søde og rare, altid smilende og der er igenting der ikke kan lade sig gøre. Har man ønsker så spørger man bare så hjælper de. Med ture i byen til transport til lufthavnen. Jeg kan varmt anbefalde dette hotel. Min kæreste og jeg skal selv tilbage igen. Det er måske dyrere end andre hoteller i amsterdam, men du får virkelig noget for pengene og så ligger det lige midt i centrum, der 2 min gang så er du på strøget, 2 min den anden vej er du f.eks ved kanalrundfarten. Maden er helt i top, meget profesionelt personale og med i verdens klasse. Alt i alt. Du får ik noget bedre. KOM AFSTED.....

mit einem besonderen Flair. Das Badezimmer ist wirklich gut beheizbar mit Bodenheizung,- sehr angenehm. Ausgesprochen ruhiges Zimmer und dennoch eine tolle Lage im Zentrum. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist etwas klein, trotzdem gute Auswahl- und freundliches Service mit tollen Blick zur Amstel. Zum Einchecken ist Englisch nicht erforderlich, die sprechen auch Deutsch. Wir können das Hotel wirklich empfehlen, ist sein Geld wert!

Great hotel with all the ammenities one would expect from a 5 star hotel, and they were at the same time able to maintain the personal relationship that to often gets lost in the huge resorte. The staff were very nice, and able to adapt to me and my travelcompanions needs and wishes. They gave exelent advice one dining and nightlife, and knew what you wanted without having to ask to many questions.. Brilliant smokinglounge, and humidor! Tip: dine outside the hotel, the food is good, but there are better restaurantes close by.

Hotel De l'Europe er nok det bedste hotel i Amsterdam. Det er gammelt, men ikke slidt. Derimod har det storhed, skønhed og en service der overgår hvad jeg før har oplevet på et hotel i Europa. Men det har selvfølgelig en pris - og det koster mange penge at bo på hotellet. Men det er det værd!
