The concierge was amazingly knowledgable and helpful -- got us onto a special Reichstad dome tour, suggested wonderful restaurants. Hotel is beautiful -- although the pool alas was not open while we were there due to annual maintence.

I can not say enough on how nice it is at the Kempinski hotel. From the door man, the bell hop( cuitest thing ever), front desk, Richard's cafe and all the people sitting around the outdoor sitting area. Im glad the Sofitel was booked, and when I go back to Berlin, it will be the Kempinski for me. We booked a 5 hour tour and saw alot of the city. Fantastic.

This was my 6th or 7th stay at Berlin's Kempinski, and it never lets me down. Rooms are comfortable and quiet, beds are among the best in the country, and the facilities, such as the pool and the art deco charming restaurant, are the finishing touches. The services is unsurpassed, and this is truly a hotel that shows what 5 stars used to mean. Granted, the city has changed a lot in Kempinski's time, and Ku'Damm is no longer at the center of activities. A lot of the best of Berlin is now in the old East, around Mitte, Hackescher Market and Kreuzberg, making the location of the hotel, once in the heart of everything, a bit removed from the center of the action. But with the Uhlandstrasse station right in front of the hotel (literally) you're never far from anywhere in Berlin. And don't disregard the Charlottenburg and neighboring Schöneberg areas, they definitely have their charms. For some reason, our A/C acted up a bit on our last night, making the room quite warm. We mentioned it to the hotel staff when we checked out, and I'm sure it's fixed by now. I know that next time I'll be going to Berlin, I'll be staying here again.

this is a top rated, famous hotel. however the Ku-Dam is not as lifely as it used to be, the center of the city has moved towards the eastern part of the city. Also just so you know, valet parking is expensive and no other parking is included with your room rate. Breakfast was also not included, however restaurant was excellent and well worth the money. Overall I would stay there again.

We stayed 3 wunderful days in Berlin and this hotell made our stay even better. Great Service, from the front desk, to the man that worked in the poolbar. Everybody we talked to hade a smile to give away :-) I would like to thank this hotell for giving us great value for our money and for making our first trip to Berlin a great success. We are very very happy with this hotell, and have no problems recomending this hotell

A legendary hotel with top service and in the middel of the best shopping street in western Europa. Super service, I will be back in 4 weeks!

Great location, old elegant hotel, clean and tidy. Room was a little small and very basic - no coffee/tea facilities, very basic amenities in bathroom. No bedroom slippers. Bed was comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Starbucks right opposite, subway UBahn very close. Right in the middle of western shopping district. Easy to reach from Schonefeld Airport - get off at Zoological Gardens subway and short walk.

Location: The hotel i very conviently located right next to the U-bahn Zoologischer Garten, which is basically 400 meters away. This means that with a "berlin card" you can explore the city to the fullest and its real easy to reach the regular sites with the U-bahn, that is if you are not enjoying lunch at 6th floor KaDeWee or along the Ku-damm. Hotel: Excellent service, very nice lobby, rooms are really nice and quiet, comfortable beds and admission to a very nice pool area with 3 different saunas are included in the regular hotel price, (try the milkshake in the relaxation area, after a long day out at the museums, perfect!) A word of caution: The only downside is that WIFI is not included and quite expensive (pay by the hour). Breakfast is also not included and is quite expensive, (try the starbucks across the street instead - 40 meters from the main entrence) The hotel is also very decent, but perhaps its in the lower range of 5 star rather than the higher end. But I can highly recommend this hotel, 1. very good value (compared to other major cities) 2. very good facilities, as expected 3. very good location (to explore Berlin from) Enjoy!

We notified front desk at 10:00am about our arrival. We were told that the guests don’t’ check out until noon. I completely understand that. We were given the keys to the room at 2:50pm. I don’t believe it takes 3 hours to get the room ready knowing that we were sitting in the lobby al this time. It was just sluggish on the customer service part.

Amazing hotel, love it and Berlin. We had a suite and an amazing view of Berlin. Bathroom was massive , Breakfast was really really good. 5* hotel and history. Amazing, a must if staying in Berlin. We stayed 3 nights over Xmas, Xmas day was amazing.

Nothing but good to say about this hotel and their staff. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. from a long flight. We were hoping to be able to store our luggage until the afternoon check in. Much to our surprise and delight we were handed the keys to a beautiful room and allowed to move in right away...so started a wonderful stay a the Kempinski Hotel!!

This hotel is not really close to the main sites, but it is within walking distance of the U/S-bahn stop and public transportation. The hotel was comfortable and the staff helpful, but it felt as if the hotel had seen better days. There was a faint smell of sewage in the bathroom (I should note that there appears to be widespread sewer work in this area of Berlin, so this may be a general problem.) The rate we paid for the hotel itself was very reasonable, but the price for breakfast was high (25 Euro/person); since we are not big breakfast eaters, we went out for coffee and rolls instead, but found this much less convenient. Overall, for the price we paid, it was fine, but I will try another more modern hotel in a more central location on our next visit.

Excellent hotel close to the shopping centers of K'Dam. Excellent location for shopping in Berlin.

Wow! The Kempenski on Ku'dam is awesome! Great customer service, comfortable room and a good location. It is expensive but worth it as you're treated like royalty. We did not have any meals due to the costs but other restaurants/fastfood/wurst stands are close by. Our room had 2 toilets - no, it wasn't a bidet!! Bathroom was great with separate tub for soaking and a separate large shower. Well located on Ku'dam - close to the S and U bahns. Can't say enough good things about this place! Will definitely stay at another Kempenski some day!

spent 3 nights in this hotel december enjoyed very much the concerige was so helpfull he recommended restuarants for the 3nights all were excellant the only down side was the pool which was very deep and the same depth all the way around as I am not a strong swimmer I found this off puting also the staff member at pool was void of any personality

Hotel was in a great location and conveniently located half a block from the Ulandstrasse U-Bahn stop. And about a 5-minute walk from the Zoo S-Bahn stop (where the Express train from the airport stops). Staff were helpful and professional. Our original room was on a smoking floor, and upon our request they moved us to a non-smoking floor without any hassles. Our only complaint is that our room (in the older wing) got quite warm at night, even though the heating wasn't on, which we remedied by leaving the window open.

we enjoyed staying at the hotel.the concierge was most helpful. the room location was dissapointing we were awakened at 6am from the drilling outside our room.i will recommend the hotel to my friends.

My only quibble with the hotel is that they charge for wifi. It was 6 Euro an hour, which is ridiculous. Other hotels in Germany offer free wifi, and it seemed awfully cheap for such a fancy place to not offer it free to their guests.

The Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and location ideal as a basis for walking to all key attractions and the shops.(Did 25 miles in 4 days) It is worth the extra to enjoy the restaurants of the hotel but there are many eating opportunitites near by.

The hotel requires immediate refurbishing. It is out dated. Furniture is old and missing color and life.

Grand Old Hotel - a bit worn but cozy. I got a great weekend deal so if you have to pay the full price than make sure you are in the new wing at least. Anyway we stayed in the old wing in a junior suite with breakfast included. Stay away from the restaurant for lunch or dinner. My friend took the waiters suggestion and I picked my own. Terrible! You will be better off at McDonalds. Only good thing was the great whine list. Not to extensive but great whines.

Older hotel, still not using flat screen tv's smallsh room, it was fine for me (solo traveler) but seemed a tiny bit small for a couple. On the positive side, the staff is very friendly, the old style is just that, very stylish, high ceilings, nice art work, outstanding restaurant, very comfortable lobby and large relaxing sitting area with food, small bar, new papers etc. Late night lounge intimate, well stocked and very professional staff. If you like to shop, this is the place to stay. Outstanding but very high end shopping comparable to staying at the Plaza. Safe neighborhood, 17 minutes to Tegal Airport. (13 euros by cab) Great tours available within one minute from for front door. Hotel is a great value but remember the hotel is very clean but is older. Late checkout was free, fee for internet but Starbucks across the street with free net.

Just back from a trip to this hotel with friends and for anyone writing mixed reviews on this hotel- what are you on? It's fantastic! Great staff (especially reception), great rooms, great leisure facilities and located right next to one of the numerous underground stations for easy access round Berlin. Amazing shopping nearby and the sights in Berlin are breathtaking! Anyone thinking of going to Berlin, make this hotel your first choice before any others - simply awesome!

We stayed for the weekend and needed a spot close to some of the best shopping, Berlin nightlife and trains to other locations near Berlin. The Kempinski on the Ku'damm was perfect!

The hotel is a little bit old and it's appears. Excellent location.

It was our second stay there. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Probably the best location and hotel we could have wanted for our first time to Berlin. The Metro is only a block away and two blocks from the S train station main Zoo stop. Many good restraunts to choose from in the neighborhood. Up-scale shopping outside the door. Highly reccomend it.

I loved the sweeming pool, the service only the rooms were not that new, though very nice, the breakfast is fantastic expensive, not worth at all.

5 min. walk to ZooGarten SBahn and UBahn station. Lots of shops around. Good restaurants in the hotel.

This hotel is one of the best. Your price as well.

Everything and everyone is fabulous. The air conditioning like all European Hotels leaves a bit to be desired. Otherwise FABULOUS!

We stayed 6 nights at the Grand Kempinski and it was great. It is conveniently located and public transporation is close by within two or three blocks. The staff at the hotel were helpful and courteous, the rooms were comfortable and the service excellent. There is easy access to the museums and the other important cultural and historical sites. The concierge was most helpful in securing a reservation to tour the Reichstag Dome and advising how to reach destinations. My only criticism is the cost of the internet. It is not included with the room and it is very expensive. Fortunately there are a number of coffee shops nearby which offer free wireless service if you need to check your email or search the internet.

It was supposed to be close to all of Berlin's main attractions but is not. And its not the overall quality of other Kempinsky hotels (like Istambul which is excellent)
