This hotel is in a great location how ever at present there is a significant amount of building work being carried out on the plot next door. That being said it did not spoil my enjoyment staying here as I was out nearly all day and the work had finished by the time i returned. However it makes you wonder if the Trinity Inlet views will be lost due to what is being built. The hotel itself is slightly dated and could do with refurbishing. I stayed in a King Deluxe room which was very comfortable, however the chair in the room was one of the most uncomfortable i have ever sat in and must have been designed for its looks rather than comfort . The staff where very helpful and attentive to requests and questions.

Spent 2 nights here. Concierge was extremely helpful. Room was nice, however, Internet charges at $30/day is excessive. Free Wi-Fi was available in lobby but was not available in all parts of lobby or near plugs to charge laptop/phone. However, overall, I recommend the Hilton as a great place to stay in Cairns.

No good for services as there is only 3 staff at loddy, some of the staff is not helpful.

The hotel was in a great location and had good amenities in regards to the pool, spa, and restaurants. The room was nice but there were a lot of ants in the room that was frustraing to see at a Hilton. The beds were comfortable.

The location of the hotel is super as it is very close to the Reef Fleet Harbour as well as city centre. The staff of the front desk was very nice and helpful especially that Indian gentleman ( I forgot his name). However the cleaning standard was poor especially the 2nd day after we returned from the outter reef. I could say "lousy" in general. Besides it only had one dust bin in the toilet and it's not to my standard. Furthermore the toilet door is also not convenient as it is so close to the sanitary equipment.

Good hotel, but pillows smell a bit bad. They were replaced quickly but still smelled.

my husband and I had a really lovely stay at the Hilton, which was good value as we managed to get a last minute deal online. The only complaint (from my gadget-dependent husband) was lack of affordable internet access in the room, but there was a business centre with free short term access. The facilities, including swimming pool, restaurants, etc were top notch. We would stay here again.

I thought the Hilton had very good service - in fact Doughie (sp) was the ABSOLUTE BEST!! He provided lots of background on some of the popular dive sites and excursion companies and it was extremely helpful. The hotel itself requires a face lift. It's just old. However, our room was nice, very clean and the accommodations were very comfortable. The view was simply spectacular (of the boardwalk and ocean). Just shy of 4-Star, so with the great service, I gave them an overall 4!

Great Motel. All good. Did try to charge us again on booking out. But we worked through that.

This is an excellent hotel in a very good location and very well maintained with great amenities.

HAD A WONDERFUL STAY. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. THE ROOM WAS VERY QUIET FIRST THING IN THE MORNING WHICH IS SOMETIMES NOT THE CASE AT OTHER PLACES. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHER PEOPLE DEFINETLY. THANKS FOR A GREAT WEEKEND.

Excellent Hotel rooms and service walking distance from the action in downtown Cairns Esplanade. GREAT Rooms, and beds. Excellent value.

I could walk to the bars and restaurants on the marina or walk to the shops, restaurant and bars on the esplanade within a few steps. My dive boat was just next door. It was extremely convenient and comfortable. The bellman and the front desk staff were extremely helpful. Kim would always greet me with a smile and by my name. I was extremely impressed. The towel rental was a bit much and the $20 mojito at the bar was outrageous. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay.

The Hilton Carins is in a good location right on the waterfront. It's a short 3 minute walk to the marina where you can grab a boat to Green Island or the Outer Reef. If you go in the other direction you are 5 minutes walk from the city center with plenty of shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms where clean and modern. We had a nice balcony where we could sip wine and enjoy the sunset. If you are 2 or more people I would suggest getting a taxi to and from the airport since you don't save much on using one of the transfer services. The price was good value for money but a there are cheaper alternatives with the same advantages.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Cairns for 1 night before making the trip to Port Douglas. While on arrival, the girl on reception told us that the rooms were recently renovated, I didn't think the rooms were that nice and did expect more from the Hilton. We paid extra to upgrade to a Spa room.. and if you're planning on doing the same then don't bother as it's a 1 person spa bath.. hardly worth charging more for it! The rooms were neatly presented but lacked the X- Factor that I've come to love about the Hilton. The concierge were great, and that was the one good thing about staying here. Overall a 3.5 out of 5 experience.

beautiful new room modern lines convenient location but very poor housekeeping service !ruined our stay complained to steven that the foll were noticed: --room not vacuumed --linen not changed for 2 days --ashtray in patio not cleaned out (we do not smoke!) --patio not cleaned for 2 days --towels and amenities in bathroom not replaced --callesteven and pointed all these faults to him he agreed but did not respond the dissapointing thing was that no apology was forth coming from management etc magnificent hotel and location but extremely poor service!!!

The Hilton was overall a good experience, with some good and some bad points Good: New refurbished room, newer look and design Excellent location, very central to everything Helpful staff, very responsive Good room view of the harbour Bad: Ongoing construction was a bit disturbing There was a water fountain outside our room (which was on the 3rd floor) and the constant sound of it when the balcony was open was a bit annoying after a while There was no shower in the bathroom, only a hand shower which sprayed water everywhere each time you tried to use it, a bit inconvenient when you want a quick shower and are in a hurry to get out Service/housekeeping was not the best, shoddily made beds and bathroom floor not cleaned the three days we stayed there, however, as soon as we called housekeeping or the front desk with any complaints, they were quick to come to our aide Wi Fi very expensive

Only problem was that they were renovating. We were told that that there might be "some noise". Wrong --the room was totally inhabitable between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. First day we tried to rest -impossible. The room itself was very nice-probably one of the best except for the executive floor. Girl at front desk ( Melanie sp) and manager(Brooke) tried their best but we think overall not a satisfying stay. Sorry.

We stayed at this hotel for the location and the amenities and we were (mostly) not disappointed. The only issue was that there was construction going on that we weren't aware of, which was very loud from 9am-4pm. Also, they closed down the jacuzzi tub near the pool, which we had been looking forward to. As long as there isn't any construction going on, this is the place to stay. It's right on the Cairns Esplanade, near a lot of great restaurants, right next to the pier where all the snorkeling boats leave from, and has a fantastic restaurant right in the hotel. Plus, you can't beat the ocean/mountain view from the room - definitely choose a spa room with this view!

Run down rooms. Bathrooms dirty and in need of major renovation.

We have just spent a four day break in the Hilton Cairns. We both think that it is a first class hotel which deserves a mention.The hotel is in a super position and our room had an amazing view. We can thoroughly recommend a stay here

We recently stayed at the Hilton Cairns (October 2010). It is very centrally located. The hotel was reasonably clean (not sure anything was dusted but bathrooms were clean) and the front desk staff were helpful. I didn't appreciate being charged for every little thing. We had to pay to BORROW towels for our boating tour, very expensive Wifi access in your room and the two free computers available in the lobby were always busy, high parking charges, etc. Most importanty for us - the hotel didn't have laundry facilities available for guests to use and we learned that most other full service 4 and 5 star hotels in the area did. We ended up taking our clothes to a laundromat 4 blocks away. The front desk staff were very helpful and kind. The one concierge was not very helpful or friendly - we waited until the other woman started her shift the next day. I wouldn't stay there again given that we could stay for less money at several nearby hotels with just the same facilities and location convenience.

This hotel was at a good location, staff was helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was great.

Great hotel in a great location. The hotel is really well appointed and clean. The restaurant in the hotel is also quite good. The pool is a beautiful outdoor, kidney shaped pool with heated water. The pool and gym are a bit difficult to get to though as you have to walk down the fire stairs a couple of flights from the 3rd floor and then up a set on the left. Ask for an upper floor room as they are renovated and quite a bit nicer than the ones on the lower floors. The ocean-side hotel rooms have floor to ceiling windows and very nice balconies.

Not having been to Cairns before it was hard to know where to stay as there are many choices. This hotel was beautiful and the people working there very helpful. We had a beautiful view of the marina and surrounding rainforest. The pool was nice and warm. The buffet breakfast had just about anything you could want. The hotel is right at the end of the esplanade with lots of shopping, restaurants and close access to the lagoon. The perfect place to stay in Cairns.

From the from we thought, WOW! the lobby was inviting and spacious and very modern. The room was like something from the 70's. Very disappointing. Was OK to spend a night but we expected so much more from a 5-star. I have stayed in many 2 star motels here in Australia and in the US that would put the room to shame. Internet too expensive, go to McDonalds. I am Australian and can't fathom why in the US WiFi is free everywhere but here they charge like wounded bulls! The Harbour Lights across the road looked much better and the restaurant under that hotel does great inexpensive and yummy breakfasts.

It is one of the few 5 star hotel in Cairns, we paid top $$$ and expecting good service, wrong! When our tour bus came to pick us up, the front desk did not bother to call us and send the bus driver away, not a 5 star service. The internet access cost $30/day or $0.55/minutes, what a rip off. Even McDonald down the block has free wifi and internet cafe chage $3/hour. Local calls cost $1.5 per call. 2 out of 4 days, the congee in the breakfast buffet was not made right, it was just grainy rice with water. There was only 1 concierge in the hotel located in the touristy town, and he/she is off between 12-3pm. Overall I will not stay in Hilton anywhere any more.

very good location but the rooms are realy in bad condition and not 5* standard.

Hilton Cairns offered comfortable accommodations, that boasted great views of the harbor and surrounding wilderness. In close proximity to 'The Reef Casino' as well as the Esplanade that offers water front views and varied dinning options for every palate. Further inland, there are plenty of shops and souvenir boutiques. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great location, real close to the harbor and convenient if you plan to take a boat to snorkel. Originally stayed at a hotel a bit far and canceled the reservation. This place was well worth the extra cash. Very clean and have their act together.

We were travelling with an infant and arrived at 5AM. The staff helped us to scure a place to let the baby sleep. Arranged for outings that she would be able to handle. Allowed us a longer check out time (for a small fee.) Our best staffer was Victor in the Hunaman. He enriched our eexperience by eplaining our food as it arrived and taking a personal interest in all the guests as they dined. We would definately return for another visit!

Great value, very comfortable, location can't be beat.
