The hotel is well situated walking to the Mall and Union Station. The restaurant was very good as was the wine selection. The cost was high but well worth it. Great service. The only thing I didn't like were the photographs of "the liaison" up and down the halls. The model was creepy looking. Even with the "the liaison" I plan to stay there again. Service was great and very clean.

My stay was for 8 days and being at the Liason was an absolute pleasure. Will definitely stay again if my travels take me to Washington.

Lobby is small and very active, not a calm vibe anywhere is range. Having to pay for in room wifi is annoying. Lack of mini bar not a plus.

Great hotel with great customer service. Staff was really helpful, and recommended some great tours.

Very nice hotel, would have liked to be in an area with more restaurants to walk to. Beware of fire station next door.

Perfect spot for a night out in DC. Rooftop pool awesome

This hotel was a great location... very close to Capitol Hill and within walking distance of many historical sites. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would stay here again myself.

Beautifully renovated hotel. Spacious rooms, really comfortable, and the hotel was situated in a very convenient location. There is a view of the Capitol from that street. 2 annoyances: 1 - the fire alarm was pulled 2-3 times the Saturday night - that turned out to be a prank from a guest. 2 - we wanted to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant. There was a queue of 4 different parties waiting to be seated but more than half of the restaurant was empty (at least 10 tables). After waiting for 30 mins, we left.

The hotel was nice, but almost like a Holiday Inn with some new paint. The hospitatlity, however, was disappointing. The pool didn't have any of the cabana mattresses out, so everyone was sitting on the ground around the pool; the bartender wouldn't change the slow-jam R&B music to something more upbeat - even though myself and several other patrons requested it; the sandwiches served at the pool were frozen (literally, ice cubes) and the "fresh-squeezed lime juice margarita" came out mixed with blue koolaid. They did comp our drinks at the pool, due to the frozen sandwiches we had to return, but this was after arguing with the manager because he claimed they already comp-ed the food - it doesn't count as "comp-ing" it if we returned it because it was not edible. On the other hand, the beds were comfortable and the Art & Soul restaurant bar was much friendlier and served far better food and drinks. That was a pleasant surprise.

Staff were courteous and the concierge was very knowledgeable about events planned around the Memorial Day festivities going on while we were there.

If you want to stay close to Capitol Hill and DCA, this Hotel is one of the best choice.

This hotel was great! My conference was at the convention center and this hotel was a great location. If you enjoy walking, it was possible to walk to the convention center. If you would prefer not to walk like myself, the metro was a block away and only 3 stops from the convention center. I would stay here again.

This hotel is a true gem. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. We were in DC for a graduation and were able to walk everywhere. The staff was exceptional and really made our stay memorable.

It was in a good sightseeing spot. No free wifi was not a win with my husband and I & the TV screen quality was terrible. Thank goodness we were out and about a lot. No recommendations from the staff, they kinda just kept to themselves unless you approached them.

Hotel was nice and well located near Union Station and Capitol. However, even though hotel gave a nice updated appearance, rooms were a bit small. There seems to be a housekeeping issue because we were unable to check into one of our rooms until 5:30! The next day, our room was not cleaned until 3:00pm when we came back from a day of site-seeing and had to notify them.

The location trumps some of the minor issues we had. However, we can not recommend Art and Soul for breakfast . In attentive wait staff and poorly cooked food. Still wondering how bacon can be inedible.

Great location! The extras were overpriced....internet, valet parking, brunch.

We really enjoyed this hotel. It is elegant, but not stuffy, and within sight of Capitol Hill. Easy walking distance to the Smithsonians and the Monuments. My only words of caution are that it is two blocks from a narcotics rehab facility, which means that you will encounter dangerous people if you walk after dark.

Hotel was within easy walking distance of Union Station, Great base to explore the mall from. Out of the busy sections of DC. Large well lit room. Very comfortable desk and chair. Appowed early check in with no problem. Restaurant was very good and included vegetarian entrees. Near transitional neighborhood - would not recommend walking around alone at night. Would absolutly stay there again.

overall the hotel was great. We did go on a family vacation, but us "kids" ages 23-29 ventured out quite a bit on our own. The doormen outside were fantastic, they were always willing to point out great night scene spots as well as getting our transportation all squared away. The front desk staff however was less than enthused to be helping anyone other than business patrons. The hotel is in a great location, central to all attractions. However a word of caution in walking to some bars downtown you do pass some pretty seedy locations.

Overall the hotel was a great location. It was convenient for our family, the hop,on hop off tours stop right out front. The doormen out front were fantastic. They were very polite and accommodating. Waiting time for the hotel restaurant would've been a two hour wait, the doorman offered us a list of places with in a few blocks that were happy to accommodate our party of 8. The front desk staff however at times seemed to be less than enthusiastic to be helping a family versus the typical business patron. There is a small store next to the hotel that was great for late night snacks.

This could be a great hotel; however, it is next to the homeless shelter so be careful at night and the staff is horrible. The front desk clerk could have cared less about us.

We stayed at the Liaison for a race and it was perfectly located to the start line as well as Union Station. Check in was not perfect though as our room was not ready. They took our number stating they would call is but never did. Still a great stay overall.

Very nice stay for the price.

The bathroom is a bit small for three people but very clean. I really hoped there would be complimentary coffee served in the lobby each day but NO. The rooms have small coffee makers but I don't like those and we needed the small counter space to get ready in the morning. Overall... The hotel was very nice and the bed was VERY comfy.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room clean and comfortable, and the overall location outstanding. If you can book at a reasonable rate, the hotel is well worth the price. I particularly like the modern aesthetic––a far cry from the standard big box hotel decor. The restaurant food was good, but overpriced (par for the course with hotel restaurants, particularly in large metropolitan areas). There are however, some really wonderful restaurants only a few blocks away. There is also a cafe right across the street where you can purchase snacks, water, coffee, etc., so no need to pay for the expensive bottles of water in the room (a real concern for so many reviewers, it seems). I did not experience any problem with noise, and would happily stay here again.

Great location, about 2 blocks from Union Station. Was able to use the metro and walk the entire visit! Conveniently gets you to anywhere you want to go at less than $2 a stop. Also has shopping, and eating places for those on a tight budget. Well worth the extra dollars to get pampered, and in a quieter part of the strip. 3 blocks away from the Capitol building.

Very friendly, courteous, and helpful staff. Hotel room was clean and spacious. Short walk to Union Station, so great location for those coming into D.C. by train. Would definitely stay here again!

Good location and friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was terrible and very expensive. Much better food and deal at the cafe across the street. Problem of excess noise in lower floor rooms from workers. Not sure we would stay again. Arranged collection from and transport to the airport but driver late both times.

Good clean hotel with good location. Stayed in 4 hotels on this holiday and this was the only one without free wifi in the rooms.

Rooms were small and bathroom was tiny. No vending machines in the hotel.

I knew when I made my reservation that The Liason allowed pet lovers to share their hotel, but I never imagined a scenario like we experienced! Two hyperactive, mid-sized dogs moved into the room adjacent to ours and CLEARLY did NOT like being left behind by their owners, each time exploding into a cacophony unlike anything I've heard outside of a kennel! I asked the front desk to address this with the owners and was told "Yes, they said the dogs wouldn't like being left alone"..what! the owners knowing left behind a couple of howling, whining, barking dogs at 9:00 pm?! The staff assured me we weren't the only ones complaining and that the owners were contacted and "would return at their earliest convenience". No one from the staff came to investigate. Finally after several calls we were provided a 'new' room. I did receive a call from the manager the next morning offering "to make it right" but I cannot envision such a scenario. Its not about money, or credits, or breakfast-coupons-after-the-fact. Even overlooking the obvious maintenance issues not mentioned here, I don't WANT to stay or eat at your hotel again until you can demonstrate a more proactive management team, actually involved in guaranteeing a quality stay for all patrons, empowering their staff to take immediate action whenever needed ESPECIALLY in a case such as this. There are simply too many other options for the same money or less, readily available nearby
