This hotel is just across the river from both the boardwalk and the downtown mall. Close enough to walk to both! The neighborhood seems a bit sketchy for night strolls, but otherwise I felt comfortable there. The price of the hotel is fantastic given the location, and the cleanliness doesn't suffer with the relatively cheap rate. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to both families looking for a cheap alternative with a decent pool, and business travelers of a budget.

I would recommend the days inn and suites santa cruz to anyone visiting santa cruz. Only 4 blocks from the boardwalk, you can walk. Customer service was great and the room was very spacious. My family had a great time visiting santa cruz.

If you are looking for an uplifting getaway to the beach, find something else. The drug dealers and people going through the dumpster in the parking lot sort of put a damper on the beach experience. The room was pretty rundown and the bathroom fan sounded a lot like an airplane taking off. For the price, we could have done better......a lot better!

Beds and room were clean , but hotel shows plenty of wear and tear. The shower make an alarming noise and shook the tub, but there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was OK. Waffles and bagels very nice, but no choice of fruit - only apples

The first night we were in a room that was musty and in terrible condition. The drapes were torn and would not close, the walls have not been painted for years and were pealing, the two beds were of different heights, covers dirty, bathroom floor had not been cleaned and was sticky. The bedroom carpet was stained. In the morning the toilet would not flush. The custodian came and attempted to repair the problem. He tore the entire toilet apart and about two hours later ,determined that he coud not repair it. We requested another room which was given to us. The second room was definitely an improvement, but still less han a One star. At midnight the guests arrived uptairs walking about and generally making noise. The ceiling squeeked at each movement. This continued on and off throughtout the night.. We understand that this was a recent aquisition by Days Inn. They should have closed the facility and done a complete interior renovation. The outside and pool area are surprisingly quite nice and the lobby is okay. The continential breakfast was fair at best.

I can appreciate a dog friendly hotel. However, I would think that garbage cans would be placed in the open areas where the dogs would relieve themselves, so that those of us travelling with our dog(s) can toss their leftovers in a location that is not our hotel room garbage can, or simply leave it where it lie, because there's no place to throw it. As far as the room goes...I appreciate a hotel that supplies a coffee pot in each room, however, to have it rusted/moldy is not something that is appealing. It'd also be nice if the shower head worked and didn't rattle the entire bathroom wall, as if it was going to burst open! Washing my hair on all fours under the bathtub faucet was not how I anticipated starting my day!!

While this is no roach motel, there are A LOT of little things that could be done to improve the overall quality of the property and experience. There is absolutely no attention to detail, which leaves one wondering about everything else. From the outside, the place appears decent. Get up close though, and it could use a thorough cleaning top to bottom. The surfaces that normally get cleaned are clean enough, but the light fixtures, the top of the shower surround, the wall where there apparently used to be a picture...all needed a thorough cleaning. Our room needed a bunch of holes filled in the walls where screws used to hold in a shower curtain rod that had been replaced with a newer model, where some sort of rack or door used to be across the closet area, where the missing picture used to be in the main room... Seriously, a tube of caulk is like $2.99 and goes a LONG way. When the holes were filled they needed to follow with some touch up paint, not just for all the holes, but also for the un-taped, un-textured, un-painted, bare sheetrock patch in the wall behind the entertainment center. Seriously tacky! Not to mention all the other nicks and scrapes on the corners and trim from maid carts and vacuums smashing the corners and trim. In the lobby there were whole tiles missing from the floor, the elevator floor had cracked tiles, the window in the back of the elevator was cool, but the elevator window and the exterior window and wall behind it were filthy. There were 2 hot-tubs, but one was full of kids and the other had a foot of foam on top. I own a hot-tub, so I happen to know that foam is caused by skin oils, lotions, detergents, hair grease etc. running through the jets. Needless to say, we did NOT get in, even though I really could have used it. On top of that, they do supply janky pool towels, but you have to return them to the front desk or they will charge you for them. Even if you leave them in your room, according to the desk clerk. It's about 3 blocks to the boardwalk. Pleasantly surprised by the condition of the hotel considering the location and price. Regular rooms had a microwave and mini fridge. I love having a fridge for leftovers... that's rare! Front desk people were super nice as well, that's always a plus.

Located between the beach and downtown you can walk to either. The continental breakfast was okay - left a little to be desired. Otherwise clean and well-kept. Would stay there again.

Not very impressed with the hotel. Shady location with mediocre cleanliness. Had a used wash cloth still hanging on the shower curtain when I walked in with some curley queues still attached. Hotel staff was friendly and accomodating though. Probably would not stay there again.

Loud kids playing rap music at 10pm... moved to another room next to loud kids playing loud hip/hip music (not a special weekend in any way as far as I know). Complained again at 2am... hotel employee asked them to be quiet... they turned off the music but were still partying/loud until 4am. 7am people above me began stomping around and woke me up. Very thin walls/floors and seemingly a young/party motel.

Great motel. Great management, great staff. Old but well worth the price. Nicest in this neighborhood for sure... (Note to management...only problem was dirty windows and wall in glass elevator, everything else was great!)

The best thing I can say about this property is it is pet friendlly. Otherwise, the rooms were shabby, the towels dingy (hello..bleach works wonders!) and thread-bare, the blinds twisted and bent in disarray, the thresh-hold an inch higher than the floor (tripped all the time), the hot water lukewarm at best, the carpets dirty, the wake-up call early (5am NOT 6am as requested) and the closet missing doors and containing 4 hangers. I was traveling on business, and really could have used a few more hangers. The electricity went out in our room the second night of our stay and we moved to another room. However, we had to ask for a flashlight to see our belongings. The flashlight, low in battery power, dimly lit our room. After 3 trips to the "new" room (in our pajamas), we then had the problem of a sink that didn't drain, resulting in having to wash our hands in the bathtub faucet. There was a closet door in the room...which was a huge improvement. There are many other hotels in Santa Cruz and the surrounding area....go THERE! We go to Santa Cruz yearly and should have stayed in one we rented before. Live and learn.

close to everything much nicer than I expected in comparison to a previous hotel stay of similar pricing at a different hotel in Santa Cruz

The hotel is not fancy or upscale, but the room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. There was a loud party going on in the apartments across the street the night we stayed, but I live in a city so this wasn't really a problem.

My stay at this Days Inn was not quite what I expected based on the images and information found online. This appears to be a recently acquired hotel seeing as the banner outside was vinyl and the rugs inside the lobby had the old hotel's name on them. My room while clean had old carpet, cracks in the ceiling, and the bathroom could use more than just a new curtain. It has potential and a close location to the freeway and town, but hopefully their make-over will happen quickly.

OK service. Generally a bit shabby/worn down hotell. All rooms are supposed to be non-smoking but the first room we got had such a smell from cigarettes or such in the bathroom, it was ridiculous. There was no problem to change to another room, which was odor-free but the blankets had plenty of burn marks from cigarette ashes. The breakfast was OK but the area too small to acommodate all guests, so it was a bit crouded.

Welcomed my docile pet. Great waking up so close to the AM breakfast - sure smelled good!

The customer service was great, not bad for the money and good free continental breakfast, however you could hear a mouse fart three rooms down. We were up pretty much the entire last night. 4am, the neighbors were outside yelling with friends, literally. On a Monday night...

Very nice hotel. It doesn't exactly look as it does in the photos, but few do . Room was very good size, comfortable bed, very conveniently located within walking distance to the boardwalk and the beach. We got a great special price. Only bad thing to report was that the walls were a bit thin...it didn't bother us much as we spent much of the day roaming the city. However, I guess the volume at which my kids watched TV bothered another guest (who called the manager). The little man also tried out the bed for a few minutes (jumping). It is barely worth mentioning, except that it occured ver early in the day. I can't imagine it would have disturbed someone's sleep, but hey, whatever. It sort of made us feel like the less important guests. Otherwise, very nice place and a pleasant stay.

The staff were very nice, helpful, courteous and professional. Breakfast was nice... Room was ok - super loud at night (lots of doors banging, people walking around), refer was noisy and bed was very uncomfortable. If you want a cheap place to stay where the staff is super nice and breakfast are good, and you can sleep on anything with a lot of noise - this is a good place.

This was probably the crummiest "hotel" I've stayed in. The neighborhood is awful, but it was conveniently located and quiet. It was great for the kids to have a heated pool & jacuzzi for January swimming. The room was large and clean, but it was a bit worn. *DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR HOTELS.COM "DELUXE ACCOMODATIONS", ALL ROOMS ARE THE SAME PRICE PER THE HOTEL MANAGER*

Very satisfied!!! The Manager of Days Inn and Suites was very understanding. This hotel was clean and quiet. The complimentary breakfast was decent but it was welcoming, especially with their waffle station. I would recommend it to my friends. I plan on going here for my next visit.

Hi just wanted to mention the nicest young man and his wife that work there. I am sorry I don't recall his name, but he works evenings, and he was so helpful.

I was surprised at the size and the price of my room. It was big enough for me to ride my mountain bike in, which is always a plus. The front desk people were very nice and the location was perfect. the only thing i had wrong with it was dealing with some one way streets to get to the place, a minor inconvenience in an otherwise beautiful weekend.

The hotel itself was lovely, clean and good location, within walking distance to a lot i.e The boardwalk, Santa Cruz wharf and downtown. Staff were very friendly and a good choice of breakfast selections offered :) Would reccommend this hotel

If you wanted something practical and close to your surroundings... this is a good place to stay. The dual jacuzzi gave you a little privacy and the pool was heated for a nice December swim. Friendly customer serivice.
