Fantastic location, but hotel very tired and in need of refurbishment.

Overall a decent place to stay for the price and location in NY. The hallways are run down and the paint needs work in most places. The room was big, clean and comfortable. I'd probably stay there again if the conference we attended was at the Hilton again (just down the street)

The rooms need remodeling, but are very spacious. The location is excellent Internet wifi is not included. No problems with the hotel staff and invoice. I do recommend the hotel

Nice enough hotel. In a suite for a long weekend, sofa bed was awful - 2 inches thick. Very outdated yet clean. Not personable at all. Staff stares as you go In and out. No greeting.

The hotel was a great location and nice rooms. The pull out sofa in our room was broken and we had to set the mattress on the ground to sleep.

Although our room was a little run down, it was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were helpful and the location couldn't have been better -- only minutes to MoMA, Central Park, Carnegie Hall and Time Square. For the price, it was a good deal and I would definitely return.

We've always loved the Salisbury Hotel, and if anything this stay was even nicer than our first visits!

We paid for a room, but was upgraded to a suite without paying extra. Generally speaking, we were happy with what we got for the price. It is close to everything. Parking is close by, although not adjacent to the hotel. please budget 24 dollars per day's parking. We simply parked the car in the garage for 2 days without driving it out, not only because it is more convenient to take a taxi, but also because each time you take your car out, you will need to pay a certain amount of money. (I don't remember how much)

Walking distance from keys areas: central Park; Times Square; Madison Square Garden etc...You can return to hotel if needed and go back to explore..We were a group of 10 and the room were great, nice area to order in and separate place to sleep. Old but ok...

Our four nights and three days in NYC included plans to visit the Frick for a special exhibition, to see the refurbished American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and to catch a Broadway Matinee. The Salisbury on 57th between 6th and 7th seemed like an excellent location and had good reviews. We were not disappointed. The Hotel is older but solid and clean. The beds were comfortable, the plumbing worked fine -- though the water was not as hot closer to 9 am -- and the room was comfortable, neither hot nor cold in early March. Up on the 17th (top) floor, we heard the occasional sirens but otherwise no noise from the street. Our room had a safe big enough for a MacBookAir or Netbook, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. If you choose to dine in, Whole Foods is about four blocks away, there is a convenience store a few doors down, and we found a small market across from Carnegie Hall. Getting from JFK to the Salisbury was efficient. Take the Air Train to the Jamaica Station, the E Train toward Manhattan, but transfer to the F in three stops at Union Turnpike / Kew Gardens. The F has a stop at 6th and 57th, a half block from the hotel. Get a Metro Card as you exit the Air Train. Two people can actually share one card. We spent a bit over $50 in four days, of which $20 was for the Air Train between JFK and the Subway. Reloading the Metro Card when it got low was easy. To reach the Fifth Avenue Museums, walk to Madison Avenue and take the 1, 2 3, or 4 bus north. The same buses run south on 5th and stop at 59th. The MOMA is only a few blocks walk. The Theater District is a bit further to walk but it's pleasant and interesting. We were pleased with the Salisbury and recommend it for any visit that focuses on the Art Museums.

Bathroom was small and older, but rest of room was fine. The toilet-shower area had a raised floor, and I tripped at night because of it. However, this would be a costly renovation to repair.

Good location. Comfortable and spacious room. It would have nice to have a coffee maker in room. Hotel's breakfast staff refused to give even a cup of coffee without full breakfast charge.

As I have only been to New York once,I wasn't sure whether I made a good choice and only went with the reviews listed with Hotels.com.In the end I was pleased with my choice as the hotel had large,clean and comfortable room.The staff were very helpful and polite.It was only a short walk to Times Square and other attractions,and it was located in a reasonable safe area.Perhaps the only short coming was the constant construction noise early in the morning and the breakfast.In short,if you wish to stay here,then get a room to the rear of the building and skip the breakfast.

The Salisbury is a former residential property that has been converted into hotel rooms/suites. While it's age is readily apparent (in the floorboards and lack of "design" in the decor), the space and the staff more than made up for any inadequacies. We had booked two rooms that ended up on different floors, and when we asked to have them adjoining or at least on the same floor, the front desk allowed us to move into an apartment suite with an abundance of space - two bedrooms, two full baths, loads of closet space, a kitchenette and a full living room. And the location was great - a slightly quieter neighborhood than the Times Sq. area, close to major subway and bus lines, walking distance to Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center. It was ideal. We would happily stay at The Salisbury again!

The rooms were spacious for multiple occupants - GREAT location for all of our activities! GREAT service! We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family!!

Hotel rooms needs to be refurbished, room was very noisy. Building works opposite the hotel. 0bviously not hotels fault. Would not recommend until update the rooms. Good point the rooms are a very good size.

The Salisbury offers no frills but an amazing amount of space for New York. We had a very large sitting room and large bedroom. No sophistication at all in decor, and almost no real "service". (No restaurant, room service, mini-bar, etc. Bring your own laundry to reception.) But what you DO get is an ideal room (or suite) at cost far below the norm in NYC. Yes - I've been here before and would make this my preferred hotel, especially as I usually work almost next door.)

I just spent 2 nights at the Salisbury Hotel, and I couldn't be happier w/my stay. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. It's an older hotel, so it lacks the dazzle of some newer places, but the rooms are large and the building is well-maintained. The location is great and the price was absolutely unbeatable. I think it would be ideal for families or school groups.

Our room was huge -- and given that it is New York City, that is really saying something. Flat screen TVs, coffeemaker, well-kept, great staff. Excellent location near park, Carnegie Hall, 8 minute walk to theater district. No restaurant, no spa, no gift shop -- just a good hotel! Would definitely stay again.

I was VERY satisfied with the room, location and especially price! I plan to go again in March, and would LOVE to have the same rate!

The hotel is not new but well maintained, the cleanliness of the rooms was perfect. Our room was really huge, with a kitchenette furnished with microwave oven and coffe maker, a living room with sofa.bed, armchairs and TV, the room with king bed. The bathroom could be larger but was OK. The location is really fantastic, close to Central Park, Times Square and MoMA, 2 subway stations are within 1 block, so reaching everything is easy and fast. The staff has been polite, efficient and helpful. Great value for price.

Hotel is in a fantastic location being close to everything and on 59th street. However hotel is tired and in need of a bit of tlc. Tooms are clean and not as small as expected, we booked a double and ended up with a twin not a good start. We had a room on 6th floor on the street side, big mistake, the city certainly doesnt sleep and as windows/double glazing is not good we were woken up early every day with traffic noise, it was as if the windows were open. Bathroom was tired but adequate for our needs. The breakfast was good value and set us up for the day. Staff were polite and helpful especially after we tipped. The best thing bout hotel is its location close to central park and time square and just over road from carniege hall, we were happy to walk streets at midnight and beyond. Over all hotel was good but needed a revamp. And there is no bar at hotel, although the fridge in room came in handy with the wine we purchased from 24hr shop over the road. Yes we would stay there again, could put up with the negatives as location was perfect

We are just back from New York, having stayed in the Salisbury Hotel. The location of the hotel is superb - beside Central Park, Museums, shops and Central Park. The rooms are very spacious and the adjacent sitting rooms perfect for teenagers to relax in. The nearby restaurants are very convenient and family orientated. Overall great value for money and very pleasant staff.

Our party included My Mom, My sister, My husband, our 2 year old , and myself. We stayed in a suite which had two very comfortable double beds in one room and a fold out couch in the other. Unfortunately, even though the couch was advertised in the room description as a sleeping option, in reality, it was basically just a sack of springs covered with a sheet. No really, there was no possible way a person would be able to sleep on that thing and we're not picky!. I had to steal pillows and both the thick mattress pads off the double beds and stack them onto the sofa bed to make it passable, and we still didn't sleep a wink. Mom and Sis slept fine though. It would have been a major problem if we were booked for more than one night. Look out for the parking lot that has a deal with the hotel. They scratched up our car and denied it. So check your car and take some pics before you drop it off. It's an old building so, yeah we saw a couple of giant roaches the size of small mice, but I'm not squeamish, and there was absolutely no evidence of the dreaded "B" word which was a huge relief.

Home away from home very cosy ,no glam just a perfect location ,every thing you need around you ... comfortable functional rooms with fridge microwave ect .... food delivered from outside to your room ...check out burger joint across the road hidden inside the stuffy Parker Meridien hotel a real taste of NewYork ..Loved it all ..great friendly staff !! Will do it again !!

Location and the room were amazing. Positioned at the rear of the hotel on the 10th floor there was minimal street/construction noise. Room was very generous with convenient kitchenette. Service loses a few points for the occasional missed towel replacement and lack of free wifi (an expensive paid service is available, despite starbucks across the street offering it for free). Kitchenette could have been improved with addition of some cutlery and crockery, we had to buy some which was strangely hard to find at low cost in New York. Overall very impressive and exceeded expectations.

Slightly dated but very clean, very comfortable and excellent staff. Breakfast good fresh, continental selection. In a brilliant location, tour buses from the end of the road and 10 minutes walk from Times Square and theatres. 5 minutes from Central Park. Don't judge the hotel by it's corridors, the rooms are much better! There was a building site opposite but as you are in a city there is more noise from the traffic than the site! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel

The Salisbury is an older hotel that has not been remodeled in some time, but is always very clean, very comfortable, and has huge rooms by New York standards. I never have any complaints staying here.

Great location--they provide umbrellas on rainy days. We had a one-bedroom suite--it is LARGE but the sofa bed is very uncomfortable--the mattress is very thin and you can feel the springs. I'd only recommend this room if young children are sleeping on the sofa bed.

Loved the location of the Salisbury Hotel. Just one block from Central Park and about a 5 minute walk to Times Square. Rooms are very clean and the staff are very helpful. Heating in the room was great lovely to come back to when you have been out in the cold all day. Would recommend this hotel to all I know.

I loved my stay at the Salisbury Hotel and will definitely be staying at this hotel when visiting NY. The room was big with 2 closets and one of them was a walk-in closet. Very roomy and with a kitchenette. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed this hotel and will definitely be back. The location was perfect. It was a block from Central Park and walking distance to Time Square. A little over 10 blocks but only two stops on the sub-way. By the way there is a sub-way station on each side of this hotel. So easy to get around Manhattan. There is also a little store only a couple of doors down, great to fill up the refrigerator. And also the best pizza in Manhattan only down 2 doors. Yummy. Loved it.

My wife and I have stayed at the Salisbury for years now.We alwys come in Jan-Feb when rates are at there lowest. It's very comfortable and perfctly placed between Lincoln Center and the Teater District.Accomodations are comfortable .Salisbury is popular with forien tourists and a ride on the elevator is like traveling abroad. We love this place

Outstanding. Large room with window that opened. Very quiet. Breakfast is such a deal for the quality of the food and cost. Wonderful neighborhood. Make sure you eat at Brooklyn Diner. Close to Central Park. Across street Carnegie Hall. Hotel staff very helpful in traveling around. VERY clean room. You can not get a better place. We had two in the room but there was enough space for 4. When I go back to NYC I will stay here. Subway across the street. Grocery on street and cafes on street.

I had the most excellent experience of staying in a suite in NYC here. Definitely recommend, specially for family of more than 4 people. The living room is absolutely spacious n comfy. The bedroom is quite nice as well. We would definitely come back again.

We loved the ambiance of the hotel and the convienence of its location. Everything was perfect, and we would definitely stay at the Salisbury again. The only suggestion would be to invest in new beds. Our beds were not comfortable! Being that everything else was to our liking we hate to dwell on 1 bad thing. However, it is a pretty important item when staying at a hotel.

The location is great, close to Schwartz toy store and the Apple store. One block from the Central Park and a short walk to the Rockefeller Center. The junior suite was huge (easily accommodated the family of 5), however, it was very outdated (especially the bathroom was pretty dingy) Also the room was extremely hot. The heat was blowing full blast so that we were forced to an AC unit at the same time.
