Although the rooms could use a good updating, this is my first choice on Oahu. It is on the North Shore (windier than Waikiki), so it is isolated (not like Waikiki, where you can't see more than 50 feet due to buildings) and ideally located. All ocean front rooms have spectacular views and (even if it is full), it is not crowded. We were always able to get lounge chairs by the pool, no matter what time of day it was - try that in Waikiki. If you like crowds, go to Waikiki, otherwise, go here.

If you want to get away from the scene at Waikiki, this is the place to do it. The beaches are gorgeous, and the property is expansive. I hope they don't ruin it by adding more hotels, but that's the local topic of discussion. The food is excellent at all the restaurants. The rooms need an update, the baseboards are all knicked and the bathrooms are low end. Don't expect beautiful fixtures, just functional ones, and you won't be disappointed. I would return, especially with a deal through Hotels.com.

Nice comfortable rooms. Pleasant stay. Location location.

Great place to stay, was windy by the pool but the beach area was great for swimming and snorkeling. Great for kids.

The building itself is not a looker (70's concrete), but the public grounds and areas are very well maintained and it is a relaxing place. However, the room itself is in need of some sprucing up--it's not on par with the rest of the facility. From your room, you could easily think you're in a Hollywood, FL beach motel. Most Best Westerns are more contemporary. I won't fault it too much because I would still go back--who stays in their room on vacation anyway? A bacon-egg breakfast is absurdly expensive--pick up groceries at the Foodland 20 min down the road if you want to eat something decent.

We were surprised with a hidden fee for services that other hotels provide, free of charge. Rooms were in poor condition. Staff were friendly.

We stayed for 4 nights for our honeymoon and loved it. The resort is beautiful, the people were friendly, the room was very clean, and overall we had a great time. After driving into Honolulu for a day, we appreciated the resort's location even more. It's quiet and relaxing and has views that can't be beat! Just a note, the restaurants are a bit pricey (especially for breakfast), but we especially enjoyed Ola!

We stayed for 4 days at the Trutle Bay Resort on the North Shore and were very pleased with the accomodations and the service at the hotel. We stayed in one of the beach cottages and the experience was as we had hoped. The room service was exceptional for a beach resort as they were always tiding-up and the room always felt fresh and clean in spite of 2 teenagers always being wet and sandy in the room. This is our 10th trip to the islands and we truly love the big island because of the quaintness and less crowds, but the North Shore is also like the real Hawaii we love. We recommend the Turtle Bay Resort and know you will have a great time. Aloha!

The bed was awful- very soft and extremely uncomfortable. The surroundings were beautiful. Hotel was nice but needs new carpet in main areas and on each floors- the furniture right off the elevators needs upgraded. Very outdated and tired looking.

We chose Turtle Bay due to the facilities. We were very happy with the dining options which can be a particular challenge for us given food allergies and a 3.5 year old. The kids pool was awesome. We would go again! A major bonus was the EMPTY refrigerator provided which allowed us to stash fruit from the nearby fruit stand for our busy little one.

The grounds at Turtle Bay are gorgeous and well maintained and it is clear that is where their focus is. However, the rooms were very disappointing. They are extremely dated, very little furniture or decoration. For the price you for this hotel I would have expected much more upscale hotel rooms. Our room at a 4 star resort in cuba was nicer than the room we have in Turtle Bay. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to people but I would warn them about the conditions of the rooms.

This hotel is expensive - but it can afford to be, as it seems to be the ONLY place for visitors to stay on the whole of Oahu's North Shore. It's a lovely spot of luxury though in an otherwise hicksville kind of place, and we loved it for both those reasons. Big bed, 2 sinks, sea view, cozy duvet, lovely toiletries, free WIFI in room - but a steep $25 daily resort fee on top of booking price ( it includes parking - all hotels seem to charge at least $10ish a day for this). Front desk very efficient; convenience store in the basement. We didn't eat in any of the many restaurants at the establishment ( including 1 on the hotel beach) but had 1 overpriced, not great cocktail at the Hang Ten bar by the extensive pool/hot tub area, where it was nice to sit and watch the surfers though. The nearby beach offers OK snorkelling, as does Shark Cove - this place is no good for kids though as it has a very rocky entry. For turtles you need to go to Laniakea Beach from noon onwards - they come out on to the beach and say hi. This is not signposted - look for lots of cars parked on the side of the road on the left as you drive from the resort towards Haleiwa about 15 mins from Turtle Bay hotel. Haleiwa is the nearest town a 20-minute drive from the hotel - but what a drive - stop off at Ehukai Beach Park and Waimea Beach on the way to watch the waves if its winter. Good eats in Haleiwa - Jameson's, a little Thai on left as you enter town & Cafe Haleiwa. Great smoothie from Lanikai juice. Teddy's Bakery on the road back to Turtle Bay Hotel also fun, but the best food recommendation is Giovanni's Shrimp Truck - turn left out of the resort & its on the left in about 5 mins. Super-fat, super-garlicy shrimps n rice like you've never had before, washed down with a pina colada smoothie or real coconut juice. It's quite unbelievable this place - just beach after beach, no sign posts, street food on the roadside, chilled, chilled vibe - is only 50 minutes drive from the designer shops and

cant beat the views from the rooms, great location

Restaurants were great, especially Ola. Beach was beautiful. Room was spacious; view was excellent. However, top of armoire needs to be dusted and the room begs for a comfortable lounge chair or sofa with better lighting for reading. Space is no problem, so this is easy to fix and would improve comfort.

Our expectations were exceeded, we will definitely return.

This was the only hotel in Haleiwa area convenient for our 7am shark tour. There are however B&Bs in the area. The hotel is in a beautiful location and has many amenities and a public beach nearby. It's only about 10 minute drive from Haleiwa which has many great eateries as well as the shark tour. However the room itself is not a 5 star resort level room - the bathroom not being as luxurious as the price would indicate. Overall, beautiful view, nice grounds, pricey but the only hotel in the area.

Turtle Bay Resort offers the best setting on Oahu. It is close to great local eateries including Ted's Bakery,Kahuku Grill, and Fiji Market and Curry House. The Polynesian Center is 20 minutes away, horseback riding at Gunstock Ranch is 10 minutes away, and North Shore surfing is right next to the resort. The hotel is all about the setting and location. The rooms are nice but not spectacular. The food at the hotel is good. The staff were all quick to share aloha every morning. Request a room in the south tower with an odd number to have a great ocean view with the best view of the tropical waters. Pick an even number to have a sunset view over the ocean and pool. Enjoy an Oceanside massage to truly relax. We plan to go back in the near future- as this is a truly special location.

This hotel was great! It was all that we had hoped it to be! It was clean, the people were friendly. It had a very relaxing atmosphere! We sat at the side of the ocean, on the patio for hours, just enjoying the waves! We had a ocean view room on the 3rd floor, and we could look out onto the ocean. with our balcony door open we could listen to the ocean all night! Total stress relief! There was alot of construction going on at the time, in the lobby, but that was really no problem.

Nice hotel, clean, beautiful view. Plan on spending lots of money tho!

We visited for golf package. The price was 1 night with 2 pax 1-day unlimited round included. The golf course was wonderful! We were lucky to experience both Fazio and Arnord Parmer. The location was quiet and we were happy after spending 1 week in Waikiki.

This hotel was beautiful!!! The choice of restaurants were great. The Surfer Bar just opened prior to our arrival so there were still lots of opening events occuring but this just added to the atmosphere of the hotel as por Surfers were frequenting the Bar. The hotel is not far from the famous big wave beaches of Sunset, Waimea Bay and Pipeline. There are plenty of activities to do but we went there to chill out, as it was the start of our journey through the Hawaiian islands. Loved it!!!

Great piece of property and a nice break from the mob of the city. Hotel offers many great amenities and activities. Room was clean, though the bathroom was in need of major remodeling.

Turtle Bay is a nice enough hotel, but not upscale enough to warrant the room price. It's also on the far northern tip of O'ahu, so far from restaurants, shopping, etc. The price is too high given the small rooms and distance from activities.

enjoyed our stay very much...the staff was great. restaurants were good. i think the only negative was the bathrooms needed updating, and there was no mini bar.

We enjoyed our stay during the convention. We had a junior suite - which accommodated a small debrief discussions every night in preparation for the next day's plenary sessions. The in room service was excellent. In all, this was a great opportunity to drive to the North Shore. I have not been to Turtle Bay for 2 years. Maika`i and aloha!

We had an Ocean Front Delux room. The room had an amazing view! The rooms look like they are in transition, like they are redoing them but have not finished. The bathrooms are dated but arnt that bad and the room itself is bare and needs more artwork and something to fill the empty space. I kind of felt like I was staying in a room in my house that I was still working on. For us however the view was worth it so we still had a good time and expected this based on the other reviews I had read. When we were there the jacuzzi was shut down and also one of the resturants (it was getting remodeled) which was a bummer. The pool side food was just "ok" and service varied, one day it was great another day it was slow. Dinner at Leonardo's was really good. We also had dinner at the place on the beach, my husband loved his but I didnt like my mushroom orzo (it was the only vegetarian dish there). I would reccomend snorkling by the beach resturant. They rent snorkal gear and beach chairs to hotel guests for free. We saw all kinds of cool fish and saw several sea turtles eating and swimming. The pool by the bar is freezing cold, however the pool with the slide is warm so go in there instead. We took a helicopter tour of Oahu from Paradise helicopters which was really cool and the helipad is right by the parking lot at the resort (warning its hard to find bring your map). Overall I would stay here again and just hope that next time the hotel is more finished in their remodel process. It has the potential to be a really amazing place.

nice hotel and beach area. room was a little old, but comfortable. way over priced, but it can be since it's the only thing on the north shore

We had a brilliant four nights here as part of our honeymoon. Our room, though not fancy, was clean and spacious, and the pool area was great. The staff were really nice too and went out of their way to make our trip feel extra special. The North Shore area is unspoilt and simply stunning - we didn't find loads else to do near the hotel, so it's not one for party animals, but if you're looking for a relaxing or romantic break it's ideal. We ate at most of the hotel's restaurants and I would particularly recommend Ola (where we had dinner on the sand) and 21 Degrees North. All in all, a lovely hotel.

Wonderful location and very pleasant stay. Excellent food.

Food is pretty pricey, but other than that, our stay at Turtle Bay was perfect. We went horse back riding and relaxed on the beach. The water was cold and it was a bit windy, but that is probably typical for October. Lots of turtles in the bay and several clean beaches to explore right outside of the hotel.

There are nicer resorts on the island for the amount you pay for these rooms.

There is nothing not to love about the hotel. Great location, great beaches, nice restaurants, nice rooms. The bathrooms a bit outdated, but overall clean and nice. Would definitely stay there again.

This was my first time in the north shore and it proved to be the best vacation I had had in a really long time. The rooms were very clean and the staff very friendly. I totally recommend this hotel

This is the second time we stayed at TBR with our last visit being 18 months ago. We were very disappointed that the service, cleanliness and amenities have significantly deteriorated. We would not stay at TBR again.

A great place to stay, great customer service, very nice ocean view. I am sorry, i couldn't stay more than one nigth.

Our room was clean and comfortable, the pools were great (our kids loved them!) and the snorkelling was good. The only issue was food. When we arrived in the afternoon, the impromptu coffee shop in the lobby had closed, so the only option was room coffee. We had dinner and brunch at Leonardo's. They advertised gluten-free options on the internet, but were overwhelmed when asked to deliver. Be prepared to pay extra for everything. The staff were courteous and attentive.

This is our 4th time at Turtle Bay Resort and not our last. It is one of my favourite hotels in the world. The location, room size, facilities and staff are all fantastic.

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly, clean, enjoyed all restaurants except the one on the beach, neither of our meals were good. Not very pleased with the $25 per day resort fee. We did not use any of the services the fee was implemented for and felt ripped off having to pay the fee on services we did not use.
