The floor carpet in rooms needs to be changed.They need to paint and change the old shower curtains plus broken windows.The place smells with mold.However the workers are great.

The rooms vary a great deal in size. The single queen or double bed option is very small. The two double bed size is very comfortable.

A good place to rest ur head @ night. Bed a little soft.

Hotel is very old. We were terrified each time we had to use the elevator. Our room was very small but the queen sized bed was super comfortable. Room was clean. But hotel was dark & creepy feeling.

This hotel is not the best by no means. However, the location is ideal for someone who needs to be at the clinic and hospital across the street. It is truly old and the bathrooms are in great need of repair and update. It is a two star hotel and knowing that says it all. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. If you can't afford an expensive hotel and need to be with your loved ones, then this is the place. .

Though the hotel is quite old and the rooms small, our stay was very nice. The hotel staff was quite helpful at all times and very friendly. We would stay at the Days Inn again if the need arises. We were on a scheduled Mayo Clinic visit and consultation.

If you are more then 200 pounds its not for you. You have to turn around and back into the toilet stool to do a number. I barely fit but made it. The room is very very small but if all you are doing is sleeping then it will do. The heat is on all the time even if the valve is off. With steam heat the heat rises and when you are on the upper levels you have to put up with an 85 degree room. Keep the window open with a fan. Now if they would only charge $40 to $50 per night then that would fit the quality of what you get.

I expected little bit better than what we found when we got there ! Outside condition of the hotel is fine. Location is perfect, esp if you are there for your appointment at Mayo! It's just across the street. You can even keep the car in the hotel parking lot and cross the street... you are there. The hotel from inside (lobby etc is ok). And you go up in the shaky elevator, you find somewhat narrow hallway and then you get to the room... oh boy, it's small !!! Very small room, old style TV, curtains and old style heater. The bathroom is really...really small ! But we only had to stay one night, so survived !!!

Old hotel property. Incredible location to Mayo Clinic and surrounding downtown. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant.

This Hotel is very Old and the Rooms are very small and not very convenient. I would not have this hotel on your list of possibles. Very dissappointed .

The Hotel was old, clean, convenient, did I say old.

Four trips to Rochester this year each time staying at Days Inn. Any amenities not provided are across the street or down a block; fine with me! I enjoy Days Inn and will be back on my next trip.

I stayed at the Days Inn Rochester while my daughter was a patient at Mayo. I was concerned about the trip because I knew I would be making late night treks back to the hotel alone. I never felt unsafe. The hotel is literally right across the street. The walk is very well lit, and everyone I met was very friendly and nice. There was always someone at the front desk when I would pass through. Our room was small, but very clean and there were no unpleasant odors. There is a restaurant in the same building, but there are literally dozens of eating places within easy walking distance. Free parking meant I didn't have to worry about the car, or driving and paying ramp fees. I would recommend the Days Inn to anyone coming to Mayo. It has everything you need.

I rarely complain, but this hotel was probably one of the worst I've ever stayed in. You cannot beat it's location, but it comes at the cost of everything else. The rooms are TINY. The bed takes up about 80% of the room. If you fell over trying to put your shoes on you'd either crash through a window or break your neck on the (very) nearest wall. The floor I stayed on smelled like feat. Like kind of a gym sock, sour and humid smell through out the floor. I thought about checking out as soon as I checked in. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone except a criminal on the lam.

The room was extremely small. There wasn't enough room to walk along the foot of the bed, because it was crammed up next to the tv. There was a window unit air conditioner which provided adequate cooling. The hotel is old, but everything was pretty clean. There was off-road parking included in our rate. It was in a fenced in lot, right next to the hotel. An excellent restaurant was connected to the lobby. Great prices and great food, too!! Best for breakfast. Can even sit outside and enjoy the morning when the weather is nice. If the weather's not nice, you can get to the restaurant without leaving the hotel.

The rates were reasonable. The room was, as expected, small. Two issues, both regarding access. The hotel had key cards. They fialed to mention that you had to operate the key card quickly - that is, the door would only open while the green light was blinking. Would have been nice if they had mentioned this before we were in fromt of the door. The other issue was that after we were int he room for about 15 minutes some new hotel residents opened our door only to find that the room was already occupied by us! Luckily we were fully dressed. A mistake had been made by the front desk and these folks were assigned to our room instead of the one below it. Ooops. The air conditioner knob didn't fit correctly and it was hard to tell what setting we were using. The bathroom has not been updated in quite some time (never?). I like "vintage", but this looked like very tired vintage. Given the awesome location of the hotel and the inexpensive rates, I suspect we got what we paid for. I woudl probably go back, but I don;t know that I would recommend this hotel without qualifications.

I booked one of the more expensive hotels in Rochester, so I could be sure of quality. The largest room with 2 queen beds was smaller than my bathroom. Room smelled like urine. We used the room to change our clothes for the wedding we were attending, then went back to room and packed up. We didn't stay. We had to drive 2 hours home at 2AM. Very unhappy!

This place was exactly what we wanted. We got two beds and a room with bathroom for a great price. We weren't looking for anything fancy and were happy to have a coffee maker and tv. Room was clean and hotel is cool because it's antique. Perfect location, could walk to the Gonda and Charleton buildings, and I'm sure other buildings too. Parking included with room is a bonus!

i couldn't have been more pleased than where i stayed in rochester at the days inn downtown. it was affordable, within walking distance and or an inexpensive bus ride to everywhere i wanted to go. eliminated the need to rent a car! i liked the atmosphere of the old style building and had a corner room with a view of the streets in both directions. i like the city type noise and action. if i wanted to sleep, i just turned on the fan/ ac to drown out the noise. the staff was helpful and even hooked me up with the same room i requested upon return a few days later. definetely will stay again!

I loved staying at this hotel! It was an old building so the room was different than most modern room but it was still big and comfortable and best of all cheap!!! i would highly recommend it!

For the rates, this hotel is a great value. Location and parking are really good. It's pretty old, but they keep it clean. Rooms very small.

Friendly, comfortable, and clean. Forgot my computer cord in the room, the staff mailed it to my home, no problem. That is great service one can appreciate! Very close to Mayo Clinic. Walked to and from very easily.

Probably the tiniest room we have ever seen. Window air conditioner pretty loud. Nice staff. Few freebies, no breakfast.

I had a great experience at the DaysInn, especially their staff. The desk staff was very kind and understanding when dealing with some booking debacles, which were not their fault. The old charm in the place is great. It is older, but so much of its original character has been maintained. It is a less expensive option to the many over priced hotels in the area. The walking distance to the river made for some beautiful runs and walks during my Rochester stay. Thanks !

The Days Inn is very convieniently located across the street from the Eisenberg building Rochester Methodist Hospital makign it easy to get there for an early morning appointment. For the hotel itself it appears they did some updating to faucets and lighting but it still is very 1930-50ish. The rooms are very small, the room doors are the old wooden style and hallways are narrow. Reminds me of old 1950 movies of college dorms. There was even a dial telephone in the hall.

Wow! This place was older and creepier than expected...but if I would have prepared myself for such a small room and the "horror film" type ambiance, it would have been just fine. Don't expect to have friends over in your room because 2 people could barely fit in my double bed room! There wasn't even an outlet in the bathroom to do my hair...had to do that on the bed and then my plugs kept falling out of the cheap 6-way outlet attachment. I'm from Minneapolis so am use to larger chains such as Embassy Suites and the Hilton so I was a little shocked at first.... you get what you pay for in this hotel, but if you're looking for nothing fancy, this does the job. Actually, by the morning, I was ready to stay in such a "homey" place another night. It wasn't so bad afterall, and the bed was pretty comfortable. I guess you can't judge a book (or a hotel) by it's cover!

Old small poorly maintained rooms. No thermastats...stayed in November and had to open windows to cool off. Small parking lot. That being said the location was very convenient for the Methodist hospital so if you're looking for an inexpensive place close to the hospital and can put up with am old room this may be the place for you.

Then location of the hotel was ideal for us. It was right across the street from Methodist Hospital where my mom was to have surgery. The Pannekoen Restaurant - located at the hotel - has great food. The rooms were small, the paint on the bathroom walls was peeling, & the temperature was stifling. Because the hotel is so close to the Mayo Clinic and Methodist Hospital - I am sure the rooms are full the majority of the time. I do think the rooms could use some freshening up.

The stay at this hotel will be one where you are always greeted with a friendly hello. A staff that literally will offer to assist you before you ask. The attached family style restaurant and bakery also had a friendly and upbeat staff that will compliment your stay. You are 1 block from the Mayo Clinic, less than 1/4 block from the nearest access to the subway (walking) system. Accross the street from the Methodist Hospital. Two of the best restaurants are literally across the street and many more within a 2 block radius. If driving or renting a car, there is on site resonably secure free parking and the staff can give you dozens of recommendations to area restaurants and other local points of interest. The building is older and still retains much of it's architectural charm while neccesary upgrades have been performed (windows, electronic locks). Comparatively, we found this hotel to be at about a 40% discount to others hotels that were only slightly closer to the Mayo Clinic or were on the subway (walking) network. It was a genuine value that allows one to put those savings to other uses such as seeing other significant area attractions within an hours drive such as the National Eagle Center, the Mississippi River valley and numerous others. The bottom line is that the staff can make or break any establishment, starting with Sharon at the the check in, this staff "makes it".

This is a very old hotel. The rooms smell, bathrooms were dirty. The windows in our first room did not even lock. Because it is inexpensive, this hotel attracts guests that can be somewhat scary. The police had to break up a fight in an adjacent room at 1 a.m. Took police at lleats 20 minutes to arrive after the screaming started. Would not recommend this hotel!

I was very happy with the location, but the room was way too small and it was not remodeled. The bathroom was awful and the pillows were very uncomfortable.

The hotel is old. Each room has its own issues. The room I was in had a tub that was difficult to get out of. It was a good 4" of the bathroom floor, so stepping out of it meant a big step. (It doesn't sound like much, but we were down there as a men's basketball team and everyone commented on it.) Just getting into our bathroom was difficult. We had to step into the shower to close the door. Other room had a step up to get into their bathroom, but everything else was fine. The size of our room was tiny. Our friend’s room was long, but the space wasn't useable. It's understandable why the rooms are what they are. The building is old. The location is great, and this is why they are still in business. Walking distance from the Mayo, Chesters, and many other establishments like restaurants, comedy clubs, and bars. The staff was friendly, but not all of them were knowledgeable about the hotel, area, or the hotel business in general. I think the person who checked me in said it was her first day. She looked like she was still in high school and she was working alone. Parking was very close, and covered in the room fee. Overall, the value was there relative to other hotels in the area. However, if you’re looking for a pool or hot tub or in-hotel entertainment in general, look somewhere else.

I don't think I've ever been in a room that small. Hotel was located in a great spot. We were able to walk every where we needed to go. Lot parking was very convenient and they ended up parking it for us as lot was full when we arrived. We were able to check in early to get to an appointment. NICE. Think were were in the smallest room on that floor at least ( from the map, anyway). A little pricey for the size of room but with parking it was worth it.

This hotel had very friendly helpful service. The room was very clean and tidy, but old fashion. We had appointments at the Mayo Clinic and it is right on the campus we had a block and a half to walk to the admin desk. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has an appointment at Mayo. However, since the plumbing was old fashion there is no air conditioning, so the six weeks of summer that Minnesota gets might be uncomfortable, but otherwise great hotel for the price.

This hotel is definitly a 2 star hotel. Room was small and very outdated. Bathroom was adequately clean but again very outdated. All I needed was a bed to sleep in the night before a big interview so I didn't mind the dinginess but I would not recommend this place for any extended stay. The location is great b/c it's so near the Mayo Campus but I think there are better options on the edge of town.

Great location, but terrible hotel. Rooms are tiny, dirty and very outdated. I was scared to take a shower in the bathtub. Not worth it!!
