Lord Elgin Hotel - أوتاوا

We enjoyed our stay at the Lord Elgin. The beds were comfortable and our room was very clean. However, the clerk that checked us in was not very friendly. I tried to ask for dinning options and was handed a map and told that I could fine restaurants down further on Elgin Street. That was all she would tell me, no true suggestions as to which one to go to or even the types available. The next morning the clerks were very helpful and friendly. Other than that it was great, and we found it close to the NAC and Parliment Hill which was what we wanted. Shopping is also close by.

This was the first family trip to Ottawa and I wanted this trip to be memorable. I picked this hotel because it has good ratings and also review. It was not cheap but I though I would be a treat for my family (we paid $150 + $25 parking) However, we had terrable experience at this hotel. When we tried to use the bathroom first time, my wife noticed that the toilet was covered with brown spots. When we called front office, they were not accommodative. They sent cleaner and gave us free starbuck voucher and some drinks as complement. (we found out that all guests should receive there starbuck vouchers when you check in. But we didn't) Second day, we waited 20 minutes for our car to only found out that our car was covered with dust. The driver didn't say anything so I had to ask for explanation. His comment was " there is construction happening their parking site and I hope rain will wash it away." Is this worth $25+tips for the service? Third day, we happened to see the bottom of bed sheet and found out the sheet was never changed. It was huge stained and tucked under the bed. It seems like families are kept on the same area. Just because we have small children we should receive less service! Another thing is there is not note on the website but beside the hotel, new building is being built. We will never stay at this hotel for sure.

I will be staying there again for sure and will recommend to my friends. Staff was spectacular.

Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Staff were great. Room was just ok, had a view of an outside wall...pretty dissapointing.

1st time stay:fast check in. good size room. bath robe and slippers, comfortable beds, no comforter/cover and very rumpled sheets ( unusual for a hotel) but clean. broken bathroom faucet. could book there again but not my first choice considering the high quality of competing hotels in downtown ottawa

you get what you pay for

I had 2 good experiences with the Lord Elgin many years ago. This third one proves that my "souvenirs" were right. Nice place. Quiet. With a beautiful part just in front of the hotel. Definitely worth returning.

Our vacation was a "staycation" as we live in Ottawa, but we took the time to sight see and eat out and have a family get together away from the house. It was wonderful and I would recommend the hotel ..It was clean, the service was excellent. I needed a wheel chair and they had one. Location was perfect and the rate we obtained was good as well. Hotels.com helped me find the right hotel. Thank you.

We stayed at the Lord Elgin for 3 nights (Mon-Wed), two adults and two kids (7 and 4). The room was big enough, clean and comfortable. We booked at last minute and got what we think is a good price. The location was good to us, 20 minutes walk from the Museum of Civilizations, 15 minutes walk from the Nature museum. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant is pretty expensive; there are chipper places one or two blocks on Elgin st.

I was thrilled with my room. It was classy, comfortable, and clean. However, you have to pay for a valet service (not specified on the website), pay extra for internet (who does that anymore!) and the TV conked out so I had to get someone to come up and fix it. But the chef burger was the best burger I've had in a long time, the mattress was amazing, and I love the selection of pillows.

I must say, traveling to Ottawa for the first time was a great experienced one. The where I stayed at was great on budget price. The location, it situated close to amenities and recreation. I would definitely stay there again

We were very pleased with the hotel. There were only two issues. First, the breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel is not very good. We found it over priced for what we received. Second, when we arrived at the hotel to check in, we were asked to move our car as not to block the driveway. We had no issues with this request. When we went to leave the hotel, we were actually unable to leave as two cars were blocking the driveway. We had to wait in our car for 20 minutes. This was after waiting 20 minutes for the valets to bring up our car.

Our well-appointed room on the fifth floor offers a pleasant pespective of Confederation Park. We received a pleasant, sincere greeting upon our arrival and were served expeditiously at the front desk. The room itself met our needs and was clean and airy. The concierge was very helpful in terms of identifying points of interest. I will definitely stay at The Lord Elgin on our next visist to Ottawa

My husband & I just spent a week in Ottawa at the Lord Elgin Hotel. The location was fantastic! Minutes away from the National Arts Center & the Byward Market. Would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Ottawa.

Overall, after getting a very good deal on the room price, our stay at this hotel was decent. The building itself is quite nice and the room itself was much like any other hotel room anywhere. The thing that really annoyed me was that, after a long drive amd late check in, we were told $25 valet parking for the weekend. It was too late check out other parking so we agreed. However; it turns out the parking cost was PER DAY and they would do nothing about the incorrect info provided a check-in. Rather annoying!

Our stay was great at the Lord Elgin. It is close enough to walk to the Rideu Center, Byward market and Parliament. Our room was clean but very small, it was ok since there was only 2 of us, would have wanted a bigger room if our family was with us. The front desk staff was helpful to suggest off site dining and give us information about the Casino in Gatineau. Definatley will chose this hotel again.

Good hotel, except my room was too hot and there was almost no airflow from a/c-fan ventillation. Asked maintenance to fix, but all they did was open the window, which helped, but then there was street noise. Have stayed here before and this was not a problem, so am giving the hotel a 4 out 5 star rating. Hopefully they will fix the a/c before I visit again ...

Lord Elgin is a nice hotel, not ultra-fancy, with very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient to Parliament, the Market area and skating canal.

This hotel is in a great location-close to shopping mall, canal, market all within walking distance. Did not see much of hotel since we were only there for 1 night. Went to bar, menu was a little fancy for a bar, could not find any apps to snack on. Staff was super nice and helpful!

We stayed at the Lord Elgin during Winterlude. We parked right across the road at the arts center which is $10 per day on weekends (no in out privilege) vs $25 for the hotel. We had a reasonable room in the newer part facing the park. The room was basic with a large flat screen TV and despite being no smoking smelled like smoke. The view was great, especially with winterlude across the road. It was a bit noisier than the rooms at the back (the front is on a busy street) but it didn't bother us. It was great having a Starbucks downstairs although it didn't open till 8am. The location of the hotel is fabulous. We didn't need our car and walked everywhere. You are close to the parliament building, bymarket, museums etc. We did want a hotel with a pool and the Lord Elgin does have a pool but it was very small and crowded. There is a hot tub as well but it is right by the pool and so the kids are hopping straight out of the tub into the pool which is fun for them but not great as an adult. Overall we had a fun visit and enjoyed our stay.

Cannot beat the location or the price (although parking is high, $28 w/tax), staff is super friendly and very helpful. Within walking distance to Byward Market and National Gallery.

Buffet breakfast was great. Our only issue was the parking - there is only valet parking, no self parking.

second stay in 2 years, Both times very clean room. Friendly service, quick check in and out. Great location for on foot acces to Byward market, canal skating, rideau center ... The service at breackfast was a bit rough and the meal slow to come but ...delicious and warm will go again to stay.

It was a great place to stay, rates were reasonable and location was very good. Parking was quite expensive ($25/day). There is a Starbucks in the Lobby, real bonus. The pool area was a bit disappointing. The hot tub was dirty and the pool was freezing. That being said, I would stay there again, given the size of the room and the cleanliness of it.

We very satisfied with our stay at this hotel. The only comment I might have is in the regard to the service in the restaurant, where we didn't receive a proper treatment. Basically, our waiter was incompetent. Also the mattress wasn't very comfortable.

The service was the best I have had in a long time . They treated us like royalty it was great.

Just stayed at the Lord Elgin for 3 nights last week. It was a nice hotel. I could have used the wireless internet for a few days but other than than it was very good. The wifi situation is being resolved this year apparently.
