Overall, the staff was nice. However, the parking situation along with getting cabs from the hotel was horrendous. The worst part about the stay was the bed. it had a giant creator on one side of it. I booked it for two people and only one of us was able to be comfortable. I still have back pain. Other than that, it was not very clean and did not smell so good either. You need better rating system hotels.com

I was there for business and all of places I needed to be were within decent walking distance. The hotel is very close to major Baltimore public transportation (1 block or better) so if I had wanted/needed it would have been easy to get around the city. I had seen reports of bed bugs being reported at this hotel which was bothersome. However, I found that for my room it was not an issue. The staff did a good job of servicing the room every day. It was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was OK (ate there the first night), but considering the choices around Inner Harbor, it was better to walk a few blocks and have many food choices.

This is an older hotel which has been well maintained through the years. My room was very nice- small but clean. I especially liked the queen size sleep number bed. I've never tried one of these and it was a fun novelty. Decent wireless internet connection and lots of hot water. Even free water bottle- a nice and appreciated touch. Hotel lobby has a nice coffee shop with take out stuff. The hotel is a block from the convention center and within a short walk of all the Baltimore harbor stuff. Highly recommended- would definitely stay there again. The staff was super helpful and efficient at check in.

Room was only clean 2 days out of the 4 days I stayed. I had to ask to get it cleaned and made up. Ran out of toiletries. Service in the Grill fro breakfast was significantly understaffed both days I had breakfast there. Rooms are very dated. You dont want to walk to far from the hotel. Significantly depressed area and it was hard to not be approached by folks down on their luck looking for money. Pay the extra money and stay right beside the Baltimore Convention Center.

The hotel was difficult to find. Parking was challenging. There is no area on this hotel's website to tell you where to park. The receptionist at the front desk was not very accomadating. The room was not clean, there were no pens in the room, the phone didn't work for in house calls to the front desk, I booked a king room and was given a queen. The bed was supposed to be sleep number but it was so old and worn that if felt as if I was sleeping on a blow up Areo bed.

I was there on business but my sisters came to be with me one night. They ventured downstairs to eat breakfast in the restaurant in the hotel and had a horrendous experience. It started with a hair in the food, then a guest vomiting a few tables down and the clean-up was anything but prompt. My sister had to remind the staff that the mess had occurred at which tine an employee brought out a cloth and tried to clean it up with that. Obviously this is a rare occurrence but it was handled so poorly, That along with the condition of the hotel made the stay distasteful.

Sleep number bed control did not work. Wallpaper peeling. Only decaf coffee in the machine. Room spacious but shabby. Off site parking not noted in sign up information, so cost for valet parking was additional. Within a few blocks of inner harbor, but unsure of walking the neighborhood at night. OK in daytime.

They should have informed us that they were doing construction EVERY night until 11pm. The jack hammers and construction noise made it very difficult to get any sleep. I had early meetings each day (up at 530am) so I really needed my sleep.

Loved the hotel and staff...problems I had were homeless people sleeping and using the bathroom near hotel and bridge demolition. I had to hear jack hammering all day on SATURDAY AND SUNDAY and clangin, setting up for the demolition, all night long. I wish i would have been warned about this so i could have changed locations. Homeless people living in the streets and nearby square using the bathroom in public and begging for money.

Beautiful, grand old hotel. Lobby is gorgeous. Was able to check in early but was given a queen instead of the requested king. Room was tiny and dark. I complained and was given a large room w/a king. Sleep number bed was good on one side and not so much on the other. Was great for my horrible back, though. Service was impeccable, especially Russell at front desk and Tony the porter. Went out of their way to help us repeatedly. Breakfast at the cafe was great & cheap. Neighborhood was not the best, but we weren't bothered by anyone. Would definitely stay there again. Fantastic deal for the money.

It was an older hotel, but I thought it was classy looking. The employees were very professional and helpful. Withing walking distance to the 2 places we were interested in, the First Mariner Arena and the Inner Harbor. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The place needs a tlittle tlc, no parking for the guets itt's location is not bad is close to everything, but by 11:00 pm the area is a ghost town , a few homeless and thats it, during the day total oposit, very safe and alot of places to go to my stayng was very good, oh and the bed was very, very confortable.

Overall this hotel was fine. Elevators were old and not running very smoothly. No internet or Wifi in the hotel that I could find (maybe in the lobby). Nothing telling us about internet or Wifi. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were VERY helpful. Location was convenient, but not the best area (don't go to 7/11 too late at night)

Beautiful hotel, convenient to Camden Yards, lack luster parking but overall great place to stay, especially loved the sleep number bed.

They are pet friendly which is a huge plus. They have a $50 deposit for pets which they do not tell you is non-refundable. That is in addition to the pet fee/per night. The hotel is fine. No better or worse than any other. But they are not upfront about the additional fees even when I called and asked ahead of time which is not cool. The location is great, walkable to the harbor, camden yards, etc. The neighborhood is trying to be nice.

I would not stay at this hotel again. Traveling for business and had to stay or I would have left the first night.

The staff provided gracious and warm service. My room needed more thorought cleaning of detail areas---fingerprint smears on windows & full-legnth mirror, fridge door, etc. But the linens and most-used surface areas were spotless, and it was a very comfortable room. The hotel is not quite in its prime right now; the wallpaper was bubbling in a few places, or needed minor repair. But a much more reasonable rate for the location, and very comfortable stay.

GREAT LOCATION for CONVENTION CENTER & STADIUM Clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient to highway and mass transportation, parking, convention center, the waterfront, food service and the price was right compared to other hotels in the area. This hotel just had it all. Who cold ask for anything more. Go for it! Jim Traveling for business

Very beautiful and historic building in downtown Baltimore. You will be very surprise by the ambience of this historic hotel. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Very clean rooms with great quality beds.Spent two nights there and sat in the lobby with friends to have a beer . Felt like I was back in time when employees really appreciated your presence. Loved that aspect of my stay.

Rooms in this hotel really need to be cleaned and updated. The hanging-mirror-sliding doors to the closet did not stay on their track. Electrical outlet in bathroom did not work. No hair dryer or clock in the room. TV cabinet door won't stay open to allow viewing. Bath tub looks dirty. This was all in room 1127. Housekeeping attendant called about the missing clock but no one ever brought one to the room. The room had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival, as evidenced by little glitter "stars" all over the floor from one side of the room to the other. The worst, though, was the parking garage fiasco. Upon check-in we were given a map and directions to the parking garage with whom the hotel has an established relationship. Prior to checking out of the hotel, 4 days later, I asked at the Front Desk if anything was required of me before I went to retrieve my car from the garage. They said everything was "all set". Prior to checking out, we went to retrieve our car so that we could bring down our luggage and put it directly into our vehicle. When we tried to exit the garage, we were told that we owed the garage for four nights at their regular daily rate. Our hotel statement showed that we had already paid for the garage, at a discounted rate too, ($7.50 less per night). Finally the garage attendant called the hotel, but they (the garage and the hotel) still could not prove that we had already paid. The only way it could be resolved that day (March 25, 2012), was for us to wait while someone from the hotel walked down to the garage (a couple of city blocks away) and brought with them a special "blue ticket". This blue ticket was something the hotel should have provided to us, it turns out. But even when I inquired about needing anything special, I was never told anything about this magic blue ticket. Yes, it was resolved, but not before we sat in the garage entrance next to their parking lot attendant for about 30 minutes. This is the worst customer service I've ever

Looking at the hotel online it seemed charming. The pictures portray a style that might be seen in the 1920's-40,s. Although this style was present it definitely showed its years. Many of the walls and floors had scuff marks, broken tiles, and worn carpet. The furniture was worn and looked aost to be the originals, just not in a good way. The sleep number bed was not comfortable and was equivalent to sleeping on an army cot. All in all I dealt that the hotel was in desperate need of a remodel and update. I will say though that it was located in an ideal place to see downtown, just not for parking.

A short walk from the harbor, this was the perfect location for the pricing. Unfortunately from the time I pulled up to the front to the last day of my stay, I found the majority of the staff to be rude. Instead of it being a rare occasion to come across poor service; it was actually rare to receive friendly service at this hotel. Several time when asking the staff for assistance they were outright sarcastic to me. The dining experience was also less than favorable. Breakfast buffet was stocked with old, rubberish food and taken down within 10 minutes of my seating with no warning. Happy hour appetizers cost twice as much as quoted on the current website and when brought to the managers attention, he just said "oh that information is old". The one consistently good thing about this hotel was location.

The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. We've stayed here a number of times and the service is very consistent. This year the city was a bit noisy during the night. I expect it was due to contruction....not something under the hotel's control. I will be using this hotel again.

We stayed here 2 nights with another couple for a weekend get away. We both had king rooms that very nice. The hotel is a bit dated but everything was clean and fresh. As we sat in the lobby bar one evening looking at the decor we discussed how nice it is to have a building of this age still in use and they have kept the same feel/look as it would have had back in the day. Hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable. We had a short walk to the inner harbor, but I wouldn't recomment walking down Balitmore St to the left as you leave the hotel at night. We made the mistake of coming back that way one night and there are many "adult" places trying to get you to come in. We had no trouble we just walked passed it but for those that are easily scared I wouldn't recommend it. The easier route to avoid this is just cross the street at the hotel and walk down the first street...I believe it was Charles and then left on Pratt. We never had any issues day or night going that way. We had a great time, a wonderful stay, and the hotel employees were excellent...we would definately stay here again.

Got there and was extra charge a night for double beds and for parking. The savings I thought I got turned around to be wiped right away. If I knew that I would have stayed closer to my event. The night noise of yelling and screaming from the street below could be heard on the 12th floor and woke me up, as it sounded to be in the hallway. Over all the place is out dated and needs improvement. cracked bathroom tile that rocks when stepping on it. Ceiling cracks, dirty wall paper with stains, unknow stains on the matresses and dirty windows not allowing a view of the city.

Probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The beds were supposed to be sleep number beds and were the most unconfortable beds. Also there was obvious water damage in the bathroom and black mold. Would not stay here again.

The hotel was super close to first mariner arena. Which was awesome for our concert, but that's where the benefits of this hotel ends. Our room was a corner room, which I was excited about, but this historic hotel is soo run down that the perks of an historic hotel are ruined by the lack of upkeep. When we entered our room, every drawer was opened. The TV was at least 15 years old, and the bathroom was falling apart. I wouldn't recommend taking a shower, besides the fact that the tub was tiny and gross, the hot water became so scalding during my husband's shower that he still has a burn on his foot. (He was no where near the faucet when this occurred.) The room was so full of furniture that ironing my clothes was difficult. In a hotel like this it's okay to not have an extra chair. There are no food options in walking distance open after 11pm unless you want a bar scene, and room service isn't open either. Your option? Walk down to the front desk, get two take out menus and wait 90 minutes for luke warm, lack luster food to be delivered or starve. Also if you buy the parking package, which I did, because I knew it was in the heart of the city, be aware that it is self park and NOT valet. I had to pay an additional $15 dollars for that. Not to mention the tips to the valets themselves. There are many other hotels in the immediate area, my suggestion is to stay elsewhere. I'd rather stay at a Days Inn or a Motel 8 than visit this hotel again. But the Sheraton next door is where I'm staying next time! ps Brad Paisley is AMAZING in concert and the area is cool. I will definitely going back to Baltimore!

The hotel staff was very friendly, but when I went into my room there was a leftover KY gel packet insert left on the chair from the people who stayed in the room before me and also there were pubic hairs on the comforter. Sick. Then, to add insult to injury, I left my room key in my room accidentally one day and when I went to the front desk to request a new key, they did NOT ask for any form of identification, and they didn't even ask my name. They just asked what room I was in and made me a new key. As a young girl in her 20's staying by myself, it was NOT very comforting to know that ANYONE could get a key to my room if they just asked for my room number. Definitely didn't make me feel very safe. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone - I may have just had a particularly bad experience, but from that experience I would not recommend this hotel.

Decor is very dated and some things in the room were a bit worn (eg carpeting). The location was convenient to the convention center (about a ten minute walk). It was a little scary walking to the hotel at night (many vagrants abound the surrounding area) but fortunately without incident. The room itself was very comfortable, especially the sleep number bed! They have self-parking for 15 dollars a night, but its a hike to get to the parking garage. Overall worth it for the price, but definitely not the most modern or nicest place in town.

The customer service at the hotel was excellent, and the price was great. But I'm no fan of the sleep number bed in the room, maybe it was old or broken but my back is killing me. Also the bathroom needs an update. Other than that it really is a lovely hotel, gorgeous lobby, and it was quite easy getting around the city from there. The Parking garage is about one block from the hotel so that was very conenient as well. And the restaurant recommendations were great.

The Staff was very courteous and helpful.. Last time I stayed at this hotel was January 2010. Since then, the Corporation taht owns this facility is letting this hotel depreciate. My room had mold on the walls, the carpeting had spots and was very worn, lots of dust under the headboard, the telephone jack was hanging off the wall, and only had a stub for the hot water handle in the Tub/Shower . The number bed did not work. Definitely will not stay there again.

Wallpaper was peeling off, ceiling showed signs of water damage. No internet in the room. Suppose to have wireless in the lobby, but had real problem connecting my Ipad. Sleep number bed was the most uncomfortable bed I evel slept on. Also hotels.com never mentioned that this hotel charges extra for 2 doble bed room (one king is a standard room). No fee late check out was a nice surprise.
