Hotel was great!

Hotel staff was friendly. Comfortable stay. Nice bar area. My only complaint is that we were told to turn our music down and then off. All I was playing was a tiny iPod player that wasn't loud at all, but the security was very rude and threatening to kick us out so I had to turn it off completely. LAME

Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy check in- check out. We were there to attend an event at the nearby sports arena and shuttle service made it a breeze getting there and back.

We are so glad we chose to stay here. It was within a block of the event we were attending, and at a fraction of the price of other lodging options. All in all, a great weekend stay for our visit to Houston.

This chain has a very good reputation which did not disappoint; our one complaint was that we we were not notified up front that this location was valet-only parking. Also, we both arrived after midnight but were charged the parking for the night before. At $25 each, that's a lot of money to pay for something you didn't use:(

This was a perfect hotel stay. The rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was great!! I'll be staying there again.

This was perhaps the strangest room I have had in my 40 years and over 1 miilion flight miles of traveling. The room was a long narrow triangle with all glass window walls except the one interior wall. Even the bathroom wall was a full side-to-side, floor-to-ceiling window. The configuration of the room made for a very odd and cramped room lay-out. The room was cold, perhaps because of all the glass and the configuration. The overall experience of my stay was very good. The staff was excellent, the cleanliness and ambience of the property was first rate. I will stay here again, but will immediately ask for a different room should they assign me one ending in "32".

I had stayed at this hotel once before during a festival and my family and I were very pleased, so we returned. Once again, they met our expectations. Make sure you check out the Houston Pavilions just a few blocks down Dallas St. some good dining choices, lounges, and the House of Blues are there. In regards to the location all major highways are close. Will definitely go back!

The location was not ideal, after hours there is not much open. The front desk staff are wonderful and very helpful. The room was nice but the bed mattress fell off the frame so it tilted a bit. it was too late to call anyone to take care of it. Unfortunately, even as a Hilton Hhonors member, internet was not free in the room. There is a very significant valet charge for your vehicle that was not known when I booked the room. Restaurant on site and serves fantastic food although a bit pricey.

I've seen ballets and plays in the area, and I choose to stay at the Doubletree every time. It is located in a convenient and easy to access area, and the service is great. There could be a few more restaurants around, but it's not too hard to find them in downtown anyway.

Pros: The warm cookie always makes my day- I love staying at the Doubletree. This one was in an ideal location for me- 1 mile from the convention center, an easy walk. The staff was very friendly. Cons: My room had toenail clippings on the floor (gross!) and also a dry cleaning tag. Yuck. The biggest drawback for me was that the TV picture was HORRIBLE! To put my comment in context- I don't even have TV at home- no cable, no antenna, I have a physical TV that I use for DVDs once every couple of months. When I go away, having a TV is a little "luxury" so I was soooo disappointed to put the TV on in my room and find everyone had a sunburned appearance to their face. The TV controls did not allow me to adjust the picture. What a huge let down!

There was a mistake when we checked in. Our reservation was for a King Corner room with big windows and King Bed. They checked us into a double with 2 queen beds. Although the room was nice, it wasn't what we wanted. But they wuickly changed our room and gave us what we wanted. And they gave us 2 breakfast vouchers for our troubles. Over all, it was still a very nice stay. We truely enjoyed our room!

no microwave or refridge and an extra charge on my debit card

Everything the hotel had control over was great--very comfortable, great cookies, nice breakfast buffet, good location...HOWEVER, our neighbors to the left had visitors coming and going until 3 am--knocking, slamming doors, laughing and talking loudly in the hallway AND our neighbors to the right were up at 7 am with 4 men talking loudly such that we could clearly hear their conversations. We slept between 3:30 and 7:00 am and we were EXHAUSTED. My suggestion to the hotel would be to put singles/couples in one part of the hotel and those there for parties/weddings/reunions in another part.

Great rate, excellent service, delicious breakfast. Loved it!

We took the Valet shuttle service to the Nutcracker Ballet at Wortham Center and being from out of town, we did not know which building was the Wortham Center; however, the shuttle driver didn't either. We were let off at the Hobbe Center and found out that we had to walk 2 1/2 blocks to the right building. Actually, we had to run to make it in time as there is no late seating for the ballet. Upon our return, we called for the shuttle driver to pick us up in front of the Wortham Center. We still don't know where he went, but we waited over 30 minutes (we were told he would be there in 7 minutes) and had to get on the cell phone with the driver to give him the name of the streets to find the front of the Wortham Center. Please suggest that they train their shuttle drivers to find all the important buildings in downtown Houston. Upon request the hotel did comp our valet parking ticket. Wh

Clean room, great views. I would say that rooms were a bit on small size for the price but not too bad. Good service. Friendly staff.

Best hotel to stay at after a concert at the verizon wireless!

This is a great location but you can clearly hear your neighbors through the walls of the rooms. We could hear the man next door cough as if he were in the room with us! Also, the food in the restaurant is good, but the service is horrendous. And you have to pay valet parking. There is no self-park option!! Otherwise, it is a very clean hotel with a nice lobby and rooms.

My mom told me that this was the hotel that had the cookies... the cookies? Well, did they ever have cookies because when my boyfriend and I checked in, the woman behind the counter handed us two warm, walnut/chocolate chip cookies. Yummy! Our room was very nice and had an amazing top floor view of the entire city of Houston! Feeling like high rollers, we ordered room service and spent the rest of the relaxing afternoon getting ready for our party. What a great hotel; we can't wait to go back!

The hotel room, lobby, staff, etc. were nice and good enough but there is NOTHING going on around this hotel on the weekends. Even McDonald's was closed on Sunday. Also, I wish there was a microwave or a refrigerator in the room.

Double tree always does me good. But the bartender this night was a little on the dim side

I would recommend it to anyone visiting Houston and needing to stay in the downtown area.

The hotel had a very nice staff, the room was clean, comfortable and had a trendy decor. Our room wasn't quite ready at check-in so they provided us drinks at the hotel bar while we waited. After I returned home, I realized I had left my cell phone in the hotel room. Housekeeping had found the phone and sent it to lost and found. I'll stay there again if not for any other reason......that one.

This was a very nice property for the rate. I had to be downtown, and it exceeded my expectations. Clean, comfortable bed, great bathroom, attentive staff.

This hotel was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel to others. We were on the 20th floor and the view was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. My only complaint is that you have to pay for valet parking. There was no other parking close by. Oh, and also there was not a pool if that is important to you. GREAT HOTEL overall!

We selected this hotel for a quick overnight stay downtown to see a show and spend some time with friends. I prefer Hilton brand hotels due to the overall quality and consistency and the price was reasonable for the location. We had not complaints whatsoever with the hotel or the room itself. The location is decent and reasonably close to theaters, bars and convention centers on the west side of downtown. Valet parking is $25/nt during the week and $15/nt on weekends. One issue we had was with the courtesy shuttle. When arriving at the hotel I asked the valet if their courtesy shuttle was able to drive us to a bar approximately 3 miles away. I was assured that they could take us and that the van was available until 10:45pm. We checked-in, went up to the room to drop bags and freshen up and then right back down to catch the van. I told a different bellman where we wanted to go and he assured me that the van would be back from it's run in approximately 10 minutes and could take us. The shuttle returns and we talk to the driver and who then tells us that they can't take us where we want to go. The supervisor gets involved and confirms that the shuttle will only take us within a few blocks downtown (what good is having a shuttle then!?). Long story short, we ended up getting a taxi (approx. $6-8 each way to where we wanted to go).

Wonderful staff; good breakfast; lovely rooms parking fees are outrageous.

This hotel surpassed my expectations!

l only gave 3 for service as we had to wait quite a while to check in while they "looked for our room".We did get a discount voucher to spend in the hotel restaurant for our inconvenience however the service was slow as there only seemed to be one person serving but she did her best and the food was good. The next morning at breakfst again there only seemed to be one person serving and we were not acknowledged or shown to a table,rest of service very good and the shuttle bus into downtown excellent. Room was lovely and the bed a 'dream' to sleep in

I spent quite a bit of time trying to find a comfortable hotel for my stay in Houston, and it paid off. The finishes at Double Tree were high end, but the room was still extremely comfortable. (Not a fan of antique furniture that looks great but feels horrible to sit on or utilize.) The bed and bedding were also very comfortable. I stayed in a spacious "King's Corner" room, which was well worth the upgrade from a regular room. The hotel staff was polite and friendly and the service was prompt. Be prepared for some manditory valet fee's. After a few days this adds up to a considerable chunk of change. The location wasn't the greatest for leasure purposes, but being downtown definitely offers some convenience. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my choice, and would definitely stay there again.

The staff, the service, the view, just everything...best stay ever. I will probably never stay anywhere else when I'm in Houston.

I've stayed at this hotel more than enough times to know to keep using it. Friendly staff, not uptight or rude. Service is exceptional and the rooms are always perfect for me; clean and ready.

I did not sleep all night due to some people having a very loud party. we called front desk like 5 times and after 2 hours they send security to stop the party. it was a bad experience for us and our little baby.

Enjoyed my stay, but was dissatisfied Wifi was not included with the stay at the upscale hotel!

I love the Double Tree, Hilton and Hampton Inn. I stay with them often as I travel 80% of the year. My room was terrible at this location though. I usually get a room near the Galleria, but booked downtown due to convenience this time. The A/C worked but took until 4 in the morning to get down to 67 degrees. The bed was very uncomfortable and I will never book here again. The Double Tree Galleria in theory shouldn't be any different than this one, but that was dispelled on this visit.

The staff (to a person) was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The young man behind the desk, the shuttle driver and the wait staff were all wonderful. It was even arranged that I could have an extended check out time due to an event I was attending ran longer than expected. We ate in the restaurant (I had the shrimp and grits). It was outstanding as was breakfast the next morning. The only draw back was the lack of a pool, but the only reason I wanted it was the 100 degree temperatures outside this summer. Loved it and will stay again.

This was a trip for my fiancees' mothers day gift which included the ballet. We arrived at around 3 and upon check in our reservation was not correct. I had to show confirmation for the correct room. We decided that we were gonna just eat room service the entire stay,, just spend quiet time together, BIG mistake. Wont get into details, but we mad three orders and had three incorrect orders and no utensils one time. Just a room service fiasco.

We had a desk person work very hard on our behalf to change another reservation. He went above and beyond the call of duty. Our waiter for breakfast was wonderful. The bed was a dream!
