Great. So much fun. Loved Bliss

This was my first time at a W Hotel. The hotel was great and the staff very helpful. I arrived around noon on my check-in day and was extremely pleased that the person at check-in allowed me to get into my room immediately. I was quite tired and she even upgraded my room to be able to get me in right away. That really enhanced my experieince with the hotel and made me happier than you can imagine. It allowed me to get a quick nap and then awake refreshed and ready to enojoy the many ours still left in my first day. I wil DEFINITELY stay in W Hotels whenever I can in the future! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I've stayed at this hotel before, but it must have been in a suite, because our room this time was incredibly tiny. It was very hard to sleep three people in a room with two doubles. Service was good, love the Bliss toiletries and brunch in the downstairs restaurant on Sunday was yummy. When it's good weather, great location.

From check-in to check-out the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The concierge: Lois & Luis I am convinced would be able to move mountains if you asked them to! ...in our case they found us last minute tickets to the Bulls game! The hotel was hip enough for all my kids to feel like they were someplace pretty cool. For mama, it was nice to be somewhere where everyone was there for me too, to make my stay just as enjoyable as it was for the kids. The lobby/bar/restaurant turned into a pretty cool place for people watching in the evening/night! The location of the hotel is within walking distance of Navy Pier where you can then take the city shuttle all over. Also, the hotel car service will take you anywhere withing 5 miles of the hotel! EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT TO DO IS WITHIN 5 MILES! We will definitely be going back there!

Love the hotel, a little further from Michigan Ave than I generally like to stay, but very convenient if you want to walk along the lakeshore! Great upbeat atmosphere.

The W has great views of the pier and is within walking distance of the shopping district. Having a pool and excercise room was great. We were pleased with the parking and valet service as well as the comfort of the bar. The only draw back is having a window in the bathroom open to your room...not planned well. I would stay here again.

Great place to stay to be close to the downtown action.

I travel once every 2 weeks or so for work and you can typically count on a great experience at a W. This one just happens to be showing it's age and could use a little TLC. I would still recommend due to the great service and location but the rooms aren't what you would expect from a W if you stay at them regularly.

Very friendly staff. Had some neighbors who liked to stay all night partying. Had to call security 3 nights in a row. Also the thermostat system didn't work very efficiently.

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times and have never been fully impressed. Pros: The restaurant and bar are great. Nice fitness facility and business center. Cons: The last times I stayed there I was put into 4 rooms - 1st a smoking room, when I specified non-smoking, 2nd a room with - in the hotel staff's own words 'an ironing board wrapped in a bathrobe on top of the bed' - which looked like a person to me at 10pm . 3rd - a rooms with used razors, half used shampoo bottles, garbage in the trash can, and towels on the floor - clearly not clean. Finally a clean room on #4! Probably won't go back.

The hotel is beautiful and has an amazing bar. I was given a complimentary upgrade because it was available. The hotel has smoking rooms which is hard to find these days, so its a definite plus if you are a smoker, and dislike cold weather. Only minor complaint is that our mini bar was half empty when we got to the room, however we showed them when they came to deliver a corkscrew to my room and made sure to note it on my account so that I wouldnt be charged. They have overall great customer service. Would definitely stay there again, and I am a local to Chicago.

We spend President's Day weekend here with our daughter, son-in-law and our young grandchildren. The internet room rate was moderate by Chicago standards. The location is good, but not great in the wintertime. Michigan Ave. is several cold and windy blocks away, but the neighborhood is safe and there are great restaurants and stores within walking distance. It is very close to Navy Pier, so it's a better summer hotel. The hotel is not the best for families. There is no kids' menu in the restaurant, and the pool area should have been several degrees warmer. Our room was comfortable, but the heating system was puzzling. When we arrived the room was 65 degrees with the air conditioning blasting. We managed to figure out the thermostat on our own. The duvet cover looked and felt a little like a tarp, but the bathroom was very nice, and the room was very clean. There should be clear written notices about where to find the room service menu and other services. Most of the pertinent information is on the hotel TV channel, but it took us awhile to figure this out. Desk service is brisk and efficient; housekeepers are friendly and welcoming. The lobby looks very modern and trendy, but there isn't a comfortable seat anywhere, and the loud, techno/jazz music plays incessantly, even at 6 am. I can recommend this hotel to young professionals and business travelers, but it's not the best for families with children.

We had one calamity after another." W" ould you rather an essay or a list? dirty comforter (some man had fun there if ya know what I mean) un cooked poultry dog barking down the hall hammering next door we did get a whoops card but we would have rather had a clean relaxing undisturbed stay. We recommend the La Quinta Inn in Searcy Arkansas for better room and service. Sorry W next time downtown we will go elsewhere.

Consistent and courteous staff...as always. A little far to walk from on a blustery Chicago night though.

I totally enjoyed the hotel i would stay again. i have no complains. just make sure you dont turn up the volume too high when playing to favorite song on that little radio with iphone dock that they have there. it can get really loud lol!!

Love this hotel!... My partner and I had a wonderful experience with the staff and especially with the other guests in the hotel! Everyone is super friendly and high class lol We are both Mexicans and found that we were accepted without any reservations into the "in-crowd" lol Of course you need to have and willing to spend lot's of $$$ if you want to really have a good time here... lol

Great Hotel definitely will come back again!!

We stayed at many W Hotel properties around the world with great impressions, but this one is a let down! It is not what, we think, W represents! Certainly one of the oldest, lowest ceiling, loudest A/C and not at all 5-star standard per its name tag! I have to admire the people and their services though, every single one we met from valet, front, bell as well as mechanic are very friendly and helpful. It's time to fix the property to match the staff!

I took my teenage niece here to stay for the weekend and it was amazing. The decor is ultra hip, the staff is very personable, and the guests seem to be in the younger adult range. That being said, we had a little issue with partiers in the room next to us, but other than that, the stay was wonderful. They really pay attention to the details. Make sure you use their chauffeur service to cut down on cab fares!! Also, be sure to take home their great Bliss toiletries. Really fun, and we'll definitely stay again.

I was very pleased with our room with a Lake View. The View is totally unobstructed and is Spectacular. We had some snow on Saturday Morning which turned the beaches white. The view of Navy Pier in the evening is beautiful. We used the Accura car service twice on our two night stay and our driver Beth was very friendly and helpful. The Whiskey Bar on the top floor is no big deal and way too expensive. The Wave Restaurant is no big deal. I would stay in this hotel again just for the view. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants in the area.

Nice hotel. Convenient to the Navy Pier. Great exercise equipment and pool. Two drawbacks. First, I called and reserved a king bed. The room was named "Wonderful King". I showed up to 2 double beds and no king available. Second, I felt like everywhere I turned someone was asking for a dollar....from the bottled water in the room, to the daily internet charge, to the valet parking (w/o an option for parking myself). Walking down the hall or where ever, the hotel staff were really nice, but because of all the other hands out, you felt like you had to tip them for telling you good morning.

Nice hotel for young people on vacation, bad for business travel. Business center awful, wake-up call a half hour late. Bar was cool and rocking all night. Location great.

Great Hotel, as per all W hotels, but there were a few excpetions: The iron was rusted and not used in months. The coffee pot (which I had to request) was broken. I asked for them to NOT deliver a paper & they did every morning, even though I called every morning to stop it. Great room, great view, blocks from my meetings, excellent food at dining room. Mixed bag I guess....

The W Hotel (Lakeshore) was a wonderful place to stay. I was in Chicago in early November for a conference and decided to stay the weekend. The W hotel beds are always a treat to sleep on, and the downstairs common area/bar/lounge was trendy and cool. I was impressed with the decor of the room and the layout with the cute window shutters that separated the bathroom from the common area. The room was brand new (newly renovated), clean, smelled nicely, and spacious. You also can't beat the location. Certain rooms overlook the Lake Michigan and others have a lovely city view down spacious Chicago avenues. The hotel is literally on the lakefront so you can step outside to go for a run along the river, or go to the Navy Pier with the kids for some fun. Two blocks away is the West Egg, a great place for breakfast, and even the most savvy local diners know to go there for a great meal! Go a few blocks further and you hit the Magnificent Mile - Michigan Avenue. This hotel is clean, hip, and in a great location. I'll stay here again!

If you happen to get a room with a view of the lake, it is exceptional! My only dissappointment this time was that my room smelled of cigarette smoke. The main reason I come to this hotel most everytime I stay downtown - the beds/pillows are like sleeping on a cloud and the WAVE restaurant has great food.

this place is more worried about how it looks than how it works. too dark, no privacy in bathroom, no water pressure. Ran out of coffee in lobby every morning before 10am. Tried to claim I had a different room reservation, until i proved them wrong with hotels.com reciept. All in all, not a comfortable place to stay, they are just trying to be trendy.

The service was excellent. Everyone I encountered from the W was helpful and extremely nice. The only bad part of this hotel was the bathroom. Their was mold in my shower and for the price of the room that seemed unacceptable.

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at the W. We really enjoyed it, except for the running toilet. The first time we stayed our toilet overflowed and it took two times to fix; this visit our toilet ran randomly throughout the night. The hotel staff was very apologetic for the inconvenience and offered to refund the cost of our room service order. Everything else was wonderful--you have to try the truffle fries!!! We will certainly stay again.

This hotel was much too trendy for me. I felt like I was stepping into a nightclub rather then a hotel.

Absolutely amazing service, cleanliness, and stunning lakeshore view...overacommadating staff and beautiful bars. Much check out Altitude and the 7th floor pool deck! We will definitely be back and recommend to all of our friends! It was a great engagement location!

Our stay at the W was below expectations. The view from our 31st floor was outstanding however our room was small and weren't able to get upgraded to a king room. There was a strange window (to increase the feeling of space?) between the bathroom and sleeping area that was hard to close and led to some embarassingly close calls. Cigarrette butts were in the decorative vase in the room. At one point 'a contractor' in street clothes keyed into our room to look at the bath tub, which made me believe that they had security issues despite the major hassle of having to use your key card to activate the elevator. There was no hot tub located in the pool area, which for this price i felt would have been obligatory, and the tub in the room was standard to small in size. There were nice outside seating areas, which were a nice relieve to the bustling lobby. However much of the outdoor seating was filled with smokers- despite it being just feet from the doorways. In attempts to accomodate the secluded location (if you are interested in going anywhere but michigan ave or navy pier) there was a car service from acura that helped us get uptown to meet friends for drinks. Between the poor lobby space that was meant for lounging but felt more like grand central station, the incessant electropop elevator music, small unimpressive rooms, and less than friendly front desk staff. The hotel printer wouldn't print my boarding pass and the concierge was more than a bit peeved that I didn't have my confirmation code pulled up on my phone in advance of him asking me, enough to snicker and prompt me again. I would say this W property is not quite up to par with it's sister properties. I would consider staying someplace else and then taking a nice walk to the pier and beach front areas.
