Wellington Hotel - نيويورك

This is the quote that greeted us on arrival at the Wellington Hotel, New York and it was very accurate! Situated right in the heart of everything and a stones throw from the Theatre District the Wellington is a must stay hotel!! Our room was beautiful, well decorated and appointed, a real treat to come back to after a long day of soaking in everything that fabulous New York has to offer. We will definately stay at the Wellington again and thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so special - 'Five Stars from the Bashford's!!!!'

Great coffee shop with free Wi-Fi across the street.

Hotel very central but needs upgrading. Don't take the stairs as you will be shocked at the condition

Do not stay here. It looked cute online but that did not translate into reality. When I checked-in, I was told I had been upgraded to a suite for free, I thought that was great - my positive experience ended there. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, it didn't feel clean, the air conditioner didn't work, everything was sub-par. Just don't stay here.

On first night there was a maiintenance issue with the room. Notified the front desk next morning and issue was totally resolved by early afternoon. Well done! Front desk was "short staffed" most of the time causing long wait times. Enjoyed our stay and proximity to theater, sights and restaurants was superb.

The rooms are with old furniture. The bathrooms are old. Some furniture was dusty. Location is perfect. I find it ridiculous to have to pay for internet services, it should be free. The paper in the printer in the lobby run out as I was trying to print boarding passes.

Very convenient to the subway, Central Park, & Fluffy's quick & delicious food. The N, Q, R subway is right out the side door and takes you straight downtown to Times Sq, Macy's and Union Square. This is the second time they have given me a room when I arrived in the morning and this room had an exceptionally nice view of Central Park. I was on the 27th floor and it was lovely and quiet. Very happy with the size, furnishing and comfort of the room. Look forward to staying again. Hope to get another fantastic, last minute rate again.

I had a family emergency (death) and asked to reschedule, anytime, even if its months ahead. I was told the hotel doesn't care at all and in order to reschedule I would have to buy a room again. Upon asking to cancel I was told the same thing. I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE and have been steering family and friends away from it. You get what you pay for. Upon inspecting the hotel while it looks nice and bright outside it looks like a cheap motel in the 80's in miami and reeks of failure. The quality here has been dropping for years and at this point they are just money hungry. If you god-forbid need something changed or rooms switched this hotel will just tell you to **** off and that your family doesn't matter, and will still take your money at that. What a waste of time and money.

My sister and I stayed there one night whiles husband was in the hospital. Our room was very clean and a large for a New York city hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Very good budget hotel. Very impressed with the value for money and the size of the rooms.

We had two rooms and stayed in the hotel for two nights. The two rooms were close together and on the same floor - but very different from one another. One room was very nice and the other room was drab in comparison. The nice room had a full kitchen, many windows where we could see Carnegie Hall. The drab room had a half kitchen and only 2 windows looking out to a brick wall. Both mornings around 8:00am there was a lot of banging going on. Perhaps it was a loud furnace? It went on for about 2 minutes before it ended. The location is fantastic - right next to Carnegie Hall, a few blocks from Central Park, and within half a mile of Lincoln Center. Also a few blocks away from Time Square and a Subway station. Overall I think this was a great choice for us because of the location. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel so the "drab" conditions wouldn't keep me away again.

Worne, but nice hotel. Perfect location! Just irritating to have to pay for internet in 2012.

Very old, small rooms and no view at all

and the double bed was not sufficiently large enough for two, I felt. The bathrooms have been remodeled. For New York the size of the room is about standard. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The location is very good.

The only negative thing was the bed, small and unconfortable. Everything else was great!

The Wellington is in a great location with both Times Square and Central Park at walking distance. The room, like in most NYC hotels was small. The hotel was a bit dated but was a decent value for the price. During our stay, we had trouble with a noisy toilet . A few flushes into the stay we ended up with a flooded bathroom. Maintenance was quick to respond to try to minimize the inconvenience, but still not what you expect during your stay.

We wanted a hotel close to Broadway and Cetntral Park. We were able to walk to both.

We enjoyed a weekend stay at the Wellington---great location just a few blocks from Times Square and the theaters, and subway stop is literally steps from the front door. Room was basic, run down but clean--we spent little time there so no problem with that since rate was very reasonable for midtown Manhattan.

Great location, wonderful service and all the amenities one could need for a weekend stay in the city. Got a free upgrade to a suite, which was wonderful and considering the reasonable cost each night for the room, was much more than I could have expected. Friendly staff added to the ambiance!

I even got s view of Central Park which is two blocks away.

The room was clean and great location. However the bathroom was way too small. When showering the water would not drain and I found the water level mid-calf. The maintenance person could not fix it. It was unacceptable. The toilet paper roll could not be on the holder b/c it would be in our back/side...it was just way too small (and we are NOT big people) Due to the bathroom alone I will not stay there again.

We got 2 bedrooms for only $220/night! That's unheard of in NYC. Wish I'd known about this hotel years ago. My travel partner and I reveled in each having our own bedroom AND a kitchen sink with microwave! Location was fantastic: 2 blocks from Central Park, right next to Carnegie Hall, and 5 blocks from Time Square. I plan to stay here again and again.

The hotel is located in close proximity to the Central Park and the Times Square. Park Cafe, adjacent to the hotel serves delicious and inexpensive authentic New-York breakfast. On check-in, I received a free upgrade to the suit. Hotel personnel was very nice. The only disadvantage is there is no free TV and Internet in rooms and room interiors are shabby. But, for a short stay this hotel is just perfect.

The first thing we did not appreciate was that the receptionists were rude and pedantic. They didn't let us check in before 3pm even though we came all the way from CA with a red-eye flight. The rooms -that they were supposed to clean and get ready until 3pm- were not clean at all. We had to ask them to change our room in the middle of the night because the bed sheets seemed to be wrinkled and probably have not been changed prior to us. Plus, bath towels, shampoo, clean cups etc. were missing and the lamp was broken. The new room they gave us, on the other hand, was still not in a perfect shape either and the heater was not working.. After having a cold night, they would still claim that it was our job to call the maintenance (later than midnight) to get it fixed. We would expect that the hotel management would take more responsibility in that sense. Next day we got furious first thing in the morning with the elevator not working.. Then, we asked for concierge and figured out that it does not exist in this hotel. The doorman said he could help us but he basically gave short, impolite answers which were neither helpful nor informative. The second night we asked for clean towels and it took them 2 hours to bring to the room - not to mention, after making more than 5 calls to housekeeping as well as to the reception. I might have forgot some other inconveniences but I guess enough have said. We strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone seeking nice personnel, good service and comfortable and clean rooms. The location was convenient but was not enough to stay happy.

We were very pleased with the service level we recieved for our stay.As many will say this hotel is an older building and can stand with some upgrading but it also has a old world charm you can't get in a newer hotel.The staff was fantastic and were there to answer any question and take care of any issues that came around.Our room was cleaned every day and when we had an issue with a TV remote it was replaced within 5 minutes.The location was close to everything you need to see and do but not to close to times square.Great location great value.

Great location for our trip - 2 min walk to central park and 5 min walk to Times Sq. Close to subways. Great reasonably priced diner attached to hotel. Room was good, had a fridge, microwave and kitchen sink. Internal door to seperate the 2 bedrooms. Only bad point was the noise of industrial sized air conditioners units outside. Room was on the inside of the block so dont know if they were the hotels A/C or not. But what can you expect of a busy major city?

Hotel is run down and the staff was average. Heater was stuck on in the room so the windows had to be left open. Noise made it hard to sleep. Staff came to fix but stated it was what it was because that's how it was made. Made no sense that there was a non-working thermostat on the wall if there was no way to control it. Disappointing to say the least,

My friends and I stayed at Wellington Hotel in NYC from 3/17 - 3/25 and we're so thankful we chose this hotel. The hotel room was very clean and a decent size. It is less than 5 min walk to Central Park and about 5-10 min to Times Square. There is a subway on the side on the hotel, so that was convenient as well. I would have to say though that best part of this hotel was the concierge. Our trip could have been average but because of the kindness of the concierge we had a wonderful experience. If I am ever back in NYC I will stay here again and I will recommend it to anyone I know!!

The wellington needs white bedspreads... white top spreads that are laundered & freshly changed with each new guest.. The patterned spreads felt dirty and I think the sheets had not been changed..

My room was old/tired - could have used a coat of paint - but otherwise clean (and teeny/tiny!). The hotel was packed so they're doing something right! Perfect location next to Carnegie Hall, near Times Square, easy on/off subways, etc. Didn't need any special services other than thinking the hot water wasn't working; they came up right away and all was AOK. As a single woman, it was a perfect spot and while I hope on my next trip I could afford something a little nicer/newer, I wouldn't hesitate going back here.

Only bad things I have to say about this hotel are: 1. The breakfast is at a diner nearby and is quite poor. 2. The bell-boy tried to take 10$ commission for ordering a taxi back to JFK (Wanted 61$ instead of a taxi I picked up at the street for 51$).

My wife and I were very happy with the Wellington. The rooms are comfortable enough and the staff are very helpful and polite. We had an adjoining room with sofa and tv. It is not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination but at the price it is best value for Midtown. You can fill 4 or 5 days doing sightseeing things within walking distance from the hotel. We used the train to get there from Newark (Airtrain and NJ Transit) to NYPenn and a short taxi ride to the Wellington. It worked out less than a third of what an airport taxi costs and took less than an hour which is what a taxi can take.
