We spend the weekend in at the Willard hoping to see the Cherry Blossom but due to the wind and odd seasonal weather, the blossoms were mostly gone by the time we arrived. The hotel however was good experience. From the valet, bell service, front desk and concierge were all responsive, customer oriented and friendly. We arrived a bit early and they asked for our cell phone to contact us when the room was ready as we enjoyed Washington, DC for a bit. The rooms were large and clean but sparcely decorated with the basics. The room seemed dark as there was just 1 window however it could have been that were on the 4th floor. Overall it was a good stay at a lovely hotel.

The hotel is conviniently locataed to access governmemnt offices and is within ease reach of many parts of the city. Staff are very pleasant and helpfull

The ambiance retains a historical look and feel without seeming "old," although the hotel is well over 100 years standing. Wonderful in every aspect, from entry to departure. Service, the best I have experienced anywhere, was consistently and uniformly excellent. Every person we contacted, at all levels of activity, was most pleasant and helpful, and promptly so. Much more could be said in praise, but would be repetitive.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff is friendly and they go above and beyond to make your stay worth the money. I can't wait to go back.

A legendary hotel that lives up to it's reputation. Everything was good: the accommodations, the restaurants, the service staff. It was a delight.

The entire experience was great. We could not have asked for anything more. The staff was beyond helpful, the hotel was beautiful, and everything was spotless. We most likely won't stay any place else when in Washington. Perfect location.

The Willard in Washington DC is in a great location for visiting the Mall or the White House. The lobby is always beautifully decorated at Christmas, and the week between Christmas and New Year's is a "downtime" in the city, so hotel deals are good. The staff are very attentive and competent, and the entire historic facility has been updated nicely while still honoring the historic roots. Highly recommended.

Staying at the Willard was THE BEST of the best!! The hotel itself is exquisite. The location is just where you need to be to take advantage of walking to memorials, museums and great restaurants. The staff was very, very professional...and so helpful. I have RAVED about our experience to everyone who asked "how was DC?"

The Willard is very historic, and therefore very old. The maintainence of the hotel is probably exceptional, but because it has kept most of its original structure the windows and doors are not insulated well, letting in lots of noise. I was on the 8th floor and was woken up at 6am by slamming doors from down the hall and fire trucks on the street both mornings of my stay (and I live in a city and am used to street noise). Aside from the usual old building hang-ups, the hotel is beautiful. The lobby is one of the best I've seen. The hotel bar is fun, exclusive, and a great place to people-watch. The hotel staff was also fantastic- super professional, but still conversational and friendly. The Willard is also in close proximity to all the major monuments, memorials, smithsonian, white house, etc.

Stayed here 15-17 Sept 11. This hotel I could not fault, from its rooms, polite friendly service, and location, everything was really very good. 5 mins walking distance to most main tourist sights, 5 mins walk from the White House (reflects in the price) but worthwhile the cost for a short stay if not on a tight budget. Also the french bistro adjoined to the hotel was also serving great food.

Wonderful hotel - prime location.

Absolutely outstanding in every category. Two blocks from the White House and Old Ebbitt Grill.....two DC landmarks. Within walking distance to the mall and conveniently located by subway. The room was so spacious and well-appointed. The staff could not have been more courteous and helpful. Can't imagine a more wonderful place to stay in Washington!

Disappointing as a romantic get away. The lobby is magnificent and historic but the room, especially the bathroom, is very dated and is comparable to staying at an average *** chain hotel.

Love this hotel. Perfect location. Old formal elegance. I think this is the best hotel in DC

upgraded to suite, wow, 5 stars, wow

Perfect location, beautiful furnishings and lobby, fabulous food at the "Park", all the hustle and bustle of Washington. Plus the circular bar was quite the spot; I think I liked it better than the roof top at the W.

This is a beautiful hotel one block from the White House. The ballrooms are stunning and peacock hall is breathtaking. The room had an excellent view of the Washington Monument as well as the Lincoln Memorial. The Hotel is right next to The Washington, which has a wonderful restaurant and an excellent rooftop bar in which you get a fantastic view of the White House. In the rear of the hotel is a wonderful museum which explains the deep historical significance of the Hotel as well as the famous politicians who stayed there or frequented the lobby. If you ever wondered where the word lobbyist came from, you can find out at The Willard. The price of the room was a little steep, but for only one night and the bragging rights to say... "I stayed at The Willard" it was worth it.

Age adds to the grandeur with location walkable to sights. The staff was attentive and rooms were comfortable.

I just stayed at the Willard. What a lovely hotel with lots of history. The room was nicely decorated and clean but still had its old time charm. The staff couldnt have been friendlier. My only objection was too the excessive price of goodies in the mini-bar. But that is easy enough to remedy by not buying anything! I will certainly stay here again when in DC!

This is a first class hotel of the old style. Great service and an awesome lobby. For tourists and those doing business in the capital, the location is very convenient. The restaurants and bars associated with the hotel are at the top of the scale in quality (and in price). In that regard, if given the choice of whether to have breakfast included in your room, pay the extra ten dollars a night and get it. The breakfast buffet is a very full and very varied full breakfast, but if you pay for it yourself, it will run you $25 per person. The only two downsides of the hotel are that the sound-proofing between rooms in the older part of the hotel is lacking. If you have talkative neighbors, you will a) not be undisturbed and b) know more about them than you want. The other very minor downside is that the very nice beds are for people who like very soft mattresses. The rooms are very lovely and spacious, however. Can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff. We only stayed one night for a get-away-from-it-all evening and we left feeling like we had been on vacation a week. The place is not cheap, but it is a great hotel.

This might be the best hotel I have every stayed in. The hotel is beautiful and the room was amazing. The location is perfect, you can easily walk to almost all the major sites and there are tons of restaurants and shops all within walking distance of the hotel. If you can stay here!!!!

Just the history of the Willard makes it worth the stay. The hotel has been in operation since 1814 and every president has stayed there since 1850. The current building was built in 1908 and still has the original front desk, tiled floor, marble columns, and gorgeous ceiling in the lobby with all 50 state seals (I guess some have been added along the way). If you are lucky enough to get a room in the rennovated section, the rooms are bigger than in the older section. The beds are perhaps the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The Round Robin scotch bar and lounge is a great place to go for a drink, and also very historic as the National Press Club met there for years and years. The Cafe du Parc where you will eat breakfast is wonderful. Of course, everything is expensive, but in DC everything is usually expensive anyway. If you are lucky enough to try the breakfast buffet at the Cafe du Parc, you are in for a real treat, both French and American style. While there, check out the mini-museum that chronicles the hotel's history. Great staff, as well.

The Willard truly lives up to its reputation and is worth every penny. It is conveniently located to all DC attractions and is right next to the White House. The staff of the Willard were the best I have ever experienced and were constantly going out of their way to make our stay more memorable. The house restaurant is a must as is the breakfast room service.

The place is lovely, and was an outstanding location -- we watched the fireworks on the fourth of July, then walked back to the hotel, not having to worry about driving out of the city or standing in line for the Metro.

We had a wonderful stay at the Willard! It's a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and a professional and kind staff. The amenities were fabulous (we even ordered the same exact robe the day we checked out) and the hotel and staff were five-start with the usual pretension. Metro, restaurants, bars, and shops are all near-by.

This elegant hotel, with so much history, was perfect in every way. We had a wonderful experience at the Willard with excellent attention and service.
