great location, but room was tiny and no A/C

The hotel was conveniently located on a quiet street off the Leidseplein (so very close to shopping and nightlife, etc. but very quiet) It was about one-third of a mile on foot to the museum quarter. Staff was pretty friendly and all spoke English. Room was certainly small, but clean and well-appointed. I did not try the breakfast, but the price was quite reasonable if you paid in advance. Although I would have preferred a location a bit closer to Dam Square, I enjoyed this hotel.

Rooms are a little spartan but the staff is helpful, the location is great, the price was reasonable, and the wifi is free. Would stay here again.

The room was tiny you could not swing a cat in it. The room was very dark and dull and the double bed was tiny , my partner is 6ft 3 and his legs were hanging out over the bed. It was nothing like the pictures that were on the website. It was clean tho and pretty central but hard to find from the square. I was charged € 5 for a bottle of water in the hotel pretty crazy. Over all it was pretty clean.

This was my first time staying in a Hotel in Amsterdam, and I was mindful of some of the less select areas. However this Hotel was well situated from the main town. It was a stones throw from the Casino. The rooms where clean and tidy and bathroom was of a good standard too. I every pleasent stay and I will definately be back to stay there again in the summer.

This hotel is very clean and the staff were very polite, the surrounding area is very quiet but everywhere in amsterdam is within walking distance, it was also very easy to find. We had an underground room, which i would urge people not to get, it was reminicent of a dungeon...... but was still very warm and spotlessly clean, would return for a 1 or 2 night stay, probably not any longer. price was very good though

Close enough to be central, far enough to be quiet. Small, clean comfortable room.

The best hotel for the price that we stayed at during our 2 weeks in the Netherlands, Germany & France. The location is on a side street, so nice and quiet, but you can easily walk to museums or the Vondelpark, and major public transportation routes or canal tours are 2-3 blocks away. The staff were friendly & helpful. The room was small but very comfortable with a great bed and free Wi-Fi. It was too bad breakfast wasn't included, but for the price was nice enough. Anyway, you should stay here!

Excellent hotel for the money. Extremely good service at the front desk, very friendly (not expected in Europe). Very clean, very good location. Small rooms but I did not expect different.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and, given the price I paid, it represents great value for money. The hotel is centrally located; a few minutes from Leidseplein Square and the tram stops and adjacent to the Vodelpark, on a quiet side street. The hotel itself is clean and modern on the inside: our room had a nice view overlooking the street outside; and the staff were friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet was also very good and, again, represented excellent value for money. I have stayed in Amsterdam about a dozen times for long weekends, always at 3 or 4 star hotels, and this is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in; would definitely use again.

The hotel is ideally located, near the center where is concentrated the nightlife. The room was good, but very small. The bathroom was confortable. Tonino c'è!

I hate it when they sell rooms that are obviously not in a good condition. If they really want to sell them, they should put a notice and put a discount on it. But if you pay full price, you should get a standard room, no matter when you check in. As you can understand, our room was in the basement. It was smelly and cold. We could not get a new room because the hotel was full.

Very well situated in good neighbourhood. A few minutes walk to Leidse plein but quiet at night. Great value for Money. Clean room. If I wanted to be picky, the only negative was only 1 x coffee cup, and tea and coffee not refilled.

We were very pleased with the quiet location and it was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. The staff were friendly particularly Zyah the bar tender he was very informative and always cheerful and nothing was too much trouble for him. We would be happy to stay at the hotel in the future.

I found the hotel very comfortable and affordable. The hotel is in great condition and the staff are very friendly and speak perfect English. The ONLY complaint I have is with the beds. They use that space foam or memory foam mattress and they are very soft. I prefer a firmer mattress so it was quite hard to sleep. I did not ask if there were other mattress options so this may have been something I overlooked and the hotel may have able to make a room swap so I don't want to fault the hotel for this. The location is awesome. Just a 5 minute walk to the nearest Tram stops. There is also a nice large park nearby not to mention the museums. Overall this is wise choice for anyone looking for a room to stay in Amsterdam that will not break your wallet.

Western hotel is very nice and centrally located. It was nice rooms and good breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a very nice stay there.

Rooms not renovated since 90's, boring atomsphere, not helpful or kind staff. Location and surroundings are good.

Compact Rooms

There was a teeny wait upon checking in, but there was a tourist group waiting to check out. The receptionist was wonderful. The room was HUGE. We were in the basement, but there was a wall of windows to the front street. It was very quiet and very clean. It is within a few blocks of the main square in Amsterdam, just at the edge of the canal loop. We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood at night when returning to the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. Lots of different things to choose from and even fresh fruit and hot items.

The size of the single room was incredibly small. Not a good value for the money. Staff and convenience of hotel are excellent.

Older hotel in charming neighborhood with adequate rooms, but threadbare towels. Staff efficient, courteous, and helpful. On site restaurant was very nice.

I stayed here with my best friend for 6 days. When we got the first room, we were very dismayed... it was small and had a couple of windows facing to the back but all you could see is a slanted roof. Luckily, the super nice lady at the reception (Maura) was willing to help when we said we didn't want to spend a week in that room. She let us check two other front facing rooms and we chose one of them. Other members of the staff were very kind as well and helped us order in when we both got sick and had to stay in. I can't say enough about the amazing location- close to the park, to museums to main streets of restaurants and shopping. I would recommend this hotel to someone who cannot afford 4 or 5 stars hotels, because for a 3 star hotel it was ok, in an unbeatable location.

The Best Western Hotel in Leidse Square suited my needs for a short stay in Amsterdam perfectly. It is located near museum square and near both tourist and 'local' amenities and services. I appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the front desk staff. I would return to this hotel! ken - Vancouver

The Hotel is in a good neighborhood of Amsterdam and is walking distance to great museaums, culturally diverse areas, fashion distric and great food. The rooms are solid 3 stars. TV old fashion. Front Desk nice, but not super hospitality either. No great ammenities, it is just that a crashing, budget hotel and if you are not in the basement you get to sleep.

This hotel is in a great location as it is only a 5 minute walk to the center of the shops and is a peacefull location.We were on the 4th floor which had great view and the bed was super comfortable as it was a memory form matras we stayed here for 3 nights but wished we booked to stay longer and can not waite to go back and stay here again.we loved amsterdam and the hotel and location.

Staffs are efficient and very helpful. Short distance to attractions and restaurants. Room is small but clean and comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

Very enjoyable stay in the hotel, close enough to all the museums and the bars and cafes but set back in a quite leafy back road. Breakfast was hot, coffee was good and rooms cleaned very well. would def go back again.

Best Western Hotel, Leidse Square,Amsterdam was very centrally located near the vibrant Leidse Square & tram stop.Standard of hotel was good.Staff were very helpful & friendly.Breakfast pre booked the night before costing €7.50 was excellent value,with a great variety of food.The handiest way to get to the hotel from the airport is the 197 bus.You are only 5 mins walk to the hotel when you get off the bus.We hope to return to Amsterdam,we had a lovely time & would have no hesitation in staying in this hotel again.Well done to all involved in making our trip so enjoyable.

Hotel is in nice quiet street between lovely Vongelpark and lively LeidsePlein. Very nice room breakfast a bit below par but helpful reception staff. Functional rather than welcoming but a great base for museums and city centre. Electronic room key malfunctioned twice in 3 days. I came for a large conference and found all Amsterdam accomodation expensive, it was pricey but little choice left when booked late. 197 bus from airport drops you approx 100metres from hotel. Would stay again but book early!

Im in my 20s and came here on my own, as a stop over before my flight back to the uk after a great trip to eindhoven. as a stranger in a city this hotel was impossible to find. i got off the bus at the leidseplein and walked around with a suitcase for over half an hour completely lost. i almost got ran over on more than one occasion by the mad roads. and no one i asked in the area even knew where the street this hotel is on was. i eventually found out where to go when i went to the irish bar in the leidseplein and got told by the bar staff. but in my opinion why call it a leidse square hotel when its not even near there? its down a lane behind the marriot hotel. as i made my way to the hotel i was stalked by an unsavoury character trying to get me to go to a coffee shop with him. a guy who stood outside my hotel and wouldnt take no for an answer. when i told the reception staff i was concerned that this guy was following me they told me that i needed to 'man up'. and grow some guts. after a long journey from the south of holland all i wanted was my dinner and bed. but they dont do meals. certainly not at 8pm anyway. the room was tiny. like a box. the coffee was in the top of the cupboard, no tea, and no milk. so i went out to the leidseplein hoping to avoid my stalker and get something to eat, only to find that he had followed me from the hotel again when he turned up behind me at the irish bar. luckily they helped me to shake him off, but the fear of walking back down a quiet lane in the dark with a guy obviously waiting around for me resulted in me having to get a bike taxi home. the doors in the rooms are tricky, they make you think they cant be locked, but they lock from the outside but are fire safety so you can open them without turning a lock inside. please remember this or youll be trying to lock the door all night as the reception staff i called to ask about it never told me this and were unhelpful. in general its very close to the local bars etc. but dont

excellent breakfast many guests smoke right in the doorway- the secondhand smoke gets pulled into the hotel- reception area stinks, and tobacco can be smelled right up to the upstairs rooms.

Best Western hotel is in a great location with easy access to transportation links, bus 197 gets you from the airport to within a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The hot breakfast, was cold with the mushrooms not even cooked, I suggest the Irish Pub and their full Irish breakfast, much better value.

Amsterdam is huge, busy and varied. The Best Western is a great option IF you want a quiet, peaceful place to rest, not if you want a "party house". Two blocks from the frantic Leidse Square and it's tram stop, many restaurants, bars and even The Buldog coffee shop but a world away in atmosphere, the Best Western has very good staff who are available 24hrs. Set on a park-like street just behind the Mariott, our room looked out on gardens and trees and was very clean and comfortable. The wifi worked great (the only place in our 8 rooms in Europe that did) and the bed was heaven. The room was not huge but we had no trouble with navigation around the furniture and our 2 large bags. The only fault we can remember was that the carpet was well worn but very clean. I will note that when we arrived the entire lobby and ground floor hallways were being re-carpeted so by the time of this review the rooms may have new as well. Great value for what we paid. Btw, they are very serious about the no-smoking policy.

Comfortable clean and friendlyhelpful staff. Skip the breakfast.

Excellent location. Easy access from Centraaal Station by tram in 10 minutes. Close to all tourist sights but away from loud night-life. Close to Vondelpark. Everything is walkable from this location. Hotel staff were very helpful, happy and polite. Fresh towels and toiletries left at door when we left 'do not disturb' sign out. Breakfast was excellent value for money. 10/10
