Hotel Carlton - بيلباو

The hotel was super. It is located in the center of town and is only a 10 minute walk to the Guggenheim Museum. It is also surrounded by great restaurants and superb shopping. The hotel management is very welcoming. The lobby area is equally pleasant. Our room was very large and well-equiped. It is clear that our room had been recently upgraded as well as the public areas in the hotel. The Carlton Hotel was the best of hotel we stayed in during our trip to Spain.

Well situated,within walking distance of all sites,plus opposite Metro,taxi rank and buses.Hotel efficient and functional,very quick check in and out.

Great hotel to unwind and take in Guggenheim at end of 3-week trip to Spain. Stayed two nights, 10 to 15 minute walk to Casco Viejo or to Guggenheim, many cafes/bars/restaurants within walking distance, very convenient to airport bus stop (exit hotel, turn left, and cross street). Very friendly/accommodating staff, comfortable/spacious room (we were on 5th floor overlooking the Plaza Moyua--what a treat!)

We stayed for five days at the end of April and found it a convenient Hotel close to public transport. hotel staff were always helpful with any enquiries and made several phone calls on our behalf. Bedrooms and public areas were well maintained. The breakfast was very good but too expensive for our pockets, so went to nearby cafe. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bilbao.

The beautiful building and fantastic location of Hotel Carlton would seem to be preconditions for a fantastic stay, but unfortunately the management of the hotel seemed to take that for granted and it did not live up to expectations. Service was appalling - rude, non-communicative and unhelpful staff. When we arrived, five people were behind the reception but not one of them made a move to help us, and eventually when they had stopped passing paperwork to each other and chatting amongst themselves, they deigned to help us check in with an extremely gruff manner. Not Five Star service at all, no pride in the hotel experience they are offering. Too many corners were cut - our room was beautiful and great view of the street, but undermined by shodding cleaning including a loo that smelt like a urinal. The advertised gym was a small room packed with outdated equipment and the 'Turkish bath' is hilariously non-existent - a bare room with a radiator. The location and decaying grandeur of the hotel do give it character, and Basque hospitality overall isn't exactly renowned so I don't want to single out the Carlton - but if you can find somewhere else in beautiful Bilbao I'd recommend giving this a miss!

I stayed only one night. The location of the hotel is very convenient, at walking distance on the Guggenheim and surroundings, and just besides the entrance to the Metro and major bus lines. You can also walk to quite a few restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, the internet Wifi wasn't working, not only in the room, but in the enitre hotel. The staff wasn't very helpful and only said it was a "security scan" from a nearby company HQ, and that it was common that internet went out on their hotel. If you must have internet connectivity, either buy a prepaid data plan with a usb dongle, or go to any of the other surrounding hotels.

I personally did not enjoy my stay. I had a floor on the first floor, and it was extremeely loud. They were playing loud music nonstop from the time I checked in the early morning all the way up to 2am. I was upset because I had to be at the airport by 5:30am. In addition, I couldn't figure out how to use the shower and how to use the television. I guess I could have called to figure that out, but I just didn't feel like it. Some of the staff speak Spanish and English. Others do not understand Spanish. One person couldn't just that he didn't speak English. He just passed me off to somebody else who also couldn't speak English.

When we arrived at the Hotel Carlton, I was amazed at how great it was. We knew it was rated 5 stars, but I figured that at the price we paid, it must be very run done. I was totally wrong. The hotel was beautiful, luxurious, historic, and the staff was very nice and helpful. The room was large, the bathroom beautiful and well appointed. The only small thing I would complain about is that the beds were on the hard side, which is typical for all Spanish hotels except the most Americanized ones. For our purposes it was very well located. We could walk to the river and to the old part of the city very easily, as well as all the major shopping areas. In our guide book, it was at the very center of the Bilbao map. The other big benefit to us was that it was right on the Plaza Moyua, where the inexpensive bus to the airport stops. The airport trip only took about 10 minutes from there. I highly recommend it.

Good quality, clean hotel, centrally located.

Overall I found this hotel to be pretty good. The location was ideal for the business I was doing and the hotel was pretty nice. The only issues were that the "king sized bed" was just two single beds pushed together and I could hear quite a bit of noise from other rooms.

Muy comodo el hotel, tanto por su estado como por su situación.

Makee hotelli. Vanhaan kaupunkiin 7 minuutin kävelymatka, mutta julkisilla päääsee kahdessa minuutissa puoli-ilmaiseksi. Testattiin myös hotellin illallisravintola, joka puitteiltaan ei ole kovin kummoinen, vaikka hieno onkin, mutta ruoka oli hyvää ja halpaa (gourmetmenu 36 euroa). Guggenhaim erittäin lähellä.

El hotel es una pasada, habitación muy grande y un pedazo de cama, está muy centrico hemos ido a todos los sitios andando.

l'hôtel est trés bien situé , au coeur de la vieille ville, belle architecture. Le service est correcte et le personnel aimable, par contre les chambres sont trés mal insonorisées, on peut profiter de tous les bruits des salles de bains voisines! La décoration mériterait un grand coup de remise à neuf , de la réception aux chambres. A noter que le jour de l'an tout , absolument tout est fermé dans Bilbao ...aprés avoir erré dans les rues nous nous sommes retrouvés à l'hôtel ...qui ce soir là n'a pas de room service!! Diète assurée jusqu'au lendemain où nous avons pu prendre un café sandwich dans un café d'aire d'autoroute ! Romantique à souhait !

Lækkert hotel. Trods beliggenhed ud til trafikeret rundkørsel er det meget roligt. Rigtig lækkert og velholdt. God betjening. Store værelser, gode senge mv. Klart et af de bedste hoteller.

Buenas instalaciones, buen servicio, muy buena la ubicación. El tamaño de las habitaciones y la decoración es perfecta. Un solo problema se oye mucho el ruido de los baños de las habitaciones: duchas, cisternas, grifos, etc.

Mitt i hjärtat av Bilbao med närhet till allt man vill uppleva som turist. Vi fick ett rymligt rum på 5:e vån, totalt tyst trots trafiken i centrum. Bra service på alla sätt vänlig personal och överlag mycket positivt

Fantastisk flotte og store rom - både bad og soverom! Meget bra service og sentral beliggenhet i Bilbao. Kort avstand til både Guggenheim museet og gamlebyen. Anbefales!!

Calton er et super skønt hotel der lever op til sine 5 stjerner, det er ikke sidste gang vi besøger dette hotel.

Hotel Carlton Bilbao ligger fint placert i midten af Bilbao Centrum, faciliteter er fine, ulemper ved at komme en lørdag er, at der ikke er åben i Baren, hvilket man nok burde forvente af et 5 stjernet Hotel.

La colazione ( 20 euro + 9.30 di servizio in camera... ) era troppo cara, come troppo cari i prodotti del minibar ( 5 euro per una bottiglietta di acqua minerale... ) e il parcheggio. Inoltre Internet wifi era disponibile solo vicino al centro businness
