The Strand Palace - لندن

Although our first impressions were excellent - early check-in, good room, pleasant and clean -we were very unhappy later when a good night's sleep was impossible. The state of the single- glazed window frame let draughts into the room and did nothing to alleviate the noise of traffic. The frame was very loose with large gaps. Added to that, work started on the building across the road at around midnight to assemble a covered walkway on the pavement. This was to protect pedestrians from the next part of the work, to clean the exterior of the building, which started around 6 am. Whilst the hotel had no control about the work, the state of the windows IS their responsibility. Our sleep would have been far less disturbed if double or even triple glazing had been fitted.

I stayed in this hotel for weekend away with my family and all I can say is it is top class. I plan to return before christmas.

The Strand Palace was, clean, busy and rarther big, but, clean friendly and idealy situated for Theatres, I was delighted bacause of the cheaper rate I paid. The Savoy is situated accross the Street, ideal for a pre Theatre cocktail !

Plus points..... Wonderful building and decor. Great location. Excellent staff and service throughout. High Quality and plentiful food. Brasserie exemplary. Minus points..... Room too small, too hot, not enough ventilation. Breakfast Room too hot. I think paid too much for room !!

I did enjoy my stay and it was incredibly spotlessly clean and to some degree comfortable, but it was tainted by the lack of suitable sound proofing and Air conditioning. I was kept awake one night by a snorer in a neighbouring room and a late night TV watcher on another night. A Fan was provided but it didnt make a difference. I had inner courtyard facing room which didnt really have any kind of view and the window boards would only let a small amount of light in. Probably would not choose again unless they had different rooms, but to be fair the staff were pleasant and as I said before the rooms were spotlessly clean .

Great location in busy and safe area. Hotel staff impeccable for help and directions etc. As usual however, things such as internet access and movie rental are unnecessarily expensive. The room was also rather small, and most disturbingly noisy from people entering and leaving surrounding rooms

This hotel if an efficient functional hotel that does what it says on the tin. Great position, fast, polite and efficient staff. Never going to be the best or biggest rooms in the world but they are comfortable, value for money, the basics are all there and the hotel does a good breakfast.

The Strand Palace makes a great "home base" for visitors to London because of its central location. Whether it's Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, or the shopping district, the hotel is perfect for being in the thick of things. I have stayed at this hotel 5 times now, and will stay again. I have only one minor concern that causes me to give this visit a rating of 4 instead of 5: On this trip, the room I was in was right next to the maid's closet, and beginning at about 8:15, the door was frequently closed loudly as the maids gathered their supplies for the day's cleaning. I do not tend to sleep late, so this wasn't an issue for me, but it might be for someone else who gets in late from a show and wants to sleep a little later. I brought it to the manager's attention,and to his credit, the doors were closed a little more softly after that, but it still might disturb a light sleeper. (And, of course, an easy option would be just to request a room change, if there is space).

This hotel is like a London tube station in itself - the hustle and bustle in the lobby areas and bars makes you feel part of London from the moment you check-in, and you realise after a few minutes walk in any direction of the hotel that you're very connected to all the best parts of London!! The art galleries - Courtauld and National Gallery are minutes away; RAA is 20 mins walk, passing Trafalgar Square and Picadilly on the way. I also walked to Westminster for the sights of Downing Street, Big Ben, MoD, Houses of Parliament, the Guards, etc. Villiers Street (off the Strand) and Covent Garden (behind the hotel) keep you entertained for restaurants and bars. The Beaufort Bar (in the Savoy Hotel, just opposite) is perfect for a champagne cocktail, after a day at the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden! This hotel is in a perfect location, especially for women traveling on their own, and has very helpful hotel staff. I had a nice clean single room (with great temperature control too, free bottled water, kettle/coffee and a nice large separate bathroom). If I was to say anything for improvement, it would be to make the scambled eggs more tasty at breakfast, use better coffee beans and don't charge for wifi services!

From the welcoming smile of the Receptionist to the polite attitude of the Staff who served at meal times it was a pleasure to stay at the Strand Palace. Being so close to the variety of theatres I find it to be an ideal base and the brisk walk to the Embankment and the other sites in Westminster make it a "healthy"space after a great breakfast.

Comfortable, clean room. Buffet breakfast excellent. Hotel staff courteous and helpful. Location fantasctic for all of the buzz and sights of London. My third time staying at this hotel and I look forward to returning in the future.

I am surprised this is a 3 star hotel. The hotel is overpriced and needs a major facelift. Hotel amenities and breakfast is poor. Good location but you can find a much nicer hotel for the money you spend there.

Our room had been recently refurbished - well pleased with room, staff, food ,service etc. Have stayed there before and will do so again.

The Strand Palace hotel is just across the road from the Savoy, a true five star hotel. So when you arrive in London, ask your taxi driver to take you to the Savoy. The driver will think he has a millionaire in the back of his cab. When he drops you off, just make the easy walk over the road to the Strand Palace. This is a clean, pleasant and comfortable hotel. The rooms are small and a bit spartan, but the rates are very good. You are right at the edge of Covent Garden, so it's central to everything. In London, you could pay a lot more and get a lot less.

We found this hotel met all our needs for a lovely weekend stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The safety aspect was important to us, being two females, and we found this in both the hotel and the surrounding area. We would recommend everything about the hotel and area.

Unfortunately work began (Putting in new windows) on room next door at 8.30 two mornings of our stay. WE were offered another room but as we only had one more night and they told us it would end that day, we did not bother changing... But I feel they should not have placed us in that particular room in first place...

Always enjoy my stay at the Strand Palace, staff very welcoming and hotel so very near to the night life in the West end. You can walk almost to any where uptown safely.

While the location is exquisite, a number of things were disappointing. I stayed in room 749. First, the room was very small. Second, the toilet was so close to the wall in the bathroom, that one could hardly sit on it comfortably (I am a lean male, never had this problem). Three, when I asked for late cleaning of the room (I had to work through the morning and early afternoon, the staff kept telling me how busy they were, how many other rooms to clean they have, instead of simply taking the order and doing it (eventually, the room was cleaned). Four, I feel they take every opportunity to get money from you. For example, the website, and instructions in the room state, that if you don't have a UK plug, you can get one in the reception, or, if they don't have it, then you can buy. Of course when you try to get it in the reception they don't have it, so you have to buy it in the vending machines. Another: late check out. They wanted me to pay for 30 minute later check out - only when I raised hell, they agreed to do it without payment. Also, at the beginning of the stay, they ask you what paper you want. It is only when you check out that you learn, that you get separately charged for that. Overall, I found these little things incredibly irritating, and painting a generally negative picture of the mentality of the management of the hotel. I won't stay there again, great location notwithstanding.

I travel to London quite often and it always feels like I'm taking a gamble about hotels. Glad to say this time it turned out well. I'll use the Strand again for sure. Close to the London office and plenty of restaurants in the vicinity.

Awesome central location Breakfast was fine Price was about right No Air-Con though and very hot on the 8th floor. Only found the fan the following morning in the bottom of the wardrobe!

staff are very friendly and helpfull , but the are rooms are too small ( as first time on London !) comparing with the Rates . it is located in the heart of London where you can access to any place from this Location . generally ; it is good enough to stay there if you are in Business Trip for a couple of Days .

Excellent hotel in central position. 10 minutes walk to most theatres, Trafalgar Square and Regent Street shops. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent value.

Stayed here for a long weekend. The hotel have a perfect location close ro Trafalgar Square. Newly renovated and fresh. Polite staff and a special recognition to the front desk clerk named Egle. Very friendly welcome and nice service! The only negative this was tht the room was boiling hot and no AC. We managed with the window open and a fan. I will definitely return to this hotel!

Nice hotel, great central location, nice rooms. But on the days we were there, it was almost unbearably hot on the rooms, there was a fan in the room, but it did'nt help very much. Get a room with good ventilation, if its hot.

Had a very good experience with the hotel. Covent Garden was just behind it, so you can have breakfast at Laduree coffee shop and take a look at their flea market. The only thing I wasn't comfortable about was I could hear two ladies talking in the room next to mine. So if you're taking your spouse, make sure you don't make noises! But I would definitely go back again as it was clean, affordable and in an excellent location.

I felt that The Strand was a nice hotel especially for European standards. There was some street noise due to the fact that it's located directly off of one of the main streets in London. Being on a main street however, made it easy to get to different sights in London. It was about a 15 minute walk to get to the Eye as well as Westminster Abby and Big Ben. The subway is easy to use however, so staying further away wouldn't have been bad either. The subway in London costs about 7Pounds for a 2 way trip.

Just back from stay at the strand palace,great location you can walk everywhere.Staff all very polite and nothing too much trouble.Very nice doorman from Australia went out of his way to get us a cab to the station, can not wait to go back.

I hate hotels that push Double Beds against the wall so that you have to climb over in the middle of the night to use the bathroom etc. Luckily i was only there for 2 nights. I will be wary when i book again on Hotels.com as the picture for the room advertised on the the website differed to one i was given. Anyway i booked here for the location and it was excellent, round the corner from Covent garden, a few minutes walk to Charring cross tube and the bus stop virtually outside the front door. I could travel around all day long on my travel card. Oh yea the hotel was Okay

I stay here quite a bit and would usually recommend the hotel freely. But this last trip i stayed in room 927 which was the hottest room i have ever been in. It was too late - gone midnight, for me to do much about it. In the moring when asked how my stay was i reported it but did not even get an apology....

I recently ventured to London for my first time on business and came across The Strand Palace on hotels.com. The hotel was right in the middle of the hussle and bussle of downtown London, just a short walk from Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, Waterloo Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, etc. Though the room was a little smaller than expected, it was still pleasant and quite manageable for my week-long stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and the 'continental' breakfast was amazing -- lots of variety to choose from. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place that is close to all the fun and wonders London has to offer.

We stay here 3 times per year because the location Is perfect for theatre, food and shopping! The Rooms are small but adequate, however the lack Of air conditioning makes them very hot in the summer

I used to live in London so I wanted to stay in a hotel with central location. Strand Palace is walking distance to Covent Garden, tube stops, West End, great location. I stayed in a single room which was clean with modern bathroom. There was no minibar and no AC which would have been nice since it felt very stuffy even though the weather was not really hot. When I openened the window it got very noisy with the city noise and at 5 am the contruction started next door. I could also hear a cellphone vibrating in the next room so it was very noisy with thin walls. However, I had a good stay since I did not spend much time in the room anyway.

Great Locatio for seeing a show. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Our room was a little on the small size but ok for the price. There wasnt really enough tables in the restaurant at breakfast time but apart from that it was all great!

This hotel makes an ideal base for a visit to London and overall was satisfactory. The main problem was the size of the room. Our Superior Club Double was so small that we had to climb over each other to get into bed and there was no drawer space at all, just shelves in the smal wardrobe, so if you were staying for more than a day or two would be a problem.

Strand Palace was ideally situated near Tube station and Somerset house where i was attending a concert . Hotel foyer and bar, restaurants very nice, check in staff very quick. The only 2 faults with our twin room was it was very hot , no air conditioning could only open windows slightly health and safety, Bath taps switched hot was cold cold was hot . Overall a good experience.

Very convenient location. Rooms are basic, nothing fancy. You have everything you need. But I could hear the neighbors as they spoke. Good value for money. Will definitely come back, but not for a romantic holiday.
