Swissôtel Amsterdam - أمستردام

We were very pleased with how we were treated. The first night we got into bed and found the mattress was wet. We called management and they immediately assisted us in moving to a suite. It was beautiful, clean, and roomy. They allowed us to stay there for the entire 6 nights we were there. Great staff. Professional and very responsive to our needs. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

From a regular world traveller, Amsterdam hotels are notorious for being exorbitantly expensive, horribly uncomfortable, ditched out bedding, stuffy rooms, and filthy carpets akin to an ashtray that has not been emptied in weeks. I splurged this time for the Swissotel and they did not disappoint. I begged for a best in class room prior to my stay on the hotel's website and they delivered. The bed, linens, and comforter were gorgeous. Built in cabinetry like a cruise ship stateroom. Squeaky clean bathroom with tub. Aircon and heating controls are critical as most AMS hotels don't have A/C. Clothesline over the tub broken, burnt out bulb in ceiling, and metal grid on ceiling displaced, but these are trivial. Laptop sized safety box in the room, as well as an espresso machine. On an extended stay, housekeeping didn't replenish coffee capsules and hand towels twice, and the sink basin wasn't cleared of toothpaste residue, but again no big concern. Try to avoid a room with the adjoining door as you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. The left window had heavy condensation and wouldn't open, but the right window let in fresh air and the view of the Damrak and main square was magnificent. I took great pains in looking at all online reviews, and trust me this is the best hotel for the money and location. The breakfast buffet was excellent, but many buffet dishes are empty with the crush of people so it's best to go right when it opens. The business center has 3 free computers and surprisingly there is a printer too to do boarding passes. I highly, highly recommend this hotel. Caution to party animals as there is a strict no smoking policy/ no ganja policy, posted notices state they will kick you out with no refund for pot use or possession on the premises. As a result the rooms are very fresh and clean. By all means, take advantage of the free delivery of a specialty latex support pillow from the pillow menu!

The staff at the Swissotel on Damrak was incredibly helpful. Whether it was storing our luggage, looking up bus and train schedules, or helping us map out a tram route, they helped everytime with a smile on their faces. We also received complimentary fresh fruit our first night, and then bottled water and Mentos every other night of our stay. Great price to be in the center of the action. Only drawback - there was a "pillow" card that we didn't find until late in the trip where you could choose your own pillow. Doing this is a MUST, as the standard ones are near impossible to get comfortable.

Overpriced for hotel that is 3 star at best

I was very happy with this hotel. The room was very nice, comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff professional. The gym is all right and well kept in order. The staff helped me get tickets for a concert. Location is in walking distance to the train station but not too close. - All good.

The Swissotel Amsterdam is located right in the heart of Amsterdam and provided an excellent base for exploring the city and the surrounding areas. Just a couple of minutes walk from Central Station, beside Dam Square, the Royal Palace, many other sights, restaurants and bars. Warm friendly greeting on arrival and top class unobtrusive service for the duration. It was our 30th wedding anniversary during our stay and the management left us a complimentary bottle of bubbly, some snacks and a card to help us celebrate. It is the attention to detail that makes this hotel stand out from the rest. I would highly recommend it and would certainly use it again.

Comfortable room, wonderful staff, great location. No free wifi in rooms was a bit of an annoyance but free internet in business office.

Right in the heart of everything with all the different trams just outside the front door. Well maintained properity and polite and efficient staff.

Good quality hotel in a good location right by a tram stop and across the road from the old town area. Very good Brown Bars down the alley just to the right of the hotel and lots of shopping nearby. The hotel is aged and the rooms are a good size and very clean. The beds are very comfortable but the king bed is actually two singles pushed together. Overall a good hotel.

Our room and bathroom were large even by US standards. Very clean. Great beds. The staff were the most pleasant I have ever encountered outside of a resort. They were very professional and helpful. Easy walk from the train station. Amsterdam is so compact it is hard to be in a bad location, but we were very happy with this location.

Check in was perfect. Freindly and funny staff. Room was spacious and clean with everything we needed. For such a central location, the rooms were fairly quiet. Could not have asked for more with a location like this.

The location is great and the rooms are comfortable. The staff wasn't very helpful and not flexible about times at all. The breakfast is expensive so make sure you ask the price before hand.

this hotel was everything i wished for , kind and curtious staff , spacious comfy rooms , a great location on dam square ideal for shopping and site seeing , 5 mins walk to the red light area with its coffee shops bars and other attractions, i will be going back again soon

This is a good hotel in a good location, unless you drove. We rented a car and drove to Amsterdam. This hotel has no parking at all and has no road access meaning you can't pull up in front even to unload your bags. If you arrive by taxi, train or bus, this is in a great location to walk to everything. We had to park our rental car in the public lot just one block away. The rate of 50 Euros per night for parking was rediculous. 200 Euros later on parking alone, I would not drive here again. The rooms are basic but provided everything we needed. There is no free WiFi at the hotel however the McDonalds just a few doors down has free open WiFi.

Overall the hotel was great. The location was extremely convenient and the staff friendly. The one downside I would say is that they charged 12.50 Euros per day for internet access - fairly tacky considering the hotel wasn't that cheap. Also the business center computers were fairly slow and locked up quite often. I had business to tend to while I was in town and had no choice but to pay for the wireless in the room. Other than that, no complaints. The rooms and bathroom were a bit dated but the beds were comfortable and so was our room. The staff left us alone and overall the experience was a good one.

I always thought the Swissotel was a top end chain but this hotel is more or less a good 3 star. Service was efficient on the front desk and early check in given. Hotel room was small, but normal for European cities. Good location, walking distance from main train station. My main gripe was with the internet which wroked sporadically during the 2 days I was there, but basically was useless for my business needs, which made the stay somewhat frustrating. To their credit Mgmt dropped the internet charge. Didn't eat or drink in the hotel.............

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during our stay in Amsterdam. The staff was enthusiastic and very kind. The room was very clean and neat. There was not a whole lot of space in the actual room but all of the things that come along with this hotel make up for that. You are directly in the center of all the important things to see. Walking distance to shopping, great restaurants, museums, etc. We would definitely stay at this hotel if we visit Amsterdam again!

My only other Swissotel experience was in Osaka, which was excellent in terms of relative luxury, size, etc. Maybe its just the normal difference between Asia and Europe (European hotel rooms in general being smaller, etc) but the Swissotel Amsterdam didn't quite live up to what I expected based on the Nankai (Osaka) property. That said, the room was well-lit, clean, in a good location; good restaurant. I would stay again.

I chose this hotel for the location and the very competitive price when comparing options. Compared to other Swissotels I would say this one was below average but in general Amsterdam hotels are older and not quite as clean and shiny as newer suburban or more recently built hotels. The service was very good and very friendly. This is one of the best hotels that is still very close to Amsterdam Central Station.

Friendly staff who were happy to help. Great location - right on Dam Square and only a short walk from Central Station. Would stay again and recommend.

It is all about location. Whether you are in Amsterdam for business or on holiday, this Hotel is located ideally - close to tourist attractions (museums, boat rides, flower market........to name just a few). Less than 10 minute walk to the central station which connects to trains, metro, trams & boats. There are plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood to chose from. Stores and super markets are in abundance in the area for the die-hard shoppers. The Hotel is run efficiently by friendly staff who make you feel welcome and are more than willing to help with your needs. The rooms are compact and clean with comfortable beds & pillows. Overall this Hotel is value for money - I'm sure I will go back there if I have an opportunity to go back to Amsterdam.

Clean, comfortable hotel with fantastic service. The staff are very friendly and quick to make reservations or offer advice. The location is best in town - 10 minute walk maximum to any sites you may be interested in, and we had no issues with noise level on the street or from other guests in the hotel. The bed was very large and comfortable, the bathroom is also very large (comparable to US standards) and very clean - which is extremely important to me. I will stay here every time I visit Amsterdam.

Walking distance from station and next to Damm Sq. - front desk was friendly - but lobby is small, elevator is small and while room was clean, bed comfortable, I got a room with a window overlooking the side alley - you could almost touch the building on the other side - and there was some noise in the alley at night ... Not as impressive as other Swissotel locations I have stayed at - so I was kind of disappoiinted - but ok if you don't plan to spend too much time in your room ...

great location. Access to internet and exercise room were excellent. Front desk employees were very pleasant and allowed for early check-in. Room was a little small but that was expected in AMS.

This hotel is located in Dam Square, impossible to get to by car if your driving. It was way too busy a location for us, like walking out into Time Square. At night it was load and roudy mostly with a younger crowd. My rooom was so load from the street activity that I had to sleep with air plugs which still couldn't block the yelling from the streets throughout the entire night. I loved Amsterdam but would recommend a more peaceful area to stay in, unless your 20 and plan on partying all night.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, the red light district, Dam square, lots of restaurants. Very thin walls, could hear everything from adjacent rooms. Need better sounds proofing. Small rooms for the price.

I just complain the hotel no include breakfast other is OK.

The hotel has a fine central location close to most everything in the center city. Reception is small and desk personnel do everything. They were always quick to offer assistance and were the best aspect of the hotel. This property is a bit plain for a Swissotel but the rooms were comfortable, well equipped and quiet which was surprising given the location. The restaurant and bar were nothing special but decent and fairly priced. All in all, I would return to this hotel if back in Amsterdam.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. Scores very highly for location - 5 min walk from Central Station, close to shops, bars etc. & far enough away from red light district. Approx 15 walk to some of the main sights (Van Gogh museum, Ann Frank House etc.). Hotel room was a good size which I hear is not always the case in Amsterdam but room we got was at side of hotel & while nice & quiet, got very little natural light. Staff at reception courteous & helpful.

A great place to stay while in Amsterdam. Last time there they gave me a mini-suite on the top floor with high ceilings overlooking Dam Square. Couldn't have asked for better, definitely recommend.

great location! room very big for european standards, nice size bathroom as well. english speaking staff, very friendly. Only small issue was we asked then to make a dinner reservation for us which they did, but when we got to the restuarant they had no reservation. Turned out OK, we were able to sit right away anyway. Would definately recommend this hotel.

I got a basic 'discounted' room. On the first night, it was a cramped room facing a tiny interior ventilation space and brick walls - very claustrophobic. However I asked about changing rooms, and after that first night, for the same rate, they moved me to a corner room that was much larger and had views of a small pedestrian street, which was much better. It pays to ask for details about the room you will get. Also, as I suppose is common in Europe, I asked for and was supposed to get a 'king bed' room, but both the rooms I had were simply two twin beds pushed together - obviously this is not the same as a single king bed because you can fall through the division between the beds!

Everything about the hotel is great in terms of comfort, service, proximity to city center, fitness center, etc... if you prefer a quieter area, I would recommend hotels further from the center near the Rijks Museum, or outer canal area, etc...

We thoroughly enjoyed Swissotel Amsterdam. The hotel was modern, with a fantastic (firm) bed), great bathroom, and great room amenities. The fitness room was very nice with high quality, new cardio equipment. If you want to be in the middle of it all, there is no better hotel. Yes, we had an interior room, so we had no exterior noise. If you're going to be in Amsterdam for only a few days like we were, the location is fantastic. If you are going to be there longer, there are quieter neighborhoods that you may also want to consider. All in all, a great experience.

Considering how busy the location is on Dam Square, the hotel rooms are surprisingly quiet - until you realise they are in fact soundproof! The affordable rooms are tiny and the neighbouring buildings are only 6 feet from your window but as somewhere to lay your hat in the centre of town it is ideal. Very useful free "business centre" if you have forgotten your laptop too.

room was very nice, clean and very large. after hearing about how small every room is in europe, we expected the worst and were very pleased. the staff was helpful and friendly. our room overlooked Dam Square. if you dont want noise of street and trolleys, dont face the square and stay higher up. we were not bothered by it but could see how others would be. bed was so comfortable. great water pressure and FREE internet in the business center which was just large enough and you can print things in color for FREE there! try finding that in other places. we loved this hotel, great place to eat right next store in the AM, great restaurants and bars right across the street and the best money exchange place right next store. the location cant be beat unless you are looking to stay on a canal/canal view, this was a great place in the middle of it all!

well located right at dam square. quiet even though the neighborhood is lively. Don't bother with the restaurant.

The Swissotel is perfectly located for a tourist visiting Amsterdam. We were able to walk to nearly all the major sites and attractions. It is on the Damrak, which can be a bit seedy, so potential visitors should bear that in mind. Our rooms were very clean, though mine (a double) was very small. Some friends were upgraded for free to a suite, which was quite large and well-appointed.
