The hotel was very well positioned for using the buses and sightseeing in Valetta. Service in the hotel was friendly and helpful. The pool was kept very clean. The gardens were beautiful. Good access to internet.

Friendly staff, quality hotel, good location for sightseeing in Valletta.

The hotel staff were exceptional, very pleasant and helpful, so the overall service was very good. The location of the hotel is superb, walking distance to the beautiful city of Valletta and next to the the bus station, making it very easy to get around the island. The hotel is in a beautiful building, but I felt that it needed a refurbishment. The furniture etc is looking a bit tired, especially in the room we stayed, Executive Suite 111.

Hotel was fine but the main thing that let it down for me was that the room was too hot. The air-conditioning can't be changed to anything but 25'C - who decided that everyone wants their room at that temperature. OK one other small complaint - there was nowhere to put my bag to open & close so it stayed on the floor for 5 nights.

I had always been told this was the best hotel in the world for the last 40 years and so I took my wife for our silver wedding aniversary celebration. We were not disapointed. Upon arrival on Thursday we were invited to a reception in the Palm Court where the free wine flowed and then in for a fabulous buffet. In our room was a bottle of champagne on ice and local sweets. The room was spotless and the balcony view of the harbour also looked out on a football training pitch - some players were good! It was a pleasant strool to the pool and bar where the loungers were so comfortable a decent afternoon snooze was had before the very large pot of tea was brought over. Prices were higher than outside the hotel but they are not 5* decadence. We found Valletta restraunt prices to be half the price of others in the tourist towns, and the small cafes and coffee shops for the locals were brilliant, its worth walking out and going local. If you want ultra modern 5* then this is not it. The Phoenica is old school 5*, a place of opulent luxury with superb service. We will certainly be back for a long weekend next year.

Common parts and externally it's a wow. Get to the rooms and they're shabby I'm afraid. We were aware of this before so only a slight disappointment - especially the severe damp patches in the bathroom. Pool area nice but busy - rarely anyone in pool itself. Jug of cheap sangria was very expensive. Service was good and friendly but not quite there from all staff. General Manager, great. Didn't try the food, had breakfast elsewhere and the occasions we wanted room service at 11pm, they were on very limited menu only. Very good value could be had at so many other places too. Really enjoyed our stay here and would consider returning for the location mainly.

Super hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Great location for just walking into Valletta. Echoes back to an old Colonial era, with the odd Art Deco touch here and there. Many rooms have been up-graded, mine was one of them - small room, but adequate as simply a base to venture out. Nice peaceful gardens to sit in with a small, over subscribed pool area, with not enough loungers to go round. Very comfortable large lobby bar. Very popular with both young and old. I'd stay again, it was very convenient indeed.

Unbeatable location, beautiful garden with amazing views, excellent breakfast with champagne included, confortable room, great value for money. This is definitely one of the best hotels in Malta if not the best. Highly recommended.

It was a lovely colonial building which has aged yet retained its original charm. Its a huge step back in time in a nice way. This is not to say that the hotel looks tired. Far from it, it is very well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, I cannot fault any of them. If I was to point a negative, its the noise caused by the cleaners early in the morning. I don't think that they realised how sound travels in those old stone buildings. Woke us up every morning which spoilt the whole experience somewhat as we had visited the island for the weekend to re-charge our batteries.

Plus: - great location, by bus terminus, and just outside city gates - exceptionally friendly and helpful concierge / reception - pool area is nice with good views - spa prices aren't outrageous - rooms were cleaned regularly to high standard - great club bar Minus: - room a little poky by international standards, although was ample - afternoon tea: service was slow All in all I'd recommend it, but you'll probably feel you get acceptable value for money if you go on a deal or some sort of reduced rate.

The Hotel is right beside Valetta and far away from the awful Hotel developments in Silema, St Pauls. It is a marvellously luxurious 1930s Hotel reminiscent of Agatha Christie's Inspector Poirot. Gardens that lead to a lovely swimming pool under the ancient walls of Valetta and overlooking the harbour. Many rooms have balconies. Worth getting a room with a balcony and going for the breakfast.I prefer rooms facing the back of the hotel, overlooking the gardens. I have been twice and both times there were drinks and canapes on Wednesday night and a musicians most nights in the wonderful cocktail lounge. The minute you enter the hotel after a day exploring Malta, you feel you enter a peaceful oasis and it is very relaxing.

great grand old hotel just outside the city walls. great lobby/lounge/bar/restaurant. staff friendly and professional.

The expression Faded Grandeur springs to mind but overall the convenience of the position of the hotel outweighs any shortcomings. The beds are very comfortable (rooms are a little on the small side for a 5* hotel) and the standard of cleanliness etc is very good. The majority of staff are very friendly and efficient and the quality of the food is generally good. I think that the 5* rating is overgenerous and think that a 4* + might be more appropriate as little things like paper napkins rather than linen napkins are little touches that let the standard down. It was impossible to get an English speaking channel on the TV and wi-fi was only available in the Palm Court lounge area, which was frustrating. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would certainly stay there again provided I could have a suite (which we paid to upgrade to from the original room we were allocated).

The hotel has a great location for Valletta. I had a first floor room that I thought was very "tired" for a 5star hotel. That said I did get a good room rate, but would have been disappointed had I paid more. These more "traditional" hotels both in service and style are becoming rare and I think therefor somthing to be valued.(note to management....keep the much used, traditional fabulous cutlery used throughout the hotel)

rooms on 1st floor are very tired.Breakfast room needs some serious organizing,table was half set and i had to go looking for spoons,salt and pepper.had to go looking for 2nd cup of coffee on one morning out of 3.

All the charm of yesteryear - gracious public areas ,high ceilings , spacious accomodation , glorious architecture complimented by modern facilities , furnishings and top class service . Would get a five , but for the officiousness of the matre di arranging breakfast seating - tho the breakfast was first class!

I had always wanted to stay at the Phoenecia, and was expecting grand opulence and wasn't disappointed... but its important to put things into context before you decide to stay there as some things were not as I expected. Firstly, this is an old hotel - it opened in 1947 and as such does not have the modern room layout that one would find in other, more modern hotels. Our first room had no balcony (we changed for one that did) and was smaller both than I expected, and the other hotels in Malta. Having said that, once you get past that, its a fine place, with a nice old world charm that makes it a great place to stay. However... be warned - the average age of the residents was somewhere around 65-70 and the level of their activity seemed to be breakfasting and then heading for the pool to read and lounge in the sun. We found 2 other couples who were as young as us and none of the oldies talked to us at all, so not a friendly social place unless you are retired. Breakfast was excellent - one of the best I have ever had - and the service was top notch, although the bar bills can be high so be warned. I am glad I have stayed there, but not sure I would repeat the experience again

Nice hotel, just steps outside of the old walled city of Valetta. Down side: those steps are through the main bus depot which is in use 24 hours. Lots of busses and people milling around. We had an upgraded room with a view of the harbor. From my bed I could look out the window and see MDina in the distance. Bathroom was very nice, but really... are the British (or their former countries) ever going to learn that a small "half-wall" of glass on the shower will *not* keep the floor dry?

As 'old Malta hands' since the 1960's this was the first time we had stayed in The Phonecia although we had enjoyed afternoon tea on occasions in the past. The location at the entrance to Valetta cannot be faulted. We used the buses extensively and the terminus is directly outside the hotel. The Hotel retains an old world charm and the facilities are impressive. We particularly enjoyed the pool and the pianist in the Palm Court. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and the staff extremely friendly. Our only criticism was the breakfast tea, which is particularly important to we English. Pots of tea are produced en-mass at the beverage station where they sit until ordered. We may have been unlucky but over 5 days all our pots of tea arrived stewed. We were, however, able to make a decent cup of tea in our room.

발레타의 버스 출발지 옆에 위치해서 몰타 어느 지역으로 여행을 하기해도 편리한 위치에 있다는 점이 가장 큰 장점, 객실 청결이나, 시설 등도 모두 만족스럽고, 일부 어린 여직원들을 제외하면 서비스도 훌륭했다. 전체적으로 만족스러웠다.

Leider bin ich das erste Mal von einem 5Sterne Hotel enttäuscht gewesen. Das Zimmer war relativ klein und bedarf einer Auffrischung. Das Abendessen war höchstens auf einem 3Sterne Niveau. Bis zum Pool muss man ca. 400 m durch den Garten laufen (sehr kleiner Pool). Die Hotellobby ist sehr schön. Ein Aussenanstrich ist dringend notwendig. Von weitem sieht das Building wie eine Factory aus (dreckige Maurern).

Hotel de qualité idéalement placé à l'entrée de la vieille ville de La Valette et devant la gare des bus et des Taxis qui permettent d'aller partout dans l'ile et à bon prix.

Er veldig fornøyd, hyggelig betjening. Sengene litt harde som er det eneste jeg har å utsette på rommet.

Bra hotell och fint läge i centrum av Valetta.

Excellentes impressions. Un bémol, en ce qui concerne le restaurant de l'hôtel...attente trop longue !pour le reste, sans reproche.

眺めの良くない部屋（駐車場に面している）の割に、高めの価格設定のときに泊まったせいか若干の割高感がありました。でも海外の日本人向けでないホテルとしてはvery goodです。 ホテルの人のサービスにはばらつきがあるように感じました。良い人は本当に感じよかったので全体的にはとても良い印象でホテルを後にしました。チェックイン時には部屋にストックのなかったポテチが、宿泊3日目の清掃後に突然補充されており、私が食べたことにされてしまってましたが、最初から無かった旨を伝えたらすんなり取り下げられました。当たり前ですが。設備はまあそれなりです。プールが素敵でした。日本の良いホテルの品質とは比べられません。立地は申し分なしですよ。ホテル評価とは無関係ですが、ホテル名は「フェニキア」ではなく「フェニシア」が正しい読みなので直したほうがいいかと。。

送迎、ダイビング、フェリー、他国ツーアまで色々の手配をしてもらった。非常に丁寧で、満足しています。 ホテルの室内温水プールもお勧めします。

Bel hôtel majestueux, situé juste à l'entrée de la Valette ; chambre avec balcon avec vue; immeuble en U donc possibilité d'avoir tjs une vue : forcément.. on n' évite pas toujours les parkings, le terminal des bus et les poubelles.. mais en regardant au loin et un peu de bonne volonté.. on est jamais déçu ! Le salon et le restaurant avec terrasse sont spacieux et donnent à rêver ; on y retrouve le faste anglais et l'élégance du siècle dernier. Le personnel est souriant et soucieux de la qualité de notre séjour. Toujours prêt à nous renseigner et nous conseiller. Les jardins sont somptueux ,situés le long des remparts et nous permettent d'accéder à la piscine suspendue dans les murs le long des remparts. La proximité des bus est un atout majeur car le réseau est devenu très bien organisé .. et bien moins cher que les taxis... Sa situation est idéale pour accéder à la Cité des Chevaliers et profiter de cette ville riche et lumineuse.

Fantastisk hotel! Ypperlig beliggenhet rett utenfor Vallettas' bymurer. Nydelig utsikt fra bassenget, god service og god komfort. Skal man til Valletta burde man absolut bo på dette hotellet!

Dejligt hotel, lidt slidt, men meget fin service, pool område ok, med gratis håndklæder, beliggende tæt på rutebilsstationen, hvor alle busser køre ud fra

Très bel hôtel. Service de qualité, situation exceptionnelle. Piscine de rêve. Que du bonheur. A recommander fortement.

Goed hotel, badkamers kamer slecht afgewerkt, ontbijt redelijk goed, bezienswaardigheden Valletta op loop afstand. Tips: Restaurant Malafa op paleisplein in Valletta (bij de fonteintjes en muziek) zeer goed gegeten. Neem de watertaxi naar Sliema, niet de ferry.

Aufenthalt (Zi mit Frühstückbuffet) vom 30.5.-4.6.2011 - Toplage mit Gratisparking für Mietauto! -Hotelzimmer im 2. Stock gegen Haupteingang (Busbahnhof), nicht renoviert, jedoch gross und i.O. mit Steinboden und geräumigem Bad. - Der Flur wurde selten gesäubert, teilweise lag auch nach 2 Tagen der gleiche Dreck noch am Boden... Anders im renovierten 3. und 4. Stock. Zimmer neu mit Teppichböden, jedoch deutlich kleiner! - Im Frühstückssaal wurde man plaziert: der Typ lief aber ständig mit Handy am Ohr rum, während er die Leute zum Tisch begleitete! Oft lärmig, klapperndes Geschirr der Bediensteten, fehlende Lebensmittel auf dem Buffet, auf der Terrasse teilweise kein weisses Gedeck, Service eher lausig, nie und nimmer eines 5***** Hotels würdig. Poolbereich ab 08.00h geöffnet, Liegen standen kreuz und quer, Gläser auf den Tischen, Duschen und Toiletten noch nicht gereinigt, Wasserqualität ebenfalls grenzwertig. - Definitiv no place to return!

Bonne situation par rapport aux sites touristiques . Ensemble satisfaisant , mais les chambres ne correspondent pas à un 5* normes françaises . Un peu trop cher pour ce qui est proposé : cette remarque est également valable pour le petit déjeuner

Nice hotel in general and very friendly staff at reception. Insulation between rooms is nonexsistent. Rooms are of pretty basic standard for a 5 star hotel.

部屋は清潔で交通の便もよく、満足です。 昼間は、バスターミナルの脇で汚れが目立つのか（？）外見は少々古くさく見えるので、ちょっと残念ですが、中は、さすがにきれいで、部屋の居心地も空調もよかったです。 マルタに関するガイドブックがあまりなく、情報不足の中、コンシェルジェがもっと色々情報を提供してくれるとよかったのですが、その点は、あまり合格点ではなかったです。欧州の人々はみんな立派なガイドブックを抱えていたので、そこまでの情報提供は必要とされていないのかもしれませんね。日本語の情報はあまりないので、ぶっつけ本番で楽しむしかないかもしれません。それでも、十分素晴らしい滞在となりましたので、ご安心を。

kylpyhuoneen tyyli kaunis ja säilyttämisen arvoinen, mutta kaipaisi remonttia. oman ja viereisen huoneen välillä oli ovi lukittuna; kaikki puhe yms. mitä siellä tapahtui kuului täysin omaan huoneeseemme! (aika epämiellyttävää kuunnella rakastelun ääniä yhdessä tyttäreni kanssa...)

For an inviting and comfortable stay this hotel was great. Everthing seemed there to make it comfortable. Food was ok - same in all of Malta.
