I took my mom to Chicago (her first time in Chicago) for her 73rd birthday. I have always stayed in the Hotel Monaco in the past as I prefer the river area over top of the Magnificent Mile and love Kimpton hotels.. Having experienced some issues with beggars south of the river, I thought it would be safer for my mom and me to be north this trip. Also, the Ritz was running a special that actually made it less expensive than most of the 4-star hotels. It is also on top of the Water Tower Place mall, and my mom does love to shop! Overall, we enjoyed our stay immensely. They upgraded us to a lake view room to my mom's delight as she had never seen Lake Michigan. Service was impeccable -- we received calls checking to see if we needed anything from housekeeping and received chocolate covered strawberries from the concierge for my mom's birthday. The lobby is quite beautiful, so we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, Deca, which is an open area in the lobby. Although we enjoyed the meal, we were surprised to receive a bill for $76 (without tip) for french toast, bacon, juice, and coffee for the two of us (I didn't even have coffee.) I thought the rooms were very nice but prefer the room decor at Hotel Monaco and still prefer the river north area, but my mom would say I chose the perfect place, and she loves saying she stayed at the Ritz.!

comfortable, clean and great spa/workout area

Great location and the hotel was excellent in every way

We had a Michigan Ave suite. Absolutely fantastic room and view of both the city and the lake! A great place to stay right by the water works just off of Michigan Ave.

I can't say enough about our stay at the Ritz-Carlton! They went above and beyond making our mini vacation wonderful! They are extremely kid-friendly! My 2 sons, 6 and 3 years old, had the "candy-man" visit, had cookies and juice boxes in the room, had child sized robes and toothbrushes, a tent was set up in the room and they even got to bake cookies with the pastry chef. I will certainly stay there again and recommend to anyone traveling to the Chicago area (especially those with kids). Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. We were lucky enough to have a lake view. The food was great! Every employee was friendly and helpful. The hotel is connected to Water Tower Place, which makes it a great location for dining and shopping. All in all, we loved it!

The Four Seasons Ritz-Carlton Chicago was wonderful. Stayed in the deluxe lake-view suite for the price of a Michigan Avenue suite. (The hotel upgraded us upon check-in.) The room was spectacular! My only complaint was that we wanted coffee in the room, and a coffee maker wasn't in my "profile," so I had to have one delivered. Housekeeping didn't clean it up, so after 2 days, I called and asked for housekeeping to deal with the coffee maker and dirty cups. Housekeeping referred me to room-service, who was responsible for changing that out. Just a little glitch to bug me. Oh well, the amenities were fantastic. The view was to die for. The location cannot be beat, as it is attached to the Water Tower Place Mall, and right next to everything North Michigan Ave has to offer! Would definitely return!

The hotel was fabulous. It was beautiful and clean, and most importantly everybody working there went out of his/her way to be accommodating and pleasant. It defined what I want out of luxury. It lived up to both the Ritz and Four Seasons reputations.

Four Seasons hotels worldwide are noteworthy for their top-tier accommodations and service. The Ritz-Carlton Chicago is no exception. Their standard room was attractive, spacious, and impeccably maintained. The concierge staff were knowledgeable and gracious. Of particular note is their security policy. As happens routinely in hotels, my room key became ineffective. Equally routinely, hotels merely "recharge" them and hand them back. Not the case here--the key was fixed and a security guard accompanied me to the room to check my picture ID. There are upscale hotels that have an officious and superior atmosphere. That kind of attitude is completely absent here--all hotel personnel are friendly and hospitable. It was a very enjoyable stay.

My wife took a weekend away from home to break the daily stress. We did not want to leave the city so downtown we went and had a wonderful time at the Ritz Carlton. wonderful staff, very clean hotel ,good food, and a worm and friendly environment. We look forward to returning in the very near future.

Great hotel, excellent location. The hospitality are is very practical, you can eat, meet and greet, all in the same area! The only problem was with the reception and the way there seems to be a waiting line when you want to check in or check out.

Amazing hotel. GREAT location - ideal. The service is great, rooms are quiet, beautiful and fully appointed, minus coffee maker. The lobby is a bit dated, but beautiful still. LOVE it!

Everything was GREAT! Chicago is such a fun city with sooooo much to do and this hotel is in the perfect location. The room was clean, the beds are so very comfortable and the swimming pool was perfect. When you are next in Chicago, consider this a place to stay!

THE HOTEL WAS VERY KID FRIENDLY. WE WERE THERE TO TAKE MY GRANDDAUGHTER TO THE AMERICAN GIRL STORE AND IT WAS CONVENIENT.

Stayed in the Executive Suite. beautiful public space. typical Ritz Carlton eye on luxury - except for the bathroom. Just a single sink and bath/shower combo instead of a stand-alone shower and separate bath. Counters were so low I thought it may have been a converted disabled room. Service also seemed a bit off. Stayed 2 nights and at 9pm the second night, they showed up with the water and fruit plate usually served in the suites. would have been nice to have on the first night so I declined. If you like a nice bathroom, stay at the Four Seasons just across Michigan Avenue.

Service very good. Shoe shine was weak -- the did virtually nothing to "shine" my shoes. Rooms need to be renovated. No coffee maker in room.

luxurious room, gorgeous view, caring staff. a truly superior experience!

If you're willing to pay extra for comfort, accessibility and service, this is the place. Our rooms were adequately spacious, clean and stylish. Beds supremely comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly -- always there to offer a bottle of water. They even helped us with an "introduction" to a ridiculously popular restaurant that doesn't take reservations. When the RC called ahead, maitre d' was expecting us and we only waited 10 minutes instead of the typical 30-60. Hotel is ON TOP OF Water Tower place, so shopping is extra convenient (ESPECIALLY for all you American Girl Doll fans!). Also conveniently located near Navy Pier. My only word of advice: be prepared to run out to grab breakfast elsewhere or pay a mint at the restaurant. Also beware: there is also a FOUR SEASONS Hotel a few blocks from this one; be sure to specify to any cab driver that it's the RITZ Four Seasons you want, or you'll be taken to the wrong place. Overall, a terrific stay.

I booked this hotel because I wanted to ensure I did not encounter any problems. I did not know Chicago but I did know that the hotel group would have a prime location. Everything else was also as expected. Great service, polite, well informed, comfy beds, powerful shower. All equated to a happy wife!!

The staff was extremely helpful in providing eating reccomendations, enabling a late check-out--the staff genuinely cared.

Location is very suitable for shoppers. Hotel is in the heart of Mag Mile. Rooms are spacious, clean, with beautiful views. We had taken 2 standard rooms. Both of them were fine.

great food in restaurant, bed wasn't that great. price was around $75 too high. view was decent elevator was confusing

the location, service, bed, concierge, everything was wonderful here!

While this hotel is truly exceptional and outstanding we have decided it is really too pricey. We will seek more value for the dollar next time.

Very helpful staff. Went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.

Our room at the Ritz Carlton was high above the city, overlooking the lake and a respite from the bustle of Chicago streets. Yet, it couldn't be better located. The staff would walk over a bed of nails to please you. The rooms was simple, elegant and polished, and the bathroom was enormous and beautiful. The bed was a bit hard for my taste, and the lamps all had CFL's which I hate, even though they are supposedly better for the environment. But these are minor quibbles. It is a dream place to stay.

The location, service, and comfort of the hotel were all excellent. The only negative was that I found a dirty woman's undergarmet in the sofa in the room. I wasn't thrilled with that, but hope that it doesn't happen too often. In addition, my husband and I had saved our two menus from a very special dinner the evening before, and unfortunately, the hotel staff chose to disgard them both when cleaning the room. If you stay there, ensure you put everything in your suitcase before leaving the room.

We mentioned that it was our 30th anniversary when we checked in and were immediately upgraded to a higher floor. As this took longer than the staff was willing to accept, Sean at the front desk was greatly dismayed. He constantly kept us informed of the situation and then upgraded us to a magnificent suite when he thought we had been waiting too long. We were treated like royalty. From the fantastic service that Sean gave us to every contact we had with the staff. We would definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends. The service, the comfort, the food and the atmosphere were unparalleled.

In Chicago was wonderful as expected, because I had stayed there last summer. If you're too impatient to wait for elevators be forewarned you have to take one to the main lobby, then another to your room. That part of Michigan Ave. is sometimes almost impassable to pedestrians. The hotel staff is wonderful, beautifully trained, act as if they're your friend, discount coupons for great restaurants, etc. The only reason I will probably NOT go back is because I find that part of town particularly frenetic, plus I hate elevators. Wonderful hotel, gracious staff, fabulous stay.

What else would you expect from a Ritz-4 seasons combination. If you can afford this location, go for it. I was working and my wife could easily walk to the attached mall, or walk down Michigan Ave and see all the other shopping on the magnificent mile. Restaurants are all over the place and can walk to them all. Have fun.

Love the layout of room and lobby @ 12fl is so cool. All the staffs are v friendly. If my husband and I visit chicago again. We will stay here again. At same time I can get cash back from my website.
