Grande Colonial Hotel - لا جولا

This is a great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Free wifi was great for us to keep in touch with friends and family (instead of having to use our phones). Everything was done to a high standard and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My only minor complaint was that there were no coffee/tea making facilities in our room! The restaurant attached (nine-ten) had amazing food, service and presentation. I would definitely recommend either to anyone travelling to La Jolla.

Really helpful staff including Steve the bell man who more than accommodated my disability in limited walking capacity by suggesting that we park the car around the side of the hotel. Room service very fast. 9-10 restaurant is world class and had great ambiance.

We splurged for a 3 night stay in late March. La Jolla is a quiet enough upscale town right on some beautiful beaches. The valets and check in staff were always friendly and professional. You'll pay good money but be well taken care of here. If its not too busy in La Jolla, you can easily find parking on the street alongside the hotel, saving you the cost of valet parking. We never ate in the hotel restaurant which is I'm sure wonderful. We had a smaller budget so went out in the evenings to some less expensive restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was delicious pastries and coffee from Panera bread a block east. My wife's hair drying towel was accidentally taken by room service. We left our phone number at checkout, and never heard back. I was surprised as everything else about the hotel was very detail oriented, and I thought we'd at least get a follow up call. But other than that it was charming...we paid extra for an ocean view from the top floor. You are a block away from the water but the view is great.

easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and beach. I would reccomend for families, couples, elderly, etc.

This hotel was about two blocks from the beach. We walked to the beach and were greeted by dozens of harbor seals and their pups on the beach! Fantastic sights. Shops, boutiques, post office, restaurants, gelato and yogurt shops, bars...all within easy walking. GREAT LOCATION and neighborhood. Friendly front-desk staff. Only thing I didn't like was there was no overnight parking (although I had my car in a legal space to the side of the hotel for more than the allowed two hours and nothing happened to it). However, i didn't want to take chances and paid the $22 for overnight valet parking (which does include in/out privileges). Beds were very comfortable. Loved all the pillows.

Location, location, location. This hotel is very convenient as it is walking distance to restaurants and the beach. It was perfect for my parents and very reasonably priced. They had dinner at 9/10 and loved it as well. The rooms were a bit outdated in terms of decor and musty but it was a good sized room.

A fine hotel that met all expectations and demands for family and friends. The hotel itself is wonderful, the restored Otis Elevator is beautiful, but the people they have are exceptional. All of them. The food, and the special attention given were exceptional.

We stayed in room 208 which was an odd configuration. First, we kept hearing noises because it was right around the corner from the front desk. The tv was in an odd spot making it difficult to view. The remote did not work. The young ladies at the front desk as well as the girls in the restaurant and the valets were all cordial and warm. We just felt that Jessica was not at her best. She rarely smiled and she forgot to tell the valet to get our bags. She just made us feel uncomfortable. It wasn't worth our effort to be asked to be moved to another room.

Wonderful hotel with great service, beautifully located just off the ocean. Quiet, comfortable suites.

Our family recently stayed here over Thanksgiving and we had a great time. The staff were incredibly helpful, nice, and customer focused and we loved our room. I would go back in a hear beat.

My family and I stayed at this hotel over Thanksgiving vacation. The location is perfect - right in La Jolla, steps away from the beach. You cant get more convenient. Service was excellent - its a pretty small hotel so the staff get to know you over your stay and are in general well trained and pleasant. Only complaint is that the hotel is feeling a bit old. Bathrooms arent particularly nice, closets are quite small. The rooms themselves are generous. But it all feels a touch old compared to the price you pay. Overall a positive experience though. I'd stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay. Very convenient to shops and restaurants. The staff went above & beyond to help with suggestions of where to go & places to eat--always with a smile. The next time I visit, it will surely be for a longer period of time!

The hotel staff was consistently helpful and genuinely pleasant, not at all convtrived, and I really appreciated this. I feel comfortable recommending this hotel to all my friends.

Very nice accomodations. Stayed in Garden Suite with kitchen. Front desk and dining room staff are adequate but not helpful enough at this price point. Food and servers very good for breakfast. Restaurant week had dining room booked so we could not eat there for dinner. Surprised they could not accomodate us given that we were staying there.

Charming and a great location it's right in the middle of the village. The traffic noise was loud even with the windows closed. Unfortunately the air conditioner was louder than the street noise. All was quite during the week by 11:00pm but the village wakes up by 7:00am. The palm trees were pruned at 5:15am just outside our window. Ask for rooms in the back (quiet and better views) but make sure you are not over the garbage bin. Remember air conditioner-loud.

The hotel is really nice and well maintained. The only black mark is the air conditioning noise coming from the adjacent building which made it almost impossible to fully relax while inside the room.

Wonderful hotel excellent staff

We only stayed 1 night but we had a lovely stay. The staff was friendly and helpful.

This clean, comfortable hotel is a good value. Even though the valet parking was expensive, the convenience of the CG's location and the hotel's comfortable appointments and friendly (and ample) staff made for a great stay.

This place is small, but full of heart and charm. Also pretty hip. The bar at nine-ten was popping off

Great location in the heart of it all, free wifi etc... Clean rooms, well sized 1913 hotel that has been renovated etc... Good breakfast at the Nine Ten restaurent. Great service

We had such a wonderful time at the Grand Colonial in La Jolla. Just a couple of blocks from everything , this hotel is in an ideal location. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. Staying at this hotel really enhanced our trip. Would definitely stay a here again. The only draw back was the hotel parking was not included and was an extra $22/ day . But well worth the vallet and not having to find parking.

We stayed in a Garden Suite with a kitchen. Room was beautifully done with everything necessary for a great stay. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Everything we could want was within walking distance with beautifuly views.

I like very much this hotel because of it's location and the hotel itself. Although the people at the front desk were not very nice. They are not open to help you in any personal difficulty, and that's not nice. I would like very much if this place, had a personal treatment and more professional, specifically in the front desk.

Returning guest-every stay has been a pleasure!

This is a quaint, classic hotel with a great location in La Jolla. The service was excellent. Clean rooms, friendly, fast valet, front desk and concierge service. Pool area was clean and nice setting. Restaurant has excellent food and reasonable prices for the quality. Beds were clean and comfortable. Rooms were quiet. Bathrooms were clean and recently remodeled. Will stay there again and highly recommend to others.

It's an OLD hotel, so the rooms reflect what people were used to, back in the day. Don't expect anything spacious. A vague mildewy smell, probably due to proximity to the ocean. The hotel should invest in having the housekeeping crew use Febreze. Other than that, no complaints!

If you want to be in La Jolla, this is one of your best options. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel has a nice classic feel to it. The pool is small but it seems fine for a hotel this size. You're right in the middle of town and valet service takes the parking challenge out of the equation for about $20/night.

I wanted a nice hotel close to the sea in La Jolla. The Grande Colonial fits this bill. It is very well located in the La Jolla village, one corner away from the sea, and it is indeed a very nice and beautiful hotel. It is a very luxurious hotel. Maybe this was not very appropriate to my way of travelling (what is the use of two closets in your room, including a walk-in closet, when you travel with only a cary-on luggage!) I would definitely have preferred a room with a normal closet, but with a coffee pot :)

The Grande Colonial in Lajolla........Wow, great hotel, great location, great service. We couldn't have had a more perfect experience. Wendy & Jim, Boulder Colorado

Overall our stay was satisfactory, however, the room was on the small side with very little room to sit anywhere but the bed. My husband is 6'4" and the shower head was too low for him (chest high) as was the very small toilet. It is boutique hotel.

This was my second stay at the Grande Colonial, and it's just incredibly charming, convenient and pleasant. Great restaurant and really attentive staff throughout the hotel. The only issue (and this is super nitpicky and not an actual problem) is the super slow elevator. The place isn't huge, but they only have one elevator, so you have to hang out a bit before it arrives. Otherwise, this is a practically perfect hotel. Doesn't hurt that La Jolla is gorgeous, either.

the hotel has some old world charm to it. but that means the rooms are a bit dated. One major issue is there was no dresser or anywhere to put non hanging clothes. this was a pain The bathroom was a bit cramped again with little space to put your things. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay in a good location. I would not recommend it for families. Good for couples or groups of friends etc.
