we thought it was going to be better, but the bathrooms were not very clean and the tile grout between the bathroom tiles, inside and outside the shower area was missing a lot, leaving open cracks (holes) in the wall. The shower curtains were blackish all around the lower part, the small wood area of the room was loose and squeeke as we walked over it. There was no coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board and/or iron on the room and for the price was a very simple and small room. Will not return if offer for free, thanks but no. Close to tourist are, but just that!!!!!!!

easy trans from gare central, perfect location for grand place and restaurants

No water provided in the room and everything (EVERYthing!!) cost you extra (event a coffeemaker/hot water in your room....). Conveniently located to most of touristy places. Room is a size on the closet. Dirty carpet (worst then the airport security screening area). Shower didn't work. Will no go there next time in Brussels.

I stayed at the Royal Windsor for five nights and my stay was almost perfect. The location is awesome....it is a five minute walk to the Grand Place, a train station, and countless other attractions in the city. The hotel was clean and I felt the amenities were more than sufficient for the price I paid. My only issue with the hotel was the ridiculous amount I was charged for calling America. Before I placed the calls I called the front desk to ask how much it would cost a minute to call the States; I was told that although noone was aware of the exact rates. I pressed the matter by asking...."well it won't be like $5 a minute will it?". Imagine my suprise when I checked out and was charged @ $8 a minute to call the my family back home. To make the matters even worse, when I expressed my annoyance to the front desk staff about the high amount I was charged I was told "well everyone knows that it costs around that amount to make international calls".

Hotel was very close to the main attractions.

I will not be returning to this hotel. The front desk staff were too preoccupied with a local television show that was filming to get me into my room after an overseas flight. Furthermore, they put a 100 euro hold on the credit card I provided at check in without so much as telling me. I only found out several days later when I saw it listed online as a pending charge (my room was pre-paid and I had no additional charges for anything at any point during my stay).

Breakfast was excellent buffet but very expensive!

I stayed here for a week at the end of March 2012. The hotel is situated in a great spot. It is well appointed and clean. However, the rooms facing the street (Duquesnoy) having single glazing and there was a lot of noise till the early morning from revellers over the weekend. I did't expect this for an expensive room!

A bit noisy with the tourists celebrating in the street, but not the hotel's fault. Blame that on Belgium beer-and tourists. Excellent breakfast. Staff is efficient, helpful, and very pleasant.

Everything was great, location, service, quality. The only thing was the parking, €50 for two days and breakfast was €30 per day.

Breakfast buffet was very good. however, most of the food was out very quickly. still a great stay.

By European standards, this is a great hotel. Great location right across the street from train station and around corner from main square. One thing that made me a little upset was that that the interest was advertised as free and that is only for a wired connection. That didnt do me any good for my Ipad but if I wanted wireless it was 20 Euro more a day. I specifically looked for hotels with internet included in the price so felt a little scammed.

Good business hotel by Brussels standards; well-run and clean and efficient, if a bit bland. E20 charge for daily wifi is basically extortion, but at least the rooms are clean and the staff polite

Very handy location near Grande Platz and central station. Good breakfast. Internet a bit slow. Overall good value.

I just stayed at the Royal-Windsor last week. One of its main selling points is its proximity to the Gare Central; instead of an expensive cab, you can take a cheap train from the airport to the Gare Central and then it's an easy walk, even with luggage, half a block down the hill to the hotel. The fitness center is tiny and the place doesn't have all the whistles and bells of some of the higher-end hotels. For example, the bath towels are a bit worn and scratchy (kind of like the ones you have at home) compared to the big, fluffy towels you'll find in a truly luxury hotel. But it's walking distance to almost anything else you'd want to see or do in Brussels, including the Grand Place (where you can get a cheap continental breakfast). I would absolutely stay here again.

This hotel is very well located with Grand Place around the corner. But the hotel has surely seen its better days. It is quite worn down, horrible carpets in the room and noisy AC and refridgerators. It is unbelivable hot in the corridors. The charge 30€ for breakfast and it is surely not worth it!

The location of the hotel is perfect, as it is situated in the middle of the city centre, just steps away for the Grand Place and shopping streets. But the room of the hotel was not worth 5 stars to me. The internetsite of the hotel stated that all the rooms were recently completely renovated, but the room we had was far from that. Although the room was fairly clean, one could tell that everything in the room had been there for over 15-20 years. Funny smelling pillows, a bathroom door with a hole in it and a bath tub way over its lifetime made this hotel a lot less than what I expected of it.

Do not let the pictures fool you!!! I booked a "superior deluxe suite" - nothing deluxe about it, anywhere! - it is old, run down, ugly, and tiny! The room was decorated some time in the early 90s and not a single piece has been changed since then. Not even the walls have been redone. And oh! - our room was facing a brick wall - very romantic! The only way this hotel could have earned its 5 stars is with the 30 euro breakfast that is not included and their fortunate location. I grant the concierge was good, but that's the case in any hotel. The reception accidentially gave the same room to another person and well, it got awkward. Do not get fooled by the map - Brussels is tiny and city centre even more so. And I understand that most hotels near the tourist traps are in the same condition as "Royal" Windsor so I suggest you choose a hotel that is a little bit outside the city centre. We stayed at Floris Hotel Avenue for our last night - perfect! Good price, nice decor, breakfast included.

There is no free wifi in the room which is a major problem for iPad users.

Hotel is ideally located just 2 minutes walk from the central station. Friendly staff. Rooms are ok but miss some amenities for a 5 stars.

This hotel was probably a five hotel 30 years ago. However, nowadays it is old, decaying and could do with a lick of paint. The location is very good, as it is close to the Grand Place and the central train station. The rooms are OK clean but dated, the staff are friendly enough. This hotel is probably a three star standard now. Be careful, they charge you for items from the minibar even if you just pick something up and put it back......there are no signs to warn guests of this!

Liked the location of being right near the train station and important sites in central Brussels. Small fitness center with a few cardio machines and some weights, fine for standards of European cities. Cable internet service was not working so they gave me wireless access for free--showed very good customer service. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Not a luxury room, but one shouldn't expect that for the price. It's a very nice, clean hotel, and i would stay there again.

Staff not helpful but good location.

All the peripheral bars, club and facilities attached to the hotel were closed. Rooms were too small and in desperate need of refreshing.

Steps away from the Brussels Central train station and the famous Grand Place, the Royal Windsor Grand Place Hotel could not be more perfectly placed. The staff were gracious and helpful and I would highly recommend it.

The hotel has an excellent location which made up for the other factors which had fallen below expectations. We had high expectations on booking the hotel, however, a few points were disappointing namely: Rooms are in need of a renovation. OPur room was a non-smoking one, however, had a strong tobacco odour. We complained to reception who didn't seem to take us very seriously but agreed in the end to transfer us to another room (even though the hotel wasn't full). The next room was smelling equally as bad of stale tabacco. Given we were only staying for 1 night we put up with it. I was quite shocked to learn to have a tea making facilities in the room meant paying an additonal 8 Euros, something I hadn't encountered before even in the cheapest hotels! I'd expect this to be complimentary given the hotels star rating and the amount you pay for as room. I find the principle of paying extra for what is normally included in your room very poor indeed. Bathroom was a little old with leaking shower. As mentioned overall the hotel served it's purpose given it's excellent location, however, in hindsight I believe we could have got better value for money at an alternate nearby hotel.

Lovely Hotel with a great location. Breakfast far too expensive 30 Euros each but loads of cafes and bars nearby to eat in. Very clean and well presented, lovely would go back. Just one thing car park very costly 25 Euros to park overnight can park in the nearby car parks for a lot less and just a small walk, would go back though spotless!

We had a short stay booked and stayed only two nights. The exterior and interior of the hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly though I was expecting them to be rude after reading some reviews before my stay. Fortunately for us the staff were very accomodating. Location of the hotel was perfect - moments to the Central station and short walk to the grand place. There was a bit of noise in the evening but I didn't mind so much as we were there only two nights and it just made me feel that people were obviously having a good time but that was the only fault.

The hotel has fantastic location, walking distance to all attraction almost. However because of the smoking rooms in the same building, my non-smoking room smelt just as if someone had been smoking in it anyway. Big no-no for people that are very sensitive to smoke after smell. Facilities are out dated. Considering the cost, for me it was not all worthy.

Checked us in to our room even though we were very early which was great. Very convenient location but not right on the Grand Place which was good as it would have been noisy at night. Very comfortable room ['Superior' which for them is 'Standard'] with everything you would expect + a bit more. We did not breakfast at the hotel as too expensive but plenty of other places are nearby; but we had a drink in the bar which was very pleasant if expensive.

Great hotel. Great area. Minor problem of wood rot in the bathroom (203). Pleasant staff.

For what you get.

I arrived at this hotel with my partner having recieved a very good deal for a one night stay, and was pleasantly suprised when we were upgraded to an executive suite (having booked a superior room). The suite was lovely with excellent views of the grand place - which was especially beautiful when lit up at night time. We ordered room service, which was lovely. All staff we're very friendly and went out of their way to help. Additionally, this hotel accepted dogs (for a small additional charge, cheaper than many others) which was the main reason we booked in to this hotel. We will definately be returning soon.

The hotel could not have been in a better location. We were close to everything. The staff was polite, but not overly friendly. Also, we could not get our room to cool down at all. Maybe the thermostat was broken in our room. The room was kept clean, but several times the staff would come in to clean before we were even awake. Sometimes this would happen twice in a morning only 5 minutes apart.

Stay for 2 night, it was certainly not a 5 star hotel as they had stated. Staff was extremely unfriendly. The bath products were not Bulgari as their website had described, just some generic items. Rooms were very small, but clean. Location was good, very close to the Grand Place.

Booked the hotel on a whim on a Friday afternoon as we'd never been to Brussels before and it turned out to be the perfect place to explore from. Staff were fantastic and facilities were spot on. Two small things that we figured out fairly quickly-the hotel restaurant is lovely, but I would go into town to eat for better value for money and also, don't bother using their parking as there is an excellent interparking underground car park in the square 1 minute round the corner that saved us 30 Euros during our stay!

The thermostat was stuck in high. The rooms are tiny (all older European hotels suffer from this fate) and staff was indifferent at best. Te location is worth the pain though. It literally is on the Grand Platz and the Greek food behind the garage is fantastic and cheap. So, if you are going for a short stay and do not mind being slowly boiled, go ahead and stay there.

this is a very nice hotel close to the city center.

The hotel is readily reached from the exit to the main line "Brussels Centraal" Station. The Metro exit is a tortuous route away. The hotel is a very good standard. Try and get a room that is at the front. The rear overlooks the fire exit. Breakfast is exorbitantly expensive. So, go out to a Cafe. Air Conditioning controls had no effect, but we were not uncomfiortable. Staff are very riendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and good quality. Our second stay here and no regrets.
