this trip was for business last was for pleasure, both at westmark. though anchorage selection of hotels is small for higher end, i would put westmark up in the top 5. it sits directly on the main road smack almost middle and within walking distance to major bars and the mall. what else could you need if your visiting?

This is the second time I have stayed at the Westmark and I will stay here again. The rooms are clean and nice. I would recommend an update on the bed covers, room 307 has very dated covers. I would also recommend that the bar/restaurant stay open later then 9:00pm. I would have spent $30.00 or $40.00 extra at the hotel if it were open later. Over all a really nice hotel.

When coming to town we preferr to stay at the Westmark. Why? The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are affordable to Alaskans and the beds are clean and very comfortable.

The hotel was fine and comfortable. However, we come from a rural area, and there was a bunch of noise. Our room faced south, which looked right at the bus depot, so there was a lot of noise until late in the night, starting early the next morning. If we were to stay again, I'd ask for a room not facing south. There is a charge for parking. Make sure you ask the rate to determine if you should park in another area.

Charged $8 day for parking a rental car.

Hotel was fantastic. The bed was soft and firm. The view was amazing and the staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant.the hotel and staff made the vacation and true joy!

Decent, clean hotel. First night (during iditarod) there was lots of street noise (people yelling) at bar time...3am. Turned on the fan which remedied the problem, but the balcony and sliding door made the 4th floor pretty noisy. Ask for a higher floor.

It was very nice but a tour bus was idling outside our room for a few hours which really interrupted our sleep in Sunday morning.

Costumer service was lacking. There was contradiction of information from staff member to staff member.

Small outdated rooms. Plastic tub enclosure for the walls, no tile work. For the price it is one level above Motel 6. I would choose one of the other major hotels downtown to stay at if you are in Anchorage.

This was my first not-pleasant stay at the Westmark. I didn't realize they have economy rooms for these discounted rates.... Crazy loud pipes in the wall behind the headboard (the noise did dissipate but sounded like a jack-hammer for a while), vacuum had clearly been cutting corners, TV set from the 90s. The gym air is foul and stagnant. Pros: staff was pleasant, restaurant is good, convenient location, parking (for a small fee). Next time will pay slightly more for something else downtown.

Hotel was fine and clean. Not as nice as the pictures led to believe. Nothing exceptional, but nothing terrible. Very limited parking around the hotel and had to park down the street in a garage if the hotel lot was full - this is still after paying to park each day (which is typical downtown). My husband would drop me and the baby off then go park and he mentioned being uncomfortable walking back to the hotel with anything expensive (computer) at night... I'm glad I wasn't traveling on my own. The TV was below average. It's an old style box TV which is fine - but, shows aren't designed to fit those TVs anymore and all the images are distorted on most channels. Either things are cut off or people are short and wide etc. A little annoying when what else do you do in a hotel room, but turn on the TV!? I probably would choose somewhere else for my next trip. The rate was decent for the quality.

It was awesome how close it was to all the conference events and the nightlife. Room was nice and big. One point to make for improvement is having a closet or a rack on which to hang clothes - I had a career fair one of the days of the conference and having a place to hang my buisness outfit would have been nice as well as a place to hang coats so they wouldn't get linty.

parking was exceptionally limited, no valet

it was ok

I think that the Westmark needs upgrading in the rooms, it was dreary as in lighting, style and comfort. One elevator was not working so wait time for elevator was long.

over all a good stay bed linen and carpet were dated, the bathroom tub surround needs replaced and the drapes in our room needed some attention

Parking is a challenge

Upon checkin, the counter clerk asked me about the job market where I came from. Clearly he's looking for a change. Following morning I asked if there was a continental breakfast and the GM said, "no, but you can pay at any restaurant and they will give you food." Rude. Hotel bathroom had someone else's long hair pretty much everywhere. During my 5 days, it was not removed from bathroom floor -- no gratuity for housekeeping. This is not a business person's hotel -- most of the guests seemed to be passing through on a stop to a more outdoorsy destination. Wireless connection in room was horrible. The cable guide doesn't match the availalble channels -- HBO was no where to be found. I asked the front desk and the night shift lady didn't know. This hotel is not properly represented in the description or in the photos. Definitely, a must miss when I return to Anchorage.

The room was very dated (80's deco?) and it did not look like what was shown on the website. Not sure if the rest of the rooms are updated.

Had warned by the hotel clerk and manager may not book there anymore.

We checked in to find that there were dirty towels hanging on the bathroom door and hair in the tub. Our room was on the 2nd floor across from the employee lounge which had the door propped open. As a result, not only did you get to see everything inside, but you heard and smelled everything from the microwave and employee conversation. The hotel is old and in need of refurbishment. Front desk staff was very helpful howver and the breakfast at the restaurant was good.

Our stay at the Westmark was only 1 night before moving on with our vacation. We found it clean, comfortable and within walking distance of eating and shopping. The hotel is dated and older and the public transportion pick up is on the back side of the hotel where our room was, which was rather noisy, but did not bother our sleeping. The staff was very helpful and all was smooth with the check in and check out.

Great location for visiting Anchorage

Good location in a small town. No refrigerator in rooms. Smelly shower curtain; just throw it in the washing machine. Could be much better with not much effort.

I've stayed at this location usually 2 days for over 10 years prior to going back to Hawaii. It may because I am an oriental but they always give me a room far from the elevator, and always, the lower level. I've asked for a room closer to the elevator as I have a left bum knee. I've also asked for a room higher so I would not hear the noise on the street as I have experienced last year when below me, police were there for a good 3 hours arresting someone then towing his car away. They've always given me a room looking at no where. Can't even see the waters. Noisy. Not happy. Love the location though. happy to say, Asher at the desk this past trip gave me a room closer to the elevator and on the 10th floor. Good job Asher.

Most staff very nice. Hotel is in a very convent location!!!

It looked &felled like a two star hotel!

downtown is out of date, need more resturants

Went up for a family wedding and was satisfied with everything except being downtown. Not used to the noise and constant racket of being in the city. Hotel was fine

fridge was requested but it never worked. shower had only a dribble of water and was very very poor standard.

I was treated very poorly by a staff member at this hotel and would not stay here again. When I brought up the issue to the manager the staff member laughed at me like I was an idiot. If I'm paying as much as I am I will not be treated like that.

Title tells it all. Decent price for the location, but the front desk staff was rude, short and sat there on a personal phone call with me and my family trying to check in at 1:00 am. Upon waiting he told me that I was supposed to be there last night. I told him that I called and told you I was on a late flight. He went ahead and gave us a room; but seemed irked the whole time.

Outdated. Bad room. Heard gun shots at night.

Fantastic staff and a great location.

Enjoyed the stay very much; good price. Staff maede me feel right at home
