Grand Hotel Oslo - أوسلو

Our family tried to sleep in 3rd floor and about 2AM it was possible. There was big party on second floor and you can just listen to that music. Not what you want to do with your children in five star hotel. I hope that hotel can organize their rooms better. Now I have to say that next time we have to choose some other hotel. It´s a pity, because we like hotel in many ways. Some other room on some other night can be a good choice.

This was one of the nicest hotel stays I've ever had. Staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful, and great to talk to, facilities were elegant and beautiful and in a perfect location. It is truly a grand hotel and as nice as many that cost much more. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about the Grand Hotel.

A great hotel found through Hotels.com. My fiancee and I had a fab weekend break in Oslo and the Grand Hotel played a large part in that. Wonderful staff who were happy to help and even advised us on what we should go and do/see and when. The rooms were lovely, bed was so comfortable and I liked that the hotel is 5 Star but not very modern, management has wisely maintained its charm. We used the Spa a few times (pool, sauna and steam room) which was lovely. Excellent facilities, helpful staff and our belongings were safe in the environment. Finally the Grand Cafe, I had read about this as a place to go within Lonely Planet. We were fortunate enough that breakfast (which was included with our stay) was in the cafe. It is just a perfect place, charming, sophisticated and elegant. The food was delicious and there was more than enough choice. The staff were very helpful and provided the right amount of attention. Each day the staff would bring around something different whether it be fresh fruit juice, homemade chocolate (on Easter Sunday) or a fresh veg juice. If you are in Oslo, the Grand Hotel will make your trip!

After staying in this hotel numerous times, on this occasion, I was disapointed. Firstly, I was give a very bad single room. After I paid for an upgrade, I settled into my room. Then I found out the TV did not work. Next, I ordered room service, it took a long time to come and then it was cold. Finally, I found a big fat man asleep in the coridor. Finally, the tailoet roll holder fell off the wall. Basically, not what was expected for this landmark Oslo hotel.

I've been coming to the Grand Hotel for years, and always leaving feeling a little disappointed. It never QUITE lived up to the standard it should have. However ... this last trip was just perfect. Beautiful, quite room, perfect service. The room service menu could be a little more extensive though.

The hotel is in a great location, surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants and ideal for sightseeing. The room would have been fine if they hadn’t decided to include two armchairs, which made getting out of bed very difficult. The room didn’t need and couldn’t take the extra large furniture. One major disappointment with the hotel was the unrequested wake up at 07.05 am from maintenance being carried out to the air conditioning (as my husband is a maintenance manager he knew exactly what the noise was). When I mentioned this at reception I was informed that work is permit to be carried out between 07.00 – 15.00 daily. Something they decided to omit from their website, I’ve checked. S, if you like to sleep to a reasonable hour then forget it and be warned that it might not happen. Really not impressed with the reply or attitude from reception that is seemed perfectly acceptable for my holiday/sleep to be interrupted. On that basis I wouldn’t recommend or every stay at the Grand or any sister hotel again.

Overall at age, but well kept hotel with few surprises.

The Grand Hotel is conveniently located to transportation for farther journeys and walking distance to all the main central sights in Oslo. Staff was accommodating to requests, breakfast buffet was well laid out with multiple selections of fish, cheeses, meats and pastry, and the overall feel was quite classy. Enjoyable roof deck bar with decent prices (for Oslo). There is a real character and history to the hotel, a stop to be repeated.

This hotel has impeccable rooms and impeccable service. Norway is a very expensive place, and when I told my colleagues what I paid to stay there they were stunned that it was not 5 times more. The quality of service, food and ambience is unmatched in Oslo.

Amazing location, however, the hotel has No safe in the room and it is a bit old, that is, it needs renovation.

The hotel is beautiful on the outside although most hallways look terribly unkempt. Upon our arrival, we were assigned a room that did not have the amenities listed in the room description we received when we made our booking. We specifically requested a non-smoking room. Because of the weather, our window had to be opened (extremely hot and only heating was available as customary due to the weather/season). We were placed in the worst part of the hotel,******** which was actually almost completely vacant due to the dates of our stay. Our window opened to a dark courtyard which was the only place people could smoke around the hotel, so we were exposed to a whole night of cigarette nicotine (my father had gotten sick-eventually ended up with pneumonia-and my mother and I had to take medication for allergies- we are allergic to nicotine, which explains our initial request for a non-smoking room). Oslo is an expensive city, which we were aware of, as well as the type of hotel we chose. When we choose luxury, we expect great service and attention to detail. What we actually encountered at the Grand Hotel was some of the worst service we have received in any of the numerous countries/cities we have visited and lived in. The "Grand Cafe" staff would not allow us to bring food back to my sick father to the room, we had to pull information from the unpleasant concierge, and my personal favorite was how rudely we were greeted at the hotel restaurant and the spa. Fortunately, for every employee that provided atrocious service, there was another who made up for it by assuring that we were taking care of despite every challenge we encountered. There were no hair appointments at the hotel's hair salon during our stay, nor was there any space at the spa for hotel guests on Saturday, since it was full of locals that occupied Every seat and had booked all the appointments for the services we had been looking forward to during our time at our hotel in Oslo. Amazing hotel in a location which is easily accessible to most attractions. Very professional & friendly staff.

Very disappointing stay at what was supposed to be Oslo's best hotel. We were allocated a dreadful room with a bathroom not fit for any star rating. When we asked to move we were told that there were no rooms available in the same price category. We could, however, upgrade to a junior suite (at considerable extra cost). We looked that the suite but it wasn't worth the extra. Only after much pressure to do something, low and behold a refurbished room became availble. This was much better, except the shower sprayed water all over the floor. Anyone thinking of booking a stay should not accept any room which has not had the bathroom upgraded. Staff attitudes were also interesting. One employee told us that Norwegian hotel standards are far below those of other countries so we shouldn't expect too much. Another staff member told us when we got down to breakfast 5 minutes after the end of serving that we 'should have got up earlier'. Not even a cup of coffee was possible. Avoid. There must be better hotels in Oslo.

A fine traditional Grand Hotel environment, though the lobby/cafe areas are more grand than the hallways or the room decor. Still, an excellent hotel with an excellent professional staff in a perfect location.

Good and quite affordable with central location. However, we were 4 people staying in the superior room. The room was too small for 4 people; it's double room with 2 extra beds which made it to crowdy. But, excellent service. Amazing breakfast

The hotel is nice, with a good location, the only tiny gripe is using the hotel swimming pool for kids. I don't think they really welcome the idea of kids using their pool, only because it is part of their spa area, and they were very insistent that our kids be extra quiet (no such stipulations on some of the adults there though!). Then when we returned another day, there was no room as there were already a maximum of 4 kids in the pool, and the recommendations was that we should have booked/reserved a space at the swimming pool?!?! So, I suppose it would have been nice to know about their swimming pool policies . . .

The Grand Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. The front desk employees and the doorman were very helpful. The Cafe next door serves a great dinner and is where you eat your buffet breakfast. I can't say enough about how well they treated us. Would definately stay there again.

Very nice hotel if you make sure to get one of the recently renovated rooms. The old ones do not match the hotel´s status. The hotel was fully paid, breakfast included, but I got additional charges that are yet to be cleared.

The Grand Oslo Hotel is very grand! It is beautiful! However, it is directly across the street from the Parliment building many protests go on in the square. We were there for a Saturday night stay no one at the front desk mentioned to us that the square has music and loud noise until 3:00 a.m. I could not sleep! I made ear plugs out of tissue covered my head oh my god nothing help. I just could not sleep. At 3:30 in the morning I went down to the front desk and they apologized the noise happens every Friday and Saturday night. They did offer to remove all my extra charges which was nice. We had to be up to catch a 7:00 am flight I was so sick. I reccomend this hotel it is beautiful howvever Do not stay on the front of the building.

It was close to all the sights which was great as we had two children with us.It had a luxurious feel to it but I didn't feel that the staff were well trained.They were not able to help me when i wanted to book tickets for the city bus but it did say in the room that the staff could book tickets.The breakfast was scrumptious it was to every one taste.The waitresses were the most unhelpful and miserable looking staff i have ever seen in a hotel.When your on holidays its nice for the staff to be pleasant.Here most of them were unhappy and didn't want to be there. air conditioning didn't work which made it hard to sleep at night.we were watching t.v with the kids one night and the house keeping manager just opened the door and walked in she didn't give an explanation why

great location in heart of the action.

good hotel, right out the hotel door is Oslo at your fingertips. Pricey of course as all Norway is. The kids at the front desk (the reception staff) are great and have a wealth of city information. Breakfast is good but crowded due to chair and table arrangements. Not much to the rooms but we all know this is a tourist hotel. Best part is Oslo and their bus,metro, and tram systems. Easy to learn and takes you all over. I did not have to pay the extra person charge as billed by this web site.

Great location, great service. Place is lovely, super 5 star breakfast, stayed in a family room for 3 nights. Great value in a pricey city. Pool is lovely in the top floor spa.Highly recommend the Grand.

Very pleasant stay - - wonderful and helpful staff.

The initial room we were given on level 3 was very old with a distinct smell. Construction noise in the rooms next door was very annoying. TV was not working. When we complained we got upgraded to a suit on the 5th floor where the room was well decorated and without the smell.

We stayed in the Grand for several days on business, and were very pleased with the free WiFi. The hotel itself is lovely and our room was clean and comfortable. Our only complaints are that neither the air conditioner or bar fridge were working. Neither was a big deal, especially since we could open the window, but it would have been nice to store some cold drinks in the fridge.

This is truly a grand hotel! perfect location, elegant, extraordinary breakfast, close to the airport bus stop AND train! Ideal.

Quiet, luxurious room in the middle of Oslo with friendly staff.

Is in the center of downtown. Down the street from the palace & across the street from Parliment. Shopping & restaurants close by. We were able to walk everywhere. The pool was amazing. A nice bar and patio at the top of the hotel. Breakfast buffet in the morning was very tasty. Many choices to choose from. You will not be hungry.

Fantastic location which encouraged site seeing by walking and some distances by tram. Everything is so conveniently located from the hotel with very good outside bars and restaurants.

Too many faults to list: Some rooms require a revamp; Some rooms are opposite a building that plays EXTREMELY loud music until 02:30 hours; Concierge staff are very slow to respond; The air fans cannot be turned off; No tea / coffee facilities in some rooms. No conditioner in bathrooms; Note that construction work is being carried out next to the hotel so some rooms are noisy. The breakfast is pretty good. Location is perfect.

Central locationbut not noisy. Bus to airport behind hotel and very good service. Close to all the sites and facing a delightful square.Within walking distance to good shops and places to eat. Very close to Nobel Peace Hall Centre which is a must visit to see it great displays. Staff very friendly and gave helpful and useful advice about places to visit and how to get there on foot. Very close to national rail and bus for day trips to places just outside Oslo.

The hotel location is great, and the architecture of the building is beautiful. However, we made a sad joke with my partner at breakfast: there hotels that are "wannabes", this one is "usedtobe". Although the front desk clerks and concierge were efficient and smiling, the bellboys (which often make a difference between 2-star and 5-star hotels, were totally ignorant of their guests: they simply stood statue-like behind the desk, watching guests push the heavy doors open or drag their bags up the stairs. A Scandinavian friend told me that this is "typical service" here, you ask if you want to be served, they will not offer; or, as she put it, "we are more for self-service". Five-start self-service... The situation was virtually the same at the Grand Café, where breakfast was served. Mind you, the café in itself is beautiful and the buffet offered plenty to choose from, but the service was minimal, if at all. We had to wait every morning at the entrance, by the register, for someone to come and check our room number. The waiters seems to know very little about waiting on guests (and this happened at lunch, too) - there was rarely any question as to whether we need anything, we had to ask every single time for a re-fill of our coffee cups (and we twice got tea instead!), one waiter dropped a load of cups (luckily empty) next to our table on her way to the kitchen, etc. I saw plenty of people get bored waiting for coffee and got up and went to the coffee stations (which were not part of the buffet, but for staff use only) and helped themselves to coffee or tea from the pots - not once did any waiter react and offer to pour the coffee... After lunch we waited for several minutes for a waiter to pass by and ask for the bill and eventually went to the register by the door and try to pay there - yet we were "kindly" told to go and wait at the table because the waiter will come. Not the type of reaction I personally expect in a hotel of this reputation. Rooms are extreme

Very nice but needs updating. Expensive garage parking. Excellent morning buffet and evening restaurant. Great location on main pedestrian mall. Overpriced for the label of "Grand."

Great location in Oslo and friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. Do be aware that the rooms can get very warm and it is difficult to cool them down without opening windows, which can lead to lots of street noise (we were out partying too so it didn't really bother us too much). At checkout I asked the woman at the Front Desk to order a cab, she said just go outside and ask the bellman, well it was raining out I tried to explain to her. We ordered a cab from the bellman and waited 20mins before being told that the cabs were not going to be coming around so we should manage to get to the airport some other way. Well, in the pouring rain we ran to the Central Station and caught the Express Train to the airport. If we had been informed 20 mins earlier as to the situation, it would have been appreciated. And the bellman made no attempt to assist us with getting to the airport. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful area, but it could stand another renovation. Some of the older rooms in the older section of the hotel are not that easy to get to with luggage. You have to go up or down a half flight of stairs to get to the rooms. Oslo is a beautiful city and a lot of sights are easy to get to once you get a feel for the public transportation system.

The Grand Hotel is the ideal place to stay in Oslo. Having stayed in several 5 star hotels, this is one of the nicest and elegant experiences we have had. Definitely the premier place to stay in Oslo. The location is perfect, and the staff is incredibly friendly. And the breakfast is perhaps the best breakfast experience in Scandinavia. The spa services (e.g., massage) are fantastic as well.
