For our purposes this hotel was just fine. We were travelling with friends who had a house in Anahola, just 15 minutes away. We were close to food shopping and town amenities, not a good swimming beach, but they had a pool. Good value for the money.

Very impressed with all aspects. Splurged on ocean view and our view was outstanding, Second or third floor is the best view by far. Great ammenities and supplies in the room were wonderful. Very nice dishes, silverware, frig, microwave and coffee pot. Enjoyed breakfast on the balcony after awesome sunrises each day. Great location and beautiful grounds. Very small tip...they give you coffee each day as part of the "fee". Good flavor, but weak and only makes 2-3 cups and they charge for additional packets. Bring your own from home. Saw many other hotels, including upscale ones, and the view and proximity was unmatched by far!!

The hotel is nice, but not easy to find. Parking is limited, not enough spaces for the guest.They do nickel and dime you to death. Internet costs extra and the $15.99 per day resort fee is outrageous. Also if you need to print boarding passes, etc, the internet costs. It would be nice if hotels would cut some of the fees and charges off. They make enough money already.There are no elevators to the upper floors so you have to carry your luggage up.

I came back for a second time, because the hotel's location is great when you want to expore the island in every direction and at the same time have a cozy place on the oceanfront. Rooms, service and friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are great; although for a longer stay I wish the room service would do some dusting and mopping in between.

Overall stay was pleasant, however our room had thin walls and we could hear conversations in the room next to us. Also the front desk staff was not present / did not answer the phone after 10pm as we tried to request a wake up call an no one could assist us. One thing we also learned is that being in the heart of Kapaa isn't necessarily a good thing. Traffic is horrendous (took us an hour to travel 2 miles) on weekdays after 4pm and we wasted a lot of time in that. So even though you save a little by staying here I'd probably look somewhere else outside of Kapaa.

This "resort" resembles independently owned condos where the owners may pay a managent fee to the hotel to manage renting their units out. Not sure if this is what's going on or not, but it seems that way. The rooms are nice and spacious with kitchen units. The front desk staff, when we checked in, were rude. This is the only experience we had the entire trip with anyone on the island being rude. Could have just been an off day for her? The pool is tiny and there really are no other "resort" amenities. If you're just planning on sleeping here and not looking for the resort experience, the value is here. It's located next to an activity rental shop, a little grocery market, a couple restaurants and a bar with live music in the evening. If you're looking for valet, help with your luggage, guaranteed parking, activities provided by the resort, staff to answer questions about what to do on the island, a big pool, a gym, etc, there are real resorts in the area with all of those things.

We stayed in and oceanfront third floor unit that was well maintained and comfortable. We enjoin oceanfront units not just for the view, but so that we can keep the door open at night to hear the ocean in it's fully glory. This room did not disappoint. No need for air conditioning in March, just the ocean breezes. Convenient to the low key Coconut Market Place which has a farmers' market on Tuesday and Thursday with the best tropical fruit. Lori at the front desk could not have been more friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were also friendly and communicative, though I would have liked them to have swept the balcony when they cleaned. As others have mentioned, a few more lounge chairs at the beach would be a plus. If this hotel had units with full kitchens we would go back often. Minibar cooking wears thin after a few days. We had no problems with parking, though we did not go out at night and this wasn't the height of tourist season. All in all a quite pleasant stay.

We are long-time visitors to Kauai, and we chose the Islander for its proximity to the areas we like to spend time. It was quiet, clean and everything looked nice. The staff is professional and pleasant. The pool area is nice. The view is unsurpassed. The property has a windward exposure, so beach-goers should be prepared to travel to a different beach area when the wind is up.

My stay here was fine, Nice rooms, although hotel could be updated. I like the fact that the beach was right outside our room.

This is a nice hotel, with a good combination of affordability and the must-have amenities for a solid Kauai vacation (pool & hot tub with bar, beach, activities agent). It is convenient in its Kapaa location and hotel pick up is complimentary for many activities (kayaking and luau, in our case). The grounds are well maintained and attractive. There wouldn't be that much extra to say for one of the interior rooms, I think, but the third floor ocean front room we rented was FABULOUS. Beautiful beautiful views, and there is nothing quite like sleeping on that exceptionally comfortable platform bed with the balcony door open and the ocean's own lullaby! We would definitely return to, and recommend, an ocean front room.

Hotel is a great location about half-way to all the sights and locations that you may want to see visiting the island of Kauai. About 1-2 hours north to Princeville, Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, etc. About 1-2 hours south to Port Allen, Hanapepe, Poipu, etc. We picked this location because we knew we wanted to go all over the island. We stayed January 31st through February 5th. We had 2 different rooms during our stay (due to reservations we made). The first room's air conditioner was permanently ON and therefore our room was about 60 degrees the entire time. We shut it off using the electonic remote control and it was still running full-tilt. Our second room was better temperature wise. The doors to not seal shut and we could see light thorugh the crack of the entry door in our first room (which was on the 1st floor). The decor is blah, has not been updated for over a decade or two. The "queen" beds are double beds, which are very small for 2 people, and my husband and I are very slight build. The lighting in the room and bathroom is dim. The parking at the hotel is VERY limited and we had to get a pass every evening to park off-property and not be towed. The hotel staff is unfriendly and do not welcome you, thank you for your stay, and do not come to the desk when they see you waiting there to ask a question. This happened to us several times. Overall - We would not stay here again. We would stay nearby but had a poor experience at the Aston Islander.

We overall had a great stay at the Aston. Already planning to stay again this fall.

Hotel could use a little updating, but was a nice location on the beach, and beds were comfortable. Parking was not good, not enough spots for the Hotel and had to park block or two away always.

After confirming reservation at least three times, The room booked was occupied when we used our key card! The front desk gave some lame excuse about a double booking? After several minutes of waiting my husband went up and demanded to speak to the Mgr. and requested an upgrade. Seeing other guests registering after us getting their rooms. Originally they said hotel was completely booked and would call around for another hotel opening. Finally they gave us an ocean front room with an excellent view. The squeaky wheel gets results! Their front desk personnel was either new or very inept.

Took many a leisurely morning on patio, watching the sunrise. Grounds meticulously kept, room clean. So VERY pleasant and relaxing. Was good to come to after a busy day w/activities.

Have stayed here for four years now. The only thing we didn't like was the 15.00 daily fee for things we didn't use. (coffee,dvds,paper,internet)

Hotel is certainly a little dated!

Our partial ocean room was on the ground floor and just had a glimpse of the ocean. It was also very close to the laundry room and the supply room, so the surrounding didn't look very inviting. But it turned out to be very convenient, close to parking, laundry and the free DVD machine. The room was good sized and equipped with fridge, microwave and even plates and utensils. It's very convenient for the family. A big bonus was the unlimited DVD rental and game rental.

From O'ahu, enjoyed our vacation on our favorite neighboring island visiting with ohana. Da Aston is located close by and was very nice and quiet. Mahalo fo da kine!

The room was nice (except the -- possibly unavoidable? -- mildewy smell, but the front desk personnel (especially Sue) were fabulous! We stayed only one night, but it was quite nice.

It was wonderful! Great location, decor, views, service! Would stay again and would highly recommend.

Nice to be away from highway and next to ocean. Everything needed to make simple meals.

The accommodation was good and clean. The service was fine without being exceptional - I had no complaints.

Originally I had booked this hotel with an ocean veiw on last day of our holiday because we had a hiking trip planned prior. Unfortunately I broke my ankle and needed a hotel early. I was looking for the lowest cost room possible and Aston Islander was so accomadating and kind to us. They gave us ocean veiw for both nights at the cost of a garden veiw to save us from having to switch rooms. Mahalo to the kind staff at islandersxoxo.

Loved hotel and its amenities. extra fee covers in room wifi and unlimited DVDs rental, games Clean pool towels available from 9 to 9. Room was spotless clean w/ a partial ocean view , woke up everyday with the sunrise. There is no elevators (the lady who did my check in told me about it before handling me the keys). Room is big w/ 2 beds, small fridge no freezer, microwave, toaster, blender, plates, plenty of room to organize your belongings,etc They provide kitchen towel, sponge and detergent. Laundry room w/ 4 washers & 8 dryers. Front desk has change & sell soap and Bouncy sheets . Newspaper available at front desk.The beach is beautiful, there were 2 people snorkling and some surfing. I just took pics because it didn't look too safe for swimming. Front desk people were very friendly and helpful but has limited hours so I check out with the security guy as I was instructed. Parking space is very limit and fill up quickly especially after 8 pm but The security gives you a permit to the overflow parking (at the coconut market) but you have to move you car before 10am. It was not a problem because before 8am you want to leave to explore the island there are a lot of road construction. Farmer's market on Wednesday at the coconut market. Hotel is part of the complex. The grounds are well maintained , one of the buildings (oceanfront) was under construction but Quiet and peaceful at night , the air cond. has remote control so you can turn it off !

This was a nice hotel to stay at, it was located close to a market for shopping and the room was decent. Upon checkin we reserved an ocean view and got upgraded to an ocean front. Yeah, the parking was a little crazy at night, but the security team at the hotel is there to help out with finding a space if you cant find one.

Unfortunately I was only staying overnight. I did not get to take advaantage of what the hotel had to offer

The facility was older but clean. No restaurant, touristy shopping nearby, ocean view was lovely, but parking a real challenge in the evenings, and you need a car to get around.

Beautiful grounds, friendly helpful staff, close to airport and shopping. Very pleasant stay. We would difinately stay at this hotel again.

Pleasant grounds right on the beach. Friendly and attentive staff. Easy access to restaurants and the rest of the town. We were there for only one night, but are keeping it on our list for future (and longer) stays.

We liked the hotel, location, etc. Only thing we weren't pleased with was the additional $10 per day resort fee that is added on at check in and not a part of the advertised room rate.

Because of a Hotels.com deal, I was upgraded to a room with a view of the ocean and beach. The room was excellent, and the front desk service and maintenance staff equally so. Though the hotel did not have a restaurant, the location made it easy to get to a store or restaurant nearby. Even if I didn't get the room upgrade, I would stay at this hotel again.

Had a great stay. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel grounds were well maintained. The room was clean, cool, and comfortable. I wasn't too impressed with the pool area, but it was adequate for a dip to cool off. I had no problem with parking at all. I would stay there again on my next visit to Kaua'i...

I was very pleased with the location and amenities. The shopping center next door offered a convenient place for breakfast and dinner. Two things to keep in mind- 1. No elevators. 2. There is a resort fee, include that in your budget.

The location is good and the rooms fair. Maid service was lousy, parking was terrible and they charge a $10 resort fee, for what - a pool. We were on the 3rd floor and there isnt an elevator. I wouldn't stay here again.

Enjoyed the accomodations. Pleasant and clean. Had an issue with bathroom fan and maintenance staff handled in timely manner. Would book this hotel again.

Good location, next to the beach and easy to get to the north or south shores from. The beach was too rocky for wave play, but the hotel is close to better nearby beaches. The staff was friendly and the room was confortable. Air conditioning is a big plus!
