The Gilmore Hotel - كيتشيكان

If you are in Ketchikan for a fishing or hiking adventure, and looking to not spend a lot on a hotel room, this is your place. There's nothing luxury about the Gilmore but it provides a place to sleep...and that's about all in regard to amenities. The service was very friendly. I have no complaints about the staff or how we were treated. If you go in without high expectations, you should be fine. Don't plan on wanting to spend too much time in the room though. The TV was old and discolored, the showers were TINY and water temperature was extremely inconsistant; it was scalding for one second and freezing the next.

The rooms were OK the bath room was very small. The location was super!

We knew we were staying in a "historic" hotel but chose it anyway for its location downtown. We didn't realize that this meant old and dumpy. The walls were paper thin so you could hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The room was not clean and the daily service consisted of changing towels (which most hotels don't do every day anymore anyway) and soap bars. The bed was not even completely made every day. It was very loud with traffic and people on the street outside the bar downstairs, and cigarette smoke came up from the street into our room. The ladies at the front desk were unhelpful and spacey. Our room "with a view" overlooked the busiest street in town and the "view" was blocked by the tourist trap store across the street. You had to unplug the TV to use the coffee pot.

We stayed in the Gilmore for 2 nights on July 2-3, 2011. The first issue; We were given keys to a room that was already occupied. It was past 11:00 pm and we left a young lady a bit shaken up. Second; The bathroom was teeny tiny. Third; our second room was right above the kitchen. NOISY!! On the positive. (1) They provide a nice continental breakfast in the morning. The gentleman who was keeping things stocked was very nice. (2) Location: Right in the center of town. (3) Shuttle service is provided to and from airport. **Ketchikan has very limited choices when it comes to hotels. It is expensive. I would recommend going to vrbo.com. We found some very nice places at reasonable rates. Unfortunately we had already booked the Gilmore and would have been charged 1 night for canceling. I give the Gilmore 2 1/2 stars.

Not recommend this hotel

The hotel is in a great location, close to all the shops and places to eat.

Nice enough. Could have used a bit of maintenance. I would call the hotel a little tired. I usually stay at the NY Hotel when in Ketchikan, and will do so again next time I am there.
