The rooms were clean, mine was a little old. I saw that done rooms are currently being renovated. Rooms are quite small, but the great location makes up for it. The staff was quite courteous, and the continental breakfast is a huge plus.

I travel A LOT and my rule of thumb is you get what you pay for! So I decided to take my 13 year old to Chicago for one night but had recently just been to 3 states in one week so it was a last minute thing and all the hotels in a good location were ridiculously expensive so I chanced it and booked the holiday inn express ($129). When I got there the staff was amazing they let us check in early, the rooms were spotless and they were in the most perfect location! This is my 4th time to Chicago and I can honestly say that I will never stay anywhere else!!!

Great location! The rooms are not large, but they are well laid out. We did have a bit of trouble with the motion-sensitive temperature control. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Special thanks to our housekeeper Bianca for her excellent service!

Rooms where so small and over priced for the size but all in all not to bad

the hotel was close to the main street and a lot of choices for food but the rooms were extremely uncomfortable and small. I would pay a little more next time and stay somewhere more comfortable where i have space to put my luggage and move. the room was on the 9th floor and it was extremely loud from the city.

Tiny, tiny room, impossible to keep warm, even with the thermostat set at max (80 degrees). Location near hospital was perfect for me. breakfast excellent. Room impossible for two people.

Our stay at the hotel ws great, staff is friendly and hotel is clean. It is real close to shopping area and no need to take a cab. We took the bus to navy pier. Our room was very small but clean and all necessities were in it. This was my second stay at the hotel and I will definitely return on my next trip to Chicago.

Nice updated historic hotel close to everything. Friendly & Helpful staff. Good breakfast to start a day of sightseeing. Tiny rooms - OK if you are sleeping and not spending a lot of time in the room.

Great service. Rooms were perfect just for sleeping. Not a lot of extra space, but enough. Walls were pretty thin. Great location in the city. Would choose to stay there again.

The staff at the hotel was great! They helped us navigate the surrounding area and even gave us coupons for some bars nearby. The room was smaller than expected but worked just fine for the few nights we stayed. The hotel location is great. Close to shopping, downtown attractions and subway. Overall, this hotel is a good value for downtown Chicago.

Convenient location from Red line, easy walk to Northwestern Hospital. Countless options for restaurants and shopping close by.

This is a great location for shopping, restuarants, theatre, etc... The rooms are small because this is an historic hotel that Holiday Inn bought and renovated. The overall value is great.

Cosy and charming, european-style as regards the size of the rooms. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

Just about everything was great excpet the bed was a tad bit smaller than a normal queen. So it made sleeping a little harder with my feet dangling off the bed.

Friendly staff, good American-style casual buffet breakfast, superb value for money, 3 mins to mag mile. Perfect for a short stay. Only negative- not much clothes storage, especially if there's 2+ to a room.

Small room but room is just for sleep and the area was nice and parking close and the price for the room and parking were some of the best of down town.

For a Holiday Inn Express the hotel accomodations were not what I expected. while clean and neat, the room was extremely small and compact. The facility was well maintained for an older building. I just expected for the money to be more like other Holiday inn express rooms,. roomy and comfortable. I felt the cost was a lot higher than what I have paid at other locations for same hotel and with a lot less room.

It was suppose to be two queen beds and they were full size bedsLocation was good and staff was freindly.

Very convenient location. Small hotel with relatively small rooms (mine didn't even have room for a chair in it), but the quality is great. Initially, my hot water was lacking, so they turned up the boiler temperature, and all was great then. Nice breakfast included.

Great price, smiling staff, decent breakfast all for a value price.. good place to stay in Chicago..

This a nice hotel for the price but the rooms are extremely small.....but very clean...

Rooms so small

As a former 10-year Chicago resident and near-monthly traveler back to the city, I generally grab the best deal on a great hotel downtown (Loop or Mag Mile) that I can find on hotels.com. HI-Express Mag Mile might just have finally made me pick a favorite. The location is truly spectacular (a couple of blocks off of Michigan Ave, so you get the proximity without the hassle of all that foot traffic right out the front door; nestled among high rises and Gilded Age mansions; across the street from Trader Joe's and Starbucks and a block up from Pizzeria Due and 2 blocks from Pizzeria Uno...). Service was lovely, attentive, welcoming. Free, full breakfast and 24-hour coffee. Free in-room internet. Yes, the rooms are postage-stamp-y (think Club Quarters), but very cute/mod and well-maintained. The only case where you might pass on this is if you will be spending a lot of time in your room with multiple kids -- maybe then too tight. Otherwise, this is wonderful.

The experience was really good. They were really nice when we checked in and when we checked out. Their phone skills need some major improvement, but that is the only negative thing I found

I have been attending the Chicago dental meetings for 38 yeras and this was my first time at the Holiday Express. The location could not be any more convenient on Wabash near Ontario just two blocks from Michigan Ave. Many great restaurants in the area including Lawry's, Quartino's, Portillo's, Chop House and many more. The rooms are on the small side which was fine by me because I was just looking for a place with a comfortable bed to sleep in. The cleanliness and the helpful staff there makes you feel comfortable like you were at the Ritz. I would definitely stay there again. I realized after arriving back in NY that I had left one of my neck ties there and a call back to the hotel and a gentleman by the name of Fran was so polite helping me tracked down the tie and is shipping it back to me......all without an attitude. This would not happen here in NY.

I enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast is excellent. The location is great because you are close to everything downtown.

Rooms were small but just fine for a quick one night stay. The hotel's service was great, we were very pleased. However, the valet service took quite some time - only downfall.

Great location and very friendly staff. I plan to use this hotel again.

All staff were incredible, from front-desk to housekeeping and door service. The hotel is centrally located and surrounded by everything you could need: the subway, restaurants, bars, shops, grocery stores, and pharmacies. The room was a little small, but all in all it was worth it. I would definitely stay there again.

Great stay. Clean, modest size, great design, great staff, central to all. Would recommend in a heartbeat -- this is the kind of place if look for.

Very small rooms, hotel is also very loud, sound carries easily through hallways.
