BIG room and comfortable bed! But you get what you pay for. This was a nicely laid out hotel, but doesn't have the creature comforts of more expensive hotels. If you want a place with large room and relatively quite area, stay here. But don't expect a good breakfast or flat screen TVs with fancy remotes. The plumbing is a little slow. Not bad for a night or two if you're looking to save some money, though.

The whole building had a subtle smoke stench to it. At night there was loud music coming from the main center hotel area. Everyone does not like the same things.

AC did not work. No cold water out of bathroom sink. Did not get the room we were suppose to get.

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Alabama hotel. It is a nice and comfortable place to stay. plus I felt safe and that was important to me. Room service was great. They kept my room very clean and if I needed any assistance the people at the front desk didn't hesitate to help or assist me. I am looking forward to staying at this hotel on my next trip.

What can I say, you get what you pay for. The hotel is old and needs more renovations ( ie rust on bathroom doors, old tub, matress needs replacing) The staff (particularly the front desk person) was very nice and called to make sure everything in my room was good. I recommend this hotel replace all the furniture, but I did enjoy the 32' flat screen t.v. and my room was very quiet and peaceful. The lobby is beautiful with plants, water fountains and trees. Overall, dont expect an upscale hotel, but this hotel is nice to just spend a weekend.

We had a Jacuzzi Suite with 2 flat screen Tvs, microwave & refrig. Everything worked and it was comfortable. The staff was kind and assistive. We did not get the breakfast area but the fitness center had three old and unattractive pieces. It didn't look "upgraded" but it was a very nice place to be for the weekend. Try it.

We asked for ashtrays, we had a smoking room, never got them in three days. We asked for a coffee pot and it took them 2 days to get us one. The TV had channels blocked and they did not know how to unblock them.

This historical city offers so much- Old Alabama town, State Bldg's- Union Stn- MlKingjr church/home-FScott fitzgerald-Rosa Parks- Freedom riders- and the S White House: what a great introduction from the Old Grandeur ( & still in pretty good shape and getting better) of the Giant skylighted, Jucuzzi provided rooms of the Alabama- we've traveled from BC Canada and stayed in hotels 21 nights- none better- and we got the 2 for 1 price to boot: -don't expect the Ritz- but great value with wonderful character- can't beat it. frank d

I guess it was a decent hotel long long time ago, I chose it because it was 2-star motel and big size room along with good price. (last minute sale) HOWEVER, one star is well enough fit for current condition of this hotel.Very run down and the room is big, but not clean.

I was over from England visiting a friend in Montgomery and came across a great ast minute deal for the Alabama Hotel. I didn't know anything about the area, but it looked nice enough so I went for it! I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very interested in where I was from and ingaged in a conversation. He then informed me all about the hotel and where my room was. The lobby area was very soothing and had an almost 'ZEN' feel to it! My room had a Kingsize bed, along with a sofa bed, sitting area, dressing room and bathroom. I was more than happy with the cleanlness of it and it was cleaned to that standard each day. Breakfast was complimentary and satisfactory. There was a pool area, but I didn't use it, unfortunately! I had use of a car so that was fine, as downtown was just a 15 minute drive away, if that. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will definitely return on my next visit!

Easy to tell that theyre trying to restore this place.....but its too far gone. Found an insect in the bed,One picture was hanging from the wall,very old fixtures .....the whole place is just OLD and smells OLD. The tv was the only good thing i saw here. Going rate here should be $25....with a LATE check out!

Thank you Hotel.com for finding me such a good Hotel, It was good stay I am very happy, room was very spacious had microwave n freez which I was looking for, TV was big and it was flat screen.I enjoyed it overall good value to the money we spent. Nice Hotel, Nice friendly Staff..........

This hotel has alot of potential to be really nice, but it needs some major renovations. It is very dated. The only recent furnishing was a nice flat screen TV. My room was large and comfortable, but not properly cleaned. Windows had handprints and smudges and curtains had splatters of some sort on them. The room had a musty smell, kind of like mold. If they would replace the carpet, the smell would probably go away. Staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. It was a decent room for the price I paid, but I'll try someplace else next trip.

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS HOTEL I DONT KNOW HOW THEY GOT FOUR STARS THEY REALLY NEED TO REGROUP, THE TOWELS WAS DINGE THE DRESSER DRAWER WAS FALLING OFF AND THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS NOT FIT FOR A HOMELESS PERSON AND THE DRAPES WAS ALL SPOTTED UP THE LOBBY WAS NICE

First the good things! It is a very beautiful hotel. The 3-story atrium court in the center with all its towering tropical foliage, fountains and gardens is breathtaking. The desk people are friendly and gracious. The bed was luxuriously comfortable. The floorplan of the suite was great. The bad: It took 2 tries to get enough wash cloths and towels. The pool was dirty. We returned one afternoon around 3:00 after a tiring go with the grandkids to find our room had not yet been cleaned. The complimentary breakfast did have good orange juice, but nothing else but cereal and bad coffee. Even that was not available for the entire posted times. Although the room contained all the usual amenities, it was falling into disrepair. Examples are the center dresser drawer which apparently lacked runners, and some sort of seepage in the bathroom that kept the bathmat soaking wet even before bathing.

If the proce wasn't so good at the time of booking, we never would have stayed here! The toilet seat was broken, mold/mildew on the the floor tiles and around the bases in the bathroom. Towels were rough and cheap. (Painful taking a shower!) Noisy early in the morning (good thing we were leaving that day!). The pool was dirty and GREEN! No filter had been running for some time! There was no 'fitness room' available. No WIFI...The so-called 'continental breakfast' consisted of BAD watery coffee that wasn't even hot, watered down juice, stale 'danish' and stale ceral selection--with NO MILK available!! (It was empty at 7:30 and no one at the desk to refill....the desk people disappeared regularly! Staff at checkin was polite and friendly....parking was fine....good location for the business we were on. That is about all the positive things I can say. We will choose the Comfort Inn next door....IF we ever come back to the area! NOT the Alabama Hotel!

After reading several reviews about new management and renovations at the Alabama Hotel, I thought I would give it a try. It seemed like it would be an acceptable choice for a convenient and inexpensive place to stay for the 6 hours I had to spend in Montgomery en route to the Florida coast. My first experience with the hotel was the torn entrance carpet and a broken lobby door that loudly slammed shut when released. Luckily all my extremities were still intact. Hotel clerk was pleasant enough and check in was uneventful. The whole place was a bit stale smelling including the elevator to my 3rd floor room. The musty stale trend continued into the room as the A/C was turned off. Furnishings were old and lamp stand corroded. Paint splatters and a broken sink drain were both just icing on the cake. The mattress was sunken and uncomfortable. On a positive note, the shower had a new shower head with good strong flow and was clean. I did arrive after midnight so maybe they reserved their lesser quality rooms for the late arrivals. Bottom line here, you get what you pay for. I just wish I had stayed at the newer place next door for a few dollars more.

Nice hotel and excellent price. Very clean. Will definitely stay here again.

Clerk ran my credit card at check in even though I showed him my receipt. Did not have the room we requested. Initial room we went to had the heater on high, dirty towels laying around, the TV on super loud and the bed was used. Front desk stated they were busy the night before and had assumed this room had been cleaned. Coffee was horrible in the room, door handle broken on the bathroom and generally the whole room looked slimy. There was a country band playing in the lounge and they could be heard all over the hotel until just after midnight. No way to have a quiet evening anyway as other guests were allowed to let their children run all over the lobby screaming at the top of their lungs. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again, EVER.
