Been there many Times, love the place, but on this stay the drain of our bathtub was clogged we could use our shower or tub. And they couldn't fix it right away. It was unfortunate.

The hotel is quiet and very practice to visit LA

I loved this old hotel with all it's charm. It was easy to get around to what we wanted to see. Like Universal studios, CBS, and the Farmers Market. The hotel just made me smile. It was clean and charming.

Firstly before we arrived the day prior, we rang to ensure we could leave our 2 suitcases before checkin which was 3pm. Were advised no problem. When we arrived which was about 1pm, were told no we couldn't leave suitcases, the room was full. The lady was very unhelpful said come back at 3pm as no early checkins. We wanted to leave our cases before we had to return rental car. We held onto the car, came back at 2.45 told to come back in 10 minutes, returned and waited until 3.45 for checkin (by that time the other lady had finished her shift and we found out the luggage bay was not full, seems she just didn't want to do checkins !) When we returned the car were charged extra $42 .. Very unhappy. The hotel room and the hotel do not really look like the photo's. Bed was relatively comfortable, the rest of the room is fairly old - especially the bathroom. The tap on the shower doesn't work properly. The in-house guide to the hotel is nonexistant except for the takeaway menus (hotel has no food - except for breakfast, which was quite good). Overall I would not stay at this hotel again which was a bit disappointing as we were looking forward to the stay. the hotel location to the train station was good - but I am sure there are other better hotels close to transport you can stay at. Sorry hollywood hotel but you didn't impress

We stayed at the Hollywood Hotel for 1 week. The longer we were there, the more I liked it. The location was perfect for us - I had a 2 day conference at LA Children's Hospital, which was within walking distance, and we were also visiting my daughter, whose apartment was only 10 minutes away. Walking straight up Vermont the area was lively at night, with several good restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.

Was nice and clean and the breakfast was nice too.

This was a good hotel with a great rate for LA. The lobby and room were both clean and above average. The only thing that bothered me was the slow wireless internet and lack of restaurants or attractions close by. Metro or bus are needed to get anywhere in the city. Next time I will stay at a more exciting area. I would have given the hotel 4 stars if it had better internet or location

The room was rather small but the bed was comfortable and everything worked. The breakfasts were really very good.

The room was just OK. The air conditioning was bad. you couldnt control it from the room and front desk had no control either. but if you visit in the winter you should be fine.

The rate was lower than other hotels and it was only a 5 min $1.50 subway ride to Hollywood and a few minutes more to downtown LA. Breakfast buffet (incl in our nightly rate) was delicious and a great way to start each day. Pool was clean. Service from staff was a bit slow on occasion.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We did not expect much after the rates being so cheap. On the outside it does look small and did not quite resemble the pictures. We were also a little unsure about the location to begin, it doesn't look like the friendliest of neighbourhoods at night. Having said that the staff were SO helpful and friendly pointing out all the good shopping centres and eating spots and organising our day trips for us. The room was very clean and comfortable and offered free wi-fi. This small hotel definately out shone the very 'ritzy' hotel we stayed in at Vegas. Would definately go back and would definately recommend.

Ill keep this simple. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast staff were European and only interested in a grade service to other Europeans. But everyone else was amazing and very helpful

A nice comfortable hotel with a good size room. Lovely comfy big bed also the convenience of afridge & microwave. Nice breakfast provided with omlettes & waffles cooked to order.

Compared to the hotels in LA, the Hollywood hotel was an amazing hotel experience for people with high expectations and low budget. The parking is very secured and safe. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is very clean and good service. Breakfasts are also good , could be a little better but over all good. Very convenient and Safe location. Would recommend to others.

Good hotel, free breakfast. Not a five star but help to keep us within our travel budget. Great restaraunts five minutes north. Because of marble floors in corrridors (first floor) the sound echos in the hallway. Nice warm breakfasts, could have more fruit in buffet. Friendly and helpfull desk.

This hotel is conventantly located to the metro. Was very clean and quite. Walked to Wendys after dark with no issues.

Hollywood hotel in Hollywood - allows dogs in rooms! Helpful front desk staff, good breakfast provided.

The room was large but needed overall spruce up. Breakfast staff was rude and limited to one omelet per person and would not let me take coffee mug to the room, Picture of hotel on website is from parking lot that is nicely gated but rather expensive. We were on the street side so we faced the parking lot attendant and heard all the loud street traffic. Amenities promised were not received site on Hotel.com said shuttle service to Universal studios which was one of the deciding factors for choosing this hotel but when we arrived they said was only available if tickets where purchased thru their provider. I would not stay there again. Very disappointed.

Overall, we are quite satisfied, staff are very couteous and grateful. Location is close to all major LA tourist points.

Driving up pictures online portray a much nicer hotel than it actually is. When I checked in I was given a room that already had occupants in it- how embarrasing it was when I opened the door to find people already settled in the room. Then I checked my bank account, only to find out I had been charged 3x's the amount for parking and my deposit. Got it straightened out-but I shouldn't have had to since I was on my vacation. Next, the first morning I was there the maid opened the door four times without knocking - trying to clean the room. I would have put out a do not disturb sign but one was not provided. The hotel was very clean -I'll give it that.

My sister and I stayed here between 19th - 24th March and very much enjoyed our stay. The staff on reception were lovely and very helpful, we frequently asked them where things were and how to get there and they always had an answer. On arrival we saw cleaners steaming the carpets of rooms that were vacant. Our room was cleaned every day, with beds made and toiletries replaced. The free breakfast was great, eggs made to order and fresh waffles, sausages, bagels, toast and cereal. The fruit wasn't exactly plentiful so we just went with the less healthy options. A free breakfast can hardly be complained at. Our room was great, the beds were comfortable. The metro train and bus stops are literally a 3 minute walk, max, from the hotel. And Holywood Boulevard is about 4 stops, 10 mins away. Absolutely fine during the day, a little more unnerving at night but we're 2 young girls and we had no real problems so as long as you're careful and just keep yourself to yourself there's really no issue. Our only problem with the hotel was the fact that it's all on one heating/air con system and as it was only March we found our room to be a little bit too cold at night. However we just went down to the front desk and asked them to switch off the airflow into our room which helped a bit. Don't bother trying to change the thermostat in your room, it doesn't do anything. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at The Hollywood Hotel.

We had a great stay. The room was comfy, breakfast was free and actually really good. The staff was friendly. The bar downstairs had open mic comedy every night and was really funny. Just remember it costs $20 per night for parking in the hotels private lot.

The hotel would have been better had the elevators and the hot water heater not broken. We had no hot water for most of the day. The staff were very nice until we asked about the hot water and were told that we could check out if it was a problem. Location in downtown Hollywood so not the best.

This was my only hotel experience where the desk clerk could not check me in before check in time. I arrived at 2:30, check in at 3:00. Every other hotel would pre-check and ask me to come back to pick up the key. The hotel desk clerk said it was impossible for her to check me in before 3 pm. I think their computer system and/or procedures need to be reevaluated. The hotel inside is very nice - well maintained and clean. The full breakfast buffet is excellent. Location is not very convenient to Hollywood sights and is not attractive. You really need a car to get around to the major tourist areas. Overall, great value for the money, very nice facilities, so-so location, excellent breakfast included, and don't try to check in early. Have fun!

* No hot water and elevator service due to electrical problem * Public areas in the hotel look fine but hotel room is not well maintained. E.g., fallen paint on doors, large crack off the bathroom counter, barely functioning bathroom door knob etc * Front desk stubborn and not being considerate

Wonderful clean hotel. Very responsive Front Desk personnel. Off the chart friendliness that you can only find in Hawaii's best. But here in LA? Wow. Great complimentary breakfast. Very conveniently located to Hollywood.

My two daughters and I took a weekend break to check out the Hollywood strip and the best price available for a 3 star hotel located near Hollywood was the Hollywood Hotel. It's located near the freeway and a straight drive to the Hollywood strip and Beverly Hills Mall. Plenty of places to eat near and around the hotel. We got there early and tried to check in but the rooms were not ready yet which was no big deal. The front desk was very professional and pleasant. So to kill some time the kids and I walked down the street for a bite to eat. Once we return we were able to check in to our room. The room was clean and comfortable for a older hotel. Nothing about it said wow this is great or wow this really sucks. It's just an average room at an average hotel. Which was perfect for us, all we needed was a comfortable/affordable place to stay the night. On the morning of the check out to our unfortunate surprise there was no hot water in the entire building and since we were on a tight schedule we couldn't wait around for it to be fixed. We made the best of it and got ready the best we could considering the circumstances. I went to check out and they apologized for not having hot water and they waived my $18 parking fee for the inconvenience. If I made another trip to Hollywood I would definitely try another hotel, not because I hated this one because I didn't but I like trying new places and finding those really hidden deals at amazing places.

Average but you pay for what you get, felt a bit out of place being white walking south off the neighbourhood but trains and busses where easy and no problems! Overall average rating as day we checked out water was not working and when we checked in there was a bag of mouldy rubbish in the cupboard!

If you want to access the internet, don't book this hotel. The free "WI-Fi" was so slow, it was worse than dial-up. When I went to get water from the vending machine, it was all sold out. I went to the front desk to ask for water and was told "did you check the other floors". The service wasn't that good; however, the hotel was clean and nicely decorated.

My review is mixed although I genuinely enjoyed my stay and I would stay there again. The complimentary breakfast was pretty bad and they wouldn't let me take my mug of coffee up to my room (and actually acted as if I was stealing it which was a little surprising.) The staff was a bit rude in this way and I wonder if that has something to do with the neighborhood it was in which was not that nice. The hotel lobby and private parking was beautiful. The rooms were outdated, but mostly clean. There was some blood stains on my bed skirt. The shower was nice and the fridge in the room was an extra I didn't expect. My favorite part was the courtyard which was a delight to have coffee in (once I was allowed to take a to go cup out of the diner) The sauna was locked and I could not get in. The little gift shop was nice and had stamps and postcards you could send from the lobby. Overall it was mixed. For the price it was pretty nice!

The hotel is not in a best location. But still felt safe. It also has a gated parking lot. Which is a plus. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. My only negative comment was during breakfast. They give you free breakfast and it say all you can eat. But it doesn't work like that and the two older ladies that make your omelets are really rude. So make sure you have your ticket so you could get served. But other than the price is cheap. And you get what you pay for.

We had a couple of situations while staying here. One, there was a party going on in the room next to us. It was very late and there was much laughing and yelling going on. I called the front desk and it got quite within ten minutes. Second, it got very hot in our room, when I called the front desk, they expalined the heating/air system to me which I never heard of for a hotel, since the system was not able to cool us they brought to our room a very large fan which cooled us to satisfaction. This hotel is definitely one who wants to satisfy their guest! I plan on staying there again during my next visit to the area!

Great Hotel!

The heater was busted, I mean really busted up. The ladies of night where all out and being corrected by there bosses all night long. The line for the HIV clinics and the OBGYN where out the door. The WIFI was at .012kps, not even enough for text reading. Parking is $$$ a night... ontop of the room fees. if it was valet that would be fine. it was not Please stay away and find a nicer spot...

I was going to give this place a better rating but the service was so horrible I had to have a cigarette at 9am and I don't even smoke. You wouldn't think at you'd have to deal with the staff that often, but you! The women cooking breakfast think they are gods and treat you like little pieces of dirt. Front desk rude as all hell. I hate it here, . Hate Will never stay here again just because the service. That bad. Serenity now, serenity now.

Located remorte area, hotel lools like an old retirement building that has transformed to a hotel.Food kvallity low compared to USA standard. Not properly clean escpecialy in open areas. Poor acces to internet.
