Could do with thicker walls. But still a nice hotel room.

Great Location.Internet in the guest rooms has intermittent coverage. However, internet in lobby works great. Good value.

hotel was great in every way. We could walk to many destinations and the area was interesting. Good spot.

The staff was awesome. It was close enough to walk to all the interesting places but far enough away so i could see interesting things along the way.

i stayed at the hotel on 03/2012 and enjoyed every minute. we got value for every euro we paid: the room was big enough, with free Wi-Fi. the staff helped us a lot and allways with a smile. The location of the hotel was better than we could have hoped - 1 minute walk from the metro station that reaches to everywhere and if we wanted to walk - it's just 15 minutes walk from all the central places. If you want a good hotel in a very economical price - I trully recommend Hotel Gran Versalles.

Stayed in this hotel in march 2012 and would stay again in the future.

Close to the metro, rooms are clean, a bit dated but other than that was an enjoyable stay.

value for money. compare to other hotels it was 40% cheaper. and free wi-fi. quite close (10-15 min walk) to the center & METRO. easy ride from the airport. the 4 stars had better days.... but that it is why it is reflected in the price...

Nice hotel, conveniently located not far from the main attractions, with the metro near by, very polite and helpful staff.

We reserved three rooms at this hotel for our family trip to Spain and everyone was very happy with the choice. The neighborhood is quiet, but just a few yards away from a major road, plaza and access to metro, so getting to the more active areas is very easy. There's very good restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping nearby. It's true that the walls are very thin but the noise has to be loud in order to hear it through the walls - my parents were in the room next to us and I could hear my dad coughing at night, but that's about it, no talking our TV noise. My only annoyance was that there was construction and renovation inside the hotel while we were there, but they were considerate enough not to begin work until later in the morning and ended early in the evening. It was still annoying to try and sleep in and have to wake up to pounding and drilling. However, this did not ruin the stay and I would still highly recommend this hotel. Finally, the staff was very friendly and professional.

Overall solid hotel however had a problem getting fed one night late after midnight after traveling up from Sevilla on Renfe. I had late meal service available at the VIPs near my other hotel near Pza. Espana on the front end of my trip so this "trained" for up to 3AM there but not in Gran Versalles part of town even on weekends. Go figure. Heard it is even worse in England. Room very clean and comfy although I had to change rooms the 2nd day as the new occupant next to me making some really strange noises over and over. Thank you very much Gran Versalles for allowing me to change my room. Otherwise would have been an unpleasant stay.

Take the breakfast for 10 EU, it's the best value in the area. The desk also sells one and two tour bus tickets that take you , everywhere you need to go. The two day was about 25 EU.

Comfortable hotel, and a good weekend deal, but really a business mans hotel. No tea/coffee in room, and breakfast good but not included in price. convenient for main sights.

Lovely hotel. High standard rooms, toiletries,bathroom. Reasonable prices for fridge and food in room. breakfast reasonable price@€9.very well located & close to metro. Only negatives Walls a bit thin and most(not all) staff could be a lit friendlier with very little effort! Would definitely stay again if in Madrid and would recommend.

This hotel is very well located and very comfortable. Staff were excellent and the breakfast very good. Only problem is car parking which was €26 per night, an alternative for €21 was available. I would highly recommend this hotel and is was inexpensive.

Had an enjoyable stay in this hotel - location was good, staff were helpful, room was good. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Would recommend that my friends stay here.

I really can't say enough about our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, & the complimentary breakfasts amazing. It's in an "out of the way" part of town that is relatively quiet but with the metro just steps away, everything is easy to get to. The airline lost our luggage and the desk staff was very concerned and helpful, monitoring the website for updates. Our room was also very clean & well maintained. The only drawback is that a "double" is 2 twin beds pushed together but made separately (not the end of the world). We stayed 4 nights & feel it was an excellent value for the price.

Expected a bit more after I read the reviews. Positives - great location, nice and clean rooms, easy check out. Needs Improvement - Service could have been better, some of the staff were helpful, others were not that bothered. breakfast food was not that great. breakfast staff were quite rude to us when we were told to sit anywhere and then another waitress rudley told us to move tables

1 minute local call cost me 4 Euros!!!!

straight forward receptionists, apples are provided at reception! good price / quality relation, double bed room i had on the first floor ist very quiet and spacious except for the bathroom where the toilet is quite close to the tube. big bed a little too firm or hard for me but very ok. the safe is very good

Gran Varsalles was not the chosen Hotel but recommended by Hotel.com support when our first choice was not available. It was comforting when we arrived to find 2 excellent rooms and and very helpful staff although our Spanish was limited they were able to help with all our questions. Additional nice extras were the bathroom stock of small accessories eg: Razor, toothpaste, cotton buds. Location was excellent for ourselves as it appears to be in the commercial area of Madrid and it felt very safe at night with lots of people about. The tourist and shopping areas would have been too noisey at night. Room safe worked without any problems and a well stocked room bar. The only bitter taste was that on leaving I was charged for a Madrid phone call which I had attempted to make but received no answer. This seems to be getting a very common practice with London Hotels also that you pay for picking up the phone and dialing. However, this was only a small amount and because of the excellent service was not an issue I wanted to persue. I would recommend this hotel for its comfort, cleanliness, courtesy of staff and value for money.

Good location, good value. Pleasant staff, Rooms very clean, comfortable. Mini Bar and Aircondition much appreciated.

This was a reasonably priced hotel a short walk from the Alonso Martinez metro, and within walking distance (20 minutes) of several major attractions in central Madrid, as well as restaurants and shopping. Our room looked into a courtyard and was very quiet. Bathroom and furnishings were modern and functional. Breakfast was 10 euros and was very good. Staff was very courteous and tried to be helpful. Weaknesses: - we stayed on the non-smoking floor. We tried two rooms, but both had strong odors. In one room it was because people had smoked (not the hotel's fault.) In the other, it seemed to be more a mildew odor caused by water being tracked from the bathroom into the main room. Fortunately, the windows opened, so we could air out the room. The carpets should be replaced. - it was hot - 37 C - during our visit, and the air conditioning couldn't keep up. Fortunately, Madrid cools off at night so we just kept the window open. - none of the staff seemed to know about local restaurants, and the one recommendation they gave us was bad. They need to put together a list of restaurants and a map.

In the heat of summer, rooms were cool even without air conditioning. Easy access to business district and lovely restaurants. Fantastic breakfast selection. Would definitely use again. Excellent value for money.

Convenient location close to metro and the wonderful neighborhood of Chueca. I arrived and the lobby stank of recent cigarettes. The man behind the desk was not very friendly. When I asked how much the breakfast was, his response was "you didnt pay for it"...well that's why I asked?! Got to the room, decent size. There was hair in the bathtub and on the fuzzy blanket (I noticed the maid's cart didn't have the fuzzy blanket so they probably do not change it between guests?). The window opens to a view of the next building. Walls are paper thin, be prepared to hear toilet flushing constantly and other people's televisions. Well stocked room fridge and provided toiletries. Overall a disappointment.

Very good hotel, in plaza Alonso Martinez, subway station right there, also a 5 minute walk from Plaza Colon. Good restaurants, cafes all around; excellent service, available internet. Did not try the hotel bar or restaurant. Reasonable price. No drawbacks, really.

The exterior of the hotel matches the 19th century architecture of this area of Madrid (about 3km north of city center) but the interior is quite modern, including the rooms and amenities. Liked the fact that the hotel has a Tapas bar and a restaurant. The sandwiches in the bar were great. Although some floors are designated as non-smoking, we felt air quality of air conditioning needed some cleaning up. But room windows open, and we slept with fresh air and the AC turned off. Bathroom and towels were very clean, didn't have to use our own towels. Room nicely appointed. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.

Good hotel close to metro and only two stops to old Madrid & Palace. Good bars and food close by but quite at night so good nights rest.

I stayed here with my fiancee for two nights. The hotel is very close to the Alonso Martinez metro, and you can easily walk to the big 3 museums (Prado, Thyssien, and Reina Sofia. They're about a mile or so away). The room was clean and the bed was two twins pushed together to make a King, but that's very common in Europe, especially Spain and Portugal. Hotel staff was friendly and spoke English. The decor is not fancy and the hotel restaurant looked a bit cafeteria-like but we weren't expecting the Ritz. Solid location, clean room, good service.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for two nights mid May 2011, we booked room only. We found the hotel reception staff very helpful and friendly and they spoke good English and were able to help with all our enquiries. We had a kingsize bedroom and we asked for the non smoking floor which was floor 3, the room was comfortable and clean and although the room faced into the street we had no problem with outside noise and traffic.

This was an awesome property.. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. One of the cleanest and quietest with the largest rooms Ive had in Europe. It is very close to the metro for easy airport connections, lots of restaurants nearby along with a large grocery behind the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Its in a perfect location in Madrid, close to everything. A great value for the money!

I liked this hotel. The front desk people were very nice, btu the room was small for a four star hotel. Funny story: I tried to get room service at 11:05pm on Thursday night. when I called, the persopn told me that room service closed at 11:00pm, so I missed them. I tried again on Friday night at 10:30pm, thinking I could make my request before 11:00pm. On this call, the person said they were closed again. I asked wen they closed. They reply: 10:30pm. Why would they close at 10:30pm on a Friday andn 11:00pm on Thursday. Something here is awry. There is no hotel informatino in the rooms, so no answers were to be found there. Great location...but this really only qualifies in my estimation as a 3-star hotel.

The staff gave us numbers for reporting stolen credit cards and later, tips for a great restaurant in the area. Free internet in the lobby. We walked to many popular tourist areas. We'd choose the Versailles again if staying in Madrid.

The hotel is a no frills kind of place. My room was totally dark with one window facing the middle of the building. The internet would go in and out at all hours but when it was up it was extremely slow. If you're on a very tight budget you could probably do worse however i was very unimpressed with the offering of this place.

very convenient location. The etro was 30 seconds away. Very close to Gran Via . Plaza Santa Ana was a little bit further but still within walking distance (about 15 minute walk thru a nice neighborhood).
