First of all - the Hotels.com reservation number does not mach the check in number at the hotel!!! Want to pay more - want full service - go somewhere else! But if you want a simple modern and clean hotel room smack in the middle of Bruxelles this is it. Book online, check in at the automat - pretty simple. There is always staff available to help you, even thought there are no recption. The rooms are ok by size, but thre is only a bed, an impossible plastic chair, a terrible flipsy flapsy computer working table, a TV, a bathroom, a bed, towels and a bar of soap - thats it! If f you want less cleaning service you can save some money, if you want internet, more cleaning of something else this can be bought along with food etc. at the automats at first floor. You get what you pay for - and that is pretty fair. We stayed here for a break off April 2012. We needed a good clean room in the centre of Bruxelles/Brussels and that is what we got. No complaints what so ever. Very polite and help full staff, very tidy and clean rooms. Only thing we missed was 2 good chairs and a desent table.

Very Clean and Very Central too, about 3 minute walk from Rogier Metro Station. This was given 1 Star only but easily 2 Star. Room functional if you only want somewhere to sleep, just 1 stool to sit on, if you are looking to spend any time in room then chose somewhere else. Snack machines have sandwiches which is a nice touch....Would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget in Brussels.

Central location combined with price make this a great bargain. It is rated at 1 star but was much cleaner and bigger than the 3 star I stayed in the night before in Paris. At check in I had to get the Hotel's booking code from the woman at the "front desk" because the kiosk didn't recognize the one from hotels.com. After that it was a breeze. There were towels and bedding for one. To get wifi access (€5) and an extra pillow (€1) I went down to the first floor where vending machines vended just about everything you could need including TV access, snacks, beverages and umbrellas. I was on the second floor facing the main street and found the room well insulated from the noisy street below. A small but very modern bathroom with large shower head hanging from the ceiling had one bar of soap so be prepared. Overall a great budget hotel, good for a day or two.

This hotel did not have people working in it. you had to check yourself in at a kiosk and figure everything out for yourself. room service had to be bought from a vending machine. with out hotel staff there was no one to ask questions to or ask for help. As this is a great idea to keep costs down, it would be very acceptable at a cheap hotel, however Max hotel was not cheap enough to warrant this lack of customer service.

Though the bed was hard and the pillows pathetic, the location was perfect, the staff extremely helpful with dining ideas and everything was VERY clean. Inexpensive, no frills, and worth the price.

NO TV AND INTERNET AVAILABLE WHEN I ARRIVE (ROUTER PB). BUT THE WORST : THE ROOM WAS VERY COLD. I ASK FOR A SECOND COVER ....THIS WAS AN EXTRA I HAD TO PAY! NO PRESSURE FOR THE SHOWER.... REALLY NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE

The idea is of an high tech economy hotel is great. However the automated check did not work - fortunately a very helpful staff was at hand. The same with with the checkout - the final bill never printed nor arrived by email. The room is basic but large - just two hangers - takes some with you. However modern and clean. A huge problem is noise of the air conditioning. even when switched of it is no noisy, that sleeping is virtually impossible. English unfriendly - The only French, everything English paid extra. Now shampoo provided, just a very small piece of soup. The water pressure is insufficient (it was 4th floor) and when the neighbour starts shower the temperature of hardly leaking however oscillates. The hotel needs substantial tuning to be acceptable.

I am an Asian girl, 5'2, 103 lbs, not too big, but I still feel very uncomfortable in the small narrow bed.

Not much to say but that the hotel is perfect, clean, good area close to everything. Rooms are quiet and very comfortable. I would recommend to stay there on a visit to Brussels. The price is excellent for what you get.

We stayed three nights, were greeted by very friendly helpful staff that assisted us with the self check in, Room was ready and found to be spacious and very clean. Only glitch was with the wifi, which you pay for, it required resetting three time, no compensation for down time. Check out was again self and went without a hitch. Parking is on street and at a premium, parkades are located within easy waalking distance but are very expensive.

this hotel has a " new concept" which means there is no human being to receive you. Of course someone can still open the door, but you need to do everything by yourself. the room had a minimum of comfort, I could not even use the TV set. Hotel business is based on human relation and service, I felt I was living in a machine, a DIY hotel.

For a single night's stay this hotel was okay, clean, central and pleasant staff. But don't expect any free extras. The windows don't open which I did not like. Not sure I would stay again.

I read many reviews about this place before booking it, and most of them were all positive apart from few complaining about the lack of staff and the automated service. All I can say is, if you want to stay in a place to stay in the room all day, order room service and have a bellboy running to do things for you, this is not your place. This is for people who want to enjoy the city and have a nice, safe and clean place to sleep. Location: great, could not complain, about 10 mins walk from grand place and with loads of shops around. Room: Clean and much bigger that I thought it would be. Hotel: Clean all around, vending machines are there for an emergency buy, but you have loads of shops around to choose from. the automated check-in/check-out works perfectly, and there is always someone by the entrance to help you if you are in doubt. tip: you will need your passport for the check in, u will need to insert it partially in the scanner to have your details on the system, you will also have to sign in a digital pad. Again, in doubt, there will be someone there to help. As the check in is only at 15:00, and we got there 10:00, we went to the hotel anyway and left out luggages on the locker in the 1st floor, you will need a 2 euros coin for that, and you wont get it back. i will definitely stay there again and I hope this sort of hotels spread across europe, cos the comfort, security, great location and cleanness that it offers cannot be found anywhere for the same price.

Loved this hotel! Dont pay attention to the negitive comments. The hotel was in a perfect and safe location and close to eveything. Loved the decor and how clean it was... We even took pictures to show friends. I travel a lot and Max hotel was a great find. This hotel need to be more that a one star!

You get all your basic needs satisfied for an overnight stay and save a few bucks. It's true they charge for all the extras, but it's not expensive, plus I think that's only frustrating if you don't expect it, so here's your warning. It was great to be at waking distance from the train station (Gare du nord) and also to one of the main commercial pedestrian streets (Rue Neuve) that takes you straight to the Grand Place walking about 15 min. Only thing, regarding the self check in, your Hotels.com confirmation number doesn't work. in our case, there was a person from the staff to help promptly, but in case you're arriving late at night I would recommend contacting the hotel ahead of time and getting the reservation number they have on their system to avoid any potential problems.

The property seems to be newly renovated. I just stayed there for a night, and I found the place to be conveniently located near Rogier metro station (take Adolphe Max road exit from the station). The bed was comfortable and the sheets were white and clean. In the bathroom, sink was small but it was clean and there were fresh towels. In the night it was quiet but I could hear slight hum of the traffic but it was not bothersome, since the glass panel window is sealed and it cannot be opened (I was on the second floor).

Not really a hotel. The "hotel" has between 0 and 1 members of staff on duty depending on the time of day. Everything is automated and little things are extra, like on easyjet. A place to stay but not much else. Better value elsewhere in Brussels.

I got a spotlessly clean, well-maintained, bright, quiet room with a TV and attached shower and toilet. This hotel has eliminated staff by automating check in and providing vending machines from which you can get everything from food to wifi cards for your room. This allows them to keep their rates low. Of course, there is a person on hand to help you out just in case. And it's just three minutes walk from the metro.

Absolutely no complaints whatsoever with this hotel. The staff couldn't do any more for us, they were so polite and helpful! Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and would certainly stay here again. Rooms were spotless and everything was working perfect- good size shower too. Very comfortable bed and the sheets were changed daily. I don't know why this hotel only has 1 star because it's worth at least 3 if you ask me

Room was very simple with a bed a chair and small roller desk. No safe. Clean and had a great location. Would stay there again.

Okay..... the neighbourhood is not the best, but the Maxhotel is new, with spacious rooms and good comfortable beds. The price/value ratio is absolutely unique for Brussels and if you want a good low thrill stay, book it.....

Nice room and location but the hotel charges for everything: tv, internet, luggage accommodation, breakfast, everything... really annoying...

5 minutes walk to the red light district, sex shops surround the hotel, staff were incredibly unfriendly and unwilling to help us, you have to pay for everything that you want extra's of (i.e. towels, comforters, pillows), things like food, drinks and extra's had to be bought out of a vending machine, had to check in by electronic booths (similar to the online check in kiosks in the airport) using your reservation number through maxhotel, which was not the same as the reservation number given to us by our booking agent. On top of all this, we had 4 people standing outside our bedroom door trying to figure out whether or not they could give us an extra sheet. We had bought a 4€ comforter when all we wanted was a sheet. The 3 cleaning ladies and the 1 "concierge" all came up to our room to ask us why we needed the extra sheet. Eventually, it got so bad, that we had to leave the hotel 1 day before our stay. When we checked out, the "concierge" was not in the least bit concerned with why we were leaving early. Also, there were lots of small hairs all on our bed sheet. All in all, this hotel was not worth the hassle. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone I know who is looking to travel to Brussels.

Pluses: - Cheap place. - Great location. - Close to train station. Minuses: - Very cramped shower.

This was a decent hotel considering the area the only complaint is that its not made clear that you need to purchase additional item such as extra pillows, a blanket etc by using the vending macgines and dropping the card off to the front desk. I didnt mind based on the fact we were only in Brussels for 2 days and was cheaper than a hostel but this seems more like a hotel for some young people who want to spend the night partying and just need a place to crash. It was clean and very modern inside it had several vending machines where you can buy drinks food and the cards for things like wi-fi and TV etc. Not bad but not super either, ok for price if needed for a quick place to stay for maybe 1 night max.

Conviently located and inexpensive but very small single rooms and minimalist (e.g., only a bed and an 18 inch portable desk with a modernist stool). Shower and sink not separated from be bed area. They don't even replace the soap from one day to the next. But very clean and modern looking. Recommend only to those looking for no frills whatsoever.

the max hotel is in a great location from the nord train station and the centre for sightseeing. its a very simple yet modern and clean hotel, it was very quiet and very well priced.

The hotel is very modern with all the furnishing etc seemingly from the ulra-scandinavian section of the IKEA catalog. But it was quite comfortable. Two things to keep in mind. 1) It is entirely self service and automated, which is nice -- but you need to be prepared for that otherwise it will come as a shock. For this reason they cannot hold your bags after checkout, so be warned... 2) The neighborhood its in is nice, but the next neighborhood north leaves you with a smattering of adult stores only about 2 blocks away. However, going south will take you into the heart of some lovely neighborhoods and side streets.

It is a pretty cool new hotel, with nice spacious, comfortable and clean rooms. For the usual overnight business trip in Bruxelles absolutely recommended. The location is in 2 min walking distance to Metro station, Grand Place is a 10 min walk and there are plenty of bars/restaurants in walking distance Hotel staff was very helpful and all the add-on's (tv, wifi, drinks, food, etc...) are not really expensive in the vending machines

This hotel was OK. Rather basic, but for the price in the city centre I suppose you expect that. The breakfast was a bit disappointing - a vending machine with no staff present and not much choice, but there is a nice caff just round the corner that I found.

The hotel was immaculate and the individual working the front desk was extremely helpful. The hotel was also in a great location; it was very close to all the main attractions in the city center. Safe at night, and surrounded by many bars and cafes. All around great hotel!

Brilliant idea, there should be one in every town. Great location, minutes walk from everywhere. Even though its not staffed there is someone on the front door for assistance and questions. Easy to check in, but do find out your check in number before arrival. I have never seen a hotel room so clean, everything that should have been white was white, tiles clean in bathroom etc. Only problem we had was with the lockers. We only stayed one night, so we used them on the day we arrived and the day we departed. Arrival day was fine, departure day when we came back to collect the locker was empty and the lock had been dismantled. We went down to the guy on the door and he seemed amused by my panic as the tickets and passports were in them. He laughed and said 'can you not find your bags?' He had them in a side room and said they had some trouble with the lockers and had to change the locks every so many weeks. I went back up after and there was no other lock missing and there were lockers in use. It is still playing on my mind!!!

About 10-15 minutes walking from Grand Palace. 10 minutes from Gare du Nord. Very convenient location and easy to find. Staff friendly and available. Rooms very clean and comfortable. No complaints except that located near several "adult" stores.

A modern, hi-tech hotel in Brussels Lower Town, close to Brussels Nord station and convenient for the greater sights of Grand Place (it is near Rogier metro stop). There are 8 floors with 9 rooms per floor. Each room is quite small, but perfectly clean and well kept. The rooms are also quiet and state-of-the art, if a little without many trimmings. An ideal place to lay your head at modest cost.

I quite liked this place. It's very, very pared down and you'll not see any staff or cleaners about (though there's one person tucked away to help you get in or out if you're struggling with the ATM check-in). Basic, but clean, comfortable and a little funky.

Due to the French strikes we arrived 36 hours late and the area didn't appear to have any restaurants open at 10.30pm but the hotel has a little high tec vending area, so sandwiches sufficed. Decor was bright and airy in public rooms and bedrooms, and the fixtures and fittings were fine for the price. Excellent shower. The surrounding area is actually a bit of a red light district which may account for the very posh hotel opposite and its row of gleaming diplomats cars! I never had time to figure out whether the hotel was well placed for getting to tourist attractions, I did have an early morning visit to the metro/tram station just along the road, but not having a guide book, the very complex route maps led to me having a pretty boring and painfully slow tram ride to a suburb of the city, grabbing coffee and croissant at a nice little bakery, then an even slower ride back. The trams take no priority unlike Amsterdam or Montpellier that we also visited that trip. All in all though, for a short backpacker/business type stay, I'd give the hotel the thumbs up!

We stayed in a tiny double room, walking distance to the train station. Rooms were clean but not very comfortable due to the size of them! They have vending machine with tea/coffee/snacks. Great hotel if you just intend to sleep there! If its rainging find somewhere else to go!!

A 'new concept' hotel - actually simply a hotel with minimal staff and no frills. You register using your credit card, use your room key/card to get in and, unless you want to say hello to the assistant staff manning the front door, or use the common area on the first floor (which has the vending machines - including WiFi access cards), you don't need to see anyone during your stay. That's fine for me, on business and, I imagine, for plenty of other people who only use the room to sleep at night. The room was fine although perhaps a little stark and cut-down for some people. Stylish, a good size, quiet room with (for once) a heating/cooling sytem that works, a comfortable bed, a TV (but no free UK channels), a nice shower room (rain shower and hand-held) but no wardrobe - maybe a problem if you stay for more than a few days. Very clean. a couple of niggles: TV is too high, so if you lie in bed, the picture is very poor. Curiously, the cut-price consultants have suggested a wash basin with a permanent drain - OK for brushing your teeth but no good if you are a man and want a basin of water to have a shave. The location is good, very near the main shopping area - well, OK, near the strip clubs too, but that is Brussels. But, for all that, a good area of town and extremely good value for money.

The hotel was clean and modern and the location is fab (about a 10min walk to Grand Place)...highly recommend!!
