Due to street break-up reaching the hotel was a nightmare. They're in the process of restoration, but so were they also two years ago. The basin in the washroom is about to fall off. I doubt we will stay there again. The reasonable rate attracted us. The continental breakfast is a great plus!

Under renovation. Clean. Comfortable beds

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.. The hotel was renovating while we were there some some of the demolition material was outside part of the building and not in a dumpster which made the place look a little trashy. The neighborhood is under construction so it looks from the outside like a shotty neighborhood but it really wasnt. The hotel is only about 8 blocks from the Byward Market which was great we walked to almost everywhere we wanted to see. The mint, the market, the government buildings, the library, all within a 20 minute walk. There was plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. Again if judge a book by its cover it doesnt look like much, but location, location, location is the name of the game for this hotel. Breakfast was suitable but the market provided so many other opportunities we didnt eat much there. Free parking, Wi-Fi at the office but it did sometimes work in the room, and free breakfast rounded out a comfortable stay!

The reception was awesome! Great people to deal with! Will return because the management made us feel very welcome. Perfectly located.

Location great .Walk or bus to main attractions.Free buffet breakfast .Quiet Parking free, but often use public bus from the Via train station.

good: free parking and included breakfast; bad: hotel condition (we stayed during a renovation?) - no carpet on the floor and not very charming atmosphere. in the room it smelled like wallpaper paste. but people were nice. rate was o.k.

I won't stay there again.

Hi, Thank you for recommending us this hotel. For this particular visit to Ottawa it was great, because of close proximity to downtown Ottawa. It was great an experience for us.

It was OK

An older but well maintained hotel. Free parking is a plus in downtown Ottawa. This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Parliament buildings, Byward Market and lots of dining options. A decent breakfast is also included in the price and it is better than most that I have encountered in similar priced establishments. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Slept very well. Staff at front desk was very friendly, courteious and most helpful. Had trouble with the Wi-Fi connection - front desk immediately put me touch with provide by phone and problem was solved. I will be staying at this Econo-Lodge on my next trip to Ottawa.

The hotel more like a motel of the kind common in the 1950's and -60's. It seemed to be in the need of some repair and there were indeed renovations going on while I was there. Except for the bed, which was wonderfully comfortable and seemed new, the furniture needs to be updated. But the place was clean and the staff in the reception very friendly and helpful, so I got my money's worth. / Lilian J.

Ok for the price I've paid for 2 nights.

Price was good, but this old motor-hotel was undergoing renovations and our room wasn't finished. Bare unpainted drywall patches, bare unpainted steel entrance door and frame. Bathroom vanity not fastened to wall. Furniture like the TV cabinet and a small table were old and scratched. Continental breakfast was quite good.

This hotel was ghetto, sketchy looking people hanging around, you swear they rent rooms by the hour there. I didnt feel safe at all there. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. They charge you so much for such a horrible place. The sink in the bathroom wouldnt drain. The bed was hard and the sheets had a stain on it. It was disgusting

it was great but when we come first time and see the face out it's not beutiful at all you should think about this part of the hotel it's so important - Thanks

I thought that this econolodge was great place to stay while you travel to Ottawa. I will order this hotel again next time.

The location is near downtown, the hotel is under renovation which can only improve the place. The bathroom was tiny and not vey clean, the beds were dated as was the decor, and one lamp shade was broken. Hotel security was minimal in an area that is not very safe. Breakfast was simple and edible and overall the stay was un-eventful.

Room is clean and spacious. The heating system is very quiet. Although it looks like a motel set up, it is better than we thought. It's overall satisfactory.

The service was excellent and the room was clean, but the hotel hall way is under renovation and the room was affected. 1) the door handle fell off the door, 2) the thermostat did not work and the room was very cool (17C) 3) the entry door to the room was 2cm from the floor. I could put my hand under the door so the heat was leaving the room. Hopefully next visit everything will be done and up to standard. :)

It was just a night but I was scared of sleeping, the place felt very empty and cold

Very good service, nice complimentary brekfast, excellent location, free parking, friendly staff. Can recommend for a shirt stay

Heating system didn't work. It was way too hot. In the shower the faucets are reversed. They're doing construction and so the hallway is pretty cold (during winter). The bed was extremely uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I woke up sore. It was over priced for what we got. I could have paid less for a similar room at a hostel. I will definitely not be going back there. For an extra 20$ I could have gotten a hotel closer to the downtown core and be a lot more comfortable.

The hotel is set in a motel model where all rooms open to a central court which is the car park. There is hardly any sound insulation in the walls and throughout the night it felt like having my next door neighbors with me in the room. On one side I had a lady who spent the night shouting at someone on the phone and crying, and on the other I had a group of young men talking and laughing and I just couldn't sleep till after 3am which was very late because I had to get up at 6am and drive for six hours back to Toronto. I only stayed for one night and it was a complete nightmare.

The motel was in the midst of renovations so it is not right to give it any rating. It was quiet despite the work and comfortable. The price was right and the amenities were adequate. As I know Ottawa well, it was perfectly situated for my needs.

My stay was very enjoyable. Room had a fridge and microwave for making own beverages and meals. The only drawback is the location of the breakfast room. One has to go across the parking lot no matter the weather to get to this room. In the winter that is unpleasant.

Staff are very helpful and kind. Would stay here again.

The room was quiet and very comfortable. The hotel itself is close to Byward Market and Parliment.

First thing I noticed when I went into the bathroom was fresh drops of urine on the toilet seat. Gross!!! Check out time was 11am. I was still in my room at 11:08 finishing packing up. 2 times the phone rang to tell me checkout was 11am. OMG!!!! It's not like I was still there at 2 in the afternoon!!! On the other hand I'll give credit where credit is due. Location, free parking & good wireless internet signal are all plusses.

The room was comfortable enough, in that it was clean and the bed the firmness the way we liked it. Didn't feel comfortable in the neighborhood after dark, or in the inner parking lot for the safety of our car or belongings. We saw 2 car "bumping" incidents, as the parking lot is somewhat small. If everyone drove small cars it would be okay to park there, but not everyone feels safe in a small car. The staff is working to keep up the cleanliness & maintenance of appliances, lights, etc., in the rooms, but the exterior of the hotel could do with a make-over.

My first impression whe we arrived to the hotel was " were we are, this is not the hotel that we booked, full of kids playing at the parking lote, people without shirt seating in front of their rooms, really bad impression. We asked, before check in, to see our rooms; air conditions did not work, dirty bathrooms, that bad than my wife start crying. When the receptionist ask if everything was OK, I said, no, she is not happy. We left and found rooms at Econo Lodge North in Ottawa, just few blocks from it, what a difference, clean rooms, ac working, nice reception, etc. Please DO NOT incluide the Econo Lodge Downtown in your list of hotels. Do not deserved 2 stars

The helpful staff made my stay pleasant. I could not get the room on ground floor and there were no elevators but guy on the front desk helped me take my luggage upstairs. The lady next morning at front desk was also very helpful. The location was good for me. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel.
