It's not your standard business hotel, it looks like it has been refurbished since the 70s. However, the staff is very friendly , location good, close to the city center but not that close either.I keep going back always because, although it wont impress anybody, it's a cheap a reliable option to stay while in Mexico City

Very good staff, extremely clean. Comfortable place to stay if you want something simple and basic and inexpensive. Do not be swayed by the idea of a free continental breakfast - it is juice/coffee and sliced fruit that is sitting out and toast. They want you to sit down and eat just that and tip them. Other than the breakfast thing, it's excellent!!

it was really bad, they had some really loud guests , people screaming in the hallways , loud music, etc really not the ideal place to stay!!

This is an old hotel but it's clean. Stong smelt of carpet cleaner was bother us. The Front Desk staff are very nice, friendly and helpful. We left our bag in the taxi frm hotel to bus station, we called the Font Desk staff, Laura, frm the bus station. She quickly called the cab and found our bag. The cab driver will turn it to her and she will keep the bag until we finish our cities trips and back to DF and certainly will stay there again. Prim hotel needs new towel and room heater. Also, drink water and coffee maker will be great (not common in Mexican hotel seem like). The location is very convenient. Less than 10 minutes walk to Reforma and the turibus stop.

I'm in DF a lot... won't waste my time dissing just understand that there are plenty of much better options, both Hotel New York and Hotel El Salvador come to mind. Prim gets away with hospitality manslaughter...

This is a good choice for the budget minded traveler. It is clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful. No Espanol? No Problem. They will do their best to help. The location is only a couple of blocks from la Reforma and Insurgentes, two of Mexico City's major thorofares and within walking distance.As a bonus, there is a first class cabaret show on weekends in the hotel cocktail lounge, a rarity these days in the USA. BTW, in Mexico, it is normal to leave a deposit for the remote control because they usually dont require a credit card swipe. Also, a continental breakfast in Mexico is sweet bread and coffee (2 of the complaints on other reviews. So stay at the Prim and save your money for more travel. Or stay at the American branded hotels and pay 3-4 times as much for just a little more amenities.

We had no issues with our stay. The staff was curteous and helpful. The housekeeping staff was adequate, daily cleanliness of the hotel was fine. My only criticism would be that the hotel was old and a bit run down; matresses and pillows were adequate but not particularly lush, towels were old and rough, carpet old and worn, bathroom tile and fixtures old and stained. Met my minimum requirements - safe and clean.

Good value for money in a hotel that definitely has seen better days BUT still a bargain in Mexico City.

hotel is too old,there was just 1 towel for my 4 family members,they offer secure taxi,is a lie,a fat guy in front desk charge me double fare because a minivan come to pick me up,from hotel to airport 360.00 mx,that's scam,shame in this fat guy,never come back,stay away.

They need more maintanence, about remodel and ladys in the front Desk not to profeccional. Bad actitud.....sorry

100% AWEFUL. IN A VERY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD...DINING AREA IS VERY FILTHY...2ND NITE - ROOM CLEANED BUT HAD TO CALL FOR TOWELS(JUST 1 BAD TOWELS PERSON - NOTHING ELSE), NO REMOTE, TV DID NOT WORK, NO AIR CONDITION, HAIR FUZZ BALLS IN RESTROOM ALL 3 NITES (LOOKS LIKE THEY NEVER CLEANED RESTROOM AT ALL), "FREE" CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST IS A JOKE - BUT DINING ROOM STAFF WERE VERY HELFUL....AS i SAID, MAJOR STAY AWAY - VERY PLACES ELSEWHERE...

The pillow and sheets were with several head hairs and even the other kind of hairs that you don't want to find on your pillow in a hotel! I was moved to another room and it was the same. Night staff were very friendly and concerned (men). Morning female staff at reception they didn't care at all about my bad experience. Restaurant staff were very friendly. Continental breakfast is just a small Mexican baguette cut in half and baked with margarine, juice OR fruits, and 2 small containers of marmalade and coffee.

I just visit Mexico City and I was very happy to stay in this hotel, very nice location, all the people was very nice, special the front desk people, thank you very much, I'm looking forward to come back again. Pedro.

You wont spend your honeymoon there but if you want an economic option not that close to the centro that makes it dangerous, the Prim is the right choice. Close to Reforma, but unfortunately far away from the metro station. However, for 20 pesos taxi you are in Roma or Zona Rosa in less than 10 minutes.

Hotel too old, cleanliness too poor, old plumbing, the rate was so good just for sleep in or visit other places and don'tn worry about the night payment; The best thing in the hotel was the breakfast, it was so great and tasteful.

Hotel Prim was clean for the most part. I booked online a smoking room and upon arrival filled out a paper that said "smoking". When we got in the room it was non smoking. No big deal but when we went to request a smoking room the staff did not want to change our room. After a bit of talking the employee led us to a room on another floor. The "smoking floor" was noticeably more dirty than the last, and all the lights were turned off as to hide the stained carpets. We got inside and it was not as nice as the previous room, and I noticed there was no bottle of water in this room. In the first room there was a bottle of water and two empty plastic cups over top of the bottle. Not in this room, no bottled water.. I found nothing but 2 empty plastic cups and one of them had lipstick on it! Not my own lipstick, but someone else 's! I told the front desk about it and and a lady said she would take care of it but never did. Poor service. Another thing, the ad also says this place has Airport shuttle service, nope. It's an over priced taxi they call for you. False advertisement as well!

It's a very good place. I had really good time and on my next trip to Mexico City for sure I will stay at Hotel Prim again.

The hotel will call a taxi for you. They are supose to be secure..But be aware. Not true!

Elevator is not working. Restaurant very bad. Room very noisy and they don't have bussines centre as they anounce on her web page. This hotel is very old. Not recomended.

The hotel is old and not in very good condition. There are much better options in the neighborhood for a much similar price.

This is the third time I stayed at Hotel Prim and the three times I have had a not too goog experience with the customer service. I keep coming back because the location is really convenient, the Hotel is located at a walking distance to Reforma Street and it is easy for you to go from there to the Centro Historico. However, the service is really bad, the Hotel is old but I just go there to sleep so I try not to pay too much attention to the service. The hotel is really cheep so you get what you pay.

The price is great is you dont mind a hot room with no AC. Sorrounding neighborhood is ugly and was scary having my whole family with me. I would just pay the extra money next time for a better location and better room. This would be ok if you are a male, staying solo, and hurting for money..

Hotel Prim is a good place to stay during your visit. The staff is great. It's convenient to most attractions and the Metro. Surrounding neigborhoods are fine and filled with many restaurants and tiendas. Some shortfalls: No air conditioning so when we're there, it was uncomfortable to sleep at night. Open the window will only invite mosquitoes. Other than that, it's fine. Hopefully they will have AC next time. Will stay again if it does.

The actual hotel and the photos they post are not the same, the photos show a nice well taken care place, but in reality the hotel is very old, wasted, and stinky. We arrived around 10 am, check in time is at 1:00 pm, so they charged me a full extra day to let us in, which I paid because we where very tired from the trip. They gave us a very small room, compared to what the photos show. From the moment you step into this place there is a funny smell, from the desk, the elevators, to the room and the restroom, is hard to tell what smelled worse. My wife and I sleep for two hours and that was as much as we could take from this place. I called hotels.com customer service to change our reservation and 20 minutes after we where on our way to another hotel, which ended been a very decent place. I had to pay a cancellation fee but it was worth it. I asked the guy that helped us carry our stuff to the room about complains, and he said that everybody that makes their reservation over the Internet complains that the photos and the actual hotel are not the same. Don't let your self be scammed and skip this stinky place.

Be sure to ask for an inside courtyard room--many rooms face west and are hot. The description states 3 star but it does not state there is no A/C--this is important even in May. Great neighborhood-close to Reforma. Safe. Not really near a metro stop. Taxis are cheap but they seemingly always take the LONG way. :) Service is good but condition of hotel is really run down and they do not have ceiling or other fans for the rooms.

The hotel was probably nice 25 years ago but it is now quite shabby and in need of renos. However, rooms are clean and decent for the price and location, which is a walking distance from such places as the Ciudadela Artisan Market, Museum of Fine Arts, the Paseo Reforma, tourist bus and city buses and metro. If you are not expecting a 5 star hotel, you won't be disappointed. And the staff is very nice and helpful too.

I have written a review about this hotel. I would advise anyone going to Mexico City to check out the areas where there are things you want to see and to stay near those things as taxi prices are unbelievable. Great if you are familiar with the subway system or bus system . . .stay anywhere. This hotel was quite a distance from anything I wanted to see except for the Zocalo and the Museo de Bellas Artes. Those were within walking distance. BUT you must be careful. The hotel price is great, but the noise is horrific from the street and sometimes from the lobby. There is no air conditioning. They failed to give me a wake up call, and I almost missed my flight. I will never stay there again, and I go to Mexico every summer.

I almost missed my flight home as I did not receive the promised wake up call. I had stayed at this hotel twice before and HAD received the call. I think someone's nose was out of joint because I complained so vigorously about the noise the day before. When I stayed in early July, I asked that on my return trips, I have a room without excessive noise. The second visit, they gave me the exact same noisy side of the hotel. On my THIRD visit, first, the room was unready which I understand as I was quite early. BUT they moved me to a room in which there was CONSTANT music which came from the lobby. I had become quite ill and could not abide it. I had to call twice to finally get moved. I was so sick that I went down the hall barely dressed and without shoes. THEN, a group of teens and their parents were put in the rooms around me. Not only did the teens do typically teen-aged things like continuously knock on each others doors, but they also were spraying paint, the smell of which made me quite ill. I had to go out into the hall twice, once to ask them to be quite and once to ask them to do something about the odor. Both times, they shut their doors which were wide opened onto the hall. In addition, their parents got into a huge fight to which I had to listen.

Over the course of the summer I had four seperate reservations at the Prim between trips to other parts of Mexico. I stayed in a single, two doubles, and one suite. All rooms were clean and ready on arrival as requested. This is not a fancy hotel so everything is not new, but everything is taken care of. The Prim has an almost enjoyable air of faded glory -- it is clear (from the plaque in the lobby about a presidential visit, for example -- that the Prim at one point was higher on the fancy spectrum. I mention all this because despite the worn nature of the hotel, my impression is that the employees still take pride in the place. I had nothing but positive interactions with the employees over my several visits, and this was with a wide variety of folks at all times of the day and sometimes when requesting changes or considerations. If space is important to you, spend the extra money and get a suite. Some of them (I stayed in one and some friends were in another) are huge and all seem to be at least big. The regular single or double rooms are plenty big in my opinion, but the suites have seperate sitting areas and a fridge. The wireless Internet is indeed free and fast, although you may want to request a room near the elevators and/or the front air shaft (that is, the one closest to Calle Versalle) for the signal to reach you. In one of the four rooms the signal was too weak, but it was easy enough to use the Internet in a common area. I did not partake in the free continental breakfast because I like to sleep all morning (and it goes to noon) so I can't attest to it. I believe it is rather minimal, as continental breakfasts are, so don't expect a feast. Have your big meal for lunch, like the locals! The walk to the Metro is about 10 minutes (to the Cuauhtemoc station) and there is another metro station nearby on another line which I didn't use. Both myself (32 year old gringo) and my similar female travelling companion walked to and from the metro without inciden

This was the cheapest hotel I found on Hotels.com at the time of booking. The rooms are old and outdated but clean. Service was very good. It was much better than I expected, including the proximity to Zona Rosa. Highly recommend for the budget traveler.

El hotel podría ser una mejor opción si hacen unas pequeñas inversiones: mínimamente ventiladores para las habitaciones (preferiblemente aire acondicionado), renovación de toallas (si bien están limpias ya se les ve el paso de los años), rapidez en la limpieza (pasan horas entre el retiro de las sábanas y la colocación de las limpias)

El personal del hotel es muy amable, pero eso no lo salva. El hotel es deprimente, el edificio es viejo pero parece que no han hecho el mínimo arreglo desde que lo abrieron. El mobiliario de la habitación es muy viejo, el colchón vencido, la alfombra vieja, la ropa de cama es pésima, tiene unas molduras de decoración de hielo seco que literalmente es eso ni siquiera tuvieron la delicadeza de pintarlas. El azulejo del baño es muy antiguo y gastado y las toallas estaban manchadas y desaciendose. No lo recomiendo por el simple hecho de que no es económico, hay hoteles de 5 estrellas que cobran lo doble que este que no merece ni una estrella. Queda a 4 calles de Reforma pero estas de noche están en penumbras y los alrededores del lugar también. Tiene un bar con musica muy fuerte, en mi habitación se escuchaba pero no me llego a molestar imagino que en otras debe ser terrible. No gasten su dinero en este hotel no vale la pena

Muy bien en general, las instalaciones son un poco antiguas, pero sigue siendo un buen hotel, muy bien ubicado y el servicio proporcionado por el personal fue muy atento y amable. Muy recomendable.
