The Palace Hotel - مانشيستر

We stayed here as a group of six, check-in was very accomadaying ensuring all our rooms were together. The rooms were the most spacious I have stayed in, very comfortable beds and all amenities we could want in the room. The night porter was extremely helpful when one of our group couldn't find their room! 24 hour room service available and a very short walk to Deansgate locks. Very useful concierge service the following day to look after our bags whilst we spent the afternoon in the city centre. Very helpful staff and would definitely return again. Better service than the Hilton!

Great hotel in a brilliant location, close to the main attractions of the city centre and perfect for the theatre. Reception staff were efficient, if not the friendliest bunch! Did the job well thought so i will not complain! Room was nice, big comfy beds, no view to speak of but lots of windows so lots of natural light. I would recommend breakfast, excallent choice of both hot and cold food, very friendly staff. Overall a nice hotel would stay again.

excellent location, would have no problms recommending this hotel. only issue would be that the walls are a bit thin. we could hear the guy next door snoring. staff were very friendly and helpful. very impressive reception area!

The Palace Hotel we thought was absolutely fantastic an unspoilt Hotel amazing interior .. We only stayed for 1 night before going onto a show at the Opera House but can honestly say we will be back .... Luved It ....

I really enjoyed my recent stay in the Palace Hotel. The room was large, with a 20 feet high ceiling, clean and nicely furnished. The bar is a pleasant location for a drink and the bar food was enjoyable. Everywhere we wished to go was accessible by walking but free Metro buses also run in the City Centre if required.

The Palace hotel is a fantastic piece of architecture - with an impressive entrance lobby and beautiful examples of victorian design. Convenient location and a great breakfast too!

We stayed for one night in the Palace Hotel, Manchester. The hotel was easily accessible from the airport via train, and is located directly adjacent to the Oxford road rail station. The hotel itself is a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre. For the price we paid, the hotel was amazing quality. It is in need of some repair and the lifts could be updated. Our bedroom was very old fashioned but that added to the appeal. There is simply no other word to describe the bed but AMAZING! We have stayed in many establishments over the years but the bed we got in the Palace Hotel was by far the best! The bathroom was adequate size and comprised a bath/shower. All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel. As neither of us are big shoppers, we really didn't enjoy Manchester as a city, so its unlikely that we will return but we will definitely be keeping an eye out for other hotels belonging to this hotel chain!

This is a must for lovers of old architecture. I'm not one of them, although the bar and restaurant area was more to my taste. I found the hotel layout difficult to navigate even when I accepted that my room (beginning with a '5') was actually on the 3rd floor. I seemed to end up at staircases which delivered me to store cupboards and unused fire exits. The staff seemed to always be preoccupied with doing something else and I was made to wait in the bar and at reception more than once while they finished something off with a customer standing there. Nothing, repeat nothing is more important than the customer. In the first evening, the first 2 choices of draft drink were not available. All said, I did get a fantastic last minute deal so value for money remained high. Not somewhere I would re-visit though.

Excellent hotel and value for money , would strongly recomend and return.Very central, beautiful architecture.

On arriving at the hotel the staff was brill the room was clean but could gave been warmer. My only concern was a broken tile on the bathroom floor.cut my toe.

Pros - Comfy bed, lots of hot water, digital TV, quiet and dark room, friendly and helpful staff. Cons - my room was enormous and therefore a bit cold.

This was the best Hotel I have been in. the room was huge and very comfortable and the bed was so soft. I can never sleep properly when I'm traveling, but I slept better than at home in this bed. cleaning lady was very warm and friendly, and the hotel service was excellent. I asked for extra toilet paper and towels and got it in minutes.Only thing I missed was a wireless internet connection in the room because I didn't have a laptop so had to use my phone. Hotel is beautiful, and conveniently placed just over the street from the train station. It was so easy for me to get up early in the morning and take the train straight to the airport. I also asked them to wake me up and they did ,,, in time. I loved this hotel and I will definitely go back.

The hotel was lovely. The first room that we were allocated was extremely hot & the valve to turn the radiator down was missing. We asked for a change of room & were allocated a large room with 2 double beds, comfy chairs & a 16' high ceiling. The beds were comfy too, unusual for mist hotels, so a bonus for me who likes a firm mattresses with a nice soft topper. Breakfast was good, though my partner was disappointed at the lack of black pudding which was advertised on the menu. A word of warning - if we got lost trying to fund our room or reception, we got lost a dozen times! The place is a labyrinth & the singer not good. We came across at least 5 staircases & 3 lifts, it seemed that each time we arrived at reception, we arrived from a different direction. It was like a treasure hunt, the prize being getting to where you want to be. Built in a beautiful old converted assurance company building, the original features are in abundance: lots if glazed tile pillars, fancy ceilings & complex tiled floors, the detail is lovely. If you like late Victorian architecture, it's well worth a visit. The restaurant was particularly nice. Overall a decent place to stay, close to the city centre & right by Oxford Rd station, but we weren't bothered by noise from the trains.

The hotel is great location, little noisy at nightime. would not recommend to go here december the staff had many xmas partys to deal with. coild not get a drink at the bar and could not get a coffee, so not happy at he time but just put it down to the time of year.

Massive hotel and very impressive entrance. The place is a maze but that's due to it's VERY interesting history. ALL staff were very helpful and polite. The breakfast was awful and not good value for money so after the first morning ate elsewhere. The location is great and well located centrally for the exhibition centre and I would recommend the hotel.

All the basics were absolutely fine: the hotel staff were all cheery and friendly, the room and the communal areas were all clean, and the bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. We had a fairly quiet, and fairly huge, room, which was just fine. We'd read comments saying the hotel was shabby and dirty - there were some little details in the room that were a bit worn (eg little bits of missing grouting in the bathroom), but overall, it was good. The hotel itself is a fascinating conversion of some interesting buildings, with surprises on every corner - mainly, the signage is good, but it does take a while to get from the entrance to most of the rooms. Enjoyed it thoroughly, would happily stay again.

I would define this hotel as being very average. Not a luxery hotel, but not a shabby hotel either. The hotel is good for shorter business trips or if you do not have that much money for your holiday, but for a longer trip, I would personally prefer a hotel with a bit nicer facilities. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast good.

Very convenient location for the station and centre of Manchester. This was the second time we had stayed at the hotel and it was almost as good as the first time. Our room was a little on the cool side this time and we were unfortunate to be there when there was a burst water main in the street. This meant no water in the room in the morning. This was dealt with well by hotel staff and we were given another room to wash and shower in, in another part of the hotel.

Room nice but expensive. Did not include breakfast. Receptionist did not point out where the facilities in the hotel were. People in the next room kept trying to open the adjoining door in the bedroom, which thankfully was locked. The way the hotel was layed out anyone off the street could walk in which made me feel vulnerable. The combination of these things spoiled my stay.

Everything I wanted for a peaceful, resting, romantic break with my partner. Luxurious and my best hotel stay in manchester yet. Would definately reccomend the decor, staff and the spacious nature of the room. Also everything with the character and aesthetics was perfect.

Stayed 1 night whilst attending a business function in the hotel. Quick check in despite the fact it was quite busy (lots of staff available). Room was very nice (and large) with all the usual amenities. Would use again

Awful hotel. The rooms were old, dirty and smelly. There was also cold water in the showers.

The stunning entrance reminds you of Roman building and once inside, the ornate tiled pillars and walls hark back to the days when money spent on detail was no option. This building could never be re created. Lovely staff and an easy non snobby atmosphere. Perfectly place for city centre and across the rd to the train station for Old TRafford football ground. High ceiling rooms, slightly tired decor but clean and a pleaseure to stay in.

arrived mid pm on saturday was checked in really quickly. we had a room on the first floor nice size ok for price we paid only problem was we had paid for a room for three and there was only two beds.i rang immediately for a bed and was promised a return call this didnt happen (not a good start) after fifteen mins rang down to reception again who informed me it was being dealt with and an extra bed would be supplied while we went out.Arrived back at hotel 7.30pm still no bed rang down again (third time) and bed arrived then within ten mins. Breakfast ok but limited choice and no fried eggs!! would stay again if price was right central to everything.On the whole enjoyed our stay just few issues that could have been resolved quicker

Great hotel and the comfiest bed ever but the hall ways and corridors could do with a little TLC. I loved the fact they had a sign saying that due to the age of the building the lift was out of order...what a daft excuse.

There are no car parking facilities at the hotel, no pull in to unload suitcases, bags etc., all the roads outside the hotel have double yellow lines, therefore no parking allowed. The car park suggested by the hotel is some distance away down a series of badly lit, shabby back streets. On checking in we were directed to a lift which did not take us to the correct part of the building that our room was on. We had to return to the hotel reception, and be redirected to another lift, carrying several bags etc. no help was offered. The room was unbearable hot, and we were unable to adjust the air conditioning. There was no internet connection available in the room, although it was advertised, something that we required. If the room that was allocated to us was unable to provide this service then , this should be stated on booking in.

Although the Hotel building is impressive,the overall service is a let down. On arrival at 9.45pm I wasn't informed at check-in that bar food service stopped at 10pm so after unpacking my bags I was a little dissapointed to find that I had just missed food servie at the barand I would have to go back to my room to order (the bar staff were unable to order on my behalf). After finishing my glass I phoned room service only to be told that all hot food had stopped at 10pm and that they weren't even sure whether I could order sandwiches - I left it with them to find out and call me back. About 15min later, after not receiving a call, I decided to head to Sainsburys across the street to pick somthing up only to find that they closed at 11pm. So, I went back to the hotel and asked reception to help - a ham sandwhich arrived at the room around 20min later and was very nice but it was about 1h30 after I had first tried to order food. In addition it is not clear from the website that car parking is a 10 min walk around the block and not free.

i have been to the hotel for short stays over the years. i was this time there for 5 nighs, and found the following, there was no towel rail in the bathroom, and the toliet roll holder was loos, so every time it was used, the toiler roll would fall off. i did reprot this on the first day but no action was taken. also on the monday morning, some 1 had been sick right outside the main entrance, and this was there all day !!,

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the entrance is very impressive. However the rooms seemed a little tired and old fashioned. Convenient location but in need of updating.

What an amazing place! I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay up in Manchester. Hugely under-rated, it has a fascinating history and the story of the Palace Hotel was enthralling. Its like a labarynth and you can imagine what it was like when Refuge Assurance was in its hey day. I had no idea of the extent of the interesting history and architecture of Manchester city centre and the free busses trundling about the place makes it all so accessable. My next visit will need to be for pleasure rather than business I think!

Excellent location with HUGE rooms but the air conditioning didnt work and it was a stuffy weekend in manchester. Need be a deep sleep(which I am) to sleep through the traffic and trains

This hotel is a period piece and is certainly fascinating from an historical point of view--one can imagine the barons of the industrial revolution staying there in luxury. Try to see the room full of safes (for keeping guest trunks?) and the exquisite lobby. The hotel must, however, pay much more attention to deferred maintenance. In our room, the bathtub drain contraption had broken--part of an antiquated plumbing arrangement-- but the shower did work. The window hardware was broken and most windows would not open -- problematic because of the hot weather. The windows and hardware desperately need to be cleaned inside and out -- all the soot of the industrial revolution in Manchester remains on those window panes and ledges. The desk staff person was very courteous and allowed us to check in early--we were quite grateful because we'd just come from the US and were exhausted. However, the majority of hotel staff were inaccessible and appeared preoccupied with the various business conferences underway on another floor (perhaps this is the only way the hotel stays in business?) The biggest problem: passenger and freight railroad tracks were right next to the room. Even with earplugs, we heard deafening freight trains running throughout the middle of the night. Perhaps we could have moved rooms, but we were too exhausted to think about this option at the time.

We were put in this old - not the modern rooms that are shown on the site. The guest service wasn't very friendly. To be fair my husband loved the hotel, and the room - so maybe I am just more picky. He would give it 4-4.5/5, I would give it 3/5

My room was in what is technically the sub basement and was extremely complicated to get to. The room itself was adequately large but dated and with no availability of ventilation. There was a nasty smell of toilets on the route back to reception pas the conferencing area.

We were asked to upgrade as no doubles available at 2.10pm, we did much to our disgust. The room was filthy, very tired and not fitting the executive price tag. Bar staff rude, breakfasts cold. Complaints taken on board by mangement and investigated, we did also get a discount on the rate. I Understand the hotel now have a maintenance and cleaning crew booked for next week to deal with issues.

For the price paid this is one of the better hotels in Manchester and it beats staying in a travel lodge hands down. In addition it's directly opposite the train station. Some of the rooms are a little dated but even these are of an acceptable standard. Very pleased with our stay.
