Awesome location and 5 minute stroll from beautiful beaches. A little tired, but latest technology in motion sensors to conserve energy!! Good value all around, although not having a flat-screen TV was a bit of a shock, even though we didn't even watch TV. Shower pressure was beyond good!!

When I booked this hotel, it appeared to be somewhat of a boutique hotel, very nice, updated. Well, although some areas have been updated, the actual room is standard Motel 6. The carpet was warped, the steam from shower fills entire room and the walls have drip marks all over the room. The lighting has to be set from a main switch on the other side of the room, it took forever to figure that out. We had to call to get directions on how to turn the lights on. The bed was warped, not comfortable at all. The exhaust fan in our room was hanging down. The shower felt like needles in your back and when we were leaving, we tried to get a cup of coffee but there wasn't any in the thermoses. The attendant just watched us struggling to pump it out, never offered to refil it or anything. Has potential, needs more work.

The images on the site showing the hotel make tit look great, however they are a little different in person. Great parking, nice people but the hotel hasn't been updated for a long time.

Not a bad hotel, the bathroom lights didn't work though. I had to drag a floor lamp over to the bathroom sink so I could shave in the morning.

1. There was never anyone at the desk. We would usually find him sitting in the dark watching TV in the next room. 2. The hotel hottub/jacuzzi by the pool was working, but the water was luke-warm at best. 3. There appeared to be a towell shortage. They came to our door to collect our towells mid-morning (actually they asked us to hand them over) and we did not get replacements for several hours. I'm a repeat guest. This stay was the worst.

This hotel was alright. A hotel with the most basic of ammenities. I was a good stay for a night, but wouldn't stay much past that. It was a clean room. The bedding was scarce. All the lights in the room were on a motion sensor, which made it difficult to sleep at night. Each time I rolled over the lights in the bathroom turned. Again, overall not bad.

My room was large. I liked that parking was free and below the hotel, so it was an elevator ride to the lobby or the floor of my room. Nothing exciting about the lobby. Enjoyed the hot tub outside. I couldn't get my TV remote to work but I was not bothered enough to get help.

My very first encounter with the Hotel staff was very unpleasant, the receptionist was not very friendly. Lock of my room was not working {It was always in unlocked state} when I checked with the service desk they mentioned that it would take some time and it was o.k to leave the room unlocked as they had security cameras. Anyways luckily for me later on when the maintenance guy came he could fix it before I had to go out. Couple of times the lift was not working, they have a lousy television in the room Continental breakfast was horrible. I would not stay in this hotel again.

Simple and very nice small property. Good for business travel.

The condition of the furnishings were very out dated, decorations, the bed coverings (except for the linens) were old and I imagine not cleaned often, carpets were very old, stained upholstery on chairs and couches. hair dryer did not work, Maintenance of the bathroom calking around the exterior of the shower was badly needed.

The quality of the hotel was good overall. Our room was large, comfortable, and warm. It did not have a mini-fridge for us to put snacks or drinks into, but I didn't really think to ask ahead about that. The front desk attendant was very kind and helpful. The bathroom had a motion-sensor that turned out the lights on you if you didn't wave a hand every few minutes, though. Made the bathroom a bit of an adventure every time.

I was apprehensive booking a room here but it was for 1 night so I did. I was very pleased with the room and it appears everything has been updated.

This is just fine for catching a flight out of LAX. Its close and not noisy or crowded. I found the price to be reasonable. I would do it again.

Not a 5 star hotel by any means. But clean and very convenient to everything. Staff was professional polite and friendly

First of all, the hotel does NOT offer shuttle service from LAX. Even though advertised on the hotel page and on a big banner outside the hotel we had to pay a taxi on our own expense. The manager did not even show up in the hotel to be adressed about the problem and the front desk personal was unwilling and unable to help. Second of all we had, as many visitors before ants all over our room, not only in the bathroom. Cannot recommend this hotel at all.

I had exprcted more for thta price, stayed at nicer places close by for almost the same rate. Internet in the room was non-existent. Nice to have coffee in the lobby, but it was often cold. Best thing about the hotel was the Farmhouse Restaurant next door.

Front desk staff was very nice (gave me an upgrade without me asking). Not a fancy hotel but it was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Good location, free parking. Older hotel that needs to be deep cleaned. The curtains and dust ruffle on the beds were filthy. The first room I was given had AC issues (didn't work) but the staff were nice enough to move me to another room. The second room had ants. Just a few but enough to make my skin crawl. By the time midnight rolled around and I was ready for sleep, I noticed long hairs on the pillows. Gross! There are surely better hotels that are maintained at a higher level.

For a hotel I expected to be able to speak to a Manager however it took three days before he called us to address the challenges we had listed for the people at reception who changed continuously. There was fungus growing on the windows, the room was full of cobwebs and the bed linen was stained. There was an iron bar sticking out of one of the beds and the room was generally unclean. There was no safety deposit box in the room and the ironing cloth was torn. There was not enough room to eat breakfast so on occasions we and other guests eat in the foyer. The swimming pool was not clean and whilst we were determined to enjoy the area which we loved, we could only do that by staying away from the hotel as much as possible. Although we requested to see the manager on three occasions he telephoned us once and never made himself available. This was not acceptable under the circumstances and our complaints were given in writing to the staff at reception and a message left on the managers phone Sunday, he did not get back to us until the following day Monday and it was Tuesday before some of the issues were addressed, we had two days left at that point........... too little too late. Although we said we would change rooms we were never offered another room.

The staff were helpful, polite and informative. The hotel itself is conveniently 20 minutes walk from the beach, which suits us, and near shops and restaurants. There is a public computer in the lobby that was convenient. The room was a good size and the facilities good. The only thing was that it was a little musty smelling and there was signs of cursory cleaning rather than a thorough wash down. This did not detract from our stay - we chose the hotel because of the price at first so we were not at all disappointed. Good value.

while we were hardly in our room, just to sleep. the air conditioner only kept the area directly surrounding it cool. so the room was terribly hot. also the lights in the bathroom did not work.

We just needed a hotel for 2 nights, and hardly spent any time there. It wasn't the nicest hotel, but good for the price we paid and the staff was really friendly. Manhattan beach is a great place to stay - one of the best in LA, and the hotel is perfectly located on highway 1 for people who are there for a road trip (like us) Would not have stayed there for a week, but if we're back for a short visit, then we would probably go here again.

While we slept very comfortably, and definitely enjoyed the in-room jacuzzi and complimentary breakfast, two things marred what would've been a perfect stay. One, there were ants in the room, especially on the bed. We found ourselves several times after we woke, brushing ants off our arms, legs, and shoulders. Ants were also seen in the restroom. Second, the light above the vanity was burned out. I moved a room lamp to the vanity counter to apply my make-up. Staff were very attentive and friendly, especially at breakfast. Also, the close proximity to the beach is a definite draw.

Adequate--nothing more, nothing less. Nondescript highway location, but an easy one mile walk down to the beach. Some lights in the room were missing, but the hotel staff fixed that when I asked.

Very helpful staff , clean rooms,nice pool and hot tub,convenient parking with elevator to lobby,computer access to e-mail and internet at no charge,minutes away from Rodondo and Hermosa Beaches as well as Manhattan Beach with unlimited choice of restaurants in all price ranges. I would definitely return in future visits to area.

No way this hotel is 2 1/2 stars. Half the lights didn't work, including the one over the sink. The television, what a joke! It's one of the old type that doesn't work in today's world; so the image was scrambled. Oh, and the remote control didn't work either ... probably needs a battery. The free breakfast and free off-street parking (albeit limited) are redeeming factors. IMHO, this place is only slightly better than a Motel 6. I won't be back.

Hotel has a lot of good features. Good sized comfortable rooms, pool and hot tub, easy access free parking, basic breakfast and great location with good restaurants within walking distance.

Great Hotel for the price. Very Clean and comfortable, very nice pool and jacuzzi. Close to the beaches and the airport.

Quality of ths hotel has deteriorated sadly over the past 12 months. The quality of the rooms have slipped. The bathroom door could not be close without someone outside the bathroom slamming it shut. Reported to the hotel but nothing was done about it. The cleaniness of the room was extremely poor, still had hair balls on the flor and bins not emptied. We have stayed at this hotels at least 5 times in the past, but the quality this visit was very very poor. Could not recommend it to anyone after this visit. Will not be going back.

The furniture in the room was old & dirty. Even the carpet felt dirty so we kept our slippers on.

Room was clean on first impression, had to have the room right next to the ice machine(not recemended for a decent nughts sleep). There were no towels, so towel lady almost came into room while I was trying to sleep. Our neighbors the Ants arrived & decide to take over the bathroom. Went to talk to front desk about the problem, they said it is because we are so close to the beach( more like 2miles away from the beach, I saw more ants @ that hotel then @ the beach). Not recemended for the price you play for this joint, good luck trying to channel surf on their tv's.

Great location walking distance to the beach! Nice, clean room! Downside? Outdated TV's, Loud A/C, and the Electrical Sensors are an inconvenience! Had a nice two day stay!

Needs to address the Ant problem though. The remote didn't work and the WiFi is horrible if not completely useless.

The wave hotel looks hip and cool online, in reality it is dated and tired. The room was borderline clean, the pool tiny and univiting, the breakfast bar very basic......next time in manhattan Beach I will definitely opt for aother hotel.

My girlfriend and I were on our 3rd annual Mom's weekend away from June 9th-12th 2011. What a treat this hotel was. It is about 1 mile to the beach. We noticed that there are no hotels right on the beach all up on the main 'drag' Our hotel room was lovely. 2 queen size beds, full bathroom, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and microwave. We asked and got a small refridgerator too. After all the walking and bike riding we did it was lovely to come back and sit in the outdoor hottub. The pool was clean but not overly warm. Unfortunately we hit cool weather and not a whole lot of sun. We took a bus to Long Beach (for $1.50!!!) and it took 1 hour to get there. Cheap way to have a little look around. We couldn't find a bus schedule anywhere for this bus (#232) so we just waited at the stop. However the last bus runs at 11pm-ish so watch your time. We rented beach cruisers at Fun Bunns one block off the beach on Manhattan Blvd. This is a definite to-do. Rent the bike all day and ride to Venus Beach which is about 1 1/2 hours away. amazing ride along the bike path that runs the length of the ocean. You also pass thru Marina Del Rey. The hotel provides a continental breakfast, nothing major. My husband definitely would have been looking for more food but for us girls it was fine. A few restaurants close by, Target is one block and they have meat, dairy & veggies there. We had Dominos delivered one night because the two fast food restaurants close by closed at 11pm only the drive thru is open and we were on foot. Shuttle service to/from LAX is convenient and quick. I had a great time and would stay at The Wave again.

My stay in June 2011 for 2 days was a good experience. 1) The Location is GREAT. The hotel is right on Highway 1 - so it close to the beach & you can travel north to Santa Monica and Malibu very easily. 2) There is FREE parking below the hotel. Great for packing/unpacking. 3) There is FREE continental breakfast. There is cereal, toast, coffee, tea, juice, muffins, croissants. Its provides a simple nourishing meal for the start of the day. 4) Room was clean & quiet. good water pressure. 5) Staff at the front desk was helpful in arranging for me to stay an additional night. I recommend this hotel highly!

This has been our seventh stay at this Hotel. The rooms a exceptionally large. Proximaty to LA Airport fantastic. The staff very friendly and helpful. We would not stay anywhere else while in LA

The hotel was exactly what I expected. We got the room with the jacuzzi tub and we had a great time. The light in the vanity didn't work but we didn't care. For the price it was a decent hotel.

This hotel is in a good location if you are just visiting manhattan beach/redondo beach. Its close to the airport thou and has a free shuttle service. It includes complimentary breakfast. It has a spa and pool, laundry facilities, vending machines, free wifi, free internet in lobby, free ice machine. I found our room to be nice with a very comfy bed and the shower was fantastic. However the carpets were filthy, and the lighting in the room was really bad. Apart from this, i give it the thumbs up.

Enjoyed our 1 night stay and appreciated the updated decor, cleanliness and free parking, especially for the price. Although the hotel is located on a busy street, it was very quiet. We could hear heavy footsteps above us in the early am but no noise from the laundry which was right across from us. Great Thai restaurant across the street. Good value and close to LAX.

The Furniture is old, scarred and stained, the carpet in our room had stains, one mattress was bursting its seams, the bathrooms and vanity were very clean, the bedding was clean. It was quiet the first 4 nights of our stay but on the 5th night someone rented the room below us and partied until 2 am. Not cool.
