Your basic needs are covered, but my main thing was cleanliness and location and both were great especially the location will stay again!

Service was horrible. The clerk was more interested in trying to pick up the woman checking in to the hotel before us. After about 10 minutes of standing in the line, with the female guests nearly checked in when I arrived, I was getting tired of hearing his pick up lines and the banter back and forth and while it was apparent I was getting tired of it, it didn't seem to matter to the clerk. Suprisingly, being a male, my process lasted less than five minutes. While I understand that everything is old in Miami, the decor seemed to be half-heartidly done and wasn't done well to keep up with the times. The beds need to be changed....I have a bad back and the sinking into the matress didn't help. As for the cleanliness, no complaints at all and it is a good location to walk to nearly everything.

There are no clocks in the room, nor a local clock in the lobby (weird right?!) so bring your own alarm clock or watch. You can park nearby for cheaper then the valet fee per day ($15 lot to the right of the hotel). Was not very clean. Front desk staff were nice and helpful. Has a room fridge but no microwave. Best part was convenient location, but will take you 20 min to get out of the area via car due to traffic most times of day.

No frills hotel but price and location were great. Service was satisfactory.

staff were unprofession and the hotel was dirty. the pictures on the website are deceiving because the bar patio hasn't been open in over a year.

I visit Miami at least once a year and every time I stay at a different hotel. I've stayed in lush, expensive hotels and some not so good ones as well. I will say that this is a perfect middle ground. The price was within our budget and the location is awesome! You will save hundreds of dollars just by staying one block west of Ocean Dr. The staff was extremely helpful even with our demanding group. The housekeeping was attentive and even helped dry our wet bathing suits. The hotel itself is a little older and the elevator is small but that is to be expected with any SoBe hotel since the city itself is old but the decor is very modern, sleek and bright. I will return to this hotel for sure. Outside of the super expensive hotels, this was the friendliest, and cleanest hotel and EVERYTHING we needed was within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel and I NEVER say that! Superb service!

Superb hotel, from to 30s 40s era, with great style. I was upgraded to the Orchid Suiite by the friendly reception staff - superb stay - 60" flat screen, sound system and other cool features. Would definitely stay here again.

Location and price were good. Older building, as are many on Collins Ave. You could hear the outside noise but it is a decent enough if you aren't expecting too much and just want an affordable place to stay while partying in SoBeach.

Literally a street away from all the partying ! Loooooove the kent super cute

The staff was wonderful, fun, and very helpful. South Beach has many, many hotels to choose from and I would come back to the Kent just because I LOVED the front desk staff, maintenance and housekeeping. They were all exactly what hospitality staff should be. The hotel is perfectly located walking distance to great restaurants and minutes to the beach.

My stay was fabulous. The people at the hotel were very helpful told us what we could do, where to go, what was the place to be and time. Me and my husband got the most out of our 3 day vacation in south beach. We would of gotten more if my husband was so hard headed and would of listen to the man in the front desk but he thought he knew better and he found out quick he didn't. We went to the hottest clubs and had so much fun. We were close to the beach and they provide u with beach towels. They don't have a pool. The room was very modern. They parked the car for us in their parking lot. Anywhere we wanted to go was in walking distance. Loved it would totally go again.

Great hotel if you want to be central to art deco,beaches, business and nightlife.Don't expect luxury,rooms are a bit noisy when people come home,but the guys at the front desk are a great help,the hotel is reasonably clean,and absolutely centrally located .At the left there is a parking(paid).Breakfast at 100 meter from the hotel for about $9,coffee included.Some great restaurants nearby.I will certainly visit again.

we only wanted to have a night on our way north, but we loved the place and asked for another night. Friendly staff, clean everywhere and just a step and you are on the beach.I would go again and again. Great value for that price.

My husband and I came for a 2 night get-a-way. It was perfect for this in terms of location. 2 blocks from the beach and close to lots of great restaurants. Staff was very nice and rooms were perfect for just a place to get some sleep. I would recommend if you were staying one or two nights, but any more than that I wouldn't stay here. The beds were not comfortable at all. That would be my only complaint. Everything else was great.

The hotel is walking distance to all the happening places near south beach. The hotel itself is clean for the most part but has very small rooms with tiny bathrooms. The staff is generally pleasant and helpful. Check in time is 4pm (which is pretty late in my opinion).

Well at first I was a little worried about th location. But it ended up being great for the price. One block from the beach. The staff were more than friendly. An great breakfast places near buy. I would def stay at the KENT again

perfect location to beach

Despite being a little rough around the edges (note the elevator doors that bang closed), this hotel perfectly served our needs for 2 days. It was clean, reasonably comfortable, and VERY convenient. Good value for South Beach.

The Kent is located in the Art Deco area with that South Beach charm. The room and hotel are older and need a bit of updating. The rooms were clean but very basic. But that is all we required for a one night stay before our cruise. The beach is just one block from hotel and there is great shopping and restaurants surrounding.

Francois and Jose were both very helpful and professional They gave us recommendations to some great spots. Hotel and room were clean but both small. Location could not be any better. Two blocks from everything. Only downside: no lounge, no bar or resteraunt on site. But there are plenty within 2 blocks. My wife and I had a nice stay

Overall, the Kent was exactly what I had pictured it would be from reading other reviews. Myself and my girlfriend booked the Kent for 1 night before we left for a cruise out of Miami. We had an early flight and arrived at 12:30 pm. The employees at the desk were very helpful and let us leave our bags in a locked closet until our room was ready at 4pm. We ended up getting a room around 3:30 which was room 110. When we arrived we were actually happy with how clean it felt and the bed was nice with clean sheets, nice floor, clean bathroom and such. I attempted to open the shades in the room and realized why they were closed. It was a horrible view of a dirty alley and buildings with a garbage truck that arrives pretty early. (Not the end of the world) The bathroom is small and water pressure was weak. When it came time to leave the desk staff called a cab for us and was waiting for us when we had to leave at check out. Overall, we felt safe, comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful to us who had never been to Miami. You get what you pay for and I would recommend to anyone staying overnight or for a quick, cheap getaway. It's a block from the beach with a lot of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. It's not the Hilton but it does the job. Two thumbs up. Would stay again.

This is a great place to stay. It's more reasonably priced and quieter than on Ocean Ave and still close to all the action--and the beach!

Pros: Staff was friendly, room was clean, and hotel was very conveniently located Cons: Almost no amenities, poolside bar/restaurant is no longer open, and you can hear everything out in the hallways when you're in your room.

You can't beat the location, although plan to spend 30-45 minutes on Collins Ave. if you are driving at any time other than the morning. The rooms were clean. The whole ambience is from the 50s or 60s, but acceptable. The narrow hallways and plain doors reminded me of a college dorm. No views at all, but that didn't matter because you are in the middle of everything once you step outside. It took a long time to check in. The staff is very friendly and a touch eccentric (you almost feel more like you are in a nightclub than a hotel--but that isn't meant as a complaint), but they use very old equipment (who uses a credit card imprint machine anymore?) and seemed to have trouble with it. I would stay again.

...all that you need for a night to crash after partying.

The room was comfortable enough and clean. The hotel is plain with few amenities but serves fine as a home base for exploring South Beach for a couple of days. François at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

I believe in being positive, so I will just say that due to the fact that it was New Years and all the other hotels were booked, I was grateful that I had a place to stay. It was super close to the beach as well as the top night spots, and compared to the prices of the other hotels during this time, the price was affordable. I will be sure, however, to plan a little better to ensure that I get exactly what I want in a hotel next time I am in South Beach.

Our stay at the Kent this year was disappointing. It was much better about five or so years ago when we were last there. Back then, we had a cool room with mellow music playing when we entered our room, and the lobby had some amenities (I seem to recall a bakery or some other kind of food counter). Now, the place seems rather stripped down. The room was freshly painted in a light color, which was better than the purple I seem to recall, but half of the lobby was blocked off with nothing there except for a PC that didn't work. I thought there was at least a a tatami mat under the bed last time, where now the floors are completely bare. The bathroom is completely unfunctional as there is no space for any toiletries -- not even for soap or shampoo in the shower! The front desk clerks at both check-in and check-out worked from a chair rather than rising to greet the guests, which seemed a little rude. The place has lost its mojo and cool SoBe vibe. It was New Year's Eve, so we expected some noise, but the place overall was loud enough that it felt more like a hostel or dorm than a hotel. On the plus side, the location is fantastic and the price was right. Next time in SoBe, we may pay a little more to go a bit more upscale.

Francois is awesome! He's a front desk guy. He was super nice and accommodating and professional. I had called ahead a few weeks before arriving and some guy answered who was definitely not Francois and he had a major attitude problem. The rooms were clean and nice, great location!! Unlike some of the other boutique hotels, the kent is pretty modern and spacious. No complaints and will definitely stay there again!

First let me say that there are hidden fees so beware...even if you pay in full at check in they want more money....the night guy was very rude to me...not helpful at all...Parking is horrible they don't validate or give any discount...add at least $25 for that too....I put on reservation, a late check ou please.. when I checked in at 4 am due to a problem I was having with comming up with the extra $60 they wanted, that I did not know about I asked for the late check out.. I was told I had to ask in the morning...I got up at 9 to feed meter and ask... aI just needed maybe another hour...and they told me NO... the very rude lady showed my a paper and said when you signed in you agreed to 12 o clock check out....NEVER AGAIN... places like this make me only want to stay at a franchise...the cheaper price is not worth it at all...HORRIBLE..

Given the fact that this was an old hotel. It was well maintained, the front desk was friendly and you could walk to every thing near by. Please be aware this is not a super lux hotel. I would stay here again.

I used their valet for my car and it took 45 minutes when I tried to get my car back which made me very late for a meeting. I never used their valet again. The bathroom light was burned out for 2 days so I unscrewed it myself and took it to the front desk. 3 days later when I checked out there was still an empty light socket in the bathroom There was no bellman service so, even though my room was on the first floor, there were 2 sets of stairs (4-6 stairs each) to carry my luggage myself to my room. I had 3 bags so I had to make 2 trips (leaving part of my luggage unattended in the lobby) while I took some of my luggage to my room & carried it out when I left. The TV remote control batteries were dead when I checked in. I took it to the front desk and he said it would take 5-10 minutes to get new batteries for me so I went down the street to eat lunch. When I came back and asked for my remote control, he pulled it out of a drawer and said, "Oh, I forgot. I'll go get them now." Then I stood there for 5 minutes while he got me some batteries. Even when it worked, I had to press the "POWER" button 3 times every time I tried to turn on the TV. My standard room had a window that looked out into an alley and a dumpster. If you think, "I'm going to stay at an old Motel 6 in a great location" then you will not be disappointed.

both the bedroom and the bathroom have minimum amount and oversimplified furnitures with underfunctional design, they make staying pretty inconvient and with no fun.
