Old hotel in need of TLC and upkeep but large, clean rooms with amazing ocean view right on boardwalk at a reasonable price. Definitely a diamond in the rough. They provide beach chairs and umbrella to enjoy the water which is just a few hundred feet in front of the hotel. Many good places to eat along boardwalk and close parking and less then 20 minutes from FLL airport. I would stay again and recommend

Nice rooms, loved the beach front view. Just cross the walkway and you are on the beach. Lots of good food and drinks close, so no need to drive!!

Here was what was good about this hotel: location, clean towels, clean sheets. The fridge was great too once I found it (hidden inside a dresser?!) Heres the ugly part: YEARS of dust on every picture, mirror, behind tv; there must have been 300 ppl's DNA all of our room & the entire hotel. Amd thr fact the each of our 3 days there- the elevator died. So forna person with 2 broken legs from not even 2 yrs ago- the 2nd floor room was a horrible hike. There were literally holes with exposed wires in atleast 4 places I saw, & the plaster walls were falling apart. Oh and they have TAPED the room numbers on the walls, I could have played tricks on ppl all night long if I wanted. Sheldon hotel was a major disappointment.

Me and my husband had a great time in our little vacation. The hotel was very clean, the room was pretty spacious. Beside the fact the elevator didnt work, everything was great. I would def go back there next time

The room included a full kitchen with stove top, full-size refrigerator, microwave, plates and silverware. Good-size room. Hotel is close to I-4, Altamonte Mall and Crane's Roost Park. It has an exercise room with weights, treadmills, and elipticals. Also has laundry facilities. Could be used for extended stays.

The hotel is in the process of renovation. It should be closed. We arrived and asked immediately for a room change. The room from hotels.com was more a closet than a room. There was not even space for a chair in the room. A new desk attendant arranged for a room at a change in the cost of the room. This wiped out the savings we got from the site. This was better but it did not improve the satff. A grunt was the most we got from the lobby attendants. The lobby had little furniture and was not a place we wanted to have our friends meet us. The only redeeming feature was the location.

Great location. The place has some updates but they were done in a very tight budget.

Wanted a hotel on Hollywood boardwalk Easter week. All hotel chains including miles inland were more than $200 per night. Found the Sheldon for less and grabbed it. We had a refurbished room facing ocean. Sunrise is fabulous. Room had frig, microwave, coffee pot. There is a limit to how much you can improve a 60+ year old hotel. The lobby was sparsely furnished, no carpet in the rooms and the lamp and coffee pot needed repairs. However, if they fix it up too much it will not be reasonably priced. Despite the online info that the hotel has been completely refurbished, I was told that only 7 of the 42 rooms has been redone because they are so busy they don't want to close a room to redo it. Overall was very pleased with the room, location and price and would stay again. There are some really dumpy places on Hollywood beach and the Sheldon is far superior. However, if I had more time to plan I would rent a condo for more space, amenities and price.

Hotel needs some work physically. Staff was fairly nice. We did try to extend stay one night and booked a room at front desk only to find out the next morning that the hotel was sold out and the lady did not see our extra night. Very frustrating. Was not offered any help or options.

Just across the boardwalk from the beach! Remodeling, but our room was comfortable and clean. If your looking for a sweet little boutique hotel on the beach this is your place. Check for construction discounts. Enjoy Hollywood!

Location is great! But hotel needs room renovation,especially bathroom.Hotel staff was great and overal experience was good.

Remodel is being done on the cheap - poor paint job, instead of encasing wiring into the conduit in walls or at least in track on wall - left dangling. Towels and bathmats should have been discarded months ago- skimpy soap for bath and hands, soap dish on sink - stupid. Did furnish "old" beach towels, umbrella & chair for beach and has free parking. Persons at desk - not too pleasant at all - Appear to be funding remodel with use of hotel during remodeling, Hall floors broken tiles, ceiling tiles broken, some old some new tiles. Bed and bedding were very good. NO directory for TV stations asked, do not have. Lobby empty except for desk - few chairs along walls in lobby. If not for the central location would have been a terrible stay. Not a place to stay now and maybe not ever if remodel continues on the cheap. Bill

Can't beat the location. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Some rooms are renovated and some yet to be renovated but still clean. Great price for location. Would definitely go back.

It has a long way to go .. our room was noisy from A/C units right outside window . The room floor and bathroom floor were not cleaned . Hair from previous guests was on bathroom floor . Good for one night stay , but DO NOT make this a long term vacation .Looks like Rooms were furnished with garage sale items .

NOT YOUR TYPICAL HOTEL IF YOU WANT A 5 STAR IT IS NOT BUT A GREAT LITTLE NEAT PLACE RIGHT ON THE BEACH WISH IT HAD BEEN WARMER, WAS ONLY THERE ONE NIGHT WAITING ON A FLIGHT BUT HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE, MORE RENOVATIONS ARE ON THE WAY MAYBE A 5 STAR SOME TIME SOON!

This place wasn't bad if you're looking for a place next to the beach to party in for a night or two. It is right on the boardwalk and close to a number of restaurants and bars. The employees were very helpful and even lent my girlfriend an umbrella to use on a rainy day. The room was clean with tiled floors, but the furniture was old and beat-up. The place looks like it has been partied in pretty hard and even had a beer opener attached to the bathroom door trim which had been painted over a number of times. Overall the place was just ok, and I would probably opt for a place with a pool or hot tub in the future.

I liked the hotel and it's location. However the hotel needs some improvement, e.g., room could use some shelves sinces there was no bureau in the room. The bathroom had no shelves and no table to put things on. I had to use the toilet with the cover down, and the back of the toilet. The shelf over the sink was not even and didn't hold much. The sink in the bathroom filled up with water and drained very slow. The toilet didn't flush unless you held the handle until the toilet flushed completely. However we were comfortable in the room and I would stay their again. Housekeeping was very good and the staff at the desk very polite and friendly.

Parking area was a little hard to find at first.

It's absolutely the best location on the whole strip. it is currently being remodeled but it is very clean.

The hotel is under construction with areas of the hotel all torn up. The Lobby had no appeal. You had to be given an Iron & Iron Board to take up to your room. The TV was very dated. Was glad I was only staying for one night. Wouldn't stay any longer. Desk clerk was the only staff person working and refuse my request to preview the room. Never to stay there ever again.

This was a last resort option, because I needed a night in Hollywood, and it was the cheapest available close to the Boardwalk. The website photos showed a beautiful white lobby. They didn't show the broken tiles in hallway, 30 inch wide doors to the room, broken tiles at tub handles, stained bathtub, hair on bathroom floor, 13 inch TV, lots of noise from hallway and adjacent rooms.

We had a great stay. The people were nice and we were right on the beach!! And free parking!

We stayed for five days. The hotel is right next to Hollywood Beach Park. The hotel was the first one built along Hollywood Beach and the Broadwalk, in the 1940's. The management has been renovating the hotel, but we didn't experience any construction while we were there. More renovations are planned for spring 2013.We were disturbed early Sunday morning when some hotel guests returned to the hotel about 3 am and continued their Saturday night activity. The disturbance lasted for about 30 minutes, until the person at the hotel desk became aware of the noise and told them to quiet down. The management doesn't want or tolerate those behaviors. So, let them know if it happens while you are there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Hollywood Trolley operates three lines on Wednesday through Sunday, all of which stop on Johnson Street, about 50-60 yards from the hotel entrance on Surf Road. This is helpful because parking is very limited around the hotel.

I really don't have any complaints. This hotel is in a great location facing the beach and walkway area. I'm thinking this is the reason that it was not less in price. For not having a continental breakfast and the somewhat dull appearance of the inside and room I found it to be a bit expensive. I have paid the same amount and had much nicer accomodations but then again was not right on the beach. So again I am not complaining. There is wi fi and free parking and the room was clean but it was more basic than I was expecting for the price I paid, that's all. The staff are very friendly and courteous and I was made to feel welcome. It is conveniently located near a lot of restaurants and shops. I guess that's what the say about location location location!

Overall stay was good, location is perfect. Hotel under renovation but staff very accommodating. Room was great. Extended our stay because we love the area. Would definetly come back.

The bathroom was awful I had to shower with my sandals on, other people's body hair was all over the place. Says it was recently renovated looks like they spent more money on locks for the room then anything else.

Nice and friendly staff. Had two rooms for the family and one was much larger than the other. Both clean and comfortable. Some noise from remodeling crew but not excessive. No Raddison by any means bus a pleasant place to stay

There is outstanding potential for this older hotel to excell as a charmer! But for now, the degree of consturction makes it pretty challenging. You can imagine the art deco beauty, but.... Given that the lobby was like a war zone due to construction, the staff did a decent job. While we had to wait for our room, we were given beach chairs, umbrellas and towels to step out the door and enjoy the beach and Broadwalk. Terrific! Our room was adequate, but no more. Again, even the halls were construction zones. The entrance is on the "back" (non beach side) of the hotel and the entire place is lacking signage. More chairs on the back door deck or in the lobby space would help, while waiting around. We had to ask for a luggage rack and, with 3 in the room, it was crowded. It would help if there were hairdryers provided, too. The bathroom definetey awaits a reno. View is great. Wish there was an outdoor space (balcony or patio) to sit out and watch the world go by. I would recommend it due to the location and price, but there is currently no degree of luxury.

I knew going into the hotel to expect the construction; so it was not a surprise. There was no lobby at all. The hotel staff was very friendly and gave us an early check in. The entire hotel is under renovation. This hotel is over 80 years old; so it needed it. We got an old room but it was very clean. The king size bed was comfy, the sheets were very clean and soft, the microwave and refrigerator worked and the tv had a ton of channels. We had an ocean front view and it was awesome! This hotel is located right on the boardwalk. The location can't be beat! I heard that Starwood resorts is going to be building feet away from the hotel, once that comes in this hotel will be able to charge a ton more (especially after the renovation). If they do it right, it could really be a cute boutique hotel. Ask for a renovated room (I heard they will have walk in showers and all new flooring, etc). The older room is fine but expect a bathroom from the 40s-50s. Make sure you take in lunch at Giorgios and dinner at Las Brisas. I would go back to this hotel again---just do not expect 4 stars while under construction or something boring like a chain hotel.

Hotel Sheldon is great beachside location on the broadwalk. It's still under construction though, so some noise during the day is inevitable. A great place for the price, clean rooms, and a beautiful view of the ocean and Hollywood Beach.

Location is great, lots of bars and restaraunts around. Shower barely put out enough water to get wet and when I mentioned it at the front desk all they said was they didn't have any other rooms. Beach is great, for the price I'd consider going back if I couldn't find anything better.

Hotel: nice room with flat screen TV, the bathroom is brand new we paid $20 more for an ocean front view and it was a great view. The room was still economical as the total was $143 for deluxe ocean view. The staff was friendly they had our room ready at 12 pm. They give you towels, an umbrella, chairs. Parking is included. Location: that's the best part if this hotel. Its right on the boardwalk and beach and its right in the middle of the boardwalk. You got all kinds of restaurants like Italian, French, Greek food also lots of bars and hamburger places. There's an awesome ice cream place downstairs and a fudge place near by. The boardwalk is family oriented. Lots of mini Parks for kids. Bike rentals. There's a mini mall close by also and an outdoor theater that they do shows on every night. Overall great family area i didn't look for nightlife too much most of the boardwalk was dead by 12am on Saturday. Im from Miami and been to south beach alot and it was great. The people were really nice and friendly from the waiters and fellow tourist. I will be back for a longer stay with the family next time. Was here for anniversary getaway

The hotel is in a great location and is right on the beach. The hotel is very outdated and is currently under renovations which have been going on for over a year. The floors of the rooms are very dirty and look like they have never been cleaned. The staff is friendly. As long as you don't expect luxury then its a ok place.

Great staff Beds Great Clean everyday right on beach next to all kinds of food right downstarirs and out the door for breakfast Cant wait to see the new front when all renos are done ! Yes there is still work being done but the workers are very goos at being as quiet as possible stay here its very good ...

Stay somewhere else. This hotel is a disaster Words can't describe the shortcomings.

The building has some things that need to be fix but nothing major. The location is great and in a relaxing and quite neighborhood. I will go to this hotel again in a hearth beat.

Great staff and nice hotel

We stay there every year! the staff is wonderful and give you extra towels every time you go to the beach! they even gave my kids floats and a boogie board to use! frig and mic in room with coffee maker and the view can not be beaten. Not to mention right on the board walk great location and step right out to the beach! Also right across the street from flickerlight a great place for seafood and pizza! be sure to dine out side! Like I said we stay here every year and would not think of staying anywhere else!! The Jeter Family!

They are still remodeling the frond desk area so its very small but I can tell it will look great when they are done. Highly recommend this hotel.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was beautiful on the outside but was undergoing major renovations inside. The hotel is located right on the beach and is within walking distance to everything. It would have been nice to know this before we booked. Although the hotel was very old the rooms were clean and well maintained.

Not a bad overall experience. The hotel could use a little bit more "sprucing up". You know broken tiles all over the floor , wires hanging all over... These little things could be addressed even during Reno ...however overall great location, staff is friendly and helpfull. Not a bad place to check in for a nice getaway on Hollywood Beach.

I had a great time,,,,,I was able to unplug/relax and then enjoythe ocean, restaurants & other boardwalk amenities. A lovely recharging stay!

Have stayed here for three years strait. Yes, it still needs some improvements such as finishing the construction that's been going on for the past three years, but overall it's a nice place for a romantic getaway the view from the ocean view rooms is spectacular the service and front desk people are really nice too.

ENTER THE LOCATION, UNDER CONSTRUCTION , ELEVATOR SCARED ME, ROOM WAS NOT CLEAN , DEAD ROACH ON THE FLOOR BATHROOM WAS NOT CLEAN PROPERLY, VIEW WAS GREAT BUT OVER ALL I WAS DISPOINTED, FOR THE AMOUNT I PAID I COULD HAVE STAYED AT WESTIN OCEAN FRONT HOTEL
