Econo Lodge Motel Village - كالجاري

After being checked in by a somewhat grumpy gentleman we proceeded to our room on the second floor. Based on the low star rating, we were not expecting a lot. What we found was a room with two double beds; one with a broken frame that made you feel like you were standing on your head when you laid down. At first we thought it might be that the mattress was not on correctly. When we adjusted that, we found that the frame was broken at the top, the mattresses were both bigger than their boxsprings and the one bed's boxspring had a really large, disturbing (blood?) stain on it. We pushed the mattress a bit too close to the wall, so went to the other side of the bed to adjust it. What we found over there appeared to be a mouse trap on the floor. Yuck! The bathroom was in dire need of renovation. The tub was all scratched up. Needless to say we were not happy with the room, but we decided to just deal with it and see if we could change it in the morning. In the morning, after a restless night, we went to the front desk and a very nice, helpful woman dealt with our issues and told us that although they were full, they would have another room made available for us. By 9:30 that morning we were moved and the second room (on the main floor) was very good. They should make a strong effort to bring all their rooms up to that standard and not risk losing customers for the chain with that first room! The breakfast was decent and the location was good and central. There were good restaurants and pubs nearby, but no sidewalks, so you had to drive even if they were close.

The stay at the econo lodge worked great for a quick stay for a conferance. Close to University.

If you want a good sleep dont stay here, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on in both rooms next to you. The room was also way to hot to sleep comfortably in and the heaters could not be turned down. The staff were all fine, and the breakfast was ok, this place needs a major renovation!

I would not stay there again.

This hotel was a dump. When we first got there the bathroom in our room had used bars of soap still in the shower and the bathroom didn't even look like it had been cleaned at all. The maintenance of the building was horrible. Would never ever go back n wouldn't ever recommend to any body.

An inexpensive way to spend the night. Not super fancy but gets the job done.

The front desk staff were super helpful and very warm. The room was ok. I stayed in a double smoking room. I do not smoke, however. The room did have a very overpowering smell of tobacco. This was not the biggest issue. The tub did not drain properly and the shower head was very very low. It was hard to shower while kneeling and having water over my ankles by the end of my 3 minute shower. I would stay again because of the location. But would request a non-smoking room and pay the bit extra!

Decent value, clean. Access to the tub/shower could be a challenge for anyone with leg/hip/knee trouble: it is at least 6 inches off of the floor on a raised platform. The shower head is lower than normal, shoulder level for a 6 ft tall person. Otherwise, the place was failry good for the relatively low price.

Location is convenient, but setting makes it awkward for parking especially in inhospitable winter weather conditions. Otherwise the Hotel is Good Value for the dollar relative to other hotels..---- They do have a continental breakfast, and are conveniently located near restaurants if you want a more complete breakfast with service.

I had to stay in Calgary while visiting a friend in the Foothills Care Facility. Location for that purpuse is perfect and I really got the best value for my money.

I just came back from my visit in Calgary. I stayed at Econolodge (near University of Calgary) in room 125. I loved it. It was recently renovated so the room was very clean and comfortable. If I ever go back to Calgary, I would come back to Econolodge again and again and again.

The hotel was advertised as 10 Km from the airport. This was not true as the cab ride to and from was $35 each way. This meant that the hotel cost was more then a much better property. The hotel was run down and they required a $100 security deposit , which was nonsense. This property gives Econo Lodge a bad name!!

Old hotel with an unbereable smell. I would not stay there again. Not worth the money.

I've been in the two Econo Lodge Motels in Calgary in this street: Causeway Bay is the better one. Better rooms, better breakfirst, a possibility to have your breakfast sitting instead of standing: Don't go here, even if it is 10 CAD$ per night cheaper.

The name of this hotel implies that it is the one in which we stayed on a previous trip - i.e. that is is located in the area in the group of hotels that were built at the time of the Olympics. We had stayed in the Econo Lodge which is in Motel Village - not on 16th - this motel was not the one we anticipated. As we had booked on line, and paid for the accomodation, we would felt stuck and stayed the night though we would have not done so if it hadn't meant forfeiting our money.

There is a strong curry smell in the hotel. The rooms are small. There is a much nicer Econo Hotel around the corner which I would recomend.

I was not impressed that we were asked for a $100. damage deposit.. I do not believe this is the practice of other hotels. I travel alot and I have never been asked before.

when arrived the hotel the gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant... to the older couple in from of me then when i came to check in complete 180. the hallway on the first floor felt like it had ruts under the carpet almost like you have mud on your shoe feeling. had to leave the window open all night the heater would not shut off. no smoking on your deck which is fine cuz its the law. in the morning the woman said please wait i have to check with the cleaning staff to make sure your room is fine you in 227 i said no i wasn't i was in 222 so right there not sure if it was profiling as i am 30, no clue but looks like they either don't trust the customers or maybe they have something against people that appear to be under a certain age. becuz of the impression of how they treat people of certain age is enough for me to say no i will not be staying at your hotel or any that bare the same name!

Only problem was the wind blew open my balcony door in the night and the windows rattled all night. I got no sleep Might be time to get new windows

This Econo lodge motel is old, dirty and bedding and beds are old and cheap. The rooms are dated and it looks like this place is used for people looking to stay for extended periods of time. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the next rooms and in the hallways. The bathrooms are dated, dirty and look like a truck stop restroom. Don't waste your time staying at this hole...go somewhere else and get a better stay and better service from a front desk attendant who can speak proper english and cares for their patrons staying at their establishment. TOTALLY A BAD PLACE TO STAY.

15 min from airport. The room was spacious and had a little kitchenette with dishes, sink, fridge and microwave! The halls smelled like smoke but the room smelled fine.

Rude and unprofessional staff. Cheated us by charging for play pen which was originally given to us for a night as complimentary.

The Lodge is inexpensive. The room was clean & comfortable. We did not have the continental breakfast because of other commitments. I did not expect to have a $100 "retainer" charged to my credit card - other hotels have taken just an imprint, but not made a charge until checkout; and I could not get a cancellation of the charge when I checked out, because staff had not had time to check the room.

the place is a bit shabby but the staff were friendly and it met our needs and was accomodating.

This Motel is close to all amenities, Hospital,, sports stadium and downtown activities. The price's of the rooms are very competitive with other motel's in the area. We had a good stay.

Overall the Hotel was good for the price. The staff were friendly. Our room was well appointed with everything we needed. Downstairs the heating was too high (It seemed about 26 degrees!) and we needed a window open, but the upstairs room was perfect temp. It is an older hotel but everything was clean. It is a bargain stay in a very convenient location right near the train and close to lots of restaurants etc. If you just want a place to sleep it is
