Nice hotel not far from the arena. About nine dollar cab ride.

Rooms are nice, staff is friendly. The area is very quiet, it's hard to find some conveniences such as stores, restraurants etc., especially on the weekend.

Room felt dirty, out of date. Barely slept because the lack of working AC. Non attentive staff, given multiple different excuses for lack of air. Highlight of the stay was La Musique Restaurant.

We love this hotel. Use it every time we come down to stay overnight for a baseball game. Short commute to the stadium and the staff is super friendly!

The hotel management were helpful and the room was facing the Main Street which made the stay more better. Location is walking distance from all the things one person would need.

No complaints at all. My stay was nice there I would go again easily.

great service nice clean rooms

The building itself has potential. It does look run down despite a sign saying it was newly renovated. Windows were not clean, dust throughout the hotel and especially the room. The neighborhood is not the best and because there is a lack of safe parking you are forced to pay $20 a night to have your vehicle parked behind the property. I was told there was validation for parking but when I checked out I was told that was incorrect and was forced to pay. For the price, even at a discounted rate, the cost was not justified. I can honestly say, I will not be staying at the Hotel St. Regis again and I will deter others as well.

Very close to Detroit Symphony's hall, but got stuck on the floor with other auditioners. Not a big problem, but you know...

I was in town for a quick break between trains. The hotel is a super-quick walk to the Amtrak station, which is why I picked it. The service was friendly, though I asked for a 5:00am wake-up call (to catch an early train) and the call didn't come until 5:30. Room was fine, coffee was good. The hotel was clearly pretty snazzy back in the day when Detroit wasn't Beirut. The neighborhood is nothing special. But again, if your purpose is to get some sleep before catching a train, this is the spot.

Good room good rate

The ambiance of the hotel is very good. It is close to the Amtrak Station but miles away from downtown and the Greyhound Depot. Neighbourhood is a mixture but good and not so good. It is just a street away from a frequent downtown bus service.

The staff at the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel was well kept and clean and the room was comfortable and close to the casinos we were visiting. Overall it was a great experience and I plan to stay there again when we visit Detroit.

This a a grand old hotel that has been renovated somewhat recently. Our room was nothing out of the ordinary but much nicer than the age of the hotel would lead you to believe. The windows are not that efficient but closing the blind keeps the sun, draft and noise at bay. The bathroom has been completely remodeled. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room but ice was close by. iPod docking alarm clock and wifi worked fine as well. The restaurant didn't get a high score for breakfast. We were an hour waiting. It turns out that someone in the kitchen didn't show up for work that day. The waitress was doing everything as best she could but where was the management to solve the problem and explain it to the guests? Best part of our stay was the staff. Genuinely nice people, always polite and accommodating. I'd certainly stay here again but the food and bev team has some work to do before I'd eat here again.

We stayed for one night to attend an event near by. The stay and everything about the hotel was just fine. Its close to Wayne State and the Motown Museum. The surrounding neighborhood does not offer many restaurants on the weekends. Overall the hotel has good quality of service. Thanks!

Hotel needs major renovation. Everything is old and worn out. Carpets, walls, even bed sheets are dirty. The staff, however, were friendly and helpful.

I truly enjoyed myself at the hotel.

We arrived Detroit early in the morning. The lady in the front desk permitted an early check-in, which allowed us a better preparation for a busy day. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from city centre by bus. You can take bus 53 to city centre. The bus stop is only a minute away from the hotel. The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful. I asked them to book a cab for me and set up morning call. All tasks were completed perfectly. Our room was nice and clean. The king bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a little older, but the over all quality is satisfactory.

The whole floor I was on smelled like marijuana and it was filling up my room...I was in town for the week but I checked into a different hotel in the morning...

I liked the total, it was really good value for money. The free breakfast from 6-8 am sucked really hard though. It is impossible to get around if you do not have a car in Detroit, so rent a car! Do even bother to walk around or take public, you might get mucked!

Convenient location close to Amtrak station (5 minutes walk) clean room, friendly and efficient staff, would book that hotel again.

I was satisfied with this hotel experience. Check-in was simple and room was clean with comfy bed. Valet was efficient, I called ahead for them to pull my car to front and they even had engine running to heat up car on cold morning. Room service was also great.

I think that the service was excellent, the people were very friendly and overall I enjoyed my experience. I do think that they should serve a better breakfast, especially for the price.

Rate was great for the area, only 10 minutes from downtown casino area, and has great food onsite with a CVS a half block away. My only beef with this place, and it's a personal issue, is valet only parking- if I'd have been in a rental I probably wouldn't have cared, but being in my own car I refuse to relinquish my car to anybody, even my wife! :p Other than that, it's clean, secure, and the police station is even a block away, so it's as safe as you can be in Detroit! ;)

I stayed for 4 days and enjoyed myself. The only down fall was that the only parking was Valet.

It was very good.

The hotel was clean and the service was great. The close distants to downtown events made the stay nice. Older hotel so condition was taken into consideration. Good place for the money.

After reading other reviews was a bit hesitant to stay here, but the price was right so gave it a try. In town for business for 2 nights. Valet that greeting us was very pleasant, front desk very friendly every time, decor was nice. I told my husband about the other reviews so he was on the lookout for things that might be wrong. He spotted potato chip crumbs on the carpet, an outlet that was loose and the hook/latch on the door was a bit loose. Everything else was fine. I would stay here again. Some others at my meetings stayed at more expensive hotels & had bigger problems, so was glad to see that I made a good choice. Told front desk about the above issues. He took note & was glad that I let him know.

As a heads up, there is a $14 valet charge to park, plus the valet is quite welcoming of additional tips.

I had great stay , really enjoy myself

The hotel room was very nice. Very comfy bed and all other equipments. The reception and the people worked there were nice and informative. Only the drawback was the hotel was not in the very nice area. I would not say it was dangerous, but I did not feel like stepping out after I went out for a few blocks. The hotel was listed as downtown area. But the taxi driver told me that the hotel was 3 to 4 miles away from the downtown area. The location is not convenient. If you would like just to relax, it is a good place to stay. The room is really nice and comfortable. But be prepare to have what you need before getting there. No chance for shopping and taking a walk in the environment. I was happy personally since my flight was cancelled and I needed lots of rest in the room.
