We celebrated our 15th anniversary at Banks Mansion and it could not have been better! Canal view, open bar, comfy bed, fantastic breakfast. What more could you want?

this was our fourth stay at The Banks Mansion, and we will go back again, close to everything, either walking or by tram. Staff is very professional, and well groomed. The kitchen staff works very hard to please everyone, especially the woman, sorry did not get her name, but she has been there every time we have and not only does she cook your breakfast she is constantly keeping herself busy with clearing tables etc.

Welcoming staff, very helpful if you are visiting to sightsee as can get museum tickets, tram tickets etc from reception. The foyer is quite small with a wide variety of complimentary drinks alcoholic and soft drinks. Smaller selection available in each room. Creates quite an interesting atmosphere although I felt a little claustrophobic. Very clean, comfortable rooms, not that big. Watch out for terrible view from groundfloor suite. Could benefit from bigger thicker towels and some more room lighting. I am in my forties and think I have normal vision but struggled with the rather low level of lighting even with every lamp turned on. Breakfast limited as no restaurant. Some cooked bacon/ sausages in heater. with lady who fries cook eggs/ omelettes room rather stinks of this. Modest cold continental selection.

Great all around hotel. It could not have been better.

The Banks Mansion was ideally situated next to a canal and a few minutes walk to the flower market and shops. Dam Square was about a 10 min walk. The hotel was very relaxing with coffee, tea and alcoholic drinks available in reception along with a log fire and a array of magazines and newspapers in many languages. It was a refreshing change to use the mini bar in our room and not worry about charges. The beds were so comfortable with a choice of pillows. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel. The only negative point was that the room was not serviced until the afternoon when we liked to rest before the evening festivities. Would definitely return.

My wife and I have been traveling over Europe for our honeymoon, our first time in europe, and of all the hotels and places we have stayed the banks Mansion was and is the best!!!!!!!!! The staff and the area all centrall to Amsterdam, CBD, the breaky was ace!!!!!, and all hdrinks were free at ant time full service was amazing! Great stylish hotel. The all inclusive bar and snacks are fantatic and its great to relax in the lounge and meet others. The staff are so genuinely helpful and friendly its refreshing . Top quality items in room and very comfortable. We would not hesitate to go back here and recommend to others. 10/10

The concept of Banks Mansion Hotel is great! We were greeted with champagne, enjoyed the free drinks and the spacious room with a lovely view of the canals. Highly recommendable.

This is my second time staying at this hotel and it was again a pleasure to stay. It is perfectly located for alot of the attractions. The parking is a bit of a walk but it did not stop me from returning

This former bank, now hotel is first class all the way. From the helpful, engaging staff to all the comforts of home provided in every room, I have never felt MORE comfortable away from home as I did here. As a frequent flyer, I could only hope that other chains would follow Banks Mansion's model of taste, comfort and customer service. Bravo! A company that got it right!

This small hotel is located on the corner of the Vijzelgracht and the Herengracht, slap bang in the middle of Amsterdam. Within 1 minute's walk you're at the floating Flower Market and the Muntplein (start of the Kalverstraat - the shopping street). If you walk two minutes, you're at the Rembrandtplein. Everything is so close by, it's great. We were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Downstairs is a lounge area with a well-stocked bar (free) where you can enjoy anything from Tea to G&T. There are small snacks available, and from about 4 there is a large and varied cheese/meat platter for nibbles to accompany your drinks. The room was large, had a free mini-bar, a pillow menu (where you can choose the pillow that best suits you), and a large bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower. If you're looking for a good 4 star hotel in the very heart of Amsterdam with great service, this is definitely the place to be. We'll definitely be going back.

Excellent location, service, breakfast, wifi, and price. Highly recommended.

Great staff provide a friendly welcome and then give a discrete and caring service throughout your stay. The "open bar" facility provides a most pleasant way to chill out after a session of sight-seeing, and the cheese buffet each evening is a nice touch. The location is excellent being central to a wide range of attractions. Breakfast buffet is good with omeletes and pancakes cooked to order. Rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped. The beds are one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Ultimately this hotel was the highlight of a very enjoyable break in Amsterdam.

Their idea of all inclusive means having gin, whisky and cognac in decanters in your room and a slightly better selection in the lobby bar. Our room was pretty and good sized by Amsterdam standards. The people at the desk were quite rude about the check in time. I would not recommend the hotel.

I thought I'd love this hotel because so much was included (breakfast, internet, mini-bar, snacks in the lobby) but it was the great service that really won me over. I'll be back.

Banks Mansion- outstanding location, a liitle pricey for a small room, though very clean. The front desk was very helpful in searching out parking and places. Recommed park and ride if you're driving in. Took advantage of their free drinks, good beer/cordials in the lobby, plenty of whiskey/cognac if that's your thing. Good breakfast, outstanding omeletes, though didn't see any pancakes. We had a room right on the street, and we had no problem with noise on a Saturday night. The staff would influence my decision to come back.

Very nice hotel and excellent staff. Good location too, 4 stops on the tram to central station and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Everything free in the hotel including DVD's, wine and mini bar! Highly recommended.

Perfect location, only minutes away from Central station by tram (2.6 Euro). Walking distance to all museums, flowermarket, Ann Frank House, Bols liquer musuem/experience and shopping. 24 hour tram ticket only 7 Euros, nearest stop less than one minute walk from hotel. The hotel offers a fully inclusive approach to alchol, coffees and soft drinks, the bar is open to guests free of charge at all times (help yourself - no bar staff). Fresh snacks are also served during the day to accompany the drinks. The hotel has a 1930`s style, rooms are spacious, comfy and clean. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice of standard and freshly cooked items...nothing is to much bother for the staff. Strongly recommend the hotel.

The hotel staff were very accommodating in get us a room as soon as possible considering our early arrival due to our trans-Atlantic flight. Be prepared to walk a fair distance to tourist area. Neighbourhood was quiet along a canal and within an easy walk to several memorable restaurants. Overall a very good experience.

You will like this hotel if you value really helpful friendly staff, comfortable beds and a good breakfast. The complimentary alcohol/coffee/afteroon cheese platter/minbar snacks add to the hotel's relaxed vibe. The free DVD library and free wi-fi and free computers(in the lounge) are a great touch. Great location and good decor. I would definitely go back and not just for the free booze.

A totally positive experience. A very service minded staff along with the great food and the free bar made this stay perfect. The wine buffet at 4 PM everyday in the hotel became a mandatory break in the daily program :-)

We found the Hotel very comfortable. The location was very good and the staff were very friendly. The brekfast was also very nice. We arrived a couple of hours before checkin but they were still able to put us straight into the room. The free bar is a very interesting idea although you need to get in early to find a seat for pre-diner drinks. The only downside is the parking is a bit of a walk, about 900m.but you could try and find some canal side parking.

Stayed in the Banks Mansion for four nights in early November, quite pricey but definitely worth every penny! The hotel is very central, staff are so friendly and willing to help with any query you might have. The lobby is known as the "living room", you help yourself to the bar- wines, beers, coffees etc. available all day. Cheese buffet is brought out at around 6 and is amazing! Rooms are very clean and spacey. If you want to be pampered I would definitely recommend the Banks Mansion!

This "all-inclusive" hotel is overrated. The rooms are eclectic, dirty, and old. The outside of the hotel in photographs look much different when you see it in person - it looks old and run-down. We were very disappointed. The front desk staff, while pleasant, had no idea how to ship items we purchased back to the States - something no other hotel ever had a problem doing. However, it does have a good location.

I booked this hotel based on the outstanding reviews from prior customers. The hotel staff was courteous and the breakfast was fantastic. I would stay again and recommend the hotel.

We stayed for one night before heading to Brussels for a week long conference. All of the staff were incredibly nice, great location, great amenities.... If I ever visit Amsterdam again this will be my hotel of choice!!!

Wonderful hotel. Would definitely stay there again. Friendly staff and great service. Great central location - could walk to all major sights in central part of city. Staff very helpful with airport transport, stamps, restaurant recommendations, and more. Had very slight problem with shower and they went out of their way to fix. Free wireless internet, minibar, afternoon snacks, and drinks in lounge all a wonderful bonus.

I would return to Banks Mansion and recommend it to friends. The location is quite central, within walking distance of various neighborhoods and attractions. The front desk personnel provided a map on check-in, let us into our room a little early and offered to recommend and make reservations at restaurants. We liked the concept of the rate which included a free mini-bar in the room, free drinks and hors d'oeuvres and a free full breakfast with omelettes and pancakes.

The staff was just so nice....they really were..that I would go back - and i never say that!

Considering that the room rates were comparable to 4 and 5 star hotels in the vicinity, the pluses of the hotel, such as its convenient location, and B&B style coziness, did not fully offset the shoebox size rooms and cramped bathroom. Even after upgrading to an executive suite, the size of the room was barely adequate, and the bathroom was claustrophobic for a room at that price. The breakfast buffet was great, and the staff is pleasant and friendly. There's generally a premium on space in the historically tall and narrow buildings of Amsterdam, but larger and better appointed rooms can be found in this price range. The Carlton chain seems to have aimed this hotel at a young demographic with a lively social space, and youthful staff, all of which is appealing. The overall experience was pleasant, but as one of the costlier hotels in the neighborhood, it doesn't quite deliver a great value at that price.

An amazingly comfortable hotel, fantastic concept of All Inclusive drinks and snacks (other hotels take note!!) Fantastic position within Amsterdam for local attractions. Brilliant weekend and would thoroughly recommend.

We loved everything about this hotel - location was great - rooms so clean and nice - breakfast & cocktails delicious. But what really made the hotel so special was the warm & courteous staff. It even rained every day of our 3 night visit and we still had a great time. Amazing city with great history & museums - all walkable distance.

This hotel is very central and perfect for strolling to lots of sights. When we first entered the room thought it was a bit dark and dreary with a small window but it was clean, had aircon and the bathroom was huge with bath and seperate shower, the minibar is complimentary and the reception bar free too with great little snacks to nibble on, great breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful staff. When you go to Amsterdam you spend very little time in your hotel room so don't let the rooms put you off they are very comfortable just a little dated, everything else the hotel has to offer makes up for it..

Took a day in the middle of a business trip to stay over in Amsterdam (middle of the week) and, based on pricing and reviews on this site, I chose the Banks Mansion hotel. My comments: Overall very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. I took the train from Schiphol airport to the Central Station and bought a 24 hour tram/bus pass (across the street from the Central Station exit). Took the #4 tram (after consulting the outdoor map) and got off Vijzelstraat near Herengracht. One criticism - the address listed for the Hotel as 519-525 Herengracht is not accurate. The Banks is actually at the corner of Herengracht and Vijzelstraat. #519-525 (if that is supposed to be the block #'s) is not the hotel. I arrived around 8AM and was extremely grateful that a room was available for me to immediately occupy - huge bonus. Typical European hotel room - small, but well appointed, comfortable and clean. Didn't care about the free liquor and left too early for the free breakfast. Well positioned near the middle of the city and within walking distance to all of the main attractions. Word of advice - keep the map of Amsterdam close at hand and use the trams to get around. I kinda got turned around a couple of times and wound up walking about 3 hours more than I planned. Sore feet the next day, but got to see a lot of the city! Train fare (one way) plus a tram ticket is much cheaper than a taxi to/from the hotel. I had to take a taxi when I left to catch an early flight and the cost of a taxi plus top was EUR45.

In most European hotels you get less than what you pay for but not so at this one. Great central location, very friendly staff, good size rooms, free fast wifi, excellent breakfast included, minibar included, beer/wine/snacks in lobby included. Wow. I would stay there again.

Fast check in. very pleasant front desk. Having the breakfast,wifi, mini bar, full bar in the reception/lobby, and wine and cheese in the evening, all included was a pleasure. The food was great. We had the wifi in our room and it was in the reception area too. Nice to check Iphone while having a wine. .

Look closely at the photo - it's taken at night for a reason. Location isn't bad but that's about the best I can say. The hotel is very pricey and we expected a lot more. This is an average hotel - the price difference covers the free booze. Since we don't drink, we were disappointed overall. Additionally, there was a tour bus full of women - booked a year in advance so we were told - hence we were treated like second class citizens all the way around including having to share a bed because all the twins were "reserved".

We stayed at the Banks Mansion over the Easter break and we had a wonderful time from start to finish. The hotel is in a great location, central with easy access to all the key areas and sights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the bar was open to free drinks and nibbles the entire duration of stay which made it great when getting back to the hotel after a busy day experiencing Amsterdam. We would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend the hotel. Most memorable thing about the hotel was the lovely staff. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I love Amsterdam and I love it even more now that I've found the Banks Mansion Hotel. Perfectly located near Rembrandt Plein, easy walk to the must-see sites and great dining. Comfortable room. Friendly, professional staff. And most appreciate the all-inclusive concept (drinks, snacks, breakfast included in price of room). The lounge is a perfect area to relax in front of the fire with a complimentary glass of wine, cheese and crackers and the latest magazine. Step outside and you're on one of the inner canals lined with impressive homes. Really wonderful experience.

The staff is very friendly, courteous,and helpful. They were updating the satellite, so there was a couple of days with out TV. However there was sufficient notification and alternative viewing via DVDs from the hotel. HD viewing was available after completion and more channels to choose from if that is what you like. I was there for vacation and did not watch much TV. There is scooter to rent if you want to use for city travel if you don't like public transportation or walking, bicycle rentals are close by. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend for anyone that wants to stay in Amsterdam. The breakfast kitchen is fantastic, European style.

Horrible! I never actually made it to the hotel as my travel plans were cancelled from the states due to weather over Christmas. Every other place I had reservations at completely understood and refunded all of my money, however this little place decided not to even though their airport was shut down and there was no way I could get into the country. I would never recommend this place and when I go back you can count on me not staying here. For such a small hotel you think they would have been a lot more understanding. I have told every friend and family member I know not to stay here and being the frequent traveler, you can bet they will be missing out on a lot of future business.
